Return of the Fallen

Disclaimer: I do not own Super Smash Brothers Brawl or any of the characters. I only own Sun-Wong, Isaak, Himeno, Roger, Aqua, Mcenche, Pepper (me), Li, Abbigale, Queen Neptune, Prince Pluto, Emperor Apollo, Queen Hinata, Queen Zoe, Prince Henry, Queen Crystal, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Nina and the little bat Hoshi-Tsuki but not who he is. Zelina and Sao belong to Zelina56. I also own Fuyumi, Ian, Wright, Arachne, the Angel Assembly and the archangels.

Summary: After being the man behind everything, Tsusuki finally reveals who he is.

Me: Now the group can finally reach Tsusuki after Sonic does something about Fox…I have asked for a while and it has been six years and people have yet to figure out who Tsusuki is despite the evidence I laid out. This chapter will reveal all so be surprised (or not) and enjoy.

Chapter 45: Return of the Fallen

"Come on Fox! Wake up! Please! Wake up!"

It was pointless to continue shaking Fox as the others would soon find out with Sonic's painful efforts to wake him up. Since the beginning Fox was struck with a powerful curse where he had three chances to return to his normal size and figure out how to break the curse. Failure to do so would cost his life. This was the consequence of trying to heal the trophies outside of Subspace Emissary.

This was the curse of all the Smashers though. Once they all entered Smash, they would have that curse inside of them and if any enemy knew that, they would be sitting ducks, and outside would harm them.

"Fox!...Don't die…"

"…Sonic…what happened to him?" Falco questioned. "I've been in the longest coma and my best friend is dead."

"He's not dead!" The hedgehog cried back. "Right Fox? Fox!"

"Sonic…" Ike began stepping up but stopping see how the hedgehog was quivering badly. "We need to…"

"Fox can't be dead Ike! He promised he would make me happy! This isn't making me happy! It's making me…unhappy!" He shouted. He was losing self-control again…like that time Emerl had to be destroyed to save the world and he was the one who had to destroy him…and that was one of the most painful experiences in his life. Finding someone who couldn't take care of himself, raising him like a child…seeing him grow up to where he could make his own decisions without him and saving the world…only to put him down because it was too good to be true. He didn't want to think about it…and probably why he didn't take well to Dr. Eggman rebuilding Emerl as his own evil robot that would constantly attack the group.

Maybe it was a bad comparison to compare a robot to someone like Fox but maybe not. Despite being a robot, Emerl was like everyone else; a being with a soul that was precious to Sonic. Fox was also precious to Sonic. Yeah he was an asshole when this madness first started but he liked getting to know another side of Fox. Smash changed a lot of people the longer you stayed sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Fox honestly didn't like kids but understood them…but then again Fox started to treat Sonic on an equal level and he felt like there was some hope…and then falling in love with him…was probably a big mistake if this was what was going to end up happening.

Yuna, if you can hear me! Please save Fox! I'm begging you!

The others didn't exist anymore when Sonic opened his eyes. The only person in front of him was the Summoner in all of her glory…if glory meant covered up and beautiful. Despite her glowering eyes, she was biting her lip at Sonic's wish.

"Sonic…I am incapable of doing that…"

But why?! You're a Grand Summoner! You performed sendings and you could bring people back to life in battle! Fox isn't dead yet so your magic will work! Come on Yuna! You know I'm not a hedgehog to beg for help if I could do it myself!

"Sonic…I am incapable because consent is needed."

The hedgehog was lost so she continued.

"Sonic, must we forget that Fox and Falco were together way before you entered the picture. During these strings of events, you have gotten Fox to cheat on Falco for you. If Falco allows you to do so, I can revive Fox, but because you stole him away is why he ended up like this."

…I don't understand. What do my feelings have to-

"Sonic, you are young so I do not expect you to understand, but remember this. Love is war and you used unethical methods of getting to Fox's heart. His curse was about love that he would never accomplish because you made it impossible. If you both desire to save him it's possible."

But that means…I would have to tell Falco what went on when he was a trophy. We don't have time for that though! Your magic won't work if we take too long!

"I know…Sonic, what is more important? Your reputation that might be slandered when all of this is over or your love for Fox?"

Isn't it obvious! I love…both…but…

He looked down ashamed. His reputation was what made him feel any self-worth whatsoever to the faceless masses. As long as he was a hero, they would shower him with praise, and he didn't want to lose this in a love triangle affair that he never really considered.

"It is not good to keep secrets Sonic. You know this better than anyone. Tell Falco the truth and work it out after we defeat Tsusuki."

Sonic didn't want to tell the truth though. He wanted to come up with a lie on the spot especially when Ike in the real world was pulling him away from Fox's body and he wasn't struggling due to his mental conversation with Yuna.

"I'm sorry Sonic, but we can't waste any more time. You can stay behind while we save Pit and the Goddess but-"

"…There is a way…" Sonic mumbled his voice calmer than intended compared to his previous screaming tantrum. "Falco…you have…to trust me…"

"Trust you on what? What are you going do? Have you been hiding something from me? You did not care about Fox the last time I remember. What went on between you and Fox that he's dead now?"

Sonic pushed himself away from Ike as he walked back to Ike. The leader of the Greil Mercenaries normally would have just grabbed the blue wonder and forced him to stop this nonsense…but given how his voice changed…perhaps he did have a way.

Shadow felt a huge headache coming on and he didn't want to know why.

"Falco…please trust me…it's the only way to save Fox."

"I don't know what I'm supposed to be trusting. I'm not like you who blindly trust your friends!"

"Falco!"

Falco didn't really like the pressure Sonic was putting on him at this moment, but if it was for Fox's sake…

"Yeah whatever. Do whatever it takes."

"…Thank you…and I'm sorry."

"Huh? What are you apologizing for?" The bird boy asked before he noticed that Sonic was glowing. "What in the-"

It took everyone by surprise that Sonic was glowing. The only thing the Smashers could think of was that Yuna was taking over Sonic in this moment to revive Fox, but Shadow noticed that Yuna was doing more than just take over. She was using her magic to achieve what Sonic could do when he had all seven Chaos Emeralds: turn into Super Sonic.

"…Wait…that's not Super Sonic…" Shadow said out loud turning everyone's attention toward him. "Is that…Hyper Sonic?"

"Hyper what?" Ike questioned.

They got to see for themselves. Ike remembered a conversation once at Smash Brothers Mansion that Sonic needed the seven chaos emeralds to transform into Super Sonic at will. Since defeating Eggman the last time, he kept all the emeralds this time around instead of letting his friends hold onto it simply because he wanted to use this ability in Smash. It had proven to be the most effective though as he just needed to ram into you at least twice at zero percent at high speed to KO you. Never did he think Sonic had another transformation.

"…He only transformed into this once according to Knuckles…and it was an accident." Shadow explained. "Back then when the Doctor was less than charismatic and he was desperate to stop Eggman. He came across these Super Emeralds and changed into what is called Hyper Sonic. If Super Sonic wasn't powerful enough, Sonic has another form…" He glared as Sonic's quills started to flash a different color every couple of seconds with his dominant color being white. I have yet to achieve the same results because Knuckles will not tell me where those Super Emeralds are…because as it stands…Sonic is the Ultimate Lifeform…

To Sonic this power was foreign. It never seized to amaze him what Yuna could do even if she was already dead. Slowly, he bent down toward Fox and placed Fox's head onto his lap.

He really does look like he's sleeping. Sonic thought to himself. Yuna…why does it have to be…this way? I feel like I'm having a really bad memory come back by doing this…

"You don't seem to understand the power of love. If your heart is pure, then the curse put on him will surely break. Even if Falco's consent is not so great…it is still consent. Now do the deed for me please."

Yeah…Fox…I'm sorry I'm doing this to you now and Falco I'm sorry I'm doing it in front of you, but it's to save someone's life…dammit!

Closing his eyes, Sonic leaned in and placed his lips on Fox's shocking (and maybe even scaring) everyone. Shadow in that moment had a memory flash before him of someone doing the same thing to Sonic but he shook his head refusing to remember that. Yuna's light flowed through Fox with the kiss as his body was glowing.

"I revoke the curse…I revoke the curse…"

The shadow magic that took control on the inside of Fox's body was forcibly ejected and the light taking over. No longer would Fox have to worry about shrinking again. This was how it was at the beginning before Li attacked him.

Sonic was quick to pull away though and opened his eyes. The power of Hyper Sonic was only temporary so his flashing quills would no longer cause a seizure and returned to the original blue color. His cheeks though were the only thing that remained red as he bowed his head down in shame. The magic was working but he did that in front of everyone…

"Argh…my back…"

"By the gods it worked…" Kaguju mumbled not really convinced the kiss of life was capable of reviving the dead. If it was so easy, he would have done so long ago…

"Fox!" Falco shouted seeing his good buddy back in action. Fox gradually came back to his senses.

"Where…am I? Did I die?"

"You did but you're back with us now!"

"Fal…co?"

The bird boy would look past what just happened with Sonic for this small moment that after being in the trophy so long he could see his friend in the flesh still staying alive. What did Sonic do to allow it?

Fox looked toward the Smashers and angels before glancing toward Sonic who still refused to look him straight in the eyes.

"Sonic…"

"…I…I'm glad you're alive…it worked…thank heavens…"

Fox didn't realize he reached out toward the hedgehog when he fainted. Ike was too slow to catch him. The magic allowed Fox to move swiftly again for this small gesture.

"…That kid…" Falco grumbled. "He better explain why he needed to kiss you to wake you up Fox. I didn't know you liked them younger."

Fox's ear twitched at that insult. Why did Falco have to start shit now? And he didn't even know what Sonic did? Looking to the Smashers, they weren't going to say anything now either.

"I want an explanation when this is all over." Fox grumbled specifically toward Ike.

"Hey, that's my line!"

Ike facepalmed at how these two were.

The group wouldn't be able to relax just yet because some huge power was over them. Kaguju realized this just in time and was probably the one to jump out of the way when a huge negative aura hit the entire palace. Everyone caught in the wave were frozen in place.

"What the?"

Almost immediately, a dark shadow appeared from the main chamber staring down at the angels and Smashers.

"I'll be taking that hedgehog now."

"Li-Li!" Isaak called out as he tried to move but he couldn't move.

The dark angel didn't waste any time to come down next to Sonic. Using his magic, he shoved the leader of Star Fox into the wall and followed up with shoving Falco up on the other side of the room. He smirked hearing the two curses and not being to move from his curse. Li quickly grabbed the hedgehog and carried him under one arm before flying back into the main chamber.

"Hey wait!" Ike called out as he struggled to break free. He wasn't going to let the dark angel run away from him again. Every time he encountered him, Li always had the upper hand and every time he failed to defeat him. Not this time though. Even when Li unleashed his magic on everyone, Ike brushed it off and charged after the dark angel. The royal bodyguards weren't going to let Li get away either and shrugged off his magic rather easily once he ran off. Despite being worn out from their summoning magic they were right behind Ike. Isaak ended up flying past the mercenary in hopes to getting to Li first before anything bad happened to him.

The mysterious angel stayed behind with Ginger and Rita who could not easily break out of the curse that Li casted. He would catch up with the group in due time with a plan in action after lifting the curse of everyone in the room (and healing those who got injured).

The Goddess' chamber was up ahead. Li rushed in not having any time to close the door with his hands full. Ike and Isaak ended up charging the door as it was being closed by someone's magic slowly and broke down the door.

Once everyone made it in after the blonde angel fell down after using his head to crush the door, they heard someone clapping in the room. On the throne where Palutena would sit was Tsusuki patiently waiting for them. Near him was a mirror with the encased Goddess and both angels to his side with the unconscious hedgehog.

"My, my. Well done. Congratulations for getting this far. I would have gotten confetti prepared for you but it got popped beforehand."

There he was; the man who gave Ike hell in the first place. The man who took Soren's body away preventing a proper burial and threw Crimea into hell a second time after defeating the Mad King…Tsusuki was his name. Ike had to hold onto the hilt of his sword to prevent himself from taking it out and ramming it into the villain.

"So you're the bastard that messed up Angel Land!" Pepper cried out as Mcenche and Sun-Wong had to hold her down so she wouldn't do what Ike intended to do: Burn him to the ground! "We're going to beat your ass out of Angel Land for harming our Goddess!"

"We will avenge Roger too you brute!" Isaak added as he loaded his gun right there. Li was in his view and this was his chance to save the day.

Tsusuki just chuckled at the angels in front of him. The more Ike stared at Tsusuki, the more Ike felt his presence before. When he was stricken with grief, he would not have noticed but after what occurred with all the Smashers and being in this man's presence, his eyes widened in horror.

"…Is Tsusuki really your name?" Ike finally asked confusing the angels.

Tsusuki smirked as he mock tilted his head in confusion. "Oh? That is a weird thing to ask when you come into grace of your new God of the heavens."

"Such arrogance!" Pepper continued to decry. "Lady Palutena will get you for that!"

"Pepper!" Himeno shouted causing the fire angel to step down.

When he put everything together, it made since to the mercenary of Tsusuki's identity. He just lacked a few features in his human form.

"Master Hand is called Michiko…" Ike began, "Crazy Hand is called Caito…it really is no brainer when you think about it. You Tsusuki are none other than Tabuu!"

The room fell silent almost immediately. If Pit's mind wasn't lost to Tsusuki's powers, he probably would have screamed at that accusation. Tsusuki frowned as he stood up from his throne. He smirked again looking down at the bluenette.

"You're not as dumb as you look Ike. I guess I should give you more credit."

"! S-So you are…"

Tsusuki only chuckled as he snapped his fingers and familiar colored wings appeared behind them. The wings scared the angels for a different reason but to Ike, it was a confirmation that the Smashers indeed did not finish their mortal enemy.

"Perhaps it would have been best if all the Smashers were brought into the room to see my return." Tabuu said in a mocking tone. "At the end of the day though, I have no room for weaklings. From the beginning, I intended to aim higher, but it wasn't possible with my bombs in Subspace Emissary. I can try again now in this human form with no restrictions from Subspace."

"Says the one who got outsmarted by a penguin king." Ike said in a mocking tone. "We might have been finished if DDD didn't think ahead, and you couldn't even predict Sonic's entrance. You were useless without those wings but I guess they grow back over time."

"You are all week unless together and if I was at full strength, you all would have been lost to the darkness."

Himeno glanced over at Sun-Wong who was honestly thinking about the situation at hand. He must have heard his name before.

"…Now I remember..." Sun-Wong interrupted the frosty banner between the two, "you were a higher being that was punished by Lady Palutena and others. You weren't born in Subspace…you were banished there for crimes."

Tabuu scowled at the earth angel. It wasn't a pleasant memory to have of having the green haired Goddess effortlessly defeated him despite his powers. Now the tides have turned seeing her in the mirror beside the throne.

"That was then, and this is now. That damn Goddess thought she could pull a Medusa on me too? Well that's why I have defeated her by using her beloved angels."

Li flinched at Tabuu's words. Looking at Pit, the white angel lacked an emotional response with Tabuu's grip on his mind.

"The Goddess loves her angel people more than anything. She would do anything to get rid of the problem, but her methods are controversial…not like the angels care." Tabuu said with a laugh. "She banished her own sister by turning her into a monster and she banished me for having a little fun with the angel inhabitants. I wouldn't be surprised if she murdered others and no one bats at an at the Goddess of Light-"

"You have the right to remain silent about Lady Palutena."

That voice came from Aqua who was done mumbling to herself. Tabuu was angering her the more he talked down on the Goddess. As one of the oldest angels in Angel Land, she knew the struggles that Palutena went through and her reactions to all of them when the angels weren't looking.

"And the Silent Maiden finally speaks." He taunted as he gave a fake laugh as a response to her speaking up. "But the Goddess didn't like how I went to the streets of Sandalphon that she loves to neglect and spoke to the angels there. There is only despair in their eyes as they continued to suffer the harsh reality that heaven doesn't welcome all."

The mercenary was puzzled. "What is he talking about?"

"Oh you don't know? Of course you don't. You're not an angel so I'll explain since those royal bodyguards aren't going to glorify Sandalphon as a great place to live. You know not all angels get to live a happy or privileged life in heaven. If they don't they can try to support the Goddess in any shape or form, but if you can't do anything, you're trash."

It's not like the other angels could stop him from ranting on about how horrible Sandalphon was. In this war setting, things got worse for the angels. Pepper was just lucky she could get the people she cared about in her secret base without the demons finding them. Being in an area like Sandalphon will guarantee a visit from death.

"You see when the two sisters ruled, they actually split who watched over what area. The two ruled Evangelion and the palace together but Palutena got Helel and Angelus while Medusa got Lucifer and Sandalphon. Medusa's powers weren't as great as Palutena's so Sandalphon suffered with high crime rates, smuggling from other worlds and poverty, and there was nothing she could do and fix it. No matter how many times these angels prayed, their prayers weren't received by either Goddess. Then again, Medusa neglected her duties and is a failure."

"So you're going to compare the suffering Medusa was going through to that time to equal failure? What does that make you who failed to defeat Palutena the first time and couldn't even bring her on the battlefield the second time? I fail to see the comparison."

The mysterious angel caught up with Ginger and Rita trotting behind him. The purple angel wasn't thrilled with the slander of the Dark Goddess despite what she had done. Tabuu glared at him as he continued.

"Medusa may not have been able to do anything, but she prevented the scale from tipping completely…and without her, Sandalphon would have been thrown to the Underworld by now."

"Like that would have been any better. I'm surprised Sandalphon hasn't rebelled against her for her constant treatment and how both you royal bodyguards and the Angel Assembly refuse to deal with that run down area." He chuckled. "But I come in giving these angels a way out in that hell hole. All I have to do is make pacts with them. With each pact I make with an angel, the more influence I have over this place."

"Too bad it wasn't enough."

"I only needed your precious Captain. He was unique amongst the bunch who continued to love the Goddess despite his family situation. Of course, his darkness was strong enough to manifest into its own persona and it's just as pathetic as him."

"Don't say zat about Li-Li!" The blonde angel shouted. "Li-Li is his own person!"

"! Isaak…"

"His own person you say? Then explain why he needs a half breed to keep his body? Without me he wouldn't be his own person."

"Grr…"

"But with both of these angels' negative energy, along with that hedgehog and these beautiful emeralds, I'll be a fit ruler of the heavens and the universe, wouldn't you say?"

Ike had to recall that yes during the fiasco, the chaos emeralds were being taken up until the point where they were all in the villain's hands by the time anyone noticed. Pit did not hesitate to grab the blue wonder when Tsusuki raised his hand signaling Pit to move.

"Perhaps I shall demonstrate my powers." He hummed as he snapped his fingers creating a huge blue sphere that hovered in the air. The angel wasted no time throwing Sonic into it. The barrier started to branch out from the inside and hold Sonic into the air.

"Good my puppet. That's what you do best. Now you'll help me conquer your home world."

"Shut up." Ike finally snapped. "Your words are starting to get annoying. I won't let you repeat another tragedy again Tabuu. I swear on Ragnell that I will end your tyranny."

"Hah. That's rich. Go ahead and try." Tabuu hummed. "My precious Captain, go kill them."

The angel glanced at his master with an emotionless expression before slowly turning to face them. Li showed concerned for his lighter half but no actions were taken.

Ike glimpsed at the royal bodyguards and could tell with the battle with Medusa combined with all the flying/running, he needed them to rest against Pit. It wouldn't stop them from all teaming up to attack Tabuu though because they had every intention of battling him despite fatigue.

"Ike," Himeno began as she opened her fan. "Please our Captain. We will do our best to distract Tabuu."

"Zat means don't go after Li-Li until you save our Captain." Isaak retorted to the bluenette seeing as how Ike had a poor history with the dark angel as of late.

"Yeah…I know…" He smirked as he swung his sword before him. "Let's go everyone. This madness ends now!"

Me: TBC 4905 with words.

Li: This entire time that bastard was…

Me: TSUSUKI IS TABUU. How could anyone not see that with how I named Master and Crazy Hand? Me creating my own villain for this story? Please! That's not how mystery novels work! Li showing up was a palette swap of Pit so technically in the game along with Dark Link. When you understand my obsession with Umineko and how the villain has to be someone in the Smash Brothers universe (and remember all the characters that the cast had fought have been either represented in their own game or were Subspace Emissary bosses. Remember…

1. Shadow and Samus fought Ridley who got upgraded to Omega Ridley.

2. Lucas and Marth fought Porky.

3. Gary captured Rayquaza.

4. Ash battled his father (since it's just a fan theory of who his father is and how we will never know who he is).

5. Sonic deals with Alex Kidd who has been working under Li.

6. Isaac battled Grey Fox (did poorly) and Snake ended up doing most of the work.

7. Then you got all the Kid Icarus bosses: Twinbellows, Hewdraw, Pandora and Medusa.

With this battle, Tabuu being the final boss should have been apparent. Notes!

1. So Sonic turning into Hyper Sonic might seem hard to believe but you got to remember with how Yuna is inside of him, he doesn't need the Super Emeralds. Of course, it takes more out of him hence why he can faint more easily.

2. Yes I repeated the Sonic 06 scene which is why Shadow was having shivers. It is adorable…better for two animals to kiss than a human kissing a…dead hedgehog…

Li: Wasn't Fox dead?

Me: Don't know what you're talking about.

3. I think I brought up in my other Fanfiction or replaced the dialogue in chapter 12 about Aqua's backstory on how Pit didn't believe that Aqua was telling the truth back then looking back. Here I am confirming that it was a pile of bullocks because she is one of the longest angels living in Angel Land (more than 2000 years).

4. Tabuu's motive as shown above was to get at Palutena. She was the only non-playable character who could keep track of what was going on. His goal was to lure her out and defeat her. If Palutena is defeated, he gets the entire realm without much resistance. Palutena sent Pit though and Pit proved to be a nuisance but given Pit doesn't talk to Palutena in SSE, their lack of communication preventing Palutena from strategizing. Of course, it's easy to say Tabuu prevented such thing in SSE to make Pit think for himself (and Pit isn't that smart).
