Chapter 10: New friends, training, and memories

I walked out into the yard and stretched high to the sky. I sighed in the crisp, early morning. My few days are up, so I got to head back to Master Roshi's place for training. I called Kintoun, hoping it would come. I left a note on Bulma's night stand that I went back to train and thanked her for her hospitality. Soon, the yellow cloud came flying down. I hopped on and started to fly.

I passed over the ocean to the island that was supposed to hold Master Roshi's pink house. I jumped down and sniffed the air, sea water and very faint Goku. They are gone for the few days I was at Bulma's. I jumped back onto the Kintoun and directed it to the large island I saw in the distance when flying by.

I landed when I saw the hot pink house. I looked through the window to see if they were still there. They were, just looking like they are recovering from sickness. I came into through the door to see if Goku was among them. I sighed with relief when I didn't see him with them.

I looked around and sniffed about. I was lead outside.

"KAGOME! YOU'RE BACK!"

I was tackled in a bear hug to the ground by my little brother onto the porch. I laughed and hugged him too.

"Hey there Goku! How've you been while I was gone."

He told me of the price for training that Master Roshi asked for, a girl. I asked why, but Goku didn't know either. He told me about his new friend Krillian, Launch, and the stone test. I frowned at Krillian's deceit but listened on his story. Apparently, Launch didn't know enough about her fish and used puffer fish meat in her stew. I heard Goku's stomach roar. I smiled and ruffled his hair.

I stood and beckoned Goku to sit on the table. I made soup and rice. It took a while for the soup to simmer, so I went out to find some herbs to help with the paralyzing poison our companions ate. I came back to see everyone at the table. I smiled and patted Goku's head on the way to the kitchen. I turned off the stove after rinsing the herbs and dropping the herbs in to seep.

After a few minutes, I scooped them out and ladled the soup into bowls. I put the bowls on a tray. I went to the table and heard the rice maker ding. I went back to place it next to me. I served with the rice bowls. I heard their thanks and when they started to eat, they were looking better with every bite and slurp.

I heard gratitude and introductions. Goku must have talked about me for them recognize me, somewhat.

I went through the run 7.5 seconds. I saw their disbelieving faces. I smiled, but said I still have more to go. Master threw the rock he used a few days ago.

I unknowingly did the same as Goku: I jumped the cliff into the forest. I just had a sturdier branch to catch. I found the rock using my nose, like Goku surprise, surprise. I came back a few hours later, scuffed up and dirty. Launch sort of lectured me a bit on being proper lady. I didn't understand most of it.

We rearranged the sleeping arrangements: the boys downstairs on futons, Me and launch the bed upstairs.

The next morning I woke up from Master Roshi's steps. I noticed that Launch sneezed last night. I could tell by the change of hair color. They, uh, warned me last night about that. I slipped from bed silently in my usual tube top and shorts. I made to the dresser bending down on my knees. My hair covers my figure, unknowingly like a curtain from Master's sight.

I turned to the door and opened it to find Master in front of it sweating bullets. I frowned. He was in my way. He suddenly stood up and told me it was a perfect day to train. I smiled giddily and dragged Master along with me down stairs to meet Goku and Krillian.

We stood outside in a line, eager to learn. Master gave a speech I understood, but Master had to simplify it for Goku. I huffed at Krillian for his comment at Goku and swatted him for good measure.

We started to run lightly until we came into town in front of the milk delivery company. We stood to the side as Master talked to the goat man about the milk delivery routes. We each grabbed a box full of milk bottles as Master instructed us.

We started to skip along a route Master was leading. We got to our first house. Krillian was panting as he replaced the bottle. The rest of us were fine.

Soon we came to a path lined with trees. We zig-zagged through them, Master first, I was second; Goku was behind me, and finally Krillian coming up last, still panting and getting slower.

We came to a mountain of stairs, literally. I was past Master but I heard what his conversation was with Goku. I smiled softly and headed onward. I replaced the milk of a temple man's box. I stared at the shrine.

Mom! I'm going to school!

What? What are these images? Are they day dreams?

I left the door to walk across the shrine heading toward the stairs, but I saw my brother standing in front of the well house.

Brother? But he doesn't look like Goku. What's his name?

Curious, I walked over to him and placed my bag in the porch.

"Hey, you know you're not suppose to play in there."

He turned towards me with a worried expression. He also had a bowl full of cat food in it.

My breath caught. He looked just like me.

"I know, but Buyo's down there and he won't come out. Buyo~"

I crouched down to his height and placed my hand on the side of my cheek with my elbow resting on my knee. I was wearing a green sqrit.

"Well, then go down there"

"but it's scary down there"

I can feel myself roll my eyes and started to head down the rickety stairs.

I blinked a bit when felt a tug on my clothing. I looked down with dazed eyes to see Goku, worried. I smiled slightly and kneeled down to his height. I ruffled his hair, my smiled turned reassuring. I stood and followed Master Roshi after giving the Monk I didn't notice proper greetings and farewells. This monk was round and jolly in orange and black standard robes. An image of a taller and more muscular Monk came to stand beside him. He was wearing deep purple and black robes with a rosary and purple cloth on his right hand.

I shook my head as I continued training. Yeah, I need to focus on that. Training went swiftly. I did get stares from the construction workers. I did get a strange looks from Krillian and Master Roshi when we were to swim the lake. I wore my tube top and shorts while the boys were in their birthday suits.

Krillain was flushed red and asked why I wasn't embarrassed. I told him that back in the mountains that Goku and I would bathe in the near-by hot springs together so it didn't bother me to see him. He was just like Goku after all, you know except the personality.

The study time was cut short on my part since I got mostly educated by Grandpa, so Master Roshi told me I'll be getting lessons from Launch while he worked on the boys. Launch just taught me how to cook different dishes, sewing, and other stuff that may come in handy. (the feminine stuffs since Kagome is more tomboy and being a warrior can do that to a girl)

The end of the day, we had to dodge bees while being tied to a tree. I got the least stings compared to the boy's red, swollen warts. I did notice Master had one on the back of his head.

That night after dinner, we all went to bed. I laid there on the bed staring out the window at the full moon. I wouldn't change since my tail hasn't grown back yet. I finally got rest from my thoughts on the images earlier. I had a thought before I was fully asleep.

Who were they and what were their names?
