Chapter 49: Passion After the Battle
Many have forgotten that Palutena was a Goddess that was capable of defending herself and passing judgment on those who harm the worlds she protected. She was the daughter of the king of the Gods so it was only natural that she was good in many fields with fighting being no exception. She was a heroine 2000 years and it would continue on when she delivered the final blow. Her staff that took the form of her customized sword impaled Tabuu through the chest. She missed his vital organs when she stabbed him. Pulling her sword out, she used her own magic to slowly bring herself back to her realm.
"Impossible…I lost…" Tabuu mumbled as he ended up falling into a pool of his own blood. The battle prevented him from moving or even pulling a back attack on the green haired Goddess. "But no matter…you lost…your precious Captain in both forms. Do you think…you'll recover without them by your side?"
Palutena wouldn't take the bait. Sacrifices had to be made to win the war…even if she were to lose the most important angels in her life regardless of how much suffering they put her through. Her fists were shaking in fury. If she killed him right here, Tabuu would have won, but she wouldn't get the Smashers who sacrificed themselves back. It wasn't fair! Even though she loved all the royal bodyguards, Pit and Li specifically were like sons to her. They were irreplaceable with how much time she spent raising them as her own. As a Goddess swearing chastity, it was painful to not understand what it would be like to have children of your own. She got that chance with all the angels…but with her favorites gone…she failed them as a mother…
A light suddenly radiated inside Subspace. Staring into the light, Palutena could feel a beautiful melody resonate in the area. Was it…Yuna?
"Yuna…" Palutena spoke. "Why are you…"
"I'm giving back everything to you Lady Palutena. Her voice spoke calmly. Your friends…your family…everything…"
"But your life…"
"You should not worry about that. I passed on a long time ago but never ascended to a higher plane. Sonic…by chance gave me a chance to live a temporary life inside of him, but I must leave. Valefor is not his summon…but with Tabuu killing off the summons…I must take them all to a higher plane…to my world's Farplane to allow them all to rest in peace. In exchange I grant the angels a guarantee chance of surviving the injuries of this battle in hopes they grow stronger to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again. Please let me do this…it's the least I can do."
The Goddess nodded her head slowly as Yuna's warm light radiated Subspace. All the Smashers that had died in the nothingness of this darkness were slowly regaining their physical form. Palutena prevented herself from crying tears of joy seeing Pit and Li coming back…the latter is a bigger surprise given he lost his body years ago to the darkness.
However Yuna was not as strong as she used to be. It showed with how sluggish the resurrection process was. She might not even be able to revive them after all. Maybe they shouldn't get their hopes up.
Palutena felt something light land on her head. When she tilted her head a golden butterfly took off and flew toward Pit. The darkness soon became lit with a golden color as the little insects appeared out of nothingness to support Yuna's revival magic. The Goddess of Light could only gasp at the power that was being destroyed with these little creatures. It wasn't just her that was surprised but Tabuu was as well.
"The Golden Land…here?" He choked. "How…the door…cannot be reached by those ingrates!"
Palutena could only smile now at the Golden Land's assistance. She didn't ask for their help for the war because she didn't want to disturb them. For them to assist without asking showed their kindness and generosity, but she would have to repay them later.
The magic allowed Yuna to complete her resurrection spell to revive the Smashers and Li. Although they were unconscious, they were alive and that was all that mattered.
"Impossible! Inconceivable! Why now?!"
There was more magic coming into Subspace Emissary. This was Rosalina due to the star bits showering from above.
"Take us back to my palace Rosalina." Palutena ordered as she raised her staff in the air.
Everyone was taken back to Palutena's throne room where the angels and Smashers anticipated the victory of the Goddess and the Smashers. Himeno didn't hesitate to rush toward Pit and Li the minute they returned though, injuries be damned.
"Centurions, I command you to take these men to my division right away! I cannot treat them here!"
With all the Centurions freed between the time Tabuu was pushed back toward the door and the time it took to defeat him, they could follow orders and expect nothing in return. The big muscular guys surprised many of the Smashers given they showed up immediately after they heard Himeno's voice.
"Yes princess!" They shouted as they got stretchers out and lifted the unconscious Smashers out of the room. Pit and Li were handled more gently then say Ike or Fox given how they were the Captain and his brother.
"How are the demons?" Palutena questioned Kaguju immediately seeing as he was the first one to be by her side when she came back (Sun-Wong was slacking).
"They all ran back to hell." Kaguju said with a smile. "Once Tabuu was gone, they scurried back to their little holes…if the archangels didn't kill them first."
Palutena raised an eyebrow suspicious of Kaguju's words. "Oh?"
"Didn't you hear? They finally made it after everything was over. Aren't they great?"
Now she felt her eye twitching in frustration. Where the hell were the archangels at a time like this?!
"We're here~"
Speak of the devil. Centurions were being pushed away by a youthful and effeminate looking angel with spiky dark blue hair and blue eyes. His outfit was as Greek you could get especially with how he styled is tunic. What stood out was how he had four (dark blue) wings instead of two like the normal angel. He obviously wasn't the leader but he enjoyed making himself out to be especially since the real leader was hiding behind the other two archangels coming in.
The one that was dragging the leader's arm was a tall man with short haired redhead with brown hair. His outfit was identical to that of Germany during World War II. It was a weird way to style your outfit based on a nation during a horrible time in history. That probably was intended to make himself look intimidating. With how he was raising his voice at the leader to stop being a pussy and to face the Goddess head on, it was working. His four wings were red.
"We're here."
The one that spoke up again was the only girl of the group. She was short so she stood out because of that. She had blue hair left in a ponytail and blue eyes (and four blue wings). The girl didn't have matching earrings…one was a kunai and another was a shuriken. Her outfit was styled after ninjas in the Sengoku era. At this point it was apparent that the archangels decided on a theme of a certain history period and stuck with it to make them all stand out.
"Michael, stop fucking hiding behind me!" The redhead shouted as he finally lost his patience with the leader and threw him out toward where the Goddess was standing.
The leader appeared very fragile despite being nearly as tall as his redhead comrade. The color of his messy hair was difficult to determine. Was it black, brown or a dark shade of green? It depended on the lighting of the room but his eyes were definitely gold. His outfit was that of an Italian gentleman especially with his black top hat. He looked the most refined of the group with how shiny his suit was. His wings were different though. He had three normal angel wings but the last one was incredibly small. It almost looked like a horrible handicap (and it was). He looked ready to break down in tears upon being under Palutena's ruthless gaze.
"I…I'm so sorry for arriving late…we were held up by the demons in the human world…so we couldn't get to Angel Land on time!" He shrieked as he bowed. "I didn't mean for things to get this bad! I failed as an archangel! I'll do whatever it takes to make it up to you Lady Palutena!"
"…Did I mention they killed every demon in the human world so they couldn't retreat?" Kaguju whispered to the Goddess with a smirk.
"No, but I'm not surprised." Palutena responded before sighing. If only they killed all the demons in heaven then Tabuu wouldn't have had gotten this far in the first place.
"It's convenient for the game breakers of Angel Land to be conveniently left out until the end." The soon to be judge taunted as the four archangels stood up straight immediately seeing the judge. The redhead tried not to laugh seeing what happened to his hair. "As the judge of the Angel Assembly, I command you four to arrest this crook."
"I'm still alive." Abbigale grumbled behind the silver haired angel. "I may be old but I'm going to live another 4000 years before I give the position to you."
The spiky haired bluenette chuckled seeing the judge getting scolded earning a menacing glare from the one eyed angel.
"Well what are you waiting for? Arrest this scumbag."
"Offer him a sacrifice to the Golden Land." The redhead snarked as all four of the archangels immediately pointed their weapons toward Tabuu. He was too weak to even move but now with the archangels here, the probability of escape dropped below zero.
Valerie laughed seeing the redhead force the weakened demon to stand up so they can drag him to the cell in the Angel Assembly where they can put a power limiter around his neck and chain him to the wall. Walking over to Tabuu he put his best innocent (but rather sinister) smile and spoke.
"Remember how I said I would punish you when this is all over? Well I'm going to make sure your ass goes to court and you get the death sentence. No one cuts my hair and gets away with it."
Palutena let out an even bigger sigh by this threat followed by Kaguju laughing nervously. For all the things Tabuu has done, Valerie was the most enraged at his hair being cut off. He still had his ponytail and he wouldn't have to put that much effort into maintaining his hair so why bother? Especially since it was Pit under Tabuu's mind control that cut it off…maybe Pit wouldn't be spared either given how Valerie takes an offense to anyone messing with his hair…
"Archangels, take this pathetic demon away. I have a little brother to check on and an Angel Assembly to run."
It was mainly the girl and the redhead seizing Tabuu by each arm and leading him away when he couldn't walk. That left the other two archangels in the room waiting for orders.
"Rafael, go assist Himeno in healing. Michael, please go help the Smashers."
"Y-Yes!" Michael responded as he was quick to bow his hat to the Goddess before rushing out leaving Rafael who just sighed.
"What about your arm? If you leave it as it is, its going to take forever to heal."
Valerie forgot that Pit stabbed him in the arm. He forced himself not to think about it and worry about the situation in front of him. "I can wait. Help Lady Palutena and Abbigale if they're injured."
"What about me?" Kaguju asked.
"You can go fuck yourself for letting my hair be cut in the first place."
"Ouch. The judge is so cruel. I hope I don't get arrested for standing by and watching."
"You will if you don't help out and do your damn part."
"Oww…Lady Palutena-"
"You stood there." Palutena grumbled agreeing with the young judge. "I could see everything while inside the mirror remember? Next time please don't make your appearance apparent to me or I'm going to spank you the next time you think it's a good idea to just sit down and observe."
"Your welcome…" The purple angel mumbled with a sigh of defeat. He got no respect around here…
By the time the Captain awoken from his slumber, it was already sunset. The angel shot up out of his bed gasping for breath.
What happened? He asked himself as he clutched his chest. Looking down, he noticed he was in the 4th division hospital bed. The angel closed his eyes trying to remember what happened. Everyone helped him break free from the curse he had…they saved Li and then Palutena and Kaguju used their magic to send Tabuu back to Subspace where he, Ike, Sonic, Fox and Marth were the bait before his Goddess could take him out. They all got eliminated one by one and when Pit was the last one, Li assisted him in the final battle where they both died protecting Lady Palutena.
Li!
Normally his Goddess, the man he loved and his friends would have been top priority but in a situation like this when he remembered that Li had no form and could have had a permanent death, he had every right to panic.
Fortunately, he couldn't jump out of the bed because something was attached to his arm. Glancing at it, it looked like an IV used for blood transfusion.
This is…
Slowly, he turned to where the machine was connected. There was another body with the same IV injected into him with the blood bag in the middle. His eyes widened in surprise.
"Li…"
The monitor showed that his dark side was in stable condition and was just sleeping. What happened? Was he dying and needed Pit's blood or was it the other way around?
More importantly, Li had his own body back…and then something of the essence came to mind after the sigh of relief that Li was alive and was going to make it another day.
"He's back…" Pit mumbled feeling something fall down his cheek when he began shaking. "He's back home…with us…thank god!"
The angel wouldn't even have time to shed tears for his brother's return with a light knock at the door. Why would anyone knock if he and Li were unconscious for a while? Unless…
"…You can come in Valerie…"
There was only one person Pit was aware of besides his Goddess that could sense when someone woke up and that was Valerie. His psychic powers were amazing being able to sense the aura of other angels from a distant. If the angel just woke up just now and he rushed to be by the angel's side to greet him then he set a new record.
The judge came in through the door making sure to close the door softly. The angel chuckled at how serious he was given how he was acting during the final battle.
"Captain Pit, you are finally awake. I was wondering how much longer you would sleep."
"…How long have I been asleep?" The white angel asked as the judge grabbed a nearby stool to sit down next to his Captain.
"A week."
"A week?!"
Valerie glared at the Captain for raising his voice in a quiet area. The angel frowned being lectured by the judge.
"Yes a week…we assumed because you and Lived were connected that it would take longer for you to wake up. Himeno connected you two together to make sure you would both survive. When you weren't connected…Lived might not have made it. Himeno knew it was risky but she did it anyway."
The angel stayed still as Valerie explained the situation. He would do anything to make sure Lived got another chance at life after the angel took it away from him that time. Never again…
"I have more news to inform you." The judge continued with an evil smile on his face. "Tabuu will never mess with us ever again."
"What did you guys…do?"
"Lady Palutena didn't banish him this time around. The archangels arrested him and he was tried to the highest order. You know what that means."
"…Execution."
"Correct. If you woke up sooner, you would have gotten to see the look on his face."
"…You were always a sadist Valerie."
"Justice was served Captain. My hair and those who have died have been avenged with his swift death."
And he puts his hair before the dead people. Pit thought to himself as he shook his head. Looking at Valerie's hair, it was obvious he had to comb it out to look presentable…and he looked better with short hair with a pigtail anyway. He looked less girly that way.
"So…how are the Smashers? Ike…Sonic…Red…are they okay?"
"Oh they're fine. Apparently those who went with you were put back together with the assistance of the Golden Land although I think the Summoner Yuna passed on after such a feat in Subspace Emissary."
"She did…didn't she?"
The two were silent for a bit. Pit wished he could have thanked her for all she had done in the short amount of time she was in Sonic's body. Even at the end she was thinking of their victory…
"I'm glad those warriors from other realms came and assisted us." Valerie mumbled. The brunette glanced at the judge who was blushing at this point. "Sure the Angel Assembly and I could have taken Tabuu down and the archangels would have done their thing eventually but…our casualties would have been higher…if it weren't for them. They did most of the fighting for us according to Pepper…"
"Pepper is a slave driver…she'll always come up with the way to do the least amount of work even in times of war. You should have seen the stuff she had me do when we went get that damn Chocobo and made it the gold thing it was today."
"Well you two made an accomplishment getting a gold Chocobo in a month when it takes years to get those birds to walk over water."
Pit…really didn't want to think of the hell Pepper put him through for that damn bird. Gabriel needed to keep it on a leash if the fire angel refused to do so. She was good with animals after all…
There was suddenly a crash coming from the other room followed by some German swear words. The two could feel a huge migraine coming hearing the familiar voice complaining about the treatment he was getting from the medics.
"Isaak should have died…" Valerie grumbled. "He's been like that all week wanting to leave to see Lived."
"I'm surprised I didn't hear his obnoxious voice…" The white angel added. Why were the royal bodyguards nothing but a nuisance to him? Well…he wouldn't have been able to break free without wanting to save them. They were his family. Perhaps they should all blame Lady Palutena for raising them to be annoying.
"…Do you think I can leave the room? I mean…Li looks stable."
"Yeah your brother is stable. Why do you want to leave?"
"I…need to see Ike…" Pit told himself more than the silver haired angel. "I need…to tell him something important…"
"If it's the big guy, he's talking to Lady Palutena now, but I don't think you should leave because of your injuries but…hey!"
The angel jumped out of the bed without warning. He could have pulled Dark Pit from his bed if Valerie wasn't using his psychic powers to remove the IV from Pit's arm.
"I'll be right back! It won't take that long!"
Pit rushed out of the room way before Valerie could pull him back in with his psychic powers. He had to make sure Li didn't go unstable with how Pit violently left.
The Goddess of Light was on a reviving spree. Apparently, she made a deal with the Golden Land. Due to Tabuu's connection with those…children, they had to make things right. People who weren't supposed to die could be revived. Smashers could also see beings who have died in the past temporary before moving on.
For Palutena this meant reviving people like Toon Link who had an untimely death and was needed to continue the Hyrule Timeline according to one of the witches. This was a big deal for Link who thought he lost his little self again. Unfortunately, Young Link couldn't be revived due to how far back he died (and it kept a stable time loop according to the Golden Land for whatever reason).
Lucario was one of the few Smashers who could go to a special place in Angel Land and meet his beloved trainer Sir Auron. Now Wolf remembered Lucario speaking fondly of his master and after all of this time, he could finally apologize to his master for misjudging his actions. Wolf was almost jealous of how close the two were…and given Auron was an angel now who couldn't visit Lucario according to angel laws, this meeting in heaven was a blessing. In fact, it was Sir Auron that gave Lucario the chance at another life after saving Ash and his friends along with Mew.
Lucas was the other Smasher who could reunite with his family. They weren't in the same situation as Sir Auron was though so his meeting was rather…ambiguous according to Ness who just watched from the sidelines. His family…might have already passed on…but this worried Ness because of how Lucas was taking to seeing his family and friends. What…happened to his world?
But there are those who couldn't be brought back for some unforeseen reason (or the Golden Land was being too lazy in all honesty). Marth was fine though with not being able to see his parents again (they weren't in Angel Land for some strange reason but this might be because Angel Land was divided into five sections and they weren't in the center of it all). Angel wise, Roger could not be brought back to life. His death was final…but according to Palutena, his body was given to Lived to continue living a normal angelic life with his friends again. The sacrifice was incredibly noble because he gave up his chances for reincarnation for the dark angel…and once Li woke up, he would find that out the hard way.
Ike was the one who the most blessed by this option though. Palutena was speaking to him now about reviving Soren. She could not revive Ike's parents (again due to the Golden Land not wanting to mess with the timeline and this saddened Ike who knew his father's revival would set things right for the group) but she could revive Soren who was needed in the Greil Mercenary camp. His death was untimely and it wasn't too far off. Ike was so thrilled at the idea that his friend would come back, that he didn't realize that he came off as too…happy according to Pit who was able to hear the conversation behind the Goddess' chamber. The angel felt his heart sank with how joyful Ike sounded. His best friend and first love would come back…and here he was being pushed in the back now that Ike had no reason to love him…
The angel hated this…but it solidified the angel's decision.
"Soren!" The angel could hear Ike cry out as Pit felt Palutena use her grand magic as a reward for his heroic deed.
Pit looked through the door now to see the bluenette embracing the dazed tactician. The angel's eyes widened seeing tears start to flow from his eyes. Ike never cried…not in front of everyone from what Pit remembered…but now…
"Ike…what…happened…is Crimea…"
"Everything is okay now Soren…you came back to me…I'm so sorry!"
"Ike…"
"I failed to protect you! I won't let you die again!"
"Ike I…"
Palutena glanced at the door and noticed her faithful angel witnessing the scene. Pit found the floor of the palace the best place to look. Slowly, he backed up and sauntered away. This was no place for Pit to barge in and ruin the moment.
From the beginning, he knew he had no chances with Ike. Ike was this human he could never dream to be with. No matter how much he tried to win his heart and no matter what he did, Soren was still number one in Pit's heart. Pit was only a replacement until a miracle like this happened. Jealousy came rearing its ugly head but what could he ask for? Ike was still important to him…but nothing was going to happen in the end. The tournament would be over and they would all have to go home. Years past differently in each world so while time would be short for Pit, it could be years for Ike and that man could have already moved on. With how many suitors he had in his home world, it was a miracle that Pit got his attention for so long.
I guess I should let him go. Pit thought as he stopped to rub his eyes with his arm. He wasn't going to cry when he saw this coming. He got his hopes up and even with Ike acknowledging him being an Amail (despite getting the definition completely wrong)…it amounted to nothing but heartbreak…
I guess I can't tell him after all…
Palutena held a feast for the Smashers on the last day before she and Rosalina would send them all back to their worlds. The Smash Brothers Mansion was in shambles and would not be repaired until the next season. Everyone could appreciate that their universe was still intact without Tabuu trying to ruin it again. To the Smashers, this was the last time they would hang out before going their separate ways again…and this time around, Master Hand wouldn't let people who didn't make it in come back to the mansion. Even though Roy apologized to Master and Crazy (who came to help the angels rebuild certain portions of their land), Master made the decision that if you weren't in Smash, you couldn't stay at the mansion anymore.
This would effectively end Marth and Roy's relationship after all they been through. Roy still had hope to get back in but Lyn saw his chances go straight to zero after angering Master Hand twice. Marth was really starting to question Master Hand's tolerance for the fire swordsman…
Regardless this was a time of happiness…and yet Pit and Li were still stuck in bed. Li continued to sleep through the party (and it was better anyway since he might have gotten backlash for what he had done). Valerie had every intention of locking Pit away but seeing his Captain depressed over the lack of telling Ike his feelings. Valerie understood Pit's love problems and left the angel alone. With Valerie gone though, Pit snuck out again in hopes to finding the one person he needed to talk to and beat some sense into.
That person was Soren. The Greil Mercenaries were thrilled to have him alive again. Even Shinon who hated his guts was happy that he was back because he didn't have to drink excessively for the lack of someone to hate. Gatrie of course translated Shinon's word that he was equally exultant for Soren's return. Soren however could not believe he was given another chance at life with all that had happened. It felt like a dream to him to be embraced by the man he loved and showered with praise from everyone else that he never looked at twice.
This was too much for him and he had to excuse himself. He heard from the wind angel that there was a garden in her division where he could get fresh hair. That was what he intended to do…except there was a white angel sitting on the bench anticipating his visit.
"…You…"
"I look like the one who killed you, I know." Pit said with a laugh as he turned around. Soren was worried for a moment. His killer had black wings but this boy had white wings…and resembled a heron than those damn crowd, "and even though I would like to finish what my brother started, that's not what I'm here for."
Soren stepped back as the angel stepped forward with a menacing expression. He said he wouldn't finish the job but his face didn't match his words at all. Was this really a dream after all and this was the part he would be killed?
The angel stopped in front of Soren to examine the Branded. The more he looked at him, the more Pit's heart hurt. Soren was everything he was…and Ike accepted Soren…and took the time to accept him. He was a half breed…Pit…wasn't in reality. Li didn't understand what an Amail was…but the definition of Amail was worse than what Li described it as. Ike couldn't handle the definition Li gave him…what would make him accept Pit's real identity?
"You are a fortunate one. Here you are with the most handsome guy in all of Tellius. You were the one that stole his heart. You were the one that made him cry not once but twice. You were the one who allowed me to encounter him in the fight against Tabuu. You gave me the chance to know who Ike was…and you were lucky enough that the all loving Goddess is giving you a second chance at life to be with him leaving me with the unfortunate side effect of heartbreak. You're everything I hate half breed."
Soren took offense to this. All the other angels were pleasant to be around…well most of them as some of them were just annoying to deal with but this angel…was just as nasty as the dark winged one that looked like him.
"And yet…I know at the end when Lady Palutena is finished putting the worlds back together, I have no chance with him. I'll be aging ever so slowly while he might be dead by the time of the next tournament. This should be my chance to steal him away from you. This should be my chance to kill you again and show you that you can't have him after all I have been through…no one understands the pain I had before Ike…but that would be lying to myself. I want Ike…but I don't need him…he needs you though…and that's why…I want you to take good care of him when you humans go back home."
Soren was taken aback by those words. After all of that criticism, that's what the angel was telling him?
"I can only be his guardian angel now. If he dies before his time, I will come for you like the Grim Reaper and make sure you two will never meet each other in reincarnation again. Do you understand me?"
Soren was at a loss of words. Pit was surprised with himself too at how he was taking charge of this situation…but he knew his idea of cutting ties with Ike was worthless. He just wanted to stop himself from being hurt again and hopefully find someone that would not destroy him in the future. The angel walked past Soren before he could even give Pit a definite answer. Pit didn't need the answer; he just wanted to vent to the one person that have effectively killed any chance of him loving again.
I'm an idiot…sorry Ike.
The next day, Palutena finished repairing the worlds so they could all go back home. The angels saluted the Smashers as they all gave their hugs, kisses and good-byes to each other hoping to see each other again when the fourth tournament came around. The family would be bigger…but to Pit…nothing was going to get better for him when he saw Ike leave with the people he loved and trusted with all of his heart. The angel refused to cry though. It would be undignified as a captain to do so. Of course, Sonic and Red were his best friends so he could cry for them. They were all going to make it next time hopefully if nothing killed them.
After waving everyone off, Palutena placed a hand on Pit's shoulder.
"Pit…I'm sorry…"
"Don't be Lady Palutena." The angel said as he turned to the other angels who weren't in the hospital bed still. "Everyone, we have a heaven to rebuild. There is no time to think or any time to waste. We need to make this place beautiful again and with me back in the game, we're going to get a better Angel Land than we ever had before. Who is with me?!"
The other angels and Centurions cheered for Pit's motivated spirit unaware the angel was dying inside…but he couldn't think of Ike anymore. He had to look to the future…a future where Ike was not involved…
Me: TBC with 6838 words.
Li: And I'm asleep the entire chapter with no conclusion with how Isaak and I are like.
Me: You two are fine. You guys have so much sexual tension that it wouldn't matter if you made up. You would end up fighting again. Notes!
1. Couldn't even make it through the fucking story without bringing up the Golden Land. They are tied to almost all of my stories at this point but in this one they don't do anything except create the miracle of bringing people back to life…very convenient but they're capable of that along with Palutena given she is a Goddess. I should also bring up that I developed a headcanon when the Golden Land was written that Tabuu was from the same realm. Subspace implies nothingness and is just the worse part of the Golden Land and why Tabuu has butterfly wings…just like the Golden Land motif and Tabuu is an extension of the Golden Land's power. To put it simply, he was banished from the Golden Land and led a life of isolation before deciding to take everything into Subspace to get back at everyone. This is how he was able to make a pact with Pit as well. Angels and Summoners are the closest to the Golden Land witches and sorcerers so by proxy, Tabuu tricked Pit into making a pact and creating Pittoo in this story (thus no need for the Mirror of Truth). His off stage execution implies that if he was in the 4th Smash Brothers as a boss implied he wasn't killed or is a permanent death if he isn't coming back. But as shown in story mode, Sonic breaking his wings is what cuts his power in half. The Golden Land witches/sorcerers don't necessary have butterfly wings but they have the entire Golden Land at their side so what Tabuu does is only half of the power the Golden Land has. This is also why Palutena in story mode sent Pit to deal with him; she knew what he was capable of. This is also why she's the one who ends up dealing the final blow to him.
2. The archangels only show up now because they are so overpowered…Michael especially. The only way to come in is when everything is over and even then they can kill a lot of demons off screen.
3. Kaguju and Palutena have a complicated relationship too. His identity is still mysterious but it should be obvious at this point he's no ordinary angel.
4. The people who got resurrected are based on the Golden Land being bias. Toon Link has to be revived (and he wasn't going to be originally) due to being playable in the new Smash Brothers (and since this is the link who went off with Tetra at the end of Wind Waker). Marth's parents wouldn't be revived because it would screw with his timeline AKA he wouldn't be a hero if he wasn't put through hardship. This applies to Ike as well where the Greil Mercenaries wouldn't be closer without Greil's death. Yet because Soren's death was not in the timeline of Path of Radiance, he could be brought back. You have to remember Prism and Raven specifically can look at timelines, alternate universes and bad endings and figure out how to prevent it according to Higanbana hence the obvious bias on who can be brought back.
This leaves Lucas' fate ambiguous given how his fate in Smash Brothers isn't looking too good and how his ending was a mind screw.
5. There are five portions of Angel Land. The middle is the Kid Icarus universe where all the fighting was taking place. The archangels were implied to be in another heaven and its human world to deal with demons. Those who recall, Celestia and the Queens' Blade universe are two more heavens so if a character's family is missing in the Kid Icarus universe, they might be in the other heavens.
6. Pit misinterpreted the entire dialogue exchange with Ike and Soren. Recall in chapter 22 where Ike said Pit was the most important to him now. Just because he's hugging and crying Soren doesn't mean his romantic love for Soren is still there. Pit just assumes that with all that had happened. Soren still loves Ike but it's not the same. Pit wouldn't even let Soren talk and give an answer to understand what was going on in his mind. With this attitude in mind though, Ike will probably not even realize Pit was going through hell if they were to meet each other again. Expect in the epilogue for Pit to just surrender seeing Ike again after this entire scene of Pit being…dumb.
7. My jab at Roy…is not that nice. Melee got him kicked out and Smash 4 has Lucina who is Roy 2.0 so Roy isn't coming back. He's best just leaving for the story now if there was a sequel since he caused so many problems for Master at this point.
8. Again a reference that an Amail is not a 1/3 that Li told Ike. It's kind of obvious though what an Amail is when you take Li's description that sounds like a metaphor than anything else.
And that's it. Reviews are appreciated. The next chapter is the epilogue that will bring up to the current timeline. Ja ne!
