"What's going on, why are there trap doors in the side of mountains? Are you alright? What did you do!?" Law hammered me with questions.
"I don't know, the side of a mountain! I'm fine, I didn't do anything!" I responded as I maneuvered my way around the room.
"Where are we?" He asked as I approached him.
"In an underground city, it's abandoned, for the most part. Actually to be more specific we are in a basement in a castle."
Law sighed,"Of course we are, and what do you mean for the most part?"
"well..hahaha, it seems that there are lights on in the castle."
"And let me guess you were going to go in."
"Well I was and then I realized that the lights were on so I jumped into some nearby bushes. Which happened to have a trap door underneath them."
"Kathren…"
"Hey! It wasn't my fault! Everything was so breathtaking, I just couldn't resist." I looked at the floor guiltily.
Law chuckled," It's fine, you're safe, that's all that matters. Now let's get out of here."
He took my hand and started to shuffle his way towards a tiny door in the back of the room.
"But Law, there's people in the castle. I don't think they will be pleased to see us."
He glanced back at me," Which is why we won't let them see us." We reached the door and he cautiously opened the it. On the other side there was a long stone hallway that lead to a staircase.
"See," he said, "nothing to be afraid of." he dragged me with him down the hallway to the stairs.
The stairs spiraled up and were falling apart. Law took a step on one and it fell off.
"Be careful," he said and helped me up the stairs.
After what seemed to be forever we reached an opening. It was another hallway, but it had carpet laid down. I bent over a little and could see that there was staircase leading down.
"Hey! this is the where the entrance is!" I whispered to Law.
"Good, then it will be out escape." He pressed himself up against the wall and indicated he wanted me to do the same.
We both crept on the wall and when we got to the corner where the stairs where we paused. Law peered around the corner, "It's safe."
"Are you sure?"
"No," he started walking down the steps, dragging me with. It was a gorgeous room. A gigantic chandelier hung from the ceiling, it was gold and had diamonds that glittered as the lights hit it. There was a huge window that was right above the door. It showed the sparkling of the cavern's roof. When we reached the bottom of the stairs to our right there was another massive room, with white pillars and ceramic flooring, it looked like a ballroom. To our left was a small closed door.
"Come on," Law tugged on my hand. We shuffled our way to the front door as quietly as possible.
Alas, it was not quite enough. For as we reached the door a voice behind us spoke.
"Greetings! I did not realize that we were having company today!"
Without turining around Law replied,"We were just leaving."
"Nonsense! My good fellow and my fair lady, come and join me and my master for our evening meal." The man talked in a sophisticated way, he sounded highly intelligent. I peered over my shoulder and saw a small man wearing a butler outfit. From the glance I thought I saw horns on top of his head, but I quickly looked away.
"Law," I whispered.
"I've got this," he whispered back,"We thank you for your invitation but we really must be going. You see I have my men waiting for me on my ship and if we don't hurry they will get extremely worried."
The man laughed,"Yes, yes, we know, but surely your men can wait for another hour or so, I mean if it was not for this beautiful young lady you would have already left, am I right?"
This is my fault, if only I wasn't so clumsy, then we would not be in this mess. At the very least this man seems harmless, maybe everything will turn out to be just fine.
Maybe….
