I sat on Law's bed, he was leaning against the wall.
"Sorry," he mumbled.
"For what?"
"They can be obnoxious at times."
I raised my eyebrows,"Don't apologize on their behalf. It's not your fault for their actions."
"But it is, isn't it?" He said with crossed arms.
"I don't consider it your fault."
"It was me that a put a move on you, which is completely out of character of me."He started to rub his forehead in frustration.
"Why, yes it is."
"Then why did I do it?"
His question surprised me,"I figured it was because you had feelings for me." I blushed and looked down.
"Feelings…." he muttered to himself.
"I don't think it's that difficult to understand. I mean, you tried to kiss me, did you not?" I said with my head tilted down.
"They interrupted us," he paused,"I don't know what I was going to do."
"Oh, so you just got close to me for no reason?" I whispered.
Silence entered the room. The type of silence so deep that it can only be described by emotions. Confusion, frustration, hurt, hope. It lingered for the longest of times. I never thought that it was going to leave.
Then Law sat next to me and his hand cupped my chin. He tilted my face towards his and pulled me close to him. His eyes looked curious and amused. His face got gradually closer to mine and our lips touched.
This was different then the first time he kissed me. It was more pleasant. Probably because I was expecting it this time. But even Law seemed more into it, more sensual.
I wasn't really paying attention, but the kiss turned into a make out.
He gently laid me down on the bed and whispered,"You're not going to slap me this time, are you?"
I laughed,"No! Well, unless you want me to."
He ran his hand through my hair," Not really, you hit hard."
I giggled,"Hey, you surprised me last time."
"Sometimes surprises are the best." His lips touched my neck.
A sigh of pleasure released from my mouth,"Law."
I heard him chuckle,"Interesting." He sat up.
"Huh?" He was sitting on me looking at some dials on the wall.
"This doesn't look good."
"What the hell Law."
"Hmm? Oh, sorry, but it seems like there are some ships above us."
"Ships?"
"I think they might be navy ships. We should shut down so we won't be noticed." He got up and glanced at me," We can finish this later." He had a smirk on his face.
"Is that a promise?" I mumbled.
"Yes."
"Shit, he heard me." I blushed.
"You suck at whispering."
"Shut up."
He left the room laughing.
"He's such a tease." I've never felt this way before about anyone. I think I am definitely in love. But he doesn't even trust me. Wait, we completely got distracted, that's what we needed to talk about! Crap, when he comes back in here then we will get back to business. Of course 'back to business' could mean two different things to us.
The lights went out and the submarine went dead quiet.
There must actually be enemy ships up there.
It's so dark in here and the silence is spooky.
I heard footsteps coming down the hallway.
"That must be Law."
The door opened,"Kathren, are you alright?" Law's voice echoed through his room.
"Yes. How bad is it?"
I heard him stumble to the bed, where I felt him sit.
"Pretty bad, there is a fleet a navy ships currently above us. Lucky they seem to be moving pretty quickly." "I wonder what they're looking for."
"They probably got word of some pirates causing problems on a nearby island."
"That sucks for them."
"Yes it does," Law set his arm on my leg,"Should we continue?"
"Actually, I think we should talk." I pushed his hand of off me and sat up.
"Alright," he said slowly,"I'm assuming it's about the trust issue."
"Well what else is there?"
He didn't respond.
"Law!?"
"Nothing! Calm yourself. I just don't know how to put it in words. Which is saying a lot, because I normally am not speechless. But in the case, I am. Kathren you are just one thing after the next. And I am strangely drawn to you; not in a bad way of course. This makes me not trust you. I feel as if you have some sort of trick up your sleeve for me. Each corner that I turn with you leaves me baffled. You have a certain air of you that I cannot describe."
He fell silent," Law, I don't know what to tell you. I can't explain myself to you. I just don't know what you expect from me. You will just have to come to terms with whatever you are feeling. Nothing more can be said, other than… no, never mind." I too fell silent.
I frowned, this is not what I was expecting him to say. What should I do?
I reached over and touched it arm and my hand crept up to his face. I caressed his face and leaned in. I gently kissed him, on what I think was his lips, but it was to dark to tell.
"Do you mind if I sleep in here tonight?" I asked shyly.
"Go ahead," he responded quietly.
I laid down underneath the blankets."When will the lights be back on?"
"Just go to sleep and don't worry about it."
"Law, please don't get pissy with me."
"Kathren… I'm sorry," his hand felt for the blankets and pulled them up around me. He then proceeded to find his way into bed and crawled in with me.
"Thank you for being patient with me," he whispered in my ear.
Law wrapped his arms around my body and I fell asleep to his steady breathing.
