It was now nearing the end of June, and graduation was tomorrow. This was the one and only time Muggles were ever let into the castle. The only place they're ever been able to go was Diagon alley. Hermione's parents arrived with the Weasley's and they were sleeping in the great hall. Hermione never told them anything about what happened over the holidays or about being pregnant. She didn't want to ruin this special time by telling them now. She would tell them when she was done school.
"Mum! Dad!" Hermione yelled when she saw them and the Weasleys, who also didn't know she was with child.
"Hermione!" They called. They ran over and wrapped her in a big hug. She tried to keep her stomach as far them as possible. They didn't say anything, so she thought that was a good sign. She showed them around the castle
Mr. and Mrs. Granger couldn't believe how big and nice it was. They were always gasping and pointing. Hermione took them to Gryffindor tower and showed them the common room and her bedroom quarters that she shared with four others. They loved it. After all the tours were done, everyone went to the great hall for lunch. Hermione's parents couldn't believe the amount of food that just magically appeared on the table. After everyone ate they could go do whatever they wanted. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff decided to have a friendly game of Quidditch to show all the muggle parents how it was played. After a long day and dinner, Hermione hung out in the Great Hall with her parents for a few hours before it was curfew. All seventh years were allowed out past curfew tonight but Hermione was tired. She bid her parents goodnight and went up to bed.
The next morning was the big day. Hermione had a nice dress to wear under her robes. McGonagall ordered her graduation robes bigger so they would fit. Everyone piled into the great hall, parents got to sit first. Students could go in once all parents were seated, some students decided to stand along the sides. Once everyone was seated, the ceremony started. There was an aisle in the middle. One by one, students were called: Hannah Abbott… Vincent Crabbe… Justin Finch-Fletchly… Seamus Finnegan… Gregory Goyle… Hermione Granger… Neville Longbottom… Draco Malfoy… Ernie McMillan… Harry Potter… Ronald Weasley… Blaise Zabini…
There were applause after each student was called. Professor Dumbledore waited until one student was more than halfway down the aisle before calling the next. He shook hands with the boys and hugged the girls. Each head of House, Professor McGonagall, Professor Sprout, Professor Flitwick and Professor Snape each handed out diplomas and transcripts to students in their respective houses and congratulated them. Once they were done up there, they were to sit down. The first three rows were reserved for the graduating students. Once everyone was called up and received their diplomas, Dumbledore gave a speech.
"I have been headmaster for many years and I have never had so much trouble with my students", he laughed as did everyone else. "None the less, this is one of the greatest groups of students I've seen. I do have a few awards I would like to give out", he said. McGonagall rolled a table over that had some plaques and medals on it.
"The first award I have is for the smartest witch for her age, Miss Hermione Granger. Though she's friends with Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley and often in trouble because of the shenanigans they get her into, she is the smartest witch to attend Hogwarts in the past 7 years at least. Hermione, please come up here", all of the Gryffindor's stood up shouting and cheering as she walked up to the stage. She collected her Medal and Plaque and gave Dumbledore and McGonagall a huge. She waved and bowed to the audience as they still cheered. She went and sat back down as Dumbledore continued.
"The next award I would like to give out is for the most improved student this year. He has proven, not just academically, but with his personality how someone can change. Once he had that moment of clarity, he got a few new friends, who were enemies before, And once that all happened, he passed all of his courses with outstanding. This proves something that everyone thought was impossible. Draco Malfoy, will you please come collect your award", Draco looked up, shocked. He couldn't believe he won an award. Narcissa stood up cheering and then everyone joined in except the Slytherins.
"And my last award goes to Harry Potter. For everything you've done for this school. Even though it's almost gotten you killed every year you've been here, you have shown your loyalty to this school, its staff and students and most importantly, to yourself. You've saved this school a few times and we cannot be more grateful to you. Harry, please come up here", Harry stood and the whole hall erupted like they did for Hermione.
"This concludes out Graduation ceremony for today, if you would all please go into the entrance hall, there are numerous tables out there with refreshments. Thank-you for attending out ceremony today", he finished, stepping down from the podium. All the students stood up and threw their caps into the air cheering before everyone filed out.
Everyone mingled for quite a while before Dumbledore informed everyone that they needed to sleep as the train would be taking them home the next day. All parents went back into the great hall to sleep and all students went to there dormitories.
