The manager was at the front waiting for people to arrive and seat them. The name-tag said Tai Ueno. "Hello and welcome to The Red Dragon, a table for two?" he said professionally. "Yes please." Allen answered; Tai retrieved two menus and asked that the two students follow him.

The inside was decorated in many bright and dark shades of red, orange and yellow. The interior was bigger than most of the restaurants so they had two areas where guests could sit and eat on mats/ pillows like in Asian culture or sit at a 'western booth'. Allen asked for a booth and Kanda made no objections. Tai brought them to a window seat where lanterns were lit up in the center of the table.

The duo sat down as their menus were placed in front of them. "Thanking for choosing The Red Dragon, your server will be with in a few moments." Tai said and went to go seat more customers. Allen opened her menu and began scanning; she wanted to know if there was anything new on the menu since the last time she ate at a Red Dragon. Kanda opened is at a slower speed and immediately started searching for noodles; more specifically soba.

Almost a minute later a black haired woman with dark green eyes in a short gold kimono (A/N: think the anime waitresses) came to their table with a note pad in hand and a smile on her face. "Hello my name is Hinata Yamamoto and I will be your server this evening. Can I get either of you anything to drink?" "Green tea." Kanda, Allen rolled her eyes at his behavior. "I'll have Oolong tea, please."

"Green and oolong, all right I'll be right back." with that Hinata left their table to brew fresh tea for the quiet duo. Kanda, after searching the front and back of the menu, decided on tsukimi soba. Just the soba. Allen wanted half the menu but settled for three dishes instead: chicken chow mien, peppered steak with onion, and shrimp fried rice. And of course two handfuls of fortune cookies, and for desert dango, daifuku, anpan for her uncle and taiyaki for later.

The waitress asked no questions when she was given the orders, Tai had told her about Lady Anita's niece and her appetite. From now on if Allen came to their restaurant Hinata would be the waitress as long as it was during her shift. She didn't mind though, Allen seemed quiet but was very polite and well behaved for her age, so no questions would be asked.

Allen and Kanda sat in a comfortable silence once again. Although Kanda had more questions he wanted to ask "Your aunt owns a chain of restaurants like this?" Allen looked up from the embellished table to stare at Kanda for a moment. "Yes, she's the one who made breakfast for us this morning."

Kanda, not being one to remember faces or names, vaguely remembered the dark haired woman from this morning. "Okay then, what happened earlier with the cashier? You said something about Judgment?" Allen sipped at her tea before answering. "My Uncle, Cross, owns a business he calls Judgment. To be honest I don't know what he does, but whatever it is makes plenty of money."

Kanda raised an eyebrow. "You don't know what your own uncle does for a living?" he asked incredulously. Allen shrugged "A few thoughts have crossed my mind, but he said he doesn't want me to get involved with his work." Allen replied then stared out the window. "One more question." Kanda spoke, Allen turned her eyes to him with a bored look "What's with the appetite?"

This time Allen raised an eyebrow, and retorted with a question of her own. "Why so much soba?" It caught the samurai off guard for a fraction of a second before pissing him off. "Are trying to say I have no taste in food." Allen smirk and a rare gleam of mischievous intentions entered her eyes. "Oh no, that's not what I was saying at all." she answered sarcastically. A vein popped. "Its just that you eat it literally everyday at school, and I wonder if you've ever eaten anything else."

"I had no clue that I was having lunch with such a smart-ass." Kanda said with a forced grin. "I had no idea I was eating with a jackass." Allen said a 'friendly smile on her face. Before Kanda could say anything, Hinata came back with a tray of their meals and two pots of tea, in case they wanted a refill.

"Tsukimi soba." she said placing the dish in front of Kanda. "Chicken chow mien, peppered steak and shrimp fried rice." She placed each of plates in front of Allen as she listed them. "And your desserts will be out soon." Hinata bowed and left them to their meals.

They prayed over their food once Hinata left, picked up their chopsticks and began to eat. Kanda ate slowly as if savoring the flavor of his soba, Allen was already half way through with her second plate. At the moment she finished her peppered steak Kanda opened his eyes to stare at her. He hadn't thought about it before but Allen had always eaten very quickly. No matter how much she ate she somehow managed to finish eating before anyone in their small little group.

"Is there something wrong?" Allen asked when she noticed Kanda's staring. "Do you want to try some." She said picking up a piece of shrimp and some rice and holding it out for Kanda to eat. Kanda would have blushed if he wasn't skilled at hiding his emotions. Shrugging his shoulders he took the seafood into his mouth.

Allen nodded when he swallowed and continued eating. "I see you can use chopsticks pretty well for someone born here." Kanda said after another few minutes of silence. "Cross and I lived in Japan for about a year." Allen said in a 'matter-of-fact' tone. "Plus my aunt is from China, so she taught me how to use them as well."

Hinata came back just as they had finished their meals with the dango and daifuku. The anpan and taiyaki were wrapped up in carry out boxes. Hinata bowed and said thank you before leaving them for good. Allen immediately reached for the dango and stuck it in her mouth.

Kanda only watched, not being one for sweets, and then remembered his earlier question. "You never answered my question." Allen looked back at the dark haired samurai with her second stick of dango in her mouth. "If it's the one about my appetite, I don't trust you enough to tell you the full story." Kanda looked vaguely surprised at the sharp reply. "It's nothing personal but there are a lot of things I don't even talk to my 'family' about, and I'm not exactly comfortable with telling someone I just met a few weeks ago." Kanda understood that feeling completely. He also had topics he preferred not to discuss with anyone else. Somethings aren't meant to be spoken of.

Allen looked back out the window and her eyes widened at what she saw. Kanda noticing her almost frightened look, turned his head as well. He saw Lenalee, Bak, and some of their friends heading for the restaurant. Allen quickly put the daifuku into the doggy bag of sweets, grabbed her her bags and silently implored Kanda to do the same. He did and they tried to hurry out but it was too late and they had been seen.
