Chapter 8: Buildings and Relationships

Annabeth's POV

After about two hours of screaming at each other, four broken glasses, and five sheets of designs later, we had finally decided on one. He looked genuinely pleased but I was still slightly pissed. Like seriously, I shouldn't ever have to break a glass to get someone's attention. You hired me, not the other way around. It was about six o'clock now and we had decided to start work on Wednesday.

The building I'm creating is massive. It's some sort of concert hall and I swear it will be perfect down to every detail. I'm thinking I'll do a traditional dome shape for the theatre part. The inside of the dome will have a few different segments depicting different types of art being done, from Medieval to Kabuki, or Greek theatre. Outside it will be held up by pillars, Greek style. Oh it'll be perfect.

Percy's POV

Having dad in New York was kind of cool. He took me to a Yankees game which we observed from one of those cool rooms above the stands. Whenever we went anywhere, his personal assistant Laura came with, always on her phone telling him about reservations at four, a meeting at three. I don't remember this about my dad at all not that I really remembered him in the first place. I mean mom would tell me crazy stories and this guy was nothing like the dad I portrayed him to be. The guy I saw was always wearing Bermuda shorts and a loose t-shirt with flip flops. This guy was suited, dress shoed, and shaved.

My phone buzzed and it was from Calypso.

C: Party 2night at Drew's house. You down P'dawg?

I laugh at her silly antics.

P: Yeah Cali I'm down, wt time am I picking you up?

C: 8:00 p.m. Bring Advil.

P: Does this mean I'm the designated driver?

C: Hell yeah I've been it for the last two!

P: Okay see you the.

So after this I took a shower, put some nice cologne on, and styled my hair in the normal messy look I have going on, and leave.

Crappy dance music pounds throughout Drew's penthouse. I weave through crowds of sweaty kids and stumble upon Calypso and some kid with curly hair and a tool belt on. Girls were walking a around in death trap heels and too tight of dresses for my liking. Guys, being the perverts they are were talking freely to said girls, trying to take them home. Drew was, well I don't want to explain it because it's…disturbing. I haven't seen Rachel all night. Actually, I haven't seen her since she left for San Fran. Sometimes I wonder if Annabeth is in California, isn't that where everyone goes in those cliché movies. However, I don't think Annabeth is at all cliché.

I jump as someone jumps onto my back and the person falls to the floor. I walk away quickly trying to play it off but then wish I wouldn't have seen what I saw. Rachel was being pushed against a couch full on lip locking with some dude with blonde hair. Octavian, now he disgusts me. It was obvious she was totally wasted, probably only a few more breaths from puking. I roll my eyes, sigh, and then pull her out from under him and take her to the bathroom. Once there she grabs hold of the toilet and heaves up alcohol. I pull back her hair and for a while she sobs and then she's out cold. Some party. As I drag her back to my car and put her in the back seat a hear Calypso yelling at me.

"Hey Percy is everything okay?" She calls from the building steps.

"No. I've got to get Rachel home. Do you want me to come back and get you or are you thinking of going home with someone?" I ask and she smiles.

"Yeah I'm going home with someone. I'll text you if anything changes." I nod and strap Rachel in. I turned on the car and muttered, "You are so lucky to have me." However I didn't think she would mutter back "I know."

By the time Rachel was able to think straight it was Tuesday. She has a killer hangover, but on the Brightside some pretty interesting pieces of art came out of it. I mean like strange, abstract, stuff. I haven't heard from Annabeth for a while which makes me feel like I did something wrong. That's when my phone rang… but it wasn't her. It was my dad wondering if I want to accompany him golfing with his brother's. The only reason I'm going though is because he said Nico would be their but not Thalia. He said Zeus is having Thalia go shopping with my mom.

I know nothing about golfing if you hadn't already guessed so when I should up there in jeans and converse my dad looked all but impressed. He let me keep my shoes but made me change into a navy polo and tan khaki shorts. Nico didn't like the fact that they made him change his clothes either from what I could tell. At least his shirt was his favorite color. After about an hour or two of hitting the ball in the wrong direction and rearranging the grass with my golf club I was getting bored and so I sat down on a bench nearby. I was looking down but when I could see the shadow of my father I looked up.

"I take it golf isn't your thing?" He says.

"Not at all." He chuckles and sits down next to me. He silent for a while and then takes an intake of breath.

"Percy, how would you feel about visiting California?" He asks me. I look at him confused but answer.

"I don't know I guess it'd be cool to see LA and San Francisco. Why do you ask?"

"Well Percy I've been I'm meeting with a potential business partner and we've been thinking about finally closing the deal. Thing is he lives in San Francisco. He's throwing a party for when the deals closed and I just think you'd enjoy yourself." He says.

"Yeah okay I'll go, sounds fun." He smiles and his eyes crinkle.

Okay so short chapter I know but on the bright-side since schools ended I'll have more time to update. Bye Lovelies.
