"Well of course you can get started right away, my darling niece. If you want you can use the choir room for more privacy while I work with the other students." Neah said happily as he led Marie toward a harp in the corner of the room.
Despite the taller male's blindness he had an incredible ear. Neah was sure he would do well with a string instrument, so he would start him off on the harp.
"Thank you Mr. Neah." Lala said with happiness shining in her eyes. "Lets go Ms. Allen." Lala said dragging the white haired musician to the designated room. "You know you don't have to call me miss. I'm pretty sure you're older than me." "I know but it's how I show respect to people."
Allen nodded at that, "I suppose I can understand that." She said as they entered the choir room silently. "So I'll start off by saying that I've already heard you sing a little bit. I apologize if it was suppose to be a private moment but I was curious about the song, it sounded like Latin."
Lala looked surprised as the snow haired female took a seat at the piano. "Oh that's okay I was only singing to the flowers, when you talk or sing to them they grow." Lala said taking a seat on the other side of the large instrument.
"I'm glad to hear I didn't intrude on a private moment." Allen gave her a small, gentle smile. "Well Lala is there anything specific that you'd like to sing?" "Like what exactly?" She answered with a question. "I mean what genre of music such as Rock, Pop, R&B maybe. Honestly I think your voice would sound better for ballads and softer songs."
"Ballads do seem somewhat appealing, but I will admit I am a little nervous about how it would sound and singing in front of others." "Lala I don't think you'd have anything to worry about. Your voice is the type that could move people and bring them to tears. If it would make you feel better I could sing with you but I'll only have a small part. All I need from you is an idea for this song."
Lala thought for a moment before speaking again. "I did have to write a a short story for creative writing once. We were randomly given endings for the story. Mine was supposed to be a sort of tragedy with a little bit magic." "What was it about?" Allen asked.
"It was about a crane who turned into a human and married a hard working man, he saved the crane from a trap where it could have died. The crane came back to him in the form of a woman and they got married. He fell ill and they were too poor to afford the medicine he needed so she used her feathers to weave and tried to sell them hoping that someone of high standing would buy it. However she was continuously turned down and her husband eventually died and she remained alone with no one and no feathers. But even after all of it he still loved her, knowing that she was a crane from the beginning."
"That's a rather sad story for an assignment." Allen commented gently. Lala nodded "Yes, Ms. Himura said that she teared up while reading it, but asked if she could submit it to a student writing contest. I agreed only because I didn't think I would win."
"It sounds like a lovely story to me, Lala. I'd like to read it sometime whether you win or not." Allen smiled again and started humming slowly. Lala watched her in silence as the music prodigy seemed to be working on something already.
"What sort of setting did your story have?" Allen asked while pulling out some paper. "It was supposed to be an ancient setting of Japan and it started out in the middle of winter. From there I went through the seasons until it ended back with winter when the man died."
"I see, was there anything specific that they said to each other?" Allen questioned as she wrote somethings down. "Well I wrote that the man had commented that her voice and her hands were beautiful. Her voice from the beginning of the story and her hands towards the end since all her weaving had damaged her hands."
Allen nodded and started humming again. "What did you name the story?" "I called it seasonal feathers." Allen wrote one final time before she place her hands on the piano keys and started playing.
It had been almost two weeks since Lala and Allen first met up and news about an upcoming event . "Black Order talent show?" Allen asked. Lavi nodded his head. "Yeah usually the students and teachers nominate people to participate and some of them actually do show up. No one really knows whose in it excepted for the people nominated and anyone they told." Lavi said bouncing happily.
"It sounds like a popularity contest where you get to show off your talents." Allen commented. "But it's not." Lavi retorted. "Are you saying that if someone nominated you, you wouldn't go?" Allen shrugged "If a teacher did then sure. But that doesn't mean that you can go around asking the teachers to nominate me." Allen added quickly.
Lavi snapped his fingers "Damn, I was gonna do that too." Suddenly Lala ran up to Allen, her petite form hunched over with heaving breathing. "Ms. Allen I have news." She gasped out. "Hold on Lala, catch your breath first before you pass out."
Lala nodded and did so. "Mr. Neah, Mr. Tiedoll, and Ms. Hevlaska nominated us for the talent show." "Seriously, the counselor?" "What's so special about our counselor taking part?" Allen asked. "Ms. Hevlaska never nominates anyone. For her to suddenly nominate us is borderline a miracle." Lala said happily. "Oh, then what about Mr. Tiedoll?"
"I can answer that." Came the voice of the art teacher. "I'm afraid that while passing the choir room I heard the two of you practicing and I just had to listen the whole way through." He said with a sheepish smile.
"Did you like it?" Allen asked, it wasn't the first time someone said they listened in on her practice. "I did, and it brought tears to my eyes. Such a sad song." "No fair I wanna hear it too Allen!" Lavi exclaimed.
"You'll have to wait just like everyone else Lavi. Although I am glad to know that you liked it Mr. Tiedoll." Allen said calmly. She wanted to laugh at Lavi's pout but if she did she may give into to him. No only that but it wouldn't be fair to allow him to hear it without Lala's permission as well. It is her song after all.
Lavi snapped his fingers. "Darn and here I thought I'd get a preview. Oh well, I guess it's better to be surprised anyway." He shrugged as they continued down the hall. "In some cases, yes." Allen stated with side look "As the saying goes 'Patience is a virtue. Possess it if you can.'"
"So very true. Hey you wanna go watch Yuu practice?" Lavi asked suddenly. Allen shrugged "I don't see why not. Cross said he wouldn't be picking me up so I have to ask Kanda if he'll take me." Lavi simply laughed at her predicament. "He's probably alone in the dojo out back, let's go."
Lavi led the white haired girl to the back of the school. They approached the wooden building with paper doors and quietly slid inside. They could hear the sounds of an object being swung through the air. "Looks like he's practicing with Mugen today." Lavi whispered lowly.
He, as gently as possible slid the door open. Enough that they could see that Kanda was indeed using a real blade. The one Allen often saw him carry around the school.
The faux samurai's movements were graceful yet she could tell that one swing could be the killing blow. "He's good. His movements are precise and powerful. The only thing I can negatively say is that he's really stiff." Lavi smirked.
Kanda suddenly turned around and glared at the two behind the screen door. "What do you two want?" He growled, he was irritated that someone interrupted his practice. "Just wanted to watch, but Allen needs someone to drive her home again." Lavi responded.
"Tch again with this Moyashi. Don't you have a driver or something?" Kanda said sheathing Mugen and moving to grab his towel. "Cross said he was busy so he couldn't." She crossed her arms. "And don't complain, you're getting paid handsomely to be around me."
Kanda shrugged as he put his jacket on. "Whatever." "It can't be all that bad if you're getting paid." Lavi commented, his arms behind his head in a relaxed position. "Shut up rabbit. Moyashi start moving if you wanna get home."
"Don't start rushing me all of a sudden and it's Allen, Bakanda." The snow haired musician retorted. The two walked out arguing and Lavi walked a few paces behind for safety reasons. 'I'll have to tell Yuu about the show later tonight. I'm sure Tiedoll will drag him out anyway to support Allen.'
A/N: The story that I had Lala describe is a song called Seasonal Feathers by Rin and Len Kagamine. It's actually quite sad regardless of the language I heard it in, although it may have been because of the story it told.
