ch.19

Cold as Ice

Toshiro was running and had finally made it back to the Seireitei. As he ran he closed his mind and focused on the battles that had been going on.

"Looks like most of the fighting is over."

He had almost made it to the gate when a voice echoed from above.

"There's my precious Dragon Ball. Now, why don't you hand it over to me?"

Toshiro looked up and saw alien staring down at him. Before the fighting had begun, Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi had gathered research on all of the villains that had entered the Soul Society. This alien was Frieza. He was one of the most powerful beings in the universe at one point. Toshiro hated to even look at him. His eyes were cold, and burned with hatred.

"That's not going to happen Frieza."

Frieza smiled. "I see that even here I am known. How excellent. One more chance. Give me the Dragon Ball, and I might end your life quickly."

Toshiro began using his flash step to get to the Seireitei. He looked behind him and saw that Frieza was keeping up with him. He made it to the gate and the guards let him through. He stopped to talk with one of them.

"Be careful. He's not someone you should take lightly."

"We'll take care of him, Captain Hitsugaya. Go, take the Dragon Ball to the Head Captain." The guard replied.

"Of course."

Frieza laughed. "Your guards are pathetic. You won't stand a chance against the almighty Frieza."

Toshiro turned around and saw purple energy being formed in Frieza's hands. He threw two balls of energy that incinerated the guards and destroyed most of the front wall. Toshiro jumped onto the building next to him and began running towards the Head Captain. He glanced back and saw that Frieza was right on his tail.

"Give me the Dragon Ball now, or watch your precious Seireitei burn!" Frieza yelled.

Toshiro knew that he was in a tight spot. He wanted to fight and kill Frieza, but he had to take the Dragon Ball to the Head Captain. If he tried to fight the monster, there would be a chance that the Dragon Ball might be stolen. Either way, the situation was bad.

He looked back and saw that Frieza began to charge more energy blasts. He threw them and they landed right next to him. Toshiro managed to jump out of the way from the explosion, but the force from the blast threw him onto one of the sidewalks. The Captain of Squad 10 looked back and saw the explosion from behind. It was like a nuclear blast had gone off. He hated to think of how many innocent Soul Reapers had gotten killed because of that monster.

Toshiro put down the Dragon Ball and got onto one of the buildings. "That's it. I can't take any more of this."

"So, you've decided to give me the Dragon Ball?"

"No. I've decided that I'm going to kill you."

"Such big words for such a little man. Let's see if you can back them up."

"Rain over..."

Just then Byakuya appeared and grabbed Toshiro's sword.

"Byakuya?"

"What is your duty, Toshiro?" Byakuya asked.

"To protect the Dragon Ball."

"Then complete that duty." Byakuya said. "I will take care of this garbage."

"Thanks. Good luck Captain Kuchiki."

Toshiro grabbed the Dragon Ball and continued running towards the Old Man. Meanwhile, Byakuya got into a fighting stance against Frieza.

"And I thought Saiyan haircuts were horrible."

"You see that hill over there?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"Let's take our fighting there. I don't want any more people to be killed by you. Getting killed by you is no honorable way to die."

"They're going to get killed anyway, so what does it matter?"

Byakuya began using his flash step and soon arrived at Sokyoku Hill. Frieza arrived soon after him.

"If you must be so noble, I guess I will kill you here." Frieza laughed.

Frieza then began firing several eyelasers at Byakuya. He dodged them with his flash step. He appeared next to Frieza and sliced his tail off. Frieza yelled and quickly turned around. Byakuya jumped backwards as Frieza began to fire energy blasts from his fingers. Byakuya used his sword and blocked all of them. He used his flash step and appeared next to Frieza, who stood there, stunned.

"So, you can fire energy attacks from your fingers. Let's see how you do against this one." He held his index finger out. "Hado 4, Byakurai." A beam of blue energy came from his index finger and blasted a hole through Frieza's shoulder.

Frieza was thrown from the attack and landed in the forest close to the hill. He looked around and tried to think of something he could use to kill Byakuya. He noticed all of the trees around him and smiled. Frieza flew up into the air and stretched his hands out.

"You know you can't win, so why do you bother?"

"I'm not done yet." Frieza laughed. "Merry Christmas."

The trees around him began floating into the air. One by one he began throwing them at Byakuya.

"Scatter, Senbonzakura."

The blade disappeared from Byakuya's sword and turned into thouands of cherry blossoms. Whenever the trees would fly at him, the thousands of blades would destroy the trees. No matter how many trees Frieza threw at the Captain, they couldn't close to him.

"Time to change things up a little."

Frieza then sent one of the trees in front of Byakuya and one tree from behind him. The three came at him and his shikai destroyed the one in front. The one from behind was coming at him, and the captain used his flast step to evade it. Frieza hurled another tree at him and he destroyed this tree was well.

"Pathetic. The former ruler of the universe, brought down to throwing trees at their opponent."

"Shut up! Why don't you take this?" Frieza yelled. "If I can't have the Dragon Balls, then the Soul Society will experience the same fate as Planet Namek!"

Frieza put his hands about a foot apart and charged an energy ball. This ball of energy was mixed with the colors of red and yellow. Black lightning sparked around the attack. Frieza raised the attack aboved his head and was about to throw the energy ball.

"I'm never going to let anyone put Rukia's life in danger."

"You won't be fast enough to stop me! Soul Reaper!"

"Gokei, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi."

Byakuya's blade completely dissapeared and the blades formed a cirlce around Frieza.

"What? What is this?"

The blades enclosed around Frieza and he yelled in agony. When the blades returned to Byakuya's hilt, Frieza was on the ground and the Death Ball was gone. Byakuya walked up to Frieza as he lied on the ground, barely able to move.

"You may have been the most powerful ruler of the universe at one point. But now, you are nothing. You are like an annoying dog trying to get the attention of its master. No matter how many times you bark, the master will ignore you because you are not worthy to be looked at."

Byakuya then placed his sword next to Frieza's head. "You are not going to harm anyone again."

"Damn you, Soul Reaper!"

Byakuya then cut Frieza's head off.
