Third Person POV

Kurama gently leads the silvery girl onto the large ship, the other members of their group following closely behind. The group chooses to settle themselves by the railing. The spirit detective wastes no time in slumping against said railing to snooze, an action that goes unnoticed by Kuwabara.

"Welcome to all! I have some good news to tell you," their host, the one-eyed, peg-legged pirate, announces over the loudspeaker. "We won't be long to organize the elimination rounds!" The deck in the center of the ship opens up, a large, round arena rising from within. All of the demonic passengers (and Kuwabara) made loud noises at the sudden shock, much to the sensitive angel's chagrin. "The fifteen teams on the island have already been qualified. From this boat must be left only a single team."

"Those bastards. I thought we were invited!" Kuwabara growls.

"It makes sense, Kuwabara. Our team is for entertainment. And they want only the best," Mitsukai explains to the large brute.

"Choose the strongest of your team. The surviving team must then participate in the tournament!" Demon competitors begin trickling up to the arena.

"A battle royale? Yusuke! You go show then the results of your training!" Kuwabara laughs dumbly before turning and noticing their sleeping leader. "Yusuke?! Shit, what now?! You're sleeping!?" Kuwabara continues yelling at the sleeping boy and shaking him roughly.

"He must have received severe training. He's sleeping to recover his energy," the red-headed fox reasons.

"Who's going to go then?" Kuwabara asks.

"It looks like Yusuke's mysterious fifth fighter would like to," Mitsukai points out, motioning towards the masked fighter's form as it heads to the arena.

"Hn, the clown? We'll see what kind of stomach he has," Hiei says, staring after the small person.

"And if the idiot loses the match? What do we do then?!" Kuwabara yells yet again.

"I don't think we have to worry," Mitsukai smiles, "the energy coming from that person is quite strong."

"And if he fails, we simply kill everyone else, that way no one can complain afterwards," Hiei answers darkly.

"H-hiei!" Mitsukai gasps, her eyes as wide as saucers. Hiei glances back at the angel in her red kimono, her wings concealed. Their eyes remain locked for a little while, before the girl nods. Kurama seems to be the only one who notices the small exchange.

"Start," the pirate announces, and the mass of demons begin collectively charging towards the small human figure. Kuwabara begins yelling again, shouting painfully obvious things in octaves that nearly make the blind angel's ears bleed. Without blinking, the fighter unleashes a wave of spirit energy, not unlike Yusuke's shotgun, instantly sending the other competitors to their demise.

"The sixteenth team selected will be the Urameshi team," the pirate announcers reluctantly.

"That was the same shotgun as Yusuke. Who is this guy?" Kuwabara asks in a quiet voice, for once.

"Yusuke sleeps in all confidence," Kurama muses, "he has good reason." Kuwabara runs to the masked fighter, demanding 'he' tell them who 'he' really is. The fighter's only response is to point upwards, causing Kuwabara to look up stupidly just in time to see all of the still living demon competitors lunging in the air towards him and the other members of team Urameshi.

"It looks like they stole your idea, Hiei," Mitsukai chimes, a small grin on her face as the demons lunge towards her, Hiei, and Kurama.

"Hn, good. I was getting bored," Hiei smirks. Mitsukai reaches for her kunai hidden in her large kimono sleeves as Kurama pulls his rose out and transforms it into his rose whip. "Stay behind me, onna," Hiei commands, gently pushing the girl back before she can produce her weapons.

"But…!" she argues stubbornly, her train of thought lost as Hiei quickly takes a large number of the demons out instantly. She watches in awe as Kurama and the fighter do the same. The small group is rendered momentarily speechless as five demons make their move on the unconscious Yusuke, but Yusuke miraculously knocks four of the five out, punching them in a flurry of blows. Kuwabara attempts to take the last out, but a kunai beats him to it, hitting the demon square in the jugular before it is retracted back with a string of energy.

"Come on, grandma! I'm not done for yet!" Yusuke yells, still asleep, as he continues throwing a flurry of punches at nothing.

"Even when he sleeps, he trains. His training must have been rough," Kurama says calmly.

"Grandma? Does he mean Master Genkai?" Kuwabara mumbles, sending a suspicious glance towards the small fifth fighter who was taking demon after demon down singlehandedly. Kuwabara rushes toward him/her ready to aid but all of the enemy are thoroughly trounced.

"That was a very nice throw, Mitsukai," Kurama compliments after the group settles for the remainder of their journey.

"Th-thanks," Mitsukai blushes. "I am Yusuke's big sister, it's my job to protect him," the angel smiles. "Besides, it was all thanks to Hiei's training!"

"Hn," Hiei grunts, looking away from the grinning girl, an uncharacteristic touch of pink on the stoic boy's face. "Nice job, onna. The string was a…nice touch," he says awkwardly, still not looking at the angel whose grin has grown even larger and whose face gained a new dusting of pink.

"There it is! We've arrived!" Kuwabara announces, turning everyone's attention to the peculiar island where the Dark Tournament will be held. The group departs the ship and they travel through the streets, Kuwabara supporting Yusuke's dead weight, to a very fancy hotel. As they enter the five-star hotel, a greeter greets them and begins leading them to their rooms, Kuwabara gawking obsessively the whole way. Hiei keeps a very close proximity to the angel, as he had been the entire way to the hotel. Mitsukai shudders lightly and grip Hiei's arm tightly as they travel through the hotel full of richly dressed humans. Hiei says nothing at her action, he simply continues leading her with a ghost of a smile adorning his face.

Mitsukai's POV

Kurama led me onto the large ship that would take us to the island. The entire walk all I could feel was Hiei's anger. Why was he so angry? Kurama led us to the edge of the ship, I passively noticed all of the pretty little auras (and the not so pretty auras) of the aquatic life within the large body of water. Yusuke fell asleep quickly, his energy dimming ever so slightly while he recuperated.

"Welcome to all! I have some good news to tell you," a gruff voice announces over the loud speaker system. "We won't be long to organize the elimination rounds!" I felt a large rumbling on the ship and I gripped the railing tightly. I heard Kuwabara gasp, as well as a chorus of other voices, and the chorus was extremely loud to my sensitive ears. "The fifteen teams on the island have already been qualified. From this boat must be left only a single team." So, the rumbling must have been the stage for the elimination.

"Those bastards. I thought we were invited!" the large oafish human yelled in a gruff voice.

"It makes sense, Kuwabara. Our team is for entertainment. And they want only the best," I explain to him, my grip still firmly grasping the railing.

"Choose the strongest of your team. The surviving team must then participate in the tournament!" Who's going to fight for us? Both Hiei and Kurama are strong enough, but what if they get injured? The demonic auras began to trickle from the crowd to what I assumed was an elevated platform. Kuwabara's idiotic yelling snapped me out of my daze. I looked towards him and noticed that he aura was brutally shaking my brother's. What an idiot.

"He must have received severe training. He's sleeping to recover his energy," Kurama explains.

"Who's going to go then?" the oaf questions. I glanced at each of the members. Definitely not Kuwabara, Yusuke's too tired, Hiei is strong enough, as is Kurama. My eyes trailed to the immense aura of the fifth fighter. I watched interestedly as he/she walked toward the platform.

"It looks like Yusuke's mysterious fifth fighter would like to," I inform them, pointing in his/her direction.

"Hn, the clown? We'll see what kind of stomach he has," Hiei says in his normal, monotone voice.

"And if the idiot loses the match? What do we do then!?" the oaf yells.

"I don't think we have to worry. The energy coming from that person is quite strong," I say with a smile.

"And if he fails, we simply kill everyone else, that way no one can complain afterwards," Hiei says with a darkness in his voice I had never heard before.

"H-hiei!" The aforementioned demon poked at my mind block so I opened up to let him in.

"Onna, this is how this tournament is run. This is why you shouldn't have come. There's no room for compassion."

"I disagree. Not all demons are cruel. Look at yourself and Kurama."

"Hn. Kurama is half human now. And you've yet to see me in combat."

"Whatever you say, Hiei. I'll definitely prove you wrong."

"I can't wait to see you try, onna." I nod. I am definitely going to show him that not all demons are as cruel as these ones!

"Start!" All at once, I hear the demons yell about 'destroying the human first' and Kuwabara yelling loudly also. Suddenly, a huge wave of the fighter's energy shoots out of him/her, wiping the mass of enemies out of existence. "The sixteenth team selected will be the Urameshi team.

"That was the same shotgun as Yusuke. Who is this guy?" Kuwabara asks in a quite pleasant, quiet voice. If they have the same attack, one of them must have taught it to the other. So, is Yusuke master or apprentice? I'm going to guess apprentice.

"Yusuke sleeps in all confidence. He has good reason," Kurama thinks aloud. Kuwabara rushes to the masked fighter shouting all sorts of nonsense before he/she points up at all of the other demons lunging at our small team.

"It looks like they stole your idea, Hiei," I grin, excited at showing Hiei how capable I am.

"Hn, good. I was getting bored," he says cockily. I reach into my kimono sleeve for my special kunai. After all of Hiei's training, I had also figured out how to attach energy strings to them so I didn't lose them… They were a gift…from Hiei. He had given them to me when we began our training, as my arms were too weak to hold any other form of blade.

*Flashback*

The sound of metal clanking to the ground could be heard in the forest, followed by the sound of a feminine moan of pain. "It's no use, Hiei, I'm too weak to hold even this little dagger…" the small silver angel lamented, her wings visibly drooping.

"Hn, try these, onna," the seemingly cold imiko said, holding out a set of six kunai knives.

"Kunai?" she asked, picking one up and holding it. "I'll try." She aimed at a green leaf falling from one of the trees and impaled it easily on the trunk of a tree. "I did it!" she cheered happily, jumping up and down.

"Hn, I thought those would work. That's why I got them," the demonic man said, a blush painting his cheeks, though the angelic girl is unable to see it.

"You got them…for me, Hiei?" the girl asks, a rather large blush painting her pale cheeks.

I snap out of my flashback when Hiei pushes me behind him, "Stay behind me, onna," he commands.

"But…" I begin, but the sound of Hiei's katana swishing through the air and a large amount of enemy energies disappearing at once. My nearly sightless eyes watch in awe as both Kurama and Yusuke's mentor take out two large masses of enemies. My awe is short, as I see five blood thirsty energies heading towards where we had left Yusuke sleeping. He surprised me by standing up punching four of them out with brute strength alone. The last demon was undeterred, so I quickly and carefully aim my kunai and release it, sending it flying at his jugular. And, as it always had since Hiei's training, my kunai hit its mark. After its clean hit, I pulled back on the energy thread and tucked my precious kunai back away.

"Come on, grandma! I'm not done for yet!" my brother yelled in a sleepy voice.

"Even when he sleeps, he trains. His training must have been rough," Kurama says. We all gather back around Yusuke's now calm body so we could wait until we reach the island. "That was a very nice throw, Mitsukai," Kurama says, that warm, confusing feeling rolling off of him once again.

"Th-thanks," I stutter, blushing. "I am Yusuke's big sister, it's my job to protect him." I smile towards Kurama, but I suddenly feel a very large wave of anger coming from Hiei. "Besides, it was all thanks to Hiei's training!" I praise, hoping to make his anger dissipate, and my hope is rewarded.

"Hn," he grunts, and I can feel a small lapping of embarrassment mixed with a warm feeling, somewhat like the feeling from Kurama. "Nice job, onna. The string was a…nice touch," he says in the most timid, awkward tone I had ever heard come from Hiei's mouth. My grin grew so big that my cheeks hurt. Hiei was so adorable!

"There it is! We've arrived!" Kuwabara informs us loudly. We depart the ship and travel through the city to the hotel we would be staying at. Hiei guided me the entire way! When we entered the hotel, I immediately felt afraid. These people…they were all human… yet, their auras were so dark and their thoughts so malicious… I clutched onto Hiei's arm as we went to our room, Hiei's small flicker of warm happiness making me feel safe.
