Mitsukai's POV
After riding in the elevator for a while, which would have been terrible if I hadn't had Hiei by my side, we finally made it to our suite. Kuwabara gasped, so I assumed it was mildly appealing, but I could only make out a few distinctions. Think of it this way: a big black space dotted with little lumps of black. It was slightly…intimidating. I could tell that there were six doors because, though the wood was dead, it still held some its green aura, only it was a nearly black shade of green. I thought there might be some couches in the center of the big room, because I could see their black lumps in the blackness of the room itself.
I watched Kuwabara drop Yusuke's body on one of the lumps and then sit down near my brother's head. Yusuke's mentor and Kurama sit on opposite ends of the other lump. Hiei stands next to Kurama, and I opt to stand between the two. "So, which two of us gets a room to themselves?" Kuwabara asks quickly. So, two rooms were for a single person. That means that two of them have two beds or one has four. I was guessing it was two with two beds, so the other two rooms must be bathrooms.
"…onna…" I hear Hiei's voice say, snapping me from my deductions.
"Me?" Me what?
"Yes, of course. You are a young lady, Mitsukai," Kurama says in his sweet, patient tone. Oh! Right, me. I get my own room. I smile, nod, and whisper a 'thank you', feeling a little stupid.
"So, who gets the other?" the oaf asks. Well, we don't know who the masked fighter is exactly, besides that he/she is Yusuke's mentor. If they came in a guise, they obviously don't want someone knowing who they are…
"I think our fifth fighter should get it," I smile. I look towards Kurama's and Hiei's auras using my puppy dog eyes. These babies had never failed me!
"I agree," Kurama says after a few seconds. Well, that didn't take long. I turned my weapon on Hiei, locking eyes with him. He pokes my mind barrier and I let him in without hesitation, keeping my weapon on full power.
"Onna," Hiei begins, seeming unaffected by my eyes.
"Please, Hiei, just trust me," I beg mentally, undeterred by his aloofness. "Whoever they are, they'll reveal themselves when they are ready. Until then, just accept that they're a strong ally."
"Hn, fine," Hiei says aloud.
"What? But why him?" the oaf yells. Between his obnoxious yelling and trying to pick up the different shades of black in the darned room, I was getting a serious headache. I assume that Yusuke's mentor agrees to this as well.
"It's already decided, Kuwabara. Majority rules," I say with a very obvious, very fake smile. The idiot only grunts. Man, he sure is dense.
"So who will share with whom?" Kurama asks.
"I'll share with Urameshi," the oaf claims quickly.
"That's fine with me. Hiei?" Hiei sounds off one of his 'hn's, which I assume is agreement. Maybe he and Kurama can get along better now. They've been kind of angry towards each other for a while. I hear a knock and a light gray human aura enters the room pushing a metal (which has a distinct nearly black gray aura) cart.
"Excuse me." He sets some small black lumps on the table, six of them the same size and two smaller, and leaves. The similar six seemed to be full of some sort of liquid. Before I can contemplate what the mysterious liquid could be, I notice a magenta aura enter the room and cross behind me. My entire body tenses as I read the aura's emotion. Whoever they are, they simply seem curious, so it should be fine for now. Besides, I'm sure somebody else noticed the person enter as well.
"Onna."
"Nani?" I ask Hiei, my body relaxing. I stare at him in clear confusion.
"The fox asked if you wanted your coffee." There was a small tint of anger in Hiei's aura, but I ignored it. He must be angry at my inattentiveness.
"Oh! Yes, thank you! Could you add seven scoops of sugar, please?" I smile at Kurama.
"Seven?" he asks, trying not to sound surprised.
"Yep! I like sweet things!" After a few seconds, I feel the warm cup laced in my hands and I lift it to my lips.
"Careful! It could be poisoned!" the oaf yells. Out of spite and annoyance, I immediately take a sip and bite back a sigh of happiness. So delicious!
"Don't be paranoid. The aim of this tournament is noble," Kurama soothes. I take another delicious sip.
"He's right, the aim is to prove yourself in combat," Hiei chides. And another sip of my coffee is swallowed.
"They wouldn't have gone through the trouble of bringing everyone here just to poison our coffee," I almost laugh at his stupidity, but I settle for another sip of my coffee. I watch carefully while the magenta aura darts across the room, grabs one of the still full coffee cups, and then darts back to his 'hiding' spot behind everyone.
"Well, I'm gonna stick with my trusty aluminum," Kuwabara says 'heroically'.
"Strange. A cup is missing," Kurama says. Did they really not notice the person in the room? No, he has to be joking.
"I haven't touched it," the oaf says, loudly gulping his 'trusty aluminum'. I quietly finish my coffee while they continue speculating, and then I gently place my cup on the table. A loud slurp sounds from behind us, and everyone turns quickly.
"What! Where did that guy come from? He must have been here from the start!"
"Perhaps, but he took the cup without us noticing."
"No, he entered the room a few minutes ago," I finally say, silently wishing I had more coffee.
"You knew, lady?" the boy asks.
"Of course, I could see your aura." I am so bored. Was I really the only one who noticed?
"Why didn't you say anything then!?" the oaf yells at me.
"Because, he's not malicious, just curious," I say boredly.
"Let me introduce myself. The name's Rinku. I'm one of the six demons starting the tournament with you," Rinku says. He sounded young, like a child. But, I suppose his age shouldn't make me underestimate him. That would be like someone underestimating me because I'm a woman!
"The six? I thought there had to be five per team?"
"The sixth is the replacement, ne?" I question, already knowing the answer. This could be my chance! I'm sure that nobody's thought about the replacement! Maybe I can trick the oaf into being the replacement and I'll fight in his stead.
"Oh, but I won't hurt you too badly, lady. Don't be too scared, I won't wreck your pretty face," Rinku laughs. I feel myself flush with anger. I have no clue what he was talking about, but I'll make him regret underestimating me! I open my mouth to yell at the kid, but a man's voice cuts me off.
"Rinku, you talk too much," he says from the opposite side of the room. I look at his blaring red aura in awe. I had been so distracted by Rinku that I hadn't even noticed him.
"Oh! Sorry, Zeru!" Rinku laughs, and his aura quickly crosses to the man's, Zeru's, side. " I was just playing a game!"
"Profit well from your last night. Tomorrow, you will closely resemble your cup," Zeru says snidely. I see a flash of his aura reach out and then I hear glass break. Not a second later, Hiei has me tucked behind him in the most protective yet nonchalant way possible. However, he couldn't hide the concern tinting his aura. "I do hope the beautiful lady will be watching to see what a real man looks like." Then, both his and Rinku's auras are gone. I would have felt relieved, if not for the tsunami of anger lashing out of Hiei. I place my hand gently on his shoulder and the tsunami calms to a small tidal wave.
"Let's all follow Yusuke's example and get some sleep, ne?" I put on my best 'it'll all be alright' smile and Kurama quickly agrees. Everyone begins trickling out of the room and into their bedrooms. "Hiei, can you show me the way to my room? Everything looks the same right now," I laugh, hoping he couldn't tell I was partially lying.
"Hn, fine," he says quietly. He holds his arm out and I take it gratefully. We enter the bedroom silently a few seconds later.
"Thanks, Hiei." I smile at him, and his tidal wave dulls to a small rolling of waves.
"Hn," he mumbles, a small speck of embarrassment riding his waves of anger. I am so glad that I'm able to calm him down, at least a little.
"I can't wait to see you fight tomorrow!" I enthuse honestly. I was really looking forward to seeing him in combat with someone he wasn't afraid to hurt. "I bet you'll barely break a sweat when you beat Zeru!" I don't know why Zeru was purposefully antagonizing Hiei, or why Zeru's comments towards me seemed to create such a reaction within Hiei, but I did know one thing: Hiei wasn't going to let him get away with it.
"Hn, get some sleep, onna," Hiei replies, his tone lighter than normal. If I didn't know any better, I'd say I just made Hiei…happy!
I heard the door close and I turned to try to make out the room. A wooden dresser to the left of me, giving me a place to put my spare kimonos and pajamas; a mirror on the wall above the dresser, reflecting the rest of the room, which consisted of the metal frame of the bed on the opposite side of the room as the dresser. Carefully, I sent some of my spirit energy throughout the room, letting it soak into the furniture. Once I was able to clearly distinguish one thing from another in my room, I crept into the room with the sofas. I allowed my aura to trickle into the furniture there and then I found the bathroom, repeating the process in that room.
With everything carefully coated with my energy, I'd be able to see where I was going and what I was doing at least. I returned to my room easily and changed into a nightgown that touched the middle of my thighs. I had been told that the nightgown was the same color blue as my kimono tie, but it simply looked light purple to me, the color of my aura. All of my clothing looked that way to me. I had simply asked Botan to go shopping with me earlier, describing the colors that I wanted and trusting her to pick out what I wanted. With my nightgown on, I climbed into the bed and fell fast asleep.
