Hiei's POV
The elevator ride to the room was pleasant enough. The onna stayed close to me the entire time. When we reached our room, the oaf acted like his stupid self, gasping and running around idiotically. After he was done running around the room, he threw the detective's body onto the sofa and then sat down near the detective's head. The clown and fox sat on the sectional and I led the onna over to it. She chose to stand between me and the fox, eyeing the furniture suspiciously.
"So, which two of us gets a room to themselves?" the oaf asks.
"Hn, the onna obviously gets one," I tell the idiotic human. Wasn't that obvious?
"Me?" she asks. Obviously, baka onna, you're the only onna here.
"Yes, of course. You are a young lady, Mitsukai," the fox says, a disgusting smile on his face. After a second, she smiles and whispers 'thank' to the fox. It was difficult, but I think I managed to hide my annoyance towards the fox. Everything he did was annoying me, from the way he smiled at the onna to the way he said the onna's name.
"So who gets the other?"
"I think our fifth fighter should get it," the onna smiles, sending the fox and I what had to be the most adorable a look.
"I agree," the fox says quickly, smiling. Her eyes turn to me immediately, giving me the full force of them. I'm pretty sure those beautiful silvery eyes could convince Toguro to pick daisies. Instead of caving in like I wanted to, I gently touched her mind defenses, and she wasted no time letting me in.
"Onna," I began, but I had no idea what I was going to say. I tried to keep acting like her adorable face had no effect on me, even though it was quickly weakening my resolve.
"Please, Hiei, just trust me," her voice begs softly in my mind. This was a bad idea. Her voice only added to the strength of her control. I didn't even listen to the words she thought to me, I was too entralled with her silver eyes, and they was her silver hair shined in the lighting; the way her voice flowed softly, and how her bottom lip stuck out while she was pouting ever so slightly. I wanted to kiss her. My mind allowed a string of curses to flow, trying desperately to return those thoughts to their graves.
"Hn, fine," I say out loud. Damn, what the hell was the onna doing to me? Was this still the effects of being hit by the full force of her pure energy earlier? I didn't listen to the onna while she talked to the oaf. She seemed like she had a headache, but I was forcing myself unsuccessfully to not think about her.
"That's fine with me. Hiei?" the fox asks with a smile. I wanted so bad to cut that smile right off his face. My barrier had slipped and I was sure he had heard everything I had thought. The onna didn't, thankfully. I sent a glare in his direction and made a noise that was taken as affirmation.
A human knocks, entering the room with a cart of coffee. He places the six cups on the table and leaves quickly. "Would you like a cup of coffee, Mitsukai?" the fox asks the onna in a voice that made me want to purge my stomach. The onna doesn't respond, she simply continues tensely staring into space.
"Onna," I glare at Kurama. The damn fox.
"Nani?" she asks me in a puzzled tone. Her small body seemed to relax when her eyes landed on me.
"The fox asked if you wanted your coffee."
"Yes, thank you!" She lights up, "could you add seven scoops of sugar, please?"
"Seven?" the fox asks. Hn, that does seem like a lot.
"Yep! I like sweet things!" she exclaims happily. She likes sweet things? Hn. So she must like the fox…not like I care. But, maybe I could be sweeter…Kamifuckdamn. When will the after effects of the onna's stupid energy wear off? I grabbed my cup of coffee without any alterations.
"Careful! It could be poisoned!" the oaf yells stupidly. I notice the onna quickly take a sip of her coffe, staring with pointed delight at the oaf.
"Don't be paranoid. The aim of this tournament is noble," the fox says in what I assume is a sweet tone. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see the onna take another sip from her cup.
"He's right, the aim is to prove yourself in combat." I take a drink of my black coffee to mask the scowl on my face. Agreeing with that baka kitsune was almost painful.
"They wouldn't have gone through the trouble of bringing everyone here just to poison our coffee," the onna says. She takes another sip of her coffee with a small smile. I notice that her eyes seem to be watching something, but I don't sense a thing.
"Well, I'm gonna stick with my trusty aluminum," the oaf says, opening a can loudly.
"Strange. A cup is missing," the fox informs. Glancing at the table, I notice that only one cup is sitting on the table. Odd. The onna also seems to look at the fox in an odd way. It would have enraged me, if not for the feeling I got that the look was one of bewilderment, almost like the fox had said something so stupid that it had to be a joke. The fox and the oaf continue to speculate, but I do not join in. I carefully watch the onna as she quietly sips her coffee with an amused glint in her eyes. When she finishes her coffee, she gently places it back on the table. She looks so beautiful and graceful… If the effects of her energy don't wear off soon, I may have to use my katana to make it stop. Suddenly, there is a loud slurp from behind me, causing the fox, the oaf, and myself to turn quickly.
"What! Where did that guy come from? He must have been here from the start!" the oaf yells. Where had the boy come from? My hand twitches with the desire to reach for my katana, but I don't. The onna is sitting there so casually, could she have known that the boy was there?
"Perhaps, but he took the cup without us noticing," the fox comments. For a moment, the onna seemed annoyed with him.
"No, he entered the room a few minutes ago," she sighs, looking at her empty cup.
"You knew, lady?" the small child asks. I wanted to ask her that, as well. How had she sensed the boy's entrance but neither I nor the fox had?
"Of course, I could see your aura," she responds with an almost bored tone. So, the child must have masked himself from detection but the onna's beau…eyes allowed her to see him. Interesting.
"Why didn't you say anything then!?" the oaf yells at her. Though a valid question, I nearly separated his ugly head from his oafish body for the tone he used.
"Because, he's not malicious, just curious," she responds lazily. It was extremely obvious how bored she was with the situation.
"Let me introduce myself. The name's Rinku. I'm one of the six demons starting the tournament with you," the child informs us.
"The six? I thought there had to be five per team?" the oaf asks. I didn't think he could sound any more idiotic, but he had surprised even me.
"The sixth is the replacement, ne?" the onna questions. There was a suspicious gleam in her captivating silver eyes. What was she planning? She seemed to drift into her own world as the child continued droning on enthusiastically. While the onna dazes out, I take the time to stare at her, entranced by her beauty. Oh, Kami! I'm done fighting this stupid feeling. Maybe if I feed it, it'll go away.
"Rinku, you talk too much," a deep voice says, startling me from my admiring of the onna. I noticed, finally, that she was flushed with some sort of anger or frustration. Thinking about it, I realized it was probably because of the underestimation of the child, telling her he would go easy on her. I look at the man who had just spoken, and realize that not even the onna had noticed the man come into the room.
"Another one! He wasn't there, I'm sure!" the oaf yells. I watch the large man untrustingly, and I step in front of the onna without even noticing.
"Oh! Sorry, Zeru!" the child says, laughing. "I was just playing a game!"
"Profit well from your last night. Tomorrow, you will closely resemble your cup," the man says, before my empty coffee cup is split in half somewhat impressively. That is, until I noticed that the cup was sloppily cut. I push the onna further behind me to protect her, but she seems unperturbed. I imagine she could see the way his energy moved or could tell his intentions. "I do hope the beautiful lady will be watching to see what a real man looks like," the disgusting brute smirks. I couldn't contain the rage that consumed me at this statement. I would fight and crush this pathetic man, then the onna would see the real man in action (not that I care if she thinks I'm a real man).
After the child and the pathetic boy leave the room, the onna places a hand on my shoulder. That simple act calms me down considerably. "Let's all follow Yusuke's example and get some sleep, ne?" the onna smiles that calming, adorable smile of hers. The fox, the clown, and the oaf agree with the onna quite quickly, so I agree as well. "Hiei, can you show me the way to my room? Everything looks the same right now," the onna asks with a cute laugh.
"Hn, fine," I tell her. I could tell she was lying about something, but I hold out my arm to guide her anyways. By this time, the oaf has dragged the detective to their shared room and the clown has disappeared into his room. The only one still in the room with the onna and I was the fox, who wore a stupid grin on his face.
I lead the onna to her bedroom, enjoying every second that her delicate hand is gently gripping my arm. "Thanks, Hiei," she smiles at me. Almost all of my previous anger has dissipated because of her gentle smile and touch. I mumble a noise of affirmation, feeling an unfamiliar rush of blood to my face. The onna had me blushing, for Kami's sake!
"I can't wait to see you fight tomorrow! I bet you'll barely break a sweat when you beat Zeru!" she cheers enthusiastically, her face bright with honesty.
"Hn, get some sleep, onna," I tell her gently, before leaving the room quickly. I know she can't see it, but it felt odd…the strange pull of muscles in my face.
I return to my shared room to find the fox waiting for me. "You look very happy, Hiei," he remarks.
"Hn," I snort, trying to force the tension in my facial muscles to relax.
"You're smiling and blushing, Hiei. When will you stop pretending you feel nothing for Mitsukai?" I'm smiling? Is that what the pull was?
"I don't know what you're talking about, fox," I grunt, stripping down into my underwear for bed.
"Hiei, I know what you were thinking earlier. The way her hair shines in the light, the cute way her bottom lip sticks out. You are in love with our innocent little angel," he comments. The way he called her ours made my blood boil. She wasn't his, at all. She is mine.
"What's your point, fox?" There was not point denying it.
"My point, Hiei, is that I will not concede. Mitsukai did say she likes sweet things, didn't she?" he taunts, before turning the light out and leaving me to lay in my bed confounded and enraged. I would kill the fox yet. Mitsukai is mine, and mind alone. I would make sure of that, no matter what I had to do.
