So, I promised to update quickly. How'd I do? I'm sorry, I'm so very sorry for keeping you all waiting, and thank you if you're still with this story. I suck at chaptered stories, and after I finish this one, I am never doing another one again. I think there will be one more chapter, two if it gets long. But I have no idea when I will get the chance to finish it, so I'm sorry if I keep you waiting again.

Also, FanFiction's formatting is absolutely terrible, so I apologize for any formatting issues that may or may not have occurred.

"So, you still haven't worked things out with Tamaki?" Haruhi asked Kyoya. He just sighed. He didn't want to worry Haruhi on this perfect day. Tamaki, and the host club in general, was a touchy topic, and Haruhi had been reluctant to bring it up for the past month. She only did now because ever since then, Kyoya had been sullen and quieter than usual. Haruhi noticed a change in him, he looked and acted much older. The 17-year-old was a tired, sickly man when he was at school, but changed completely around Haruhi. Although, she could tell he was trying to hide his emotions so she wouldn't worry.

"Honestly, I haven't been thinking about it much." He struggled a smile. "But today I am happy, so I would appreciate it if I could take a raincheck on this conversation."

The previous Friday, Kyoya had met up with Haruhi after they were let out. She started walking home again, now that it was gradually getting warmer and spring was blossoming. Kyoya had been acting so sweet, giving her hugs from behind and tiny kisses when they were alone. Earlier that week, his smile had seemed permanent, but that was before things had started to fall apart inside. After his break off from the host club, he felt free and independent, for about three weeks. It was then that he started to become saddened, and Haruhi noticed his efforts to hide it.

Kyoya walked home with her, and the talked about their plans for the weekend, and laughed at jokes all the way. When they got to Haruhi's door, Kyoya came out with a surprising question.

"So, uh, Haruhi," he started. "You said you were going to be home this weekend, so would you maybe like to go to a movie or lunch or something?" He trailed off, embarrassed, but Haruhi smiled. She paused before saying, "Yeah, of course."

Her boyfriend smiled truly for the first time in that week. He noticed he had been holding his breath, anticipating her answer, and let it out excitedly. "G-great!" he managed. He gave her a quick hug before turning to leave. "How's tomorrow, at 11?"

"Perfect," Haruhi said happily. Kyoya grinned, and left, eagerly waiting for the next day.

Haruhi leaned on the closed door and slid down to sit on the floor. Burying her head in her hands, she grinned like a maniac. She let out a sigh of relief, got up, and grabbed a snack, feeling anxious but excited for morning. She'd never been on a date before. What should she wear? What should she bring? She didn't even know exactly where they were going. But, the worries would come in the morning, and for now she would relax and wait patiently.

When her father got home and she had prepared dinner, they sat down to enjoy their evening meal and talked about how their days went. Eventually, the topic of the next day got around.

"So darling, what are your plans for tomorrow?" her dad asked. "Unfortunately, I have to work. I'm so sorry for leaving you alone. I know we were going to spend some time together finally, but I'm afraid I can't. Maybe on Sunday."

Haruhi went red, not from the thought of hers and Kyoya's date, but she had totally forgotten about her plans with her dad. He hadn't been home at all hardly, and she felt guilty for forgetting.

"I... um, I actually have a-a date." She blushed even deeper as she stuttered.

Ranka was shocked. Once he got over the initial blow, he giggled and threw his arms around Haruhi. "Oh my! My baby girl has a date tomorrow! How sweet!"

Backing off, Haruhi's dad grinned at her. He leaned forward curiously, resting his chin in his hands. "So, who's the guy?"

Haruhi smiled to herself. "Well, Kyoya. You know him, you've met him once or twice."

"Hmm, is he the tall one, with black hair and glasses?" Haruhi nodded.

"Oh, he's a charming boy. I hope you have fun dear! Can I help you get ready?"

She laughed, but agreed. Ranka clapped happily and they went to choose an outfit for the next day.

"Where are you going?" "What are you going to do?" "What time is he coming?" "Oh, this is so exciting!" A barrage of questions flooded Haruhi, and she could barely keep up with them.

"I don't know, I don't know, and 11," she answered.

Eventually, they decided on a pair of black boots, the only pair Haruhi owned, a silvery sweater over a light blue tank, and a pair of dark jeans. She laid it out over the end of her bed and tried to fall asleep, but found she was too excited. She found one of her law books she hadn't finished, and read until she got so tired she fell asleep with it on her chest.

The next day, she woke up automatically and immediately jumped out of bed to get ready. She was excited but exhausted, the latter from not being able to sleep until well past midnight. It was just before 7 o'clock in the morning, but the sun was up and she was ready for the day. She wondered if Kyoya was up, but she figured that was unlikely. He hardly ever woke up before noon. On that note, she wondered why he didn't suggest a later time. She shrugged it off, but the truth was, Kyoya knew what he had done, and he would be alright to get up, if it meant he would see Haruhi.

Haruhi showered and dressed, ready to leave with still two hours to go. Ranka had left already, and she didn't know what to do to occupy the time. She was too distracted to read, to nervous to eat anything more than the apple she'd already consumed, and was too dressed up to do much else, so she turned on the small television and half-watched whatever was on while she let her mind drift.

At 10 minutes to 11, she stood pacing behind the door, anxiously waiting for Kyoya to arrive. She watched the clock tick down to the very last second, and when the hand ticked on the 11, she heard the doorbell pierce the silence in the apartment. Collecting herself, she paused before opening the door. She didn't expect Kyoya to be exactly on time, down to the last second. But, then again, he was known for his intelligence and punctuality.

Nervously, Haruhi cracked open the door. She peered out and saw Kyoya smiling gently at her. He wore a pale yellow blazer over a simple white t-shirt and black dress pants. Without saying a word, he offered his hand to Haruhi, who took it while smiling softly.

The two rode in a limo to a fancy restaurant, one Kyoya had made reservations in. The restaurant had provided a separate room for them, and Haruhi wondered how much Kyoya had spent on this date. How much had he payed for her?

"Wow," she whispered. "This place is amazing."

Kyoya chuckled at her comment. "Yes, it is my family's favorite place to have dinner. We used to come here all the time, but that was when we were young and no one cared about family standing." He sounded nostalgic and slightly upset. He realized this and smiled, his tone lightening. "Shall we sit down?"

Kyoya was the epitome of the perfect host. He removed Haruhi's chair from under the table for her, waited until she sat down, and pushed it in. When the waiter came around for the first time to bring them water and take their order, Kyoya ordered for her what she had previously mentioned.

He smiled and sipped his water politely as they made small talk about the establishment and the faint scent of lavender mingling with the smells coming from the kitchen.

Soon, their small talk turned to a more colorful conversation about their plans for the summer, despite it still being a ways off.

"Every year, my family sends my brothers and I off to some sort of resort, and it's always a surprise to us until about a week before we leave. Could be in the Himalayas, could be in the Philippines, could be in one of the biggest cities in America."

"Wow, that's really exciting! Where was it last year?"

"We went to the World Cup, in Brazil. It was quite crowded, but the food down there is delicious."

The waiter came back with their entrees and refilled their water glasses. Haruhi quickly dug into her tuna, the savory flavor melting in her mouth, just the same as when she'd tried it at the party. Kyoya had ordered an elaborate pasta dish, complete with a mixture of Asian spices and herbs.

After a few minutes of eating in silence, Kyoya spoke up. "You know, I'd like if you came with me on my family's trip."

Haruhi was taken aback by the sudden offer, and she almost choked on a particularly large piece of tuna she had just stuffed in her mouth. She quickly swallowed, took a sip of her water, and said, "That sounds great!"

Kyoya grinned. "Normally I would invite Tamaki, but he is being a rather large prick right now, and I don't know if we will make up by then. And I would prefer you over him anyway."

Haruhi blushed and smiled softly. Yet somewhere in her mind, she was thinking the same thought she'd been having for over a month now.

"Look, I know we've had this conversation before, and I'm sure you don't want to happen again, but one of you needs to be the bigger man and apologize first. You both think it will ruin your pride if you give in first, but you'll forget about this eventually, and someday you'll think this was stupid."

Kyoya sighed, but didn't say anything.

"Say something so I know you're not mad at me," Haruhi pleaded, voice rising in pitch to make it sound like a question rather than a command.

This earned her a small chuckle from Kyoya. "I'm not mad. I know I haven't seemed like myself lately, but this is supposed to be a nice lunch followed by a nice afternoon, so I don't really wish to take this any further. I've been thinking about it, and I know what I need to do, it's just about finding the courage to do it."

Haruhi smiled softly, and Kyoya called the waiter back over for the check, insisting that he will pay.

The limo driver pulled up to the front just as they stepped outside from the dimly lit building to the blinding daylight.

"Now, we are going to go see a movie and take our minds off of reality," Kyoya said.

"Sounds awesome! What movie?"

"Which ever you want to see."

"I don't particularly care, what about you?"

"I don't have a preference, I was hoping you'd pick."

The two bickered about who was going to pick the movie the whole ride to the theater, when the driver just snapped.

"Why don't you just see whatever movie is first on the list?" he said bitterly, but with a joking tone.

"Alright, alright."

Kyoya bought two tickets to see Blissfully Ignorant, an apparent chick-flick movie about twenty-something year old women who are in a book club together. The woman at the ticket booth chuckled as she handed them the tickets.

"If you don't want to see this movie, we don't have to," Haruhi said, giggling herself.

"No, we better see this one. Or else we'll have another argument about what movie. Besides, if this movie is bad, we'll have something to joke about and make fun of later."

The theater was empty except for them and a janitor sweeping up popcorn from the previous showing. He didn't look very excited to be there.

Kyoya held Haruhi's hand throughout the entire introduction, but he kept stealing glances at her as she watched. She would always notice the movement, and turn and smile at him before tearing her eyes away to look at the picture again. She looked captivated in what turned out to be a rather interesting movie. There was lots of drama that Kyoya couldn't even pretend to understand, but it peaked his interest in some places, like when the main character, Amalia, swore that her life was turning out to be just like the book they were discussing, down to the last detail. He got so into it, that he didn't even realize when Haruhi had nodded off, eyes closed but smiling softly. Kyoya let go of her hand and moved to put his arm around her shoulder and pull her closer to his body, kissing her softly on the top of the head. They sat like that for the entirety of the movie, and he didn't wake her until the very end.

Next chapter will be out... who knows when. I will aim to get it done before September.
