Kern grinned at Yasuo "I'm glad you like it. You have been given the tower room, a great honor. Above you, you will find a large library with many books in it already. You may of course add more if you wish. You will first be given a full examination from Sacria's resident healer. You then have a meeting with the headmistress. Depending on what is decided there, you may then come back to your room or we may do something else. Is that acceptable Yasuo Ryu?"
Yasuo blinked and nodded slowly, "Um... sure. You know that you can just call me Yasuo, right Kern?"
The blue-furred creature sighed, "So much to learn. Sacria gave you the name Yasuo Ryu, not just Yasuo, and not just Ryu. You were given a name and you will use it in full. To do otherwise would be a disgrace. Your name is who you are, Sacria gave it to you for a reason. Discover it! Don't ignore you're new identity, not any part of it."
"Okay, sorry I hadn't realized. Do you mind if I ask you a question Kern? It's been bugging me since I met you and I'm curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat you know?" Kern asked with a small frown.
"I know, but the cat had nine lives, satisfaction brought it back, and all that. Besides, I'm not a cat. I'm some sort of back-horned-wizard-thing." Yasuo Ryu wasn't going to be deterred by the old saying.
"If you're sure."
"Okay, well... um... What are you exactly? And are you a male or a female?"
Kern stiffened at the nervous questions ans turned his/her back to Yasuo Ryu. "Male," he said in a tense voice. "Come, the healer is waiting, and the headmistress must be seen after that. We have much to do and little time to do it in. We had better go."
Huh, that's one mystery solved but I wonder what made Kern react that way? Yasuo Ryu thought to himself as he followed his tense companion down a long spiral staircase. After walking through a dozen or so halls they finally made it to a large white room that strongly resembled the hospital wing at Hogwarts.
"Madam Ellena, I've brought the transfer student for his examination!" Kern said to a stern looking woman with short grey hair, and large glasses that were slipping off her nose. He seemed to be feeling better.
Madam Ellena looked up with a bright smile. "Well, sit him down on a bed so we can get started. Yasuo Ryu if I heard right from the headmistress." Kern nodded with a bright smile, pushing the patient down onto a bed happily. Yasuo Ryu was a bit worried at the complete turn around in Kern's behavior, but decided to keep quiet. He didn't want his new friend's mood to take another abrupt downturn. "Alright, just sit tight while I cast some spells that will tell me the condition of your body and give me a complete medical history."
Yasuo Ryu gulped as a long, long, parchment came from Madam Ellena's wand. He whimpered softly as it got longer. Kern and Madam Ellena both had worried and slightly horrified looks. When the parchment finally stopped getting longer the healer took a deep breath and began to read.
