Bully
A/N: Most of this chapter is really hitting a bit close to home for me, but it doesn't matter now. Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone for a favorite, follow, or review. Enjoy.
Maria's POV
'I'm glad mom's back.' I thought, going to my brother's room to see if he was awake or not. Turns out he was already dressed and about to check on me. The only thing that bothered me was his hair.
"What are you doing?" he asked, once I began brushing it.
"Your hair is messy, and it's bothering me." I answered, smoothing out a clump.
He groaned and moved my hand, retorting, "Stop it. I haven't had a chance to ask dad to cut it."
I shrugged, leaving for school with him following behind a few seconds later. I'll be honest, my brother and I don't enjoy school mainly because…
"I thought you were going to skip school, what happened?" Spencer taunted, looking at my brother.
"None of your business."
Yeah, he gets harassed by this idiot and his friend Noah, and me by two girls I barely know. Pushing Spencer out of the way, I walked to my first class while Bryce went to his. And by the time fifth period was over, both of us were sitting in the principal's office with Uncle Sonic, thankfully.
"So you aren't gonna tell mom and dad about this, are you?" I asked, seeing how little he cared about rules.
"Sorry guys, but fighting in school isn't cool. Speaking of which, Shadow did used to get into fights at school, it took four of us to pull him off Scourge once." He answered, looking at us with slight disappointment.
"Seriously? That sounds so awesome!" brother exclaimed, nearly tripping over his own feet as we walked home.
He nodded, replying, "Yep, but I'm sure he doesn't want you two causing trouble at school."
"We didn't even start the fight; it was those two girls and Spencer along with Noah. We were just defending ourselves, right Bryce?"
"Um, yeah, except I might have thrown the first punch." He sort of agreed, chuckling nervously.
"Still, it was in self-defense, and they can't be that mad since they taught us how to fight."
Sonic looked at both of us warily, saying, "That doesn't mean you guys should fight in school, whether your parents teach you how to fight or not."
"But…" I started, meeting his gaze.
"No buts, I'll tell you how not to get in trouble though." He offered, stopping at the corner that led to our house.
"Tell us, please, uncle Sonic?" We asked, clinging to him.
He laughed, and pried us off, saying, "Well, your parents are quite determined to get answers, so the best way to not have them ask questions is to act like nothing's wrong. If that doesn't work then say you're sick and you'll be home free."
"Sounds easy enough." I uttered, once we stood in front of the door.
Jumping at seeing a body fly out the window, Bryce shifted, as uncle Sonic rubbed the back of his head, saying, "I guess they had company…or Sandy was working on a robot. I hope it was the second one."
"Why are you guys home early?"
"Uh, we threw up at lunch and the nurse called uncle Sonic to pick us up." I answered, averting mom's steely gaze.
"Yep, I figured since you'd probably be busy and Shads will be going back to work in a few days, I'd save you two the trouble of going to get them." He added, setting a hand on my shoulder.
I nodded, hoping she wouldn't figure out I was lying and not bring it up again. Stepping aside to let us go inside, I exhaled in relief and at least hoped to make it past dad, which might be a challenge. Peeking over the chair, and seeing the newspaper over his face I shrugged seeing nothing wrong. Walking past him, I checked back to see him not move except for turning on his side. On the brightside, today is Friday so there's at least a small percentage of them hearing about us fighting.
Curling under the covers, I was actually surprised when neither of them asked about school, unfortunately it only made me nervous. Shrugging it off, I drifted off in a state between sleep and alertness.
A/N: I'll be honest; I've never been in a fight. Anyway, due to tests I have taken the next chapter has something to do with dominance. I know it's weird, but bear with me. Review please.
