Chapter 8.

"Dan! Dan!" The loud voice of his sister, Jenny Humphrey, echoed through the loft. A few heartbeats later, his bedroom door opened and there stood Jenny, hand on her waist, foot tapping impatiently.

"What Jen?"

"Why is Blair Waldorf at our house at ten in the evening looking for you?"

"How the hell should I know, Jenny?" Dan groans, turns his back away from her. "You're the one who works for her, not me."

"Humphrey!" a voice so dangerously low, it couldn't have belong to someone else. Chuck. "We need to talk."

"And I thought only Blair is here. Apparently not." Dan sighs as he throws the covers back and stood up. "Chuck's also here?"

Slowly, grudgingly, after taking forever to fix himself up, he walks over to the living room where Jenny, Chuck and Blair stood, waiting for him.

The first thing that happened was Blair's hand connecting to his cheek. Chuck chuckles and Jenny squeaks but when he looked at Blair, she's glaring at him so much that if looks could kill, well, Dan wouldn't want to know what will happen to him. Dead, probably.

"You little bastard." Blair yells, after stepping back and walking over to Chuck. "I always knew you weren't good enough for Serena but after what I learned, I'm surprised Jenny's still talking to you."

"What are you talking about?"

"What is she talking about, Dan?"

"How could you do that to her? After everything she did for you!"

"Okay Blair, what on earth are you - -"

"Oh, for crying out loud Humphrey!" Blair throws her hands up in the air. "Serena! She told me what happened. Why you two got divorced."

"She told you?" Dan asks, a bit surprised. When Serena asked him to get his stuff from the penthouse, she also made him promise not to tell anyone about the real reason why they were getting divorced. So, whenever Jenny or Rufus or Nate or Vanessa asks why, he simply shrugs at them before asking them to shut up and not talk about it at all. Rufus and Nate seemed to get the message but every once in a while Jenny or Vanessa still pesters him with the question, which he responds the same way every time.

'Shut up! I don't wanna talk about it anymore, okay? So, just shut up.'

But then again, this is Blair Waldorf we're talking about. And he is honestly more surprised that it took Serena two years to tell her best friend the truth. He was pretty sure that Serena would've told Blair the real reason of their separation a few days after the divorce was final.

"I was right. From the very beginning I told Serena you don't belong in this world, in our world - -"

"Hold up. Your world?"

"Yes, Dan!" Blair sighs loudly, rolling her eyes. "Our world, as in the Upper East Side. But you know, Serena tried everything to bring you in it. And that is how you repay her?"

"Wait a minute." Chuck interferes, eyeing Dan for a moment before turning to his wife. "What are you talking about Blair?"

"This." She yelled, getting a piece of paper from her bag. "This is what I'm talking about."

"What is that?" Jenny pipes out from where she stood, reaching out for the paper.

"Why do you have that?" Dan lamely asks, watching as Blair hands the paper to Jenny who eagerly took it and scanned it.

"This is a check worth 15 million dollars!" Jenny yells, looking at Dan. "Why is it named to you?"

"Jen - -"

"That's because, Little J, that is the check that William van der Woodsen gave your brother to divorce Serena."

Jenny looks at Dan surprised, making him feel ashamed.

"You didn't think about accept this, right Dan?" Jenny asks, her voice filled with disbelief. Never in a million years would it ever cross her mind that his brother could do this, especially to Serena, who he waited his whole adolescent life, his whole life for.

"Jenny, I - -"

"Dan! Please tell me you didn't, you couldn't do such a thing, Dan!"

"I didn't." Dan finally admits, earning a relieved sigh from Jenny. He didn't, he almost did but he didn't. In fact, upon seeing the check, he remembers exactly what he did.

"Then what - -?"

"Shut up, Jenny! I don't wanna talk about it!"

He turns to leave, to go back in his bedroom and maybe lock himself in there all night, maybe even the day after. But he stops when Blair spoke, revealing to everyone in the room why his marriage didn't work out.

"You cheated on her."

He freezes, feeling his sister's stare slowly turning into a glare. He doesn't want to turn around to face her but he did and it's Jenny's hand now that comes in contact with his face.

"I'm so sorry." Jenny whispers, hand covering her mouth, eyes tearing up.

Dan shakes his head, telling her that it's okay, that he understands and looks at Blair and Chuck with a guilty look etched on his face.

"Georgina Sparks, Dan? Really?" Blair's voice is so judging and he knows he deserve that. The glares, the harsh words, the judging tone. He knows he deserve it, he's not even going to deny that.

"Georgina?! You cheated on her with Georgina?" And now Jenny's voice is coated with judgment and disbelief as well. Not that he blames her or anything because if roles were reversed, he'd probably be judging his sister as well.

"And yet he has the nerve to date Georgina and flaunt her in our faces! Ever heard of shame, Humphrey?"

Okay, yes, he admits, bringing Georgina over to every party and family gatherings is a terrible idea, especially with what happened and since every single one of his friends and family hates her. And it certainly doesn't help that Georgina shows up to these events whether or not she's invited. But when he first brought her to the loft for a family dinner, Rufus and Jenny, although very reluctantly, welcomed her as Dan's girlfriend so he thought it might be okay since no one knows what really happened between Serena and him. Not a very wise decision now that he thought about it.

"Look, I know it sounds bad - -"

"Bad?!" Blair literally screams that Dan is almost certain she could be heard outside. "Dan, what you did is not bad, it is actually worse than that!"

"Yeah. Dating the girl you cheated on your wife with?" Jenny adds. "It's worse than when you and Serena had sex while you were still dating Blair because this time you and Serena were already married."

"I know, okay? I didn't mean to - -"

"Still doesn't change the fact that you did." Jenny counters, her voice in a teasing way. She might have sounded like she's just joking around with Dan but the look on her face says otherwise.

"Stay away from her, Dan." Blair warns, one last time. "Do not even think of coming near her because if I hear that she cried again because of you, I swear Humphrey, there will be consequences. You will pay for it."

She turns to leave and was already halfway out when she looks back to see Chuck walking up to Dan, giving him a harsh glare before punching him in the face.

"Dan!"

"Remember the black eye you gave me, Humphrey?" He waits for him to stand up before continuing. "I think I still owe you one more. But I think I'll spare you that, for now."

Dan rubs his jaw as he watches Blair and Chuck exit the loft. He glanced at Jenny to see her disappointed eyes staring back at him. He made a move towards his sister but she quickly took a step back, sending something very clear to Dan.

She doesn't want to talk to him. Not right now at the very least. He knows the truth is a lot to take in and he now realizes that the reason Serena wanted to keep this secret of theirs is to not make everyone turn against him. When he saw Jenny's reaction, he knew that everyone will react the same. Not the he could blame them, though. Who would've thought that Serena was still looking out for him even after what he did? She prevented him from losing his friends and he was grateful for that.

He went to his room but after a couple minutes, he went out in hopes that Jenny would hear him out. But when he stepped outside his room, he saw Jenny putting on a coat, ready to go out.

"Hey, where are - - where you going, Jen?"

Jenny stops, glances at Dan before grabbing her purse from the table. She opens the door before turning back to Dan.

"Just, you know... Out."

"Jen, I'm sorry. You know that." Jenny gives him a weak smile but a smile nonetheless. Still, it gives him hope. Hope that no matter what happens, at least one person will forgive him and be by his side.

"I know. But you know, it's not me you should be saying sorry to."

He does know that. He just doesn't know how, yet.

"I'm actually going to stop by at Lily's. I'll be dropping off some of the gown sketches I made. You gonna be okay here?"

"Yeah." He nods.

"I'll be back in about an hour. Bye Dan!"

"Bye Jen."

.to be continued.

A/N: Yay! A new chapter, finally! I'm very sorry for the delay guys. But since school ended and it's officially our summer vacation (Yay!), hopefully, I'd be able to update more often. HOPEFULLY! *fingers crossed* But, I will most likely update again uhh... Next week. (I'm not really sure.)

Anyway, for those who were confused, I hope this clarifies why everyone is surprised why Dan and Georgina are together. Neither Dan nor Serena told anyone why they got divorced, so... Yeah.

I hope you enjoyed! xx
