Don't you dare look at him in the eye

A/N: So the chapters might be late, I'm not sure yet, but for now I may try to update on certain days or whenever I can. Also I love making Shadow transform, even though I don't own the form.

Shadow's POV

"I'm supposed to be protecting them, but how can I protect them from myself?" I murmured, holding my head in my hands. I've grown to hate lunar eclipses because of what I become, the state I'm in; the state of lunacy and death.

'The state of perfection.' IT says, stretching. 'It's about time I met them, especially her.'

I growled, warning, "If anything happens to them, I will exert you from my body and kill you."

'Oh, relax; I'll leave the children alone. Your wife, however, I don't think we'll see father tonight.' IT replies, grinning devilishly.

Going outside, I yelled, "Like hell you will, I refuse to let her think I'm some sort of deviant."

'Sure, you know you enjoy having her pinned beneath you and panting.' IT states, scratching at my chest determined to get out.

Trying not to let my anger get the better of me, I stayed silent. Groaning at feeling the sharp pain in my shoulder blades, I clenched my hands into the ground as I crouched feeling my bones snap as the wings grew. Feeling the feathers and horns adorn them, I flexed them, making sure to fold them so I wouldn't seem as menacing. Knowing she was in the lab by now, I chuckled and murmured, "Seems like my (1) Beute is quite lively."

Luckily I have some control over this or none of this would've been pretty. "Frau, come outside with me." I stated, throwing a red dress her way, adding, "Put that on also, I'll be waiting."

Straightening my tie, I waited until I heard the soft click of heels. Unfolding my wings, I outstretched my hand for her to take it. Setting a hand on her hip, I softly sung, "Here I stand, helpless and left for dead."

As the song continued to play, I noticed she didn't make any eye contact with me. Even after I arose from the ground, still no eye contact; a squeak of surprise, but not a glimpse of her green, vibrant eyes. Floating down once the last verse played, I wrenched her chin up, forcing her to look at me. Capturing her lips, I snaked my tongue past her lips exploring every inch I could reach. She tasted sweet, a bit bitter, and yet so pure.

Growling softly, I wrapped her legs around me, determined to keep her as close as possible. Earning a whimper, I grinned, deepening the kiss, making it more frantic. Pulling away, she blushed heavily seemingly awaiting my next move. Feeling the ground shake, I mentally swore, setting Female down and making sure she was inside.

"You just had to come now, old man." I said, feeling my horns grow in.

He only nodded, replying, "Well, I wouldn't want my heir to regret anything. Since you utterly refused to come to the conference, I think we should have a little talk."

Dragging me to the Black Comet despite my protests, he threw me in a nearby chair, saying, "First off, I didn't bring you here to make you king, I'll just wait until your son is older since you have no interest."

"Stay away from my son; he doesn't need to get sucked into this."

"Trying to keep them from learning about dear, old dad, smart move; the real problem is your mother."

Squeezing my eyes shut, I gulped feeling my scars start to throb. He continued, "Yes, the biological one, turns out she's still alive and healthy."

I frowned, muttering, "Why? How do you even know this?"

"I know it shocked me too. I might have possessed a guard at the prison and asked around; I thought she was dead all these years."

I grunted, mumbling, "I wish she was."

"That's still your mother, boy. Have some respect." He scolded, apparently trying to keep himself under control.

Digging my hands into the desk between us, I retaliated, "Bullshit! You weren't even there when she broke me. You never were! You left me with a fucking monster and expected me to rule over a god damned kingdom. What kind of father are you?"

"I'm proud to have you appointed as my heir. Having you live with your mother was my best option, but living with me would've killed you whether you're immortal or not." He said calmly, only aggravating me more.

I stood, replying, "So having me become broken and nearly dead was your best option? I was lucky to only get hit once or yelled at. I was lucky to meet that blue idiot and his friends, hell I was lucky to have a family of my own."

He didn't say anything; silence filled the area as he frowned, before saying, "I'm sorry for putting you through that. Go home and try to clear your head."

I calmed down a bit and nodded, turning to leave before reverting into my original form, groaning softly as the wings and horns sunk back into my skin. Deciding to use the window instead, I closed it locking it after checking to see if it was secure.

Turning on the shower head, I stepped under it letting the warm water help get rid of memories, ones I didn't want nor need right now. Drying off, I sighed, running a hand through my quills not believing she was still alive. Exiting the bathroom, I noticed Sandy was awake. "Sorry if I woke you. Go back to sleep."

"It's okay. Are you feeling alright?" She asked, frowning slightly.

"Yeah, I just needed to take a walk." I lied, hoping she'd buy it and go back to sleep.

Sliding next to her, I huffed as she pouted, inquiring, "Are you sure nothin' is wrong?"

"Yes, don't worry about it. Quit being so persistent, and go to sleep."

She didn't argue back and lied next to me, rubbing my ear until she fell asleep. Pulling her towards me, I stroked her hair finally calming down enough to sleep myself.

A/N: Yeah, near the end I had no idea where to go with it, but then I remembered chapter 23 mentioning his mother. So I decided to bring that back up, and she will appear in a future chapter. It may have flashbacks and possible nightmares, so take heed. Anyway, I might take a break considering have tests at school. Review please. (1) "Prey"
