Don't leave me with her!
A/N: I had a small technical difficulty, so that's why it didn't come out sooner than I expected. Anyway, I hope it never happens again and enjoy.
Shadow's POV
'Having her mother here can't be that bad…now.' I mentally reassured myself, hearing the click of suit cases closing. "Do you really have to go to that convention?" I nearly whined, watching her push one of the suitcases towards the door.
"Yes, you've never worried about that before. Are you sick?" She asked, touching my face and checking my temperature.
I frowned, answering, "No, but I might be if I have to spend the rest of the week with your mother. I'm telling you she doesn't like me."
"Relax, what's the worst that could happen?"
"You really want to go there. Don't you have a plane to catch?" I dead-panned, handing her the suitcases.
Rushing out, she called, "I'll call when I get there."
I nodded, closing the door behind her. Throwing on a white shirt and jeans, I planned to work on my motorcycle, if it hadn't been for Female's mother coming at the same time. Her smile dropped a bit, as she asked, "Where's Sandy?"
Carrying her luggage to the back, I answered, "Convention, it was last minute so she had to leave early."
"Have you two heard anything from Calvin?" She asked, sitting on the edge of one of the couches. And just when I thought it'd be easy.
"No, not a thing after we got married." I answered, sitting across from her trying not to show my discomfort.
She smiled, replying, "It's almost like he disappeared off the face of the Earth."
Shit, does she know? I mean, yeah I burnt his body after I killed him, but there's no way anyone would find his ashes. "I guess so." I agreed, keeping up the calm façade.
"It's a shame you had to come into the picture. I guarantee you she would've been better off without you." She stated, causing me to clench my fist a little.
Normally, I would've gone outside swearing all the way, instead I asked, "Is that so? You wouldn't mind telling me why you think that way about me?"
She smiled, answering, "Well, after she moved to Bikini Bottom I just wanted for her to settle down and stop being so reckless with all the stunts. Once I heard about you and how much you two argued; I had a feeling she'd take that as encouragement and continue doing stunts but involving someone as protective as you."
She stopped, seeing if I had anything to say. Taking my silence for her to continue, she said, "With you in the picture, I didn't want anything happening to her, so I arranged a meeting between her and Calvin once she got back to Bikini Bottom. She accepted and that's how they met. But she wouldn't stop talking about you, and Calvin proposed."
"So, you basically set her up with someone to keep her away from me?" I asked, getting a nod in reply.
"I did, everything was falling into place until you got stuck in her dome. And clearly I had to do something before she forgot about her engagement, and after I got that call about her not wanting to marry anymore; I knew I had to get rid of you somehow." She paused, smiling a bit. "So when you left or she kicked you out, I merely pushed her towards marrying Calvin but you, bein' like a parasite, kept coming back."
"Because I only wanted to protect her from him; you might not have seen it, but he only wanted to marry her just so he could tap into her finance." I replied, now clenching and unclenching my fists.
"I doubt that. If you hadn't been around her so much, then she would've been settled down and stayed away from the likes of you. But, no, you corrupted her into thinking you loved her."
"I actually do, unlike that greedy bastard. I wouldn't have cared if she went missing or was sick if I didn't. Hell, I wouldn't argue with her or do something to get her attention if I didn't. I wouldn't have even met her if I didn't love her." I replied, standing over her.
She was going to retort, but the phone cut her off before she could say one word. Picking it up, I cringed at hearing that sickening sweet tone. "Mother…why are you calling?"
"I can't check on my only son, you really have changed."
"No thanks to you." I mumbled, gripping the phone.
Hearing her laugh on the other line, she said, "I can't wait to see how much you've grown."
Slamming it down, I turned back to Jodi, running my hands through my quills. She smirked, saying, "Before I was interrupted; I was saying you can't possibly believe that."
"Maybe that's because you haven't given me a chance. What do you have against me?" I asked, sitting back down.
She frowned, answering, "You ruined my daughter's life by meeting her in the first place."
I laughed bitterly, replying, "If anything I fixed her life. If she did marry Calvin then she'd be dead by now."
She didn't say anything or even look at me. Going to the back, I heard her mumble, "You are nothin' more than a thorn in my side."
Sighing, I showered and went to bed hoping this whole thing could dissolve into nothing.
A/N: So. Much. Dialogue! I'm sorry if it overwhelms you, I just had to. So Sandy's mother still hates him, if you've read Stay with Me it'll make sense. Any questions? Review please.
