Am I the enemy?

A/N: So I'm getting my tablet in two days. Hopefully this chapter won't be full of dialogue like the previous one.

Werewolflover99: Sandy's mother hates Shadow, not Calvin. The reason why is because she wanted Sandy to get married to someone her same species, and she thinks Shadow ruined her (Sandy's) life by marrying her.

Shadow's POV

Staring at the ceiling, I groaned not wanting to face my mother-in-law or worry about my biological mother finding me. Feeling the ground shake, I growled and sat up meeting Black Doom's gaze.

"What is it?" I asked, not in the mood to deal with him.

Closing his eyes, he answered, "Your energy keeps fluctuating, and it seems like you didn't sleep last night."

Folding my arms, I replied, "I did, just not very long. Why are you here?"

"I wanted to see if you were okay. Especially after what she said, I could feel it tearing you apart." He said, setting a claw on my shoulder.

"At least you're trying. I don't care what she said, that doesn't change the fact I married and had kids with her daughter. My only concern is that I keep them safe."

He nodded, saying, "Your mother is in my custody, but I'm trying not to let her get to you. I'm…proud of you, boy. I admit; I was quite jubilant to hear you were eloping."

"Yeah, you're definitely the best father ever. I don't know what I'd do without you." I snapped, causing him to frown.

Poking me in the chest, he retaliated, "Look, boy, if it hadn't been for me you wouldn't be alive. I'm trying, that's the least I could do. If her mother is your problem, don't you dare take it out on me."

"Fine, just go away for now, I'm not in the mood to talk about my problems. Wait, so you didn't come to force me to be king?" I asked, glancing at him briefly.

"No, not this time; you'll know when I am. I should go; I think her mother is coming." He replied, closing the portal behind him.

Lying back down, I swore under my breath at hearing the door creak open.

"I know y'all are up." She said, coming into the room.

Turning towards her, I sat up, as she asked, "Has she called yet?"

"No, not yet at least." I answered, maintaining eye contact with her.

She scoffed, retaliating, "At least we have one common interest, keeping that girl out of trouble."

I grunted in reply, before asking, "Why didn't you want me to marry her?"

"Like I said yesterday, you ruined her chances of being happy. Have you ever wondered if she's afraid of you?"

I shook my head, replying, "No. If…forget it, you'd probably ignore me anyway."

"Go on, I don't…"

"If she wasn't happy, then she wouldn't have agreed to be my wife." I intervened, getting up and putting on sweatpants.

She smirked, replying, "She actually looked quite happy when Calvin asked her to marry him."

"I bet it was false, when I stuck with her for seventy days, I feel the fear radiating off her whenever he was near her. That's when…"

"Not every relationship is perfect. I mean you guys argue all the time, so what if she was afraid of him? It would've passed."

Staying silent, I walked past her into the living room, she continued, "You'll only end up hurting her, and I can't have that. So either I can move her back to Texas or you file a divorce."

Turning around, I grounded out, "There is no way in hell I'd ever do that to her or my children. Do you honestly think I'd crazy enough to do something that fucking stupid?"

I swear this woman is trying my patience; I didn't even do anything. She shook her head and left, smiling softly.

'Howdy.'

I smirked at hearing her voice ring through my head. Going outside, I replied, "I take it you made it there."

'Yep, it's quite nice over here. I've always wanted to go to Russia.' She said, smiling brightly. I guess speaking to people telepathically has its advantages.

"Please tell me you'll be back soon." I stated, feeling a vein in my arm pulsate.

'You guys are arguing, aren't y'all?' She asked, letting out a sigh as I nodded. 'Can't y'all get along just this once, do it for me.'

Clenching my jaw, I replied, "Fine, but she started it."

She laughed, saying, 'I knew you could be childish at some point. Don't worry; I'll be back in four or three days.'

Hanging up, I stayed outside for a while seeing it started to rain. Closing my eyes, I leaned against the door contemplating why her mother didn't like me. It's not like I'm controlling her or anything. I guess I can get the kids tomorrow. I mean that way I won't go berserk and destroy anything.

"What do you want, Silver?" I asked, meeting golden irises.

He shifted, and looked at the ground, answering, "Blaze's dad is in town, and I was wondering if I could with you until he leaves."

"Looks like we're in the same boat; Female's mother is visiting and she's pissing me off. I guess you could, but just ignore her for now." I replied, letting him in before me.

"Is she really that bad?"

"Yes, she's driving me to the brink of insanity. Remember when I told you about the guy Sandy was going to marry?"

He nodded, asking, "Wasn't he a douche?"

"He was the definition." I answered, chuckling lightly. I won't admit it, but I think of Silver like a little brother. Continuing our talk about Calvin, I waited until he yawned, using the couch for a bed. Going to bed myself, I buried my face into the pillow determined to sleep.

The only thing keeping me awake was the potential fear of my mother still coming for me. Turning, I closed my eyes finally feeling fatigue wash over me.

A/N: I don't have much to say about this chapter. Review please.
