Chapter 21.

"Hey." He greeted once the door opened and revealed Georgina. He shoved his hands inside his pockets nervously. He thought about getting her flowers but then decided against it. Who would give someone flowers before doing what he's going to do?

"You're late." She declares once he's inside and has shut the door behind him, sitting on the couch and going back to filing her nails.

"So, what did you want to talk about?" Georgina asks the minute she saw that Dan was seated on the couch across her. He doesn't answer, just staring at his feet, fiddling with his hands.

This continued for a couple more minutes before she lets out a sigh, feeling slightly annoyed at him already.

"Are you going to talk anytime soon? Seriously Humphrey, you're wasting my precious time."

"I need to talk to you..."

"No shit." Georgina spats out, glaring at him. "Well..." She was really starting to get impatient with him. "Spit it out already!"

"I... Umm..."

"Let me guess..." Georgina raises an eyebrow at him. "...This is about Serena, isn't it?"

"Yeah..." He draws out slowly, hoping not to get a very violent reaction. She, thankfully, just stayed on her seat, still with an eyebrow raised.

"Okay, that was expected."

"What?"

"Ever since she came back, everything with you seems to be about the golden girl even though I am your girlfriend."

"Look, I'm sorry."

"Whatever! Now, tell me, what happened?"

He stops then. He's quite afraid of what was to happen - Georgina's calm demeanor is not helping at all. He honestly thought she would be more livid, more angry, more - well, definitely not this.

"I.. Umm... Georgina, I -"

"You what Dan?"

"I kissed her." This time it was Georgina who stops her actions, staring at him with a surprised look etched on her face.

"Oh." She draws back to lean on the couch, dropping her nailfile on the table in front of her. "When?"

God, why is she so calm? This is Georgina Sparks he's talking to, right?

"A few weeks ago, when Serena invited me to have dinner and then again at Nate's birthday party last week."

"Wait, what?"

"I'm so sorry, Georgina. I -"

"You cheated on me?" Georgina practically shrieks and then she goes to slap him. Harder than he actually expected. When he came here, he really did expect her to do such a thing - actually, he was expecting something much worse. But this was kind of thing that he imagined Georgina would actually do.

"Georgina, I -"

"Wait, so are you breaking up with me?"

"Georgina -"

"You know what? Shut up." She walks away from him and leans on the wall near the door. She's staring at him, not glaring, which surprised him because he honestly thought she would want to cut his head off right about now.

Then she walks over to him again slowly, and he's preparing for the worst. He closes his eyes and waits for something to happen - maybe another slap or something, he's not really sure. But after quite some time, nothing happens so he opened one eye and saw Georgina plopped down the chair she was occupying awhile ago.

When she saw that he had opened his eyes, she smirked at him in a very taunting manner.

"What did you think was going to happen?"

"I dunno. I guess for you to slap me again or something. I did cheat on you." He answers slowly, wary on what comes out of his mouth. One wrong word and he knows, all hell will break loose.

"So, Humphrey... Are you or are you not breaking up with me?"

"Georgina, I am so sorry... I never wanted -"

"I'll take that as a yes then?" Georgina queered, staring at him again. When he finally nods, she sighs, closing her eyes for a few seconds before opening them to look at him. "Whatever! I was going to break-up with you anyway. Whatever. Okay."

Okay? Okay?! Has Georgina been kidnapped and been replaced with a kinder, nicer version of Georgina Sparks? Okay? That's it? That's all she has to say? Because he really, really did not see that coming. He expected a much more dramatic break-up, probably with more yelling, and maybe throwing some things at him, and cursing him, claiming to get back at Serena, something, anything. Anything but this.

"You're not mad?" Dan just had to ask, just to make sure that this is not just his imagination.

"Do you want me to be?" Georgina raised an eyebrow at him, as if challenging him.

"Well, I just - I expected a little more, I dunno..."

"Remember Thanksgiving about 7 or 8 years ago? When you were releasing your exposes on all the Upper East Siders?" She asks. "I asked you if you wanted to win or if you just wanted to win Serena. Do you remember what you told me?"

He remembers that. He could still imagine Georgina's voice when she asked him that question.

'Do you wanna win? Or do you just wanna win Serena?'

"There is no winning without Serena."

"Exactly." Georgina smirks. "I always knew something like this would happen once Serena comes back. It did not cross my mind that you would actually cheat on me - I've always thought you were too loyal, I guess not. But I knew once she returned that we would be over soon. Because, I know, right from the very beginning, you've always wanted her and you will always want her. All the time. And to be honest, I was just having fun watching Serena squirm and suffer at the thought of us dating."

"Wait, so you're really not mad?"

"Please." She scoffs, as if what he asked is the most ridiculous thing she has ever heard. "I would not spend my precious time bawling over losing you to Serena. I've got better things to do with my life."

"You probably should go, Humphrey. You're not exactly welcome here anymore."

"Georgina, I'm -"

"Save it, Brooklyn. Stop saying you're sorry, seriously, it's getting annoying." She rolls her eyes at him, and he already knows, after today, if they come across each other again - which is highly likely - that she's going to be an even meaner bitch to him than before, bitchier that how she is with Blair, Serena and the whole gang. "Just leave before I shove you out of my apartment."

Finally, he makes a move to leave but once his hand came touched the doorknob, she called out to him again, so he turns to face her.

"Hey, you're a good man, Humphrey. You're actually one of the decent guys I've dated. Even though you never actually loved me but whatever. So, good luck with trying to win back Serena, okay?"

"Uhhh... Thanks?"

She gives him a small smile which he returns before he opened the door and slipped out of the apartment.

...

He doesn't know why, but it is as if a huge weight has been lifted off his shoulders. Sure, he doesn't exactly consider Georgina a burden - well, not all the time - but once he's out on the streets of New York, he can't explain it but he feels... Lighter, more free.

Suddenly, as he steps out of the cab, his phone rings. He takes it out of his pocket before answering, not even bothering to look at who's calling.

"Hello?"

"Hey Dan! You busy tonight?"

"Vanessa! Why - why'd you call?"

"Hey, I can't call out of the blue anymore?" There was playfulness in her voice and he can't help but roll his eyes. "And to think I'm your so-called best friend! I'm offended Humphrey!"

"Whatever V! But, seriously, what to do want?"

"Oh, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out? Maybe watch a movie, play scrabble or something?"

"I actually can't right now so..."

"Why not?" She queered.

"I've got stuff to do..."

"What kind of stuff?"

"None of your business, Abrams."

"Okay, okay." He could hear her giggling softly on the phone. "No need to get all angry."

"I'm sorry, I just -"

"Are you nervous? Because you sound nervous."

"Why - why would I be nervous? Don't be ridiculous."

"Well, I don't know. But hey, whatever it is, I'm sure you'll be fine."

"Thanks Vanessa!" A huge smile creeps on his face. They bid their goodbyes - Vanessa saying that since he's "busy" that she'll just have to call someone else. He scoffs, chuckling before hanging up and heading towards he loft.

...

He finally shuts the door of the loft, a small smile still evident on his face. He'd be lying if he said that he wasn't at least a bit sad about what happened - Serena or no Serena, Georgina was still his girlfriend, and breaking up with someone is not a pleasant experience altogether. But, he couldn't help but feel somewhat relieved, feel happy that that part of his life is done, he's ready to move on. He's ready to tell, to show Serena that he loves her, that he still does, that he never stopped. And that he will do anything, everything to get her back.

"Jenny? Jenny, you home? Dad? Anyone home?" He waits a few seconds for a response and when he doesn't get any, he stalks up to her room to check if she's really out or not. Sometimes, Jenny plugs in her earphones and drowns the rest of the world out, so he wouldn't be surprised if she's in her room, probably watching 'Dirty Dancing' for the millionth time. He peeks slightly in her room, and sees it completely made up.

"Oh, good! They're all out." He mutters to himself with a smile before walking back to the living room, taking his phone out and calling a very familiar number.

"Hey, this is Serena. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can, okay?" Beep.

"Hey, uhh, Serena. It's me, umm, Dan. We umm... we need to talk. I - I need to talk to you. So, I was wondering if we could meet? I'll be waiting for you... I'll be at Central Park. I don't exactly know if you'll even show up but just know that I'll be waiting for you, for uhh... For however long it takes. There's something you need to know, something I need to tell you. Uhh... so, that's it. Umm.. bye." Click.

.to be continued.

A/N: Okay, this is not my best work. I'm sorry if this turned out to be disappointing, I'll try to be better next time.

And I'm also sorry for not updating last week. I've been busy with mostly school stuff and it's been pretty stressful the past weeks so I apologize.

Okay, so the break-up scene happened that way - Georgina staying calm and being a little bit OOC and suc - because I think that they did not really love each other. Their relationship is sort of just convenient for the both of them and they just kind of got stuck with each other, Idk. And I truly believe that the reason why Georgina dated Dan in the first place is to show everyone, especially Serena, that she won and to rub it in everyone's faces.

I hope this was okay. :) I'll try and make the next chapter better.

Tell me all your thoughts, please? Reviews, as I always say, are very much welcome and appreciated. Sorry for all the spelling and grammar mistakes. I hope you enjoyed this though! Til next time! xx
