Menace

A/N: Sorry for not posting at all for a while. School has ended and I'm ready to enjoy my summer. Anyway, after this chapter there will be a time skip so we can get to more interesting things. Enjoy.

Christian Wolf99: I don't think I'll make a sequel, turning this into a series of sorts. But if I do by some chance, I'll try not to make it super long, and the children and whatnot will make an appearance or have some attention.

Shadow's POV

Sitting up, I exhaled, relieved to not be covered in hay. Stretching, I froze noticing her brother was there. He flashed a grin acknowledging my presence. "I thought you weren't comin'." He said, leaning on the doorway.

"I had a change of plans, and it's pretty nice here." I replied, glancing around the barn.

He sighed, thinking it would go unnoticed. He later said, "I dunno why she chose to stay here."

"This is where most of it happened, right?" I asked, frowning deeply at the thought playing over and over.

He nodded, answering, "Unfortunately so, I was glad when she tol' us he died."

"Yes, it was quite thrilling to watch."

"Ya mean she…"

"Yes, I had to take her to the hospital and dispose of his body after. Luckily, she had nothing to do with Calvin." I replied, watching him relax a bit.

He later chuckled, saying, "I won't lie, you practically fit in here. I wish she woulda found you sooner."

"I think we would've killed each other if we met any sooner. Besides I'm already a goddamn menace to your mother." I replied, now standing next to him.

"Naw, she's just complicated. They should be talkin' now; where'd that mark come from?" He asked, glancing at my collarbone.

Peering down, I smirked at the purple mark marring my skin. I snickered, answering, "Your sister, and to think she'd have the decency to do it while I was awake."

He laughed and blushed lightly, joking, "You'd better take it up with 'er if it's that special."

I nodded briefly, retorting, "It's an official bond, claiming ownership over the receiver."

He nodded briefly as I went past him to the house. Slipping in through the back door, I slithered into the shadows available only to stop at the kitchen entrance.

"It's jus' a consideration, does he even care?"

"Course he cares; it's just in a different way an' not all that affectionate."

'Is she really that determined to tear us apart? I thought my mother was crazy, but this is a new level.' I thought, barely listening to their conversation now. Leaving, I ran into my son nearly falling with him.

Watching him get up, he rubbed the back of his head, saying, "I didn't know you were here. I thought you were still gone."

"I got here yesterday, but keep this between you and me. I don't want your grandmother on my case for the rest of the day." I replied, cracking my neck. He nodded and left going into the kitchen.

Going outside, I jumped back as a steed galloped past with Randy running after him. A few seconds later he returned except the horse was chasing him. Running into the pin, he closed it jumping out once it charged at him.

"Stupid devil horse." He muttered, catching his breath.

Making my way over, I grinned, asking, "What's up with this one?"

He glared at it, answering, "It ain't nothin' but trouble; no one's been able to get near it ever since it came here."

"Let me in with him."

Opening the pin, he stated, "It's your funeral."

Moving as it charged at me, I grabbed the reins off the wall. Stamping its hoof twice, it accelerated towards me once more knocking me to the ground. Feeling my heart race, I rolled from under it. Jumping on its back, I grabbed it by the neck as it reared back fully determined to get me off. Hooking the reins on, it bucked.

Gasping for air, I groaned as the dust cleared and it was gone. Coming out of the pin, I growled and turned to Randy, asking, "Which way did it go?"

"You sure you wanna go after that thing?" He inquired, looking over me. "It looks like you cracked your skull."

"I'm fine, just a minor injury." I replied, setting after the damned horse ignoring his protests. Finding it grazing behind the barn, I crouched behind a bush. Maneuvering towards it, I noticed how normal it seemed when no one was around. Pouncing on it, I held onto the reins as if my life depended on them.

After having it calm down, I muttered, "We're going back to that pin."

Spurring it forward, I looked into its eyes and chuckled, saying, "No wonder why you're a danger to them. I guess he was right; you are a devil horse. I'll just call you Diablo."

Having it buck, I kicked it, muttering, "We're not going through this again."

Putting him back in the pin, well more like pushing him in, I huffed realizing Randy and my father-in-law were looking as if I killed Cthulhu, which might be possible considering my lineage.

"What?" I asked as they continued gawking.

"How'd ya even…well at least he didn't harm you." Wilfred answered, clearing his throat after.

"Diablo wasn't much of a challenge. There's no way I'm letting some stupid horse get the best of me." I retorted, hearing him neigh in supposed disagreement.

"And he named it. You can take him if you want." Randy persisted, lightly smiling.

I shook my head, turning to leave only to fall to the ground at having Maria launch herself towards me. Pushing her off me, I sat up, remarking, "I swear you're more like your mother."

She chuckled, replying, "I guess, how come you didn't see us yesterday? Is it because of grandma?"

I nodded in reply, saying, "I'm assuming your mother told you everything. I'm surprised she didn't start ranting about how much we yelled at each other."

"She did, it was…surprising, for lack of a better word."

Grinning, I stated, "Come to think of it, I haven't forced her to train. I need to, between you and me; she needs it more than I do."

Tilting her head to the side, she questioned, "Why? It's not like she gets into fights anymore."

"Trust me, she does. Besides her prowess is getting low and it won't be fun to challenge both of us." I answered, resting my chin in my hand.

Leaning towards me, she pinched my cheek then left, calling, "I wouldn't let mom hear that if I were you."

Yes, definitely like her mother. Getting up, I walked into the barn yawning softly as twilight came. Seeing Female asleep, I shrugged and lied beside her, pulling her towards me and falling into my subconscious.

A/N: I am so sorry for this super late chapter. Same thing goes for my other fics, which have been put off for way too long. I'm creating a new character but the only information I've come up for her is that she's bat. Anyway, review please.
