Chapter 13: The Problems With Sirius

"So how are Harry and Hermione doing?" Dumbledore asked Severus when he came to visit him.

"Well," he said, "Though I doubt that Harry wants to talk about what happened when he was with the Dursley's."

Dumbledore sighed and said, "I wish I had known that Petunia wasn't taking care of him. Honestly, I didn't think that she would take her hate for our world out on Harry."

Dumbledore saw Severus glaring at him and he knew that it would take time to get the man's trust back. He then took a deep breath and said, "I believe that your family is in grave danger."

"What kind of danger?" Severus asked, taking a drink of his tea.

"Ginny Weasley is planning something, an attack on you," he told him, "She wants to get back at Hermione because she thinks that she lied about being a Muggleborn witch. Lucius has agreed to help her out."

"Stupid little bent," Severus snarled at him. "Who told you this?"

"Narcissa," Dumbledore answered. "I need to put your house under the charm so that we can protect you all."

"The same charm that failed to protect Lily," he said.

"That was only because the Potter's made a mistake," Dumbledore told him, "This time, no mistake will be made."

"Don't allow Black to be able to come," Severus told him.

"But he's Harry's godfather," Dumbledore told him.

"Then I won't allow the charm to be put on," Severus told him.

Dumbledore sighed and said, "Fine."

Severus went back to his tea.

When the charm had been placed on the manor and property Dumbledore headed back to Hogwarts. Upon arriving he found Sirius waiting on him. He sat down and asked, "What do you need?"

"I want to know where Harry's at," Sirius said.

"I can't tell you," Dumbledore told him.

"And why not?" Sirius asked him.

"Because he and Hermione are in grave danger," Dumbledore told him, "Lucius and Ginny want them both dead, and at least Hermione dead."

Sirius crossed his arms and asked, "And why do you care about Snape's heir?"

"Sirius," Dumbledore said, shocked, "Why are you acting like this?"

"Because his daughter is the heiress and the one that will get everything," Sirius told him, "And what will Harry get, nothing."

"Sirius, Severus cares deeply about both his children."

"Like hell he does," Sirius snarled.

"Sirius, I'm not telling you where their at," Dumbledore told him, "Now, leave, before I have you thrown out."

Sirius got up and said, "This isn't over."

Dumbledore said nothing to him as Sirius left.

The rest of the holidays came and went and soon it was time for the students to come back. Everyone was still talking about what had happened and Dumbledore really hoped that nothing else happened. Ginny was no longer at Hogwarts due to what she had planned and he hoped that it would at least stay quiet. He found Severus busy working on something when he walked into his office.

"I got your letter," Severus told him without looking up.

Dumbledore had sent Severus a letter, telling him what Sirius had done when he told him that he wouldn't be seeing him.

"I'm not worried that Sirius will try something," Dumbledore told him.

That got an eyebrow raised from his Potions Master. Dumbledore knew that Severus worried about his children, but he was sure that Sirius would try nothing.

"I don't like being back," Hermione told Harry when the feast was over.

"I know, but we have to complete our education," he said.

"What if some supporter of Ginny's tries and hurt us?" she asked.

"Then it will be the last thing that they do," Harry promised.

Harry and Hermione both noticed that people were cold to them during the first week back. Yes, he was glad to be back but he worried that Hermione might do something stupid. No one dared to try anything but that didn't mean that they weren't planning it. Harry really wished that they were back at Prince Manor where no one could harm them. When their Transfiguration lesson had ended McGonagall called them back.

"Are you both okay?" she asked them.

"Hermione is scared that someone is going to hurt her," Harry told her and Hermione nodded in agreement.

"Not if they don't want to be expelled," she said.

"Their not going to think about that," Hermione told her, "Their going to try something, I know it."

"I think that you need to take Hermione down to your father's office," she suggested, "A Calming Drought for her."

"Thanks, Professor," Hermione said and they left.

When they both arrived outside of Snape's office they knocked on the door. It opened to reveal a very upset Snape. He motioned them inside and closed the door.

"What's wrong?" their father asked.

"Hermione needs a Calming Drought," Harry told him.

"I have one in the stores," he said and he went to get it.

Hermione sat down and Harry joined her. Her hands were shaking like a leaf and Harry tried one of the spells to claim her down long enough for their father to give her the stuff. When he came back he handed a goblet to both of them and they drank it down. Hermione screamed in pain and the last thing that Harry remember was Snape grinning at them.

"I told you that I would be able to get back at you," he said and then Harry knew nothing.

"What is the point in trying to get me to change my clothes," Snape asked Sprout. "You dragged me away before my lessons to talk about something as stupid as clothes."

"Oh come on, Severus, it's good to change your looks," she said.

He rolled his eyes and then Minerva appeared. "Oh there you are, Severus, I sent your children down to get a Calming Draught. They should be waiting on you."

"I'll get it from Madam Pomfrey," Snape told her, "I haven't had a chance to brew another batch. While I'm away could you please tell her that I'm not changing my clothes."

"Could you tell him that it will be good for him," Sprout reasoned.

"I'm not getting him to change anything," she said, "He likes wearing all that black stuff."

"Looks like he's ready for a bloody funeral," Sprout told her and Severus walked away, ignoring them.

He got the Calming Drought from the Matron and then headed back to his office. He was kept by a couple of his students, who was missing some homework that was due that day. He took ten points from Slytherin and gave them detention for two weeks. He then left them a mass of tears. He really loved his job sometimes. When he got near his office, he found that the door was closed. Strange, he had left it open when he left with Sprout.

When he entered the room, he almost dropped the potion. Lying on the ground was his children. He at once fire called Dumbledore and then checked them out. Damn, they had been poisoned. When the Headmaster appeared, along with the Matron, they were taken away. At that moment Severus vowed that he would get back at Lucius and Ginny for this.

Or even Sirius, if that turned out to be him.
