Author's Note: To begin I would like to say hello! As you could most likely tell from my profile as well as the story you are about to read, I dabble in the Pokemon Fandom quite a bit. I was reading some stories on the site and decided to give it a try myself, I hope to update this pretty regularly but most of all I hope I will at least find it enjoyable enough to continue, should that be the case I will most likely be interested in writing more stories maybe some for other Fandoms I consider myself to be a part of. Be as critical as you want because this is my first story with no prior experience so hopefully all goes well.
In regards to the story, it will be sort of a rewrite of the Pokemon Anime beginning around the time of the end of the XY anime and based around the "People betray Ash" trope that seemed to have been popular a while ago (or maybe it still is), however I do hope to avoid some of the cliches that I have seen in some of these stories. Quick note there will be ships that are fairly popular in the community featured in the story, and some that are a little more obscure but I personally prefer over others, also in case someone did not read the summary, I intend to rate this a little higher than maybe what it should be to give me some more liberty to develop these characters how I see fit. Finally and most importantly is the disclaimer, I do not own Pokemon or any of the characters in this story, there are no OCs or anything so there. Hoping that wasn't too long (again it's my first time, cut me some slack George), hope you (and I) enjoy how this one will turn out!
Chapter 1:
On a hill beyond a house stands a middle aged man, staring into the sun as it peeks over the horizon. On his shoulder, a small yellow mouse also stares deep into the scenery unfolding before them. As the sun completes its ascent into the morning sky, the man turns around revealing his identity, it is none other than world renowned Pokemon Professor Samuel Oak. "That was quite the scene, wasn't it Pikachu?" he comments to the rodent still situated upon his shoulder. As Pikachu dismounts from his shoulder, he gives the professor a smile while repeating his name "Pikachu" back to him, in reality saying (Sure was! I'm glad I woke up in time, although I still feel rather tired from the trip.) As the professor turns back towards his laboratory, he tells Pikachu "Well I must be heading back to the lab now, I have to make arrangements to get a special package to a relative of mine in another region." He then departs towards said lab as Pikachu waves goodbye and wonders to himself, (What could that package of his be?), the thought is quickly brushed off by Pikachu as he is eager to see if any of his friends/teammates are awake in the large ranch behind Professor Oak's Lab, as he wasn't able to greet any of them coming back from his trip from the Kalos Region. The Journey through Kalos itself had been great, Pikachu had gained a lot of new friends from the journey and he was eager for his new friends to meet all of the old ones here in Kanto. The trip however, had ended quite disappointingly and ended in another loss in a Regional League, this time one battle away from winning, however Pikachu was confident that the next region they traveled to he and his Trainer Ash Ketchum would surely win. Pikachu thought about how much potential Ash had as a trainer having traveled through so many regions and having caught so many Pokemon and made many friends along the way. (The secret must be in how much he sleeps) Pikachu jokingly thought as he realized his trainer and therefore his Kalos teammates would not awaken for another few hours. He decided to then look around the place to see if any of his old friends found themselves awake at this time and catch up with them. The first of his old teammates he ran into would be the first of many chronic sleepers, that being Snorlax. Pikachu knew trying to wake him would be hopeless as he knew Snorlax slept as much as he ate (which is a lot), so he moved on and soon found one of his more recent and younger friends, Scraggy, repeatedly bumping his head into a tree. As Pikachu approached Scraggy he got his attention by greeting him "Hey Scraggy, what're you doing up this early?", the Shedding Pokemon momentarily paused his head bashing and said "Hey pikachu, I'm just getting some breakfast" before resuming his head bashing. "But don't you already get fed breakfast later?" Pikachu asked confused, Scraggy responded to this by telling the Mouse Pokemon "That's the problem, I get breakfast later, I want breakfast NOW!" finally ramming the tree hard enough that a single berry fell from one of it's branches, which was promptly scooped up by Scraggy and eaten in a single bite. "Ok well do you know if anyone else is awake?" Pikachu asked. Before Scraggy could respond an irritated voice said from the tree "NOW THERE IS", both Pokemon looked up to see the face of an angry Swellow looking down at the pair. "Good Morning!" Pikachu said cheerfully, unaware of Swellow's displeasure at being awoken. "Hey Pikachu, could you maybe do me a favor and tell this dweeb to quit banging his head on my tree? He does it every morning and I'm considering pecking at his skull for the message to get through to this kid." the bird responded. Scraggy was quick to respond saying "For your information I am not a dweeb, I am 1 year old." Scraggy said in a huff. "Come on Scraggy," Pikachu said, pulling on the Pokemon's arm. "Let's go see if anyone else is awake." The two then left the forest, Pikachu looking to buy some time until his trainer awoke.
