Chapter 14 - We fight A Defective Giant

Annabeth and I ran back into the junkyard. Talos turned and followed us.

"What did you take?" Annabeth yelled at me as the ground shook. I fingered the ring in my pocket, I felt drawn to it.

"It does not matter now!" I looked back and turned sharply to the right to avoid a metal shoe. "He will not stop even if I drop it." Behind us the power lines fell down as the giant tried to swat us with his sword. Thalia was behind the giant with Aegis raised, Zoë was firing arrows harmlessly and Grover had found his way to the top of a mound of metal and was throwing tin cans.

I looked around for a place to hide in and make a plan as we ran away from the metal machine. I slid under a car that was lifted off the ground slightly and pressed my back into the shadows, Annabeth soon joined me. The shaking grew closer.

"What do we do?" I asked Annabeth as a foot smashed down beside us.

"I'm thinking." Annabeth said urgently. The foot beside us lifted and I saw a small hole set into the base of the foot, an inscription read, MAINTENANCE ONLY.

"I know what I have to do." An idea quickly ran through my head as I formed my swords on my back in the shape of an 'X' and before I had time to think otherwise, I had rolled out from under the car and was in plain view of Talos. His head cocked to the side and he lifted his sword. There was a yell from above and something black dived out of the clouds. On the back of the Pegasus that was falling toward the head of Talos was a teenage boy wearing an orange Camp Half-Blood top. He wielded a celestial bronze sword that glinted as the sun caught it. The black Pegasus shot by the giants' head and the boy struck, making a gash down the side of Talos' face.

"Percy!" Annabeth yelled. I ignored her and yelled to Zoë and Thalia.

"Get him to raise his foot!"

"What are you doing?" Thalia shouted back.

"Just distract it." I waited nervously as Talos looked down at me, ignoring the cut in his face. Power lines suddenly attacked him. Grover was playing on his pipes. Percy had climbed off Blackjack and the Pegasus had retreated. I charged at the giant's left foot, trying to find a steady footing among the shifting tonnes of metal. Percy ran towards the giant's foot with riptide raised and attacked his big toe. I saw my chance as the foot raised to crush him, the son of Poseidon turned and ran as I grabbed hold of the edge and lifted myself in as the foot smashed down again. I couldn't see Percy when the foot lifted again so I assumed he wasn't crushed. Thalia was frozen and looking up at me through the hole. I reached for the joints I could find and started climbing up the inside of the giant. There were plenty of handholds to grab onto. I was at his neck when a small electric current travelled through the giant. There was yelling outside as Talos continued his rampage.

In Talos' head there were switches, I randomly pressed them and Talos stopped moving. I pressed some more and saw a metal fist flying at his head, I ducked down and covered my head as the small room shook.

In the junkyard in front of me I saw a bright light. My friend Fos was standing on a mound of metal watching, I could see the smile on his face as he watched. His eyes were glowing harshly, like the sun. I let my guard down; he was completely solid. That was my undoing. Talos staggered and I clutched the control panel as thousands of volts of electricity shot through it and into me. I stiffened; too much energy suddenly going into you is very bad, especially if it is electricity. My body felt numb as the current continued. I could see the blue current as it jumped across the room. My vision started fading at the overload of energy and my muscles started twitching. I fell back and cracked my head, everything went black.

"Get him to raise his foot!" Seth yelled at me.

"What are you doing?" I shouted back.

"Just distract it." I barely heard his answer, his eyes showed slight fear but also determination. The same look that was in his eyes what we escaped the boar. I shook my head, Not now Thalia. Seth stood in plain view of Talos. Grover played his reed pipes; power lines sprung to life and attacked the giant. Using the distraction, Seth ran at Talos' left foot and almost fell over as he tried to get a foothold. Percy cut at his toe and a metal foot rose to crush him, Seth swung himself inside as Percy ran away. I looked up through the hole and saw Seth staring back at me. Percy flew into a refrigerator when the foot smashed down behind him. I ran forward with new determination, Seth had protected that quest from many monsters. It was time I did the same. Oh gods of Olympus, 'One whose duty is to protect lost in the land without rain.' The prophecy line struck me in the face. Talos raised his sword to finish Percy off but I charged him and stabbed his heel, oil started flowing slowly from the small gash. Whilst Talos turned to me Percy took his head out of the refrigerator. I backpedalled as Talos started towards me, Aegis raised at the metal giant. Talos stood above me; I knew I wouldn't be able to move in time if he swung his sword.
I heard a melody. A power line pole whacked Talos' thigh. Talos turned to Grover who started to run then fell as he stepped on a sliding piece of scrap metal.

"Grover!" Annabeth, Percy and I yelled. We ran towards the giant as he swung, the deadly piece of metal in his hand whistling through the air. Talos froze. He made a fist and punched himself in the face.

"Go, Seth!" Annabeth yelled.

"He is inside?" Zoë looked shocked.

"How will he get out?" I asked worriedly. The giant staggered towards the power lines, I was half expecting him to stop before he touched them. It didn't happen like that. Talos' foot caught around the power line and blue arcs of electricity shot up his leg and around his body. Talos started to run as he fell apart, pieces of him kept getting in our way.

"Stop!" Annabeth yelled. We ran after the giant, avoiding metal fingers and scrap metal on the ground. He eventually crumbled from the top down to the bottom; his head fell with a clang, then his chest, arms and legs.

When we reached the wreckage we crawled around, trying to find any sign of Seth. We were searching for hours and as the sun started to set I caught a glint in the corner of my eye.

"I've found something!" I yelled running towards the piece I saw was the head. The others followed me, Percy trailing behind them. I dived inside the head of Talos and into a room with switches and wires, they were sparking. On the floor buried under a piece of Talos' face were two swords sheathes. "He's gone." I murmured picking them up. I attached them to my back, the unfamiliar weight across my shoulders. "Let's go. We won't find him now." I crawled out of the head and surveyed the junkyard. "We need to get far away from here. Far away."

And here is the next chapter

Here are the poll results.

Aigeus - 3

Once I have finished writing Titan's Curse I will say which name my Titan OC will be having. So keep voting. If it is a draw he will be called Aigeus Theron (Shield Hunter)

Question - Who is Fos?

You should know by now if you look at the details and description of him.
