A/N: So this may confuse some of you, I realised last night that I had forgotten this whole chapter. Somehow. Not sure. Anyway, keep enjoying and hopefully reviewing!
Loki POV
Both a wince and a scowl covered my features as I pulled myself out of the small crater the beast had left me in. Such a humiliation was of no moment now, as I had heard the reverberating boom, the keening of the chitauri and the encompassing silence beyond that cacophony. I knew what it meant – that the human doctor had failed me. Repaying the monster would have to wait.
Rising to my feet and dusting off my armour I began to make my way to the rooftop of the ostentatious tower, delighting in the anticipation of tossing the mortal off the rooftop. Stepping into the elevator, I could already see the panicked expression in his eyes as I held him aloft, his weight no more than a child's toy to my strength. I could see my Felicity holding him at gunpoint, a traitor to my cause while she waited for me. His begging and pleading as I held him over the fall was music to my ears as I emerged from the metal doors. The sight that I dearly imagined, however, did not greet me. The mortal doctor was laying on the ground near the precipice – an ideal position for my uses, but he was of no moment. The woman agent was standing over Felicity, a gun in her hand and bright blood seeping from the body of the agent I so opportunely used.
Cold seeped through me, stemming from an empty pit that spawned in the base of my stomach. The agent – Romanov – turned at my arrival, raising her gun towards me. I watched her coldly, her movements seeming as if underwater they were so slowed. I raised a hand and blasted her off the platform, channelling the ice overcoming me. Felicity – my Felicity – lying upon the ground, her mortal life spilling around her. Sparing a scathing look towards the mortal, I strode to her body, effortlessly scooping her into my arms. With the chitauri vanquished by Earth's quaint little super-team, the Avengers, I needed an ally by my side. This one had already sworn allegiance, and her knowledge of human ways would prove immensely valuable. I did not have the time to train another human, as well as enslave their race.
Footsteps echoed behind me, coming out of the elevator I recently emerged from, and a cool smile spread across my face as the team arrived, including agent Romanov, guns pointed towards me. There were several injuries, and they all looked tired and worn, I happily noted. Human endurance is pitiful.
"Plan's over, Reindeer Games." The Iron Man said. Emotion flickered across his face at the limp body in my arms, though he did not comment.
I snorted at his display. "She would not be here if you had not pushed her away, and taken her whole life away. I thank you for that, she is a marvellous planner, and exceptional in the bedroom." I smirked at the horror and revulsion displayed amongst their faces. I turned to agent Romanov then, eyes hardening. "I will repay the favour." Using a little power I pushed at the edge of her mind, threatening, before turning and stepping off the edge of the tower holding Felicity close. From above me, I heard the others shout alarm, but I twisted in the air and teleported, before they could catch me.
I would have Earth beneath my control.
I shouldered my way into the small human residence I had brought us to. It was a rustic sort of building, far away from the humans who wished us harm. Thankfully, it was empty; I would deal with the mortals who would invariably disturb us later. I lay Felicity on the couch, stripping her shirt away to reveal the small wound in her chest. Frowning, I made my way to the kitchenette, switching on the kettle that I found there. Tipping a small amount of salt into a bowl, which I mixed with the boiling water, I brought the bowl back to the couch where the gravely injured woman lay, before returning to the kitchen and grabbing a cup. Tipping the contents of a small vial into the cup, I stirred the hot water into it also. I looked down at the pale skin of Felicity, at the dark blood still weeping from the wound. The bullet was still in there. This was not going to be pleasant. Gritting my teeth, I summoned the last of my remaining power, pulsing green beneath the skin of my hands.
I doubted the mortal would thank me for this.
