Claw and Knife
Chapter 5: Blood
Eric's POV
The ferns seemed to move in front of Eric as he ran, it was almost like they where trying to block his path. From the left he heard a low hissing sound, which only made him run faster. Roots on the ground seemed to reach up and try to trip him, But Eric kept his eyes peeled on everything around him, Which was quite a task. Then a raptor leaped from the bushes right in front of him. To it's surprise Eric started running faster and Grabbed his spear that he fashioned out of a bamboo stick, Pointing the tip at the raptor and impaled it full force. The raptor staggered and collapsed on the dirt and Eric ripped his spear out of the thing. More hisses came from behind and he started running again. But with each step he took he seemed to become more and more sluggish.
"Just leave me alone!" He shouted behind him as he leaped over a log and continued his desperate marathon to get away. A vine swung down in front of Eric and without a second thought he grabbed it, only finding himself over a canyon moments later. He could still here the angry hisses behind his as we swung out over the canyon, his spear shoot loose in Eric's pack and fell into the depths. Keeping his mind focused Eric used his body momentum to swing over and grab another vine then flung himself over the last of the canyon, landing with a thud on the other side.
Eric lay back and breathed heavily, staring up at the blue cloudless sky. He could still here his pursuers on the other side of the canyon, and they sounded furious.
"That was the craziest thing i've ever done." Eric said, Slowly pushing himself up off the ground. "Aww, i lost my spear!" Just realizing his only real weapon had fallen into the canyon. Since he lost his colt he was having a hard time finding his way around. he pulled his hunting knife out of his bag and began walking away from the canyon, Not wanting to see the raptors anymore.
"Now than, i need to find a place to stay for the night" He began speaking under his breath, Finding it helpful to take his mind of of john. "Trees, trees would be good. Defiantly not a caveā¦.so i guess tree it is!" He put his knife back in his bag and began climbing the nearest tree, though it wasn't a easy task. After a few minutes of finding a comfortable positions then setting up a sleeping bag and a way not to fall down Eric was sleeping peacefully.
