Drakon-Slayer - chapter 34
The Drakon was decimating the demigods so much that Theron was tempted to call it off, but he knew his father would not be pleased if he did that. He watched from above as the demigods fought the Drakon, hovered as Silena led the Ares cabin to the rescue, saw as she died and Clarisse killed the Drakon. Theron then watched as she charged into the army on a chariot and destroyed his monsters. The demigods, centaurs and Hunters rallied and forced the monsters back to Thirty-Fifth Street. But what was it that made him furious? It was when Clarisse started dragging the Drakon skeleton behind her - she hooked it to the chariot and rode straight at the enemy. Clarisse glowed with the blessing of Ares and she seemed invincible.
"I am Clarisse, Drakon-slayer!" She roared. "I will kill you all! Where is Kronos, bring him out! Is he a coward? Show yourself, Kronos!"
The Griffin dived and Percy saw the sudden movement and yelled, "Clarisse! Stop it, withdraw!"
"What's the matter, Titan Lord?" She yelled, "Bring it on!"
The enemy fell back behind a dracaenae shield wall as Theron landed in the midst of the monsters and forced a shockwave through the earth. Percy ran to Clarisse as there was movement in the army's lines.
"Clarisse!" He yelled, "Get back now!"
Clarisse either didn't hear or ignored him because she continued. "Come on, Kronos! Face me!"
The dracaenae shield wall opened up and someone walked out. Percy grinned as he saw the golden ichor covering his armour, the scratch on his chest plate and the Riptide sized hole in the shoulder. Clarisse rode over to face the person.
"Clarisse, daughter of Ares." The man acknowledged. "Jackson."
"Who are you?" Clarisse asked pointing the sword she had picked up from one of her fallen cabin mates at him. "You're not Kronos."
The person pulled off his helmet and tucked it under his arm revealing black, almost curly hair. "You are correct, though people often say I look like him. I am Theron."
"Well, Theron. Why doesn't Kronos face me, is he a coward?"
"Kronos is resting and you should too, go back to the Empire State Building, child."
"No," Clarisse said," Fight me, or are you a coward like Kronos?"
"Clarisse," Percy warned. "Careful."
Theron's eyes flared bright gold as he glared at Clarisse and Percy could tell he was having difficulty with not blasting her, he himself often had difficulty not running her through with his sword. "You do not want to fight me, child. First you decimate my army, and then you insult me and my father. That is strike two. Strike three will cost you your life. That is a promise, child of Ares." Theron said and started walking back towards the retreating army of monsters. He turned into a huge black wolf with spikes down its back and tail as he disappeared amongst the dracaenae. Clarisse continued dragging the drakon around Fifth Avenue and Percy helped get the wounded demigods inside, happy that he'd averted a potential disaster.
Back at the Union Nations Kronos was raging. "Foolish demigods, how did they kill the Drakon? We were told by our spy they had no Ares children, it should have been impossible."
"Father, Silena showed up bringing the Ares Campers." Theron said, he was lounging against a throne and looked incredibly tired.
"I will kill her when I find her." Kronos growled.
"That won't help, she's already dead. The Drakon killed her."
"That attack achieved some use to us, then."
"Well, they killed my grandson." Theron said with a raised eyebrow.
"Except for that," Kronos smiled slightly. "Have The Fates given a prophecy yet?" Theron hesitated and avoided his father's eye. "Son!"
"Yes, they have father."
Kronos' eyes gleamed. "What was it?"
"He will rise, with crooked one of blue eyes,
And recover a life hidden in lies.
But despair for a will taken away,
To hope for the courage to have a say.
A single choice shall end the heroes' days,
Not just Olympus to preserve or raze.
The lost son of the Titans' number one,
Shall help fate by betraying The Sky's son."
Theron winced as he finished, the last line worried him. Kronos was glaring at him, "The Sky's son?"
"You know I would never betray you – again – father. There is that Jason kid in California – the son of Jupiter. And, this prophecy might not even be for this conflict. The Fates have tricked us like that before." Theron explained and truthfully, he didn't know what the prophecy meant. He only knew The Fates had decided to give it to him whilst he was still posing as Seth instead of when he knew who he was.
"If we lose this war," Kronos started, "We can always try again in another millennia or two. We have eternity to try to take down the gods, but saying that, if you betray me like last time you are going to be grounded for over half a millennia, Theron. Last time you did it was the first time I got sent to Tartarus."
Theron looked at his father sheepishly. "It wasn't my fault," He raised his hands in surrender. "The Fates made me do it."
"You sound like a whining mortal," Kronos stated. "Shut up, son."
"Sorry, father."
"Are you being told off like a child again, cousin?" Prometheus said approaching the two other Titans. Theron barely glanced at his cousin as he flicked his wrist and Prometheus was sent flying off the top of the Plaza.
"Shut up," he muttered too late and Kronos started laughing and his son smiled as he looked over the edge to check on Prometheus. "Sorry!" He called down. "Now, father, what now?" Theron asked as he looked over at the Empire State Building.
"They barely survived the last attack. Olympus' defences are routed, and unsuspecting of an attack." Kronos mused.
"Father-" Theron started only to be interrupted by Kronos.
"We attack. Our final effort," Kronos looked out over to Olympus which was a dark shadow in the sky. "This battle will be for keeps, we won't retreat. Olympus to preserve or raze."
So how many of you can work out the prophecy before the end of this story? This is a question for this chapter: What does the prophecy mean?
Seth's (or should i just call him Theron)relationship poll:
Styx wins!
I am writing the last chapter now, chapter 40.
Should i go straight into HOO or do a story (prequel) about Theron being born up to the end of the Titanomachy? I need to know by the end of this story so i can start writing immediately.
I have started my Percy Jackson Teen Wolf xover so if you could just take a look at it if you are interested in that.
