Main Characters:Draco Malfoy/OC Samantha Black
Pairings: Draco/Samantha, Harry/Katherine, Hermione/Ron, eventually Blaise/Ginny
Disclaimer: I own nothing but my OC's
So Draco and Samantha spent the weekend shopping. They bought furniture, rugs, drapes, appliances, knick knacks and doo-dads (because according to Sam that's what made a house a home), they chose paints, art, floral arrangements, designed Teddy's room, and got their Christmas shopping done.
"You realize this spring you're going to have to put in a Quidditch pitch." Samantha said after the last of Teddy's stuff had floated into his closet.
"Yes I am and it is going to be far more impressive than anything Potter can have at his house. Much like Teddy's Christmas present, which again, way better than what Potter is getting him…Do you know what Potter is getting him?"
Sam rolled her eyes, "Something marvelous and huge and totally awesome I'm sure. Are you really going to buy your way into being Teddy's favorite just to piss off Harry?"
Draco scoffed, "I cannot believe you would accuse me of using a young impressionable child for my own selfish gains. I know how important Teddy is to you and I want to establish a strong bond between us to make our life fuller and happier." He pulled her into his arms and kissed her head, "Pissing off Potter is simply a bonus." He added as an after thought walking out of the room.
"You're impossible." She rolled her eyes again. As he swung around to pin her to the wall.
"Yes, but so is our relationship and look at where we are. Like it or not your stuck with me Samantha Black."
"Now Mr. Malfoy, I don't see a ring on my finger." Sam joked, "As far as I'm concerned you can always have the floor." Smiled sweetly at him and patted his chest pushing herself off the wall and making her way down the hall.
Draco held back for a moment. His mind drifting to the ring that was currently burning a hole in his pocket. Then Sam called for him from down the hall.
"Earth to Drake. I am sexy and witty and charming, I demand attention."
He shook his head, "My apologies. What do you want so I can buy it for you as a way to show my love and affection, and to receive yours in return?"
"I'm hungry. Starving. Do you think Libby will make me that bread pudding, I really want bread pudding."
"I don't know. Since you have liberated her she may not be willing to do anything anymore." Draco's sarcastic response was met by Sam sticking her tongue out at him.
As she went off skipping down the stairs, he caught her saying something that sounded an awful lot like "I hope you enjoy the floor."
Samantha returned to rehearsals on Monday with a renewed sense of purpose. Draco and her were settled into their new house. Her last payment on her flat was handled. She had a production schedule for her next album and her show was opening in two weeks. All was well and good in the world.
"You are very chipper, this morning. Has all been sorted on paradise island?" Jason questioned, eyeing Sam over his water bottle.
"Not that it's any of your business, but life is good. I'm very happy." Sam replied with a smile.
"It is my business, as you ex-boyfriend, current co-star, and future friend your happiness means a lot to me."
"Future friend? A bit presumptuous don't you think?" she jested rolling her eyes.
"Yes, future because friendship is important to you and I'm not on that level yet. One day though, I will be."
He got up heading to his place for the next scene. Sam stared after him, shocked. "When did you become such a deep thinker?" she questioned.
"Mostly when I stopped picturing you naked." He said nonchalantly, but gave her a wink when she took her place in front of him.
"So you don't want to see me naked anymore?"
"You know, been there, done that. Let's be honest though, if things don't work out with tall, blond and wealthy. I'd be willing to make an exception. For you."
"The sacrifices you make."
Places everyone...cue the music.
Jason gave her a smile and wink right as the music began, "What are friends for"
Across town in what appeared to be an old warehouse near Brick Lane Market, Draco and Blaise were in a meeting with one of Draco's private investigators. During the preliminary Ministry hearings it was determined that the Department for International Magical Cooperation would place a ban on importing and exporting Malfoy merchandise pending an investigation. The ruling was made based on the argument that they could not risk an international incident if Malfoy was in fact selling defected products.
To say Draco was furious was the understatement of the century. This would almost certainly put the kibosh on any progress made with Ellerby and would hurt the company even more with the ban happening over the holiday.
However, as Blaise pointed out, they were doing everything they could on that front and him losing it in front of the review committee would not do them any favors. So instead, Draco decided to hire his own investigator to look into the case, it wouldn't hurt to know what the ministry would find.
Miles Bletchley was previously employed by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement before moving into the private sector. Draco had played Quidditch with him at Hogwarts and felt that he could be fully trusted.
"Listen, I want to know what happened because according to my people those cauldrons were completely cleared before they left our facility. Find out who tampered with them and I need it done quietly and quickly. In the mean time I need to figure out how to hold the ministry at bay."
"Malfoy, I'll look into it of course, and you know I'll figure out what happened. You just may not like what I find, it is very well a possibility that someone got lazy on your production team, accidents happen and things get overlooked." Bletchley warned as he signed the contract drafted by Blaise.
Draco sighed, he knew that it was a possibility, he knew it was more than likely that there was a mistake made in the factor rather than someone tampering with them after the fact. However, the fear of something like this happening had haunted Draco for the first years of growing his business. Trust did not come easily and he spent many sleepless nights concerned with the work done by everyone else, realizing he could not handle the stress anymore he made a change. Took the time to really meet and train with his management, formed a relationship with them and gave them stake in the company. All for the purpose of building trust. It was hard now to believe that all of his efforts had been for naught.
"I understand that, I want you to explore all avenues. Anything that you can find would be helpful in working with the IMR. I don't know what else I can do on that front."
"You know, I ran into Parkinson a few weeks back at Verdant. We were catching up and she mentioned her uncle worked for IMR, I don't know if it was in cases or what power he would have, but it might be worth an owl to see." He shrugged taking the change purse that Blaise had left out after the contract was signed, and stuffed it in his jacket pocket.
"I'll have a status report by the end of the week, I'll pass it along thru Zabini. Happy Christmas gents."
"Happy Christmas." Zabini muttered as Miles turned leaving his office.
"What are you thinking Draco?" the lawyer questioned turning to file the contract away before moving to sit behind his desk.
"As much as I will probably regret this, I'm thinking we should look into exactly what Pansy's uncle does and see if we can call in a favor."
Blaise shook his head letting out a low whistle, "Better you than me my friend, I will take a look."
Pansy Parkinson sat at the café across from the small theater in Piccadilly. Sipping her tea as she watched the couple coming out of the theater get ambushed by a photographer. She may have heard good news from her contacts in Egypt but she was not about to sit on her hands while she waited for actual results. In the mean time, it wouldn't hurt to set the seeds to keep her Drakey away from Samantha Black.
She sat back and took another long sip of tea as a large man got between Black and the photographer. Yup, it wouldn't hurt at all to add a little fire to the flames.
Author's Note: It has been forever since I have posted, I honestly had no idea when or if I would ever return to this story. Tonight however, I got hit with a writing spell and here is the result. I apologize it is a little dry but this is the chapter that fills in the blanks of the story and moves it in the right direction. I have the end written, my trouble is getting there. Thanks so much to everyone who has followed this story. I hope to not disappoint and wish to leaving you feeling that the long wait for chapters is worth it.
