Chapter 33
Lucina vs Aizen
Robin laid on the cold damp floor as crying filled his ears; Morgan and Lucina looked over him with tears in their eyes. It was a stupid mistake, he let himself get careless around his opponent and this was his reward, he glanced down at his wounds, his body was slashed to bits as blood stained his robe. He tried to move but his body wouldn't listen to him, he tried to speak but found himself unable as his eyes became heavy. His eyes closed for a brief second before he heard shouting and felt a small pair of hand tugging on him. Morgan was behind him pulling him to safety but what caught his eye was Lucina who was preparing to fight the man in white. He tried to say something, if she fought this man alone then she wouldn't survive but once again he found himself helpless, it was like he was trapped in his own body, he tried desperately to do something, anything but his body wouldn't listen and he soon found himself slowly drifting unconscious with his eyes focused on Lucina as they slowly closed. Meanwhile Lucas regained consciousness and quickly grabbed his sword, he found himself inside a building, he remembered being knocked off his horse and through a wall but not much after that, what happened to the attacker he wondered as he pulled himself out of the rubble. As he approached the large gaping hole in the wall which had been left by his body he was left in shock by a surprising sight before him. Before him was Frederick badly beaten but alive; he calmly stepped of his horse and approached Lucas before collapsing out of exhaustion. Lucas quickly grabbed him as he tried to regain his composure, now that he was closer Lucas could see how badly he was injured, his arm was torn to shreds, his amour was dented, charred and even broken and blood covered his face while the left eye was swollen and bloodshot.
"Jesus Fred, what the hell happened?" questioned Lucas.
"That vile ruffian shall not be troubling us anymore" said Frederick.
Lucas glanced outside to see the slowly decomposing dead body of Alexei who was riddled with wounds and had Frederick's spear lodged in his chest.
"That guy again, he sure gave you a hard time didn't he" said Lucas.
"Aye, he was a skilled warrior but in the end I emerged the winner" said Frederick.
"Can you stand?" asked Lucas.
"Yes, I'm fine, just need a moment to catch my breath" said Frederick.
"That's good; wait, where's Gregor?" asked Lucas.
"Over here!" shouted Gregor.
They turned the heads slightly to see Gregor trapped within a swam of Risen, barely holding off the horde by himself.
"Holy hell!" shouted Lucas.
"Gregor could use help please good comrades" said Gregor.
Without hesitating Lucas tightly gripped his sword and charged into the horde of Risen, Frederick retrieved he spear from Alexei's body and despite his exhaustion also quickly joined in the fight. Side by side the three of the fought the horde of Risen, Lucas dodged and arrow aimed at his head by one Risen before countering by cutting the Risen's head off. The three of them blocked each sword and axe the Risen flung in their direction and quickly countered each and every attack from the Risen. Gregor decimated the ranks with Lucas by his side, Lucas blocked each attack while Gregor countered with powerful swings of his sword. Lucas had to hand it to Frederick, he was built like a tank; after having just barely won a fight against a powerful opponent he still had the strength and will to pull himself back onto his horse and mowed through the Risen with alarming speed. The three of them quickly dwindled their numbers and forced the Risen into a tactical retreat. The mindless creatures ran for their lives and although Lucas wished to pursue them Frederick suggested otherwise.
"Leave them, let them run, we need to find any survivors" said Frederick.
"Fair enough and something is bothering me" said Lucas.
"Which is?" questioned Gregor.
"Alexei is member of the group I'm pursing" said Lucas.
"He seemed to want your head on a pike" said Frederick.
"Exactly and if he's here then some of the other guys may be here, we need to find the others, they might be in trouble" said Lucas.
Then from the left they heard a loud yell that sounded like either Lucina or Morgan, then from the right was a huge explosion which shook the earth, the explosion was followed by another and another in quick succession.
"What the bloody hell, what's going on" said Lucas.
"That voice, it sounded like Lady Lucina" said Frederick.
"You're sure?" asked Lucas.
"I'm positive" said Frederick.
"Gregor suggest splitting up, Gregor will check explosion while companions investigate scream" said Gregor.
"Good idea, be careful Gregor, there may be more around" said Lucas.
"Gregor always careful" said Gregor.
He ran off in the direction of the continuous explosions while Lucas and Frederick ran in the direction of the scream in search of Lucina, Robin and Morgan. As they searched they found traces of a battle, Risen corpses lay on the ground and in the midst of this carnage was a familiar and friendly face.
"Robin!" shouted Lucas.
Robin stood in the middle of the road surrounded by Risen bodies; he seemed to be surveying his surroundings as if looking for something before turning to face Lucas and removing his hood.
"Hello Lucas Murphy" said Robin.
"We've been looking all over for you" said Lucas.
"Sir Robin, where are Lady Lucina and Lady Morgan?" asked Frederick.
"I have no idea, we got separated and I've been trying to find them, it is…important that we find them immediately" said Robin.
"We heard a scream, do you have any idea where it came from?" asked Lucas.
"I think it came from that abandoned building down the way" said Robin.
"Then let's get going, we need to find those two before anything else happens" said Lucas.
"Or in our case before anyone else shows up" said Frederick.
"Yes, let's search for them…. Heh" said Robin.
The three of them continued their search for Lucina and Morgan but as they approached the building that Robin had pointed out Lucas felt a chill run up his spine. Now that he thought about it there was something off about this whole situation though Lucas couldn't put his finger on it and whenever he looked at Robin he felt this vile presence, a dark and insidious feeling which he did not feel from Robin before. He chalked it up to his tired mind being paranoid but still something kept gnawing at him, as if something obvious was staring him right in the face but he couldn't see it. As they calmly searched the building Lucas heard the faint sound of someone crying, the three of them quickly followed the crying to it's source, a large open room and in the corner was Morgan, her eyes filled with tears and resting against the wall was Robin. His body was covered in wounds that looked like they had been inflicted by some type of blade and his one beautiful robe was stained red and practically torn to shreds. Morgan seemed to be forcing some kind of drink down Robin's throat while trying to dress his wound but it was clear she was unsure about what she was doing.
"What the hell happened" said Lucas.
"Oh Lucas, Frederick, thank Naga you're here" said Morgan.
"It's alright Lady Morgan, tell us what happened" said Frederick.
"Father was fighting this man named Aizen and he tried to protect us but got hurt doing do" said Morgan.
"Aizen, I've heard that name before somewhere, where is Lucina?" asked Lucas.
"That man was coming after me so Mother told me to take care of father while she fought him, but I don't know what I'm doing , I've never been taught properly how to deal with wounds like these" said Morgan.
"You're doing fine Lady Morgan" said Frederick.
Lucas knelt down in front of Robin and checked for a pulse, it was faint and barely detectible but there it was, Robin still had a pulse and he was still alive.
"He's still alive Morgan" said Lucas.
"What potions did you use?" asked Frederick.
"These ones, Ricken said they would fix any injury" said Morgan.
"Then we have nothing to worry about, trust Ricken but just to be safe we should take him to Libra" said Frederick.
"What about Mother?" asked Morgan.
"You two take Robin to Libra, I'll help out Lucina" said Lucas.
"Are you sure, Robin is pretty strong and an expert tactician, if this Aizen is strong enough to defeat him then who knows what else he is capable of" said Frederick.
"I know but we can't just leave Lucina to fend for herself against him" said Lucas.
"Then let me go, it is my duty to protect my lord and his family by any means" said Frederick.
"No offence Fred but you can barely stand, you need to see Libra just as much as Robin" said Lucas.
"It is my duty to protect Lady Lucina" said Frederick.
"If you go out there you'll only get in her way, you saved my life so allow me to do you a solid for once" said Lucas.
"Fine, but you make sure that bastard doesn't touch a hair on her head" said Frederick.
"You have my word; on an unrelated note does it feel like we forgot something" said Lucas.
"Now that you mention it, yes, I feel as if there is something important that I am missing" said Frederick.
"There seems to be a dark chill in the air that was not there a few seconds ago as well as the feeling that we are missing something obvious" said Morgan.
Robin opened his eyes for a second and in that second fear covered his face he tried to say something but all that came from his mouth was a violent cough.
"He's hurt bad, you need to get him to Libra quickly" said Lucas.
"Thank you" said Morgan.
"Don't worry about it Morgan, we'll get him some help so stop crying and just go back to your fun loving self okay" said Lucas.
"Okay" said Morgan tearfully.
"Hey, crying never helped anybody, the best thing you cane do right now to help Robin is to be strong and get him to Libra, don't worry, everything is going to be fine I promise" said Lucas.
He stood up and turned and then the thing that he had forgotten about hit him like a ton of bricks, he wondered how he could have been so stupid as he stood there in shock and amazement. It was so obvious, the source of this cold dark chill, the unnerving feeling that crept up his spine all came from the one obvious thing wrong with this picture.
"Oh crap, I am…a complete and total idiot" said Lucas.
"What's the proble…..oh" said Morgan.
"What's wrong?" asked Frederick.
Lucas simply pointed at the problem and it didn't take long for the issue to reveal itself to Frederick.
"Oh, what sorcery is this" said Frederick.
"I know, that wall paper is ugly and does not go well with the carpet" said Morgan.
"That's not the problem you dolt, that is" said Lucas.
He pointed straight in front of him, standing before them was another Robin, a second Robin with a demented evil grin slapped across his face.
"I know, you're the one who wanted me to go back to my fun loving self" said Morgan.
"Well it's better than seeing you cry ; so I don't suppose this is some kind of illusion" said Lucas.
"No" said the other Robin
"And I don't suppose that this one is the evil Robin" said Lucas.
"You're a funny man Lucas Murphy" said the other Robin.
"Well I try, so who are you?" asked Lucas.
He tightened his grip on his sword as the other Robin let out an evil chuckle; the real Robin once again returned to the waking world and found the strength to say one word.
"Gr…..Grima" said Robin.
"What?" questioned Frederick.
"Impossible, he was destroyed" said Morgan.
"So, this is the fell dragon, you guys weren't kidding when you said he looks exactly like Robin" said Lucas.
"How is he alive?" questioned Frederick.
"I have a few ideas as to how, so what do you want fell dragon?" asked Lucas.
"Isn't it obvious, just your head on a pike and the destruction of this worthless world" said Grima.
"You two take care of Robin, I'll take care of him" said Lucas.
"You can't fight him alone" said Frederick.
"Damn it Fred, we don't have time to argue, besides who said I was going to fight him alone" said Lucas.
"You mean…very well" said Frederick.
"Be careful Lucas" said Morgan.
Frederick flung Robin on his shoulder and with Morgan they took off in search of Libra while Lucas drew his sword and whistled silently.
"So are you going to jump down from there and help or are you just going to stay perched up there and watch the show" said Lucas.
At first there was no replay but soon a figure jumped down from the roof and joined Lucas by his side.
"Sensed my presence did you, are ya a hunter?" asked the masked female figure.
"Not quite but I could use a hand against this dude and you don't seem to be the type to turn a blind eye to someone in danger" said Lucas.
"This dude as ya so crudely put it is clearly not a blood starved beast or a maddened hunter but still a hunter must hunt, if this man is your mark then he is my mark" said the odd woman.
"If that means you're going to help me then I'm all for this hunting thing of yours; we'll leave the question of what your doing here till after we're done with this guy, I'm Lucas by the way, who the hell are you?" asked Lucas.
The woman pulled out what appeared to be a strange dagger of some kind and a flintlock pistol, she prepared to fight as the feathers on her outfit shook in the wind.
"I am Eileen, a hunter of hunters, prepare yourself for the worst Lucas" said Eileen the crow.
"So, are you my ally or what?" questioned Lucas.
The two prepared to battle the foul being that had stolen Robin's form while outside the building a different fight was commencing. Lucina had sent Morgan away with Robin; they were safe now she had to focus of dealing with the enemy before her. This Aizen was cocky and arrogant but he was not to be trifled with, she would need to be careful and pace herself is she had any chance of beating him. After a few seconds it became clear to her that she would have to make the first move and so, gripping her Falchion tightly with both hands she charged at Aizen. He smirked as he quickly blocked her attack however she used the momentum from her sword clashing with his to leap over him exposing his back to an attack, she took her chance an quickly attacked but was one again swiftly blocked her attack. Lucina unleashed a fury of blows each and every one blocked by Aizen, conventional means were not working, thankfully Robin had prepared her for such an opponent. As Aizen grinned Lucina switched her stance, now she held Falchion with her left hand while keeping her right empty; Aizen knew she was up to something but was unsure as to what it was, the report he had recived about her told him that she never fought with one hand free. Lucina charged and the foul man leading to him one again blocking her attack however he was taking by surprise when she delivered and Elthunder straight to his face, hitting him point blank and sending him flying. Although surprised Aizen regained his footing just in time to block another attack from Lucina, she tried the same trick again but this time Aizen was prepared for it, he dodged the attack and put some distance between the two.
"You can use magic, nothing about that was stated in the reports" said Aizen.
"Robin taught me as well as a few of his tricks, I'm sure you will find there is a lot you're reports didn't tell you" said Lucina.
"Your husband did try something similar but his spells were stronger" said Aizen.
"That's not the only trick I've picked up; you're not the first person from another world that I've had to fight" said Lucina.
Lucina grasped her sword once again with both hands, she held up her Falchion and began to charge the sword with her power, once it had reached it's full potential she thrusted her sword forward charging towards Aizen. Aizen saw this attack coming and easily blocked the attack. Lucina's attack connected with Aizen's sword however it was clear he did not expect it to be anything but a normal attack, the force from the attack was astounding and easily broke Aizen's guard and left him wide open for an attack. With his guard now broken by her attack she quickly closed the distance between them and unleashed a series of fast slashes before finishing with a skyward slash propelling her opponent into the air. Lucina then jumped into the air and unleashed a powerful downward slice with her sword sending her opponent crashing into the floor while she landed unharmed. As the dust cleared from the creator Aizen's body had made she prepared herself in case her opponent had survived that; after a few second of nothing but silence she deduced it was impossible for Aizen, let alone any man to have survived that attack. She turned and was about to sheath Falchion when she heard the faint clang of a katana about to strike. She quickly spun round and blocked an attack that would have easily took her head off; Aizen stood before her unharmed and with the same indifferent look on his face.
"Impossible, no man could have survived that" said Lucina.
"Impressive but if that is all you have" said Aizen.
Lucina pushed Aizen back but he quickly closed the distance on her and unleashed a series of blows that Lucina found difficult to keep up with; it was taking everything she had to keep up with this man, so much so that she was starting to sweat but it looked like Aizen was barely putting any effort behind his attacks. Aizen forced Lucina back as she tried to block his attacks, he was getting faster and fast and she was starting to slow down, she blocked too slow and Aizen managed to slash her arm causing her to nearly lose her grip on Falchion. She quickly grasped her sword tightly once again and blocked another attack before trying to counter, this caused Aizen to back off on his assault and gave her some breathing room. There was one option left for her, she didn't want to use it but it looked like she had no choice. She could only use it for a few seconds but that was all she needed, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small golden ball. She tossed this ball into the air, there was a flash of light and within seconds Lucian had turned from a lord into a great lord but she was not through. She reached into her other pocket and pulled out a small odd looking token; she crushed the odd looking token within her hand, Lucina felt the power rising within in her as she grasped Falchion tightly and prepared to fight. She lunged at Aizen as the power surged within her, he tried to block her attack but was surprised to see his sword buckle under the pressure of the attack. His guard quickly broke leaving him wide open which Lucina quickly took advantage of and followed up with a quick precise strike, the result of which was death. Aizen coughed as he gazed at the large hole in his chest left by Lucina, this time she got him, there was no mistake that she had dealt a fatal blow to Aizen so why was he laughing. She turned to face her opponent and was shocked to not only see him still standing but his wound was healing.
"Not bad but I'm afraid this game has come to an end, shatter Kyoka Suigetsu" said Aizen.
Something was wrong, Lucina saw his sword shatter and now Aizen was standing there helpless, something was wrong and not taking any chances she attacked Aizen but as she stabbed him through the chest she noticed something off. There was no blood, she pulled her sword from his body, her gut told her there was something off and her gut proved right when the Aizen before her shattered like glass before reappearing behind her and slashing her down her back. She winced from the pain as she backed away from Aizen and face her opponent with utter confusion, what form of magic was this. She charged at Aizen with the force of a hurricane but again he stood there unmoving, once again this Aizen vanished and the confused Lucina quickly blocked an attack from her right side, an attack she just barely saw. She was launched back by the force of the attack and felt her ribs shatter as she ploughed through the wall of the house behind her. Hurt, she pulled herself to her knees as her opponent calmly walked towards her with an insidious arrogant grin on his face and cod unfeeling eyes.
"Interesting, you instinctively blocked the attack, tell me are you enjoying this little game?" asked Aizen.
"This is all a game to you you bastard" shouted Lucina.
"Of course it is, an ant like you challenging me, what more can this be then a joke or a game" said Aizen unfeelingly.
"Damn you!" shouted Lucina.
She charged at him but he vanished, she then felt a pain as a cold merciless hand smacked her back onto the empty street. she coughed up blood and valiantly tried to pull herself off the ground, she felt blood leek down her face from a wound on her head, she was feeling dizzy and lightheaded but none the less she faced her enemy. Using her sword as a crutch she pulled herself to her feet, wiped away the blood and prepared to fight.
"Give up, you've done your best but this is the limit of your potential" said Aizen.
"Shut the hell up, I'm not finished yet" said Lucina.
"There is nothing to be ashamed of, unlike most you've actually made me sweat a little, this was a fun work out and helped me regain myself after my imprisonment but now it's time for this game to end" said Aizen.
Lucina prepared herself as her enemy approached but a loud shout rung out into the night and soon a shape landed in-between the two combatants. To her shock Lucas stood before her, he was seemed to have taken a beating and was unaware that he had wandered into their battle.
"Lucas?" questioned Lucina.
"Huh, oh hi Lucina; I'm not interrupting anything am I?" asked Lucas.
"What are you doing here?" asked Lucina.
"Oh you know, just thought I'd take a stroll and run into that thing that's kicking our ass" said Lucas.
Lucina turned to gaze at the thing that Lucas was pointing at to see what looked like Robin fighting a crow woman while a building burned down around them. This crow woman was putting up a decent fight against Robin, quickly and fluidly dodging his attacks and magic while getting in close and delivering precise deadly and rapid attacks with her dagger. But Robins wounds seem to heal endlessly and before long she found herself in trouble. She raised her gun to prepare for an attack but misjudged it and was quickly kicked backwards by Robin. She recovered quickly as she flew through the air and retreated to Lucas' side.
"This foul keratin is more trouble than his appearance details, are ya sure he is no beast?" asked Eileen.
"Well I think the jury's still out on that one" said Lucas.
"Robin, what's going on?" questioned Lucina.
"Don't worry, that's not Robin; he called himself Grima or something" said Lucas.
"What, then where is Robin and Morgan, are they okay?" asked Lucina.
"Don't worry there fine, Fred and Morgan are looking after Robin and taking him to see Libra" said Lucas.
"Oh thank goodness" said Lucina.
"What about you, seem like you've had the crap kicked out of you?" asked Lucas.
"I'll live; but that man, he calls himself Aizen and he possesses a strange power, he's also the one who nearly killed Robin" said Lucina.
Lucas glanced at the man from his sword to the peculiar way he dressed, he recognized it and knew he had seen it before.
"A zanpakuto, are you a soul reaper?" questioned Lucas.
"You know of it, you must be Lucas Murphy; to answer your question yes I was formally a soul reaper, I was in fact a captain" said Aizen.
"And now you're here burning down villages, how the mighty have fallen" said Lucas.
"Our enemies seem to be multiplying, to be around ya seems to be a death sentence" said Eileen.
"Hey you said yes to helping me and it was your own fault for hanging around an old building in the first place, seriously what were you doing in there, your obviously not from this world so how did you get here?" asked Lucas.
"Another time little cub, the beast stirs, I feel it is best for us to prepare for the worst" said Eileen.
"Aizen, I found him, the boy we need to kill" said Grima.
"Very good Grima, I was getting board of this game, so why don't we finish this together" said Aizen.
"Bring it on creep, I'll take you both out" said Lucas.
"Be careful Lucas, he's powerful" said Lucina.
"I still have a few cards up my sleeve; Bahamut, get your ass out here now!" shouted Lucas.
As he said it a black dragon appeared besides, it roared into the heavens and with its partner and friend prepared to fight.
"By the hunters dream, what creature is this?" questioned Eileen.
"Don't worry, he's on our side and he helps to level the playing field so are you girls ready to do this" said Lucas.
"I'm bruised but not beating or broken, I can and will still fight" said Lucina.
"I told ya, a hunter must hunt, this is my duty" said Eileen.
"Good to hear; do you hear that you freaks, we may be bloodied but were not defeated and with the four of us we will wipe the floor with you so bring it!" shouted Lucas.
The group prepared to fight as Aizen let out a small sadistic laugh.
"How childish, shatter Kyo…." began Aizen
But before he could have finished something bizarre happened, something akin to a loud pop or bang echoed throughout the entire town. Windows shattered and a loud ringing could be heard, the Reaper that had unfeelingly dominating the land below now turned its gaze to the sky. There in the sky was a portal, the largest Lucas had ever seen; it nearly covered the sky blocking the stars from view.
"Oh what now!" shouted Lucas.
The portal grew and grew and just continued to stay there for a while, unmoving and unchanging until something slowly peeked out of the portal, bit by bit Lucas began to recognize it, it was the Elle Ciel. He began to jump for joy, help had finally arrived when his joy soon turned to shock and astonishment as hundreds of unrecognised ships began to appear out of the portal, one of them caught Lucas' eye a silver ship named the Normandy. On board the ship a commander was giving out orders to his loyal crew.
"Reaper spotted Shepard" said Joker.
The Reaper soon began to open fire on the ship which it narrowly avoided thanks to the expert piloting of Joker.
"Return fire!" shouted Commander Shepard.
The ship did so and managed to beat the Reaper back, it was fighting the deadly purple space squid and was winning. While this was happening the Elle Ciel had full exited the portal and the inhabitant were on the edge of their seat with anticipation.
"Are you sure he's here miss?" questioned Maria.
"Hinasaki, Miku Hinasaki and yes I'm sure, with the help of your little flying friend me, my daughter and our friends have managed to tack him down to this world" said Miku Hinasaki.
"Good, thank you; we're here Lucas, please be safe" whispered Maria.
Back on the ground Lucas was gazing up at the sky with bewilderment almost confused as to what was going on.
"Jesus guys" said Lucas.
"Are these your friends?" asked Lucina.
"Yeah, I knew they would be looking for me but I didn't expect this; I vanish for a day or two and you lot go get an army just for me, I'm touched" said Lucas.
"A day or two, what are you talking about?" questioned Lucina.
"You know how you only found me a day or two ago" said Lucas.
"Lucas, I apologise but I think we failed to tell you something, when we found you we found you in a sort of bubble, from what we have gathered someone had put you in it to keep you safe and you had been in it for a while" said Lucina.
"What are you talking about?" questioned Lucas.
"You may think that it has been only one or two days and for you that's true but for them they most likely haven't seen you for a month" said Lucina.
"What!" shouted Lucas.
"The bubble we found you in had been there for at least a month and had been built around you, what I'm trying to say is you've been asleep and missing to them for a whole month" said Lucina.
