I don't own Harry Potter or Code Lyoko Evolution
Chaos at Kadic
"Della Robbia… Err… Top of the class," said Ms Hertz in surprise.
"What?" muttered Harry.
"Are you sure?" asked Odd.
"And Nicholas, excellent results too."
"I can't believe it. This has to be a mistake, right?" whispered Aelita to Jeremy.
"You have a sharp tongue. They worked hard, that's all."
"Laura, that was very, very bad." The teacher handed her back her work. "The same goes for you Jeremy and Harry. Catastrophic results. You are now at the bottom of the class."
Harry frowned in confusion.
"Now do you think that something might be wrong?" whispered Aelita.
"Yeah, maybe."
"This doesn't make sense. This must be a mistake," protested Laura as she stared at her results.
"And you don't find this strange?" whispered Ulrich to Odd.
"Come on! These results are perfect!" Odd replied.
"This can't be happening," muttered Sissi as she rested her head on her arms.
"Your attention please." Everyone turned to look at Delmas. "We've been having some serious computer issues this morning. It seems a number of these errors affected your grades on your reports."
"Oh no," moaned Odd. The students started to chatter.
"Stay calm please."
"So please give them back to me and we'll work to fix this situation as soon as possible," finished Delmas.
"Ok, give me your reports," said Ms Hertz as she started to collect them in.
"No way. This is so depressing," muttered Odd.
"Susanne, I have no idea what's going on here today because nothing is working properly. For example, six tons of hay has just been delivered to the canteen."
"What?"
Laura glanced at Jeremy. Harry pressed a couple of buttons on his laptop.
"Yes, I know, it's incomprehensible. It's insanity…."
Later
"What's happening today is rather strange, isn't it?" asked Jeremy.
"Do you think…" started Aelita.
"That's Xana's attacking?" interrupted Laura.
"What else do you think can attack the network like that?" asked Jeremy.
"For you, Xana is behind everything. Can't it be a simple bug for once?" asked Ulrich.
"Yeah and Xana attacking just to give me some good marks?" asked Odd. "I don't think Xana would do that."
"We can't rule out the possibility," said Harry with a sigh. "And Xana might attack in order to give me some bad marks. It's unlikely but possible. But I can't find the tower. But there's one place it could be that I haven't checked…"
He opened his laptop and started to type.
"What do you mean Harry?" asked Sissi.
"I'll tell you in a bit. I just want to check first."
Jeremy's phone beeped and he glanced at it to see the activated tower.
"Like I said. Let's go to the lab."
"For once, Xana was nice to me," said Odd as they started to head towards the lab.
"Or he hasn't got many options," replied Harry.
Lab
"Why can't we see any activated tower on Lyoko?" asked Ulrich.
"I don't know," said Jeremy. "The holoscreen doesn't detect anything."
"So why did your app send you an alert?" asked Aelita.
"I really don't know."
"That's crazy!" exclaimed Odd. "Either your app is buggy or the holomap is malfunctioning!"
"There's one place the map doesn't cover," said Harry thoughtfully. "The cortex."
"I don't see why the cortex has anything to do with this. There's a problem," pointed out Jeremy.
"Maybe there's no problem with either the holoscreen or the app," suggested Harry.
"What do you mean?" asked Sissi. "They obviously disagree."
"Because the activated tower isn't on Lyoko," said Harry with a sigh. "It's on the Cortex. I have no idea how your minds work."
"There aren't any towers on the cortex," pointed out Jeremy. "Well, there's one but Xana hasn't activated it."
"Not that we've seen him activate it. He could do it. Now that he's more powerful, I mean."
"Or there's no attack," suggested Laura.
"But we don't know for sure," retorted Aelita. "We should go check."
"Aelita's right," agreed Jeremy. "We need to check. You'll go check every sector while me and Laura check the system. Understood?"
"I'll check the Cortex," offered Harry. "There are more than enough of us to check Lyoko."
"Harry's right. We should check as many places as possible," agreed Luna.
"Oh, and the weirdo is right?" asked Laura.
"Don't call Luna a weirdo. Luna's nice," said Odd. "And how are we supposed to scan the sectors without the holoscan?"
"You'll see," said Jeremy. "You'll find out."
"We'll find out? I don't like the sound of that," said Odd as they walked to the elevator.
"Stop being such a warrior… I mean worrier Odd," said Luna.
"Ok, I'll call the others," Said Jeremy as the doors closed. "We may need some reinforcements."
He pulled out his mobile. "Yumi? Is William with you?"
Sometime later
Aelita and Harry arrived in Sector Five.
"Are you sure about going there?" asked Aelita.
"It's worth a look. Besides, I have this feeling that since Xana is more powerful, he can attack from there now, even if the attack is weak."
They separated as Harry headed to the garage and Aelita remained where she was.
Desert
Odd landed and looked around.
Mountains
Ulrich observed his surroundings, looking for any signs of an activated tower.
Forest
Luna started to hop away as soon as she could.
Ice
Sissi rubbed her arms as she looked out at the frozen landscape.
"This place is cold."
"Ok, now listen. I'm going to send you some mini scanners," Said Jeremy. "Their range isn't very long but if you move throughout the sectors, we should find out soon."
"That's really some mini stuff," said Odd as he tapped at the small screen.
"It's based upon some of Harry's work."
"There's nothing here," continued Odd.
"I told you Odd, short range. You need to move a bit."
"On foot? Have you ever been over here?" asked Odd in disbelief. "This place is massive! And I have only two mini legs!"
"Alright Odd, you win."
"So much better!" commented Odd as he jumped on and piloted the Overboard away. "Your plan better work Jeremy!"
"It's the only one I've got so far. I'll try to work on another one. Aelita, everything ok?"
Sector Five
"Yes Jeremy. I've got it. But there's nothing here," replied Aelita as she looked at the screen.
"Go and inspect the Labyrinth. If there's an activated tower, it will be there. But be careful. I don't like it when you're alone."
Mountains
"Hey, I'm alone too," pointed out Ulrich. "Aren't you worried about me?"
"Err, well… yes. Anything new?"
"No, nothing. It's really quiet here. Did you find anything?"
Jeremy glanced at Laura. "No, nothing. Keep looking."
Ice
"Is there anything you can do to warm this place up?" asked Sissi as she shivered. "This place is really cold."
"Sissi, it's just a reaction. It isn't really that cold."
"That's easy for you to say."
Forest
"There's nothing out of place here," said Luna as she glanced around.
"Right. Thanks Luna.
Digital sea
"I can't believe how peaceful this place looks," muttered Harry as he stared out at the digital sea. Said sea started to turn red. "Uh oh. Looks like I'm on the right track."
He looked around nervously before a manta appeared before him. "That's new."
Pressing the button on the trigger, Harry immediately destroyed it.
"Jeremy?"
"Yes Harry?"
"Couldn't you have warned me about the monsters?" asked Harry as he stared out at the still red sea. "There are mantas out here."
"Sorry, the scan's still down."
Lab
"So, what's his about an attack?" asked Yumi as the two entered the lab.
"Well, we don't really know," replied Jeremy. "The bug at the school may have nothing to do with Xana."
"Jeremy, something at last," said Odd as he glanced at the screen. "There's something…"
"What is it Odd?" What do you see?" asked Jeremy.
"Well, nothing. I can't see a thing," said Odd as he pointed his launcher in different directions. Rocks fell on him and he yelled.
"Odd?! Are you ok?" asked Jeremy worriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It was just a… rock," said an embarrassed Odd as he lay on the ground.
"You're friend Xana is getting on your nerves, right?" asked a laughing Ulrich.
"Let's carry on," suggested Jeremy. "We still have some work to do."
"Wait Jeremy, I may have something," interrupted Laura. "Of course. The holoscan wasn't malfunctioning. It was just looking in the wrong direction."
"Ok, so Harry was right," said Jeremy with a sigh. "The tower is on the Cortex."
Yum and William exchanged a look.
"Why is Harry always right?" asked Aelita.
"Well, I suppose he does know Xana the best," said Jeremy as he scratched his chin. "That might make it easy for him to predict some of his actions."
"And this is the second time that Xana has attacked from the cortex," added Harry. "Remember the first attack? It was weak just like this one. I thought that Xana wouldn't try again but I did try to keep an eye on it."
"Hey, stop Harry," said Ulrich. "You and Jeremy were right about the attack."
"Well, I'll take you all to the arena and then you'll go to the Skid and follow Harry. He just ran into a little bit of trouble."
"Trouble? You think three mantas are trouble?" asked Harry. "For me?"
"Yumi, William," continued Jeremy. "Head to the scanners. I'll prepare the transfers."
Sector Five
"Ok, no time to lose," said Aelita as Yumi and William stood up. "Let's go."
The group immediately started to run.
"Anyway, if I wasn't here, you'd still be looking," said a pleased Laura.
"Excuse me? What am I, non-existent?" asked an annoyed Harry. "I would have found it."
"And isn't she exaggerating a little?" asked Odd as they stood on the elevator. "Harry has been saying that it's in the Cortex from the start."
"Laura, that's enough with your spirit of competition," said an annoyed Aelita. "What do you think? That Xana is just some sort of computer riddle to solve in your room after school? It's a real danger you know so you'd better calm down. Besides, in case you hadn't noticed, we have some serious work to do right now."
"We do have a tower to deactivate on the Cortex," agreed Jeremy. "That's the priority."
Laura's phone rang and she answered it.
"Hello? Dad? Err, yes, alright. I'm coming." She ended the call. "That was my dad. He's at the school with Delmas."
"Your dad?"
"I gave to go."
Laura left as the Skid took off into the digital sea.
"Laura just went away. Her dad is with Delmas," said Jeremy.
"For some reason, I feel happy," said Harry as he saw the Cortex. "Do you want me to wait?"
"And what does he want?" asked Ulrich.
"No idea. But that seemed to put pressure on her."
"Let's hope that will calm her a bit," said Aelita. Odd laughed.
"I think she sounded a bit worried," said Harry.
Kadic
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Laura opened the door. "Please sit down Laura."
"My dear Laura, I am here because I received your wonderful report card," said Laura's dad.
"I know dad…"
"Let me finish. Mr Delmas told me about these computer issues. Obviously this school doesn't meet my expectations."
"I can assure you that the situation is only temporary Mr Gauthier," said Delmas.
"But you do admit that you are unable to figure out the cause of this disaster. So you will understand if I believe that this school isn't the right one for my daughter."
"But your daughter is very successful here. She's pretty well integrated," pointed out Delmas. "She seems quite happy."
"I'm happy for her. However, she's here to learn, not to have fun. And to become extremely efficient."
"I agree but we are in the process of fixing the problem right now. I do wish that we could find Mr Stern. He's very smart, good at computer programming. He might have been able to fix it."
"He's trying to do that now," said Laura quickly. There was a knock on the door.
"Yes, come in."
"Mr Delmas?" asked Jim.
"Yes?"
"We have just received one thousand pairs of pink flip flops. What should I do with them?"
Delmas groaned and Jim quickly left.
"Mr Delmas, I shall now leave," said Laura's dad. "Laura. I'll give you five minutes to go to your room and pack. Goodbye Mr Delmas."
Cortex
"There was no reason for you to wait for us," said Ulrich as they walked over to Harry.
"It's safer in numbers."
"He has a point," said Jeremy as he looked for the tower.
Kadic
"Laura, will you hurry up please?" asked her dad as he cleaned his glasses. Laura walked out the room. "It's incredible how long it takes you to pack! You act just like your mother."
"Dad, I know you think that this school is a disaster," started Laura. "But it's completely untrue, I swear! On the contrary, I can do many more things than you think. Here, I can really become the best. I have to stay."
There was a pause.
"You don't believe me, do you?"
"No."
"Then follow me."
"Laura…"
"Come on, follow me!"
"Laura! You're definitely like your mother!"
Cortex
"Hey Jeremy, send us the mega thing on wheels please," begged Odd.
"Let's see. I have detected some hostile activity around you. I'm sending it right now."
Harry looked around as did everyone else. The Megapod appeared as the ground started to move.
"It's moving!"
They started to slide and William and Harry caught the rest. Odd caught Ulrich.
"Well, that's a good start."
"Are you ok?" asked a frantic Jeremy. "Is the Megapod still there?"
"It's going to fall into the digital sea," said Odd as they looked at it. "Jeremy, transfer me or it's going to fall!"
"Just a sec."
Odd transferred to the Megapod and drove it to safety as Harry and William pulled everyone up.
"That was a close call," said Odd as he wiped his forehead.
"Two Megatanks are approaching you."
"Great. Transfer the others and we'll take care of them."
The blast doors opened and Laura and her dad walked in.
"Do you see that?" asked Laura. "It's a quantum supercomputer. No more, no less."
"What are you doing Laura? Are you crazy?" asked an angry Jeremy.
"What's going on?" asked Aelita.
"It's Laura. She brought her dad here."
"What?"
"Are you crazy Laura?" asked Harry. "There's a reason we don't tell anyone. What if the computer falls into the wrong hands?"
"Code red Yumi. There's no time to lose, shoot me. I've got to get back to the lab," said Aelita quickly.
"Huh? Shoot you? No way." Yumi shook her head.
"Didn't you hear me? Shoot me!"
Yumi threw one of her fans and it devirtualised Aelita before returning to Yumi.
"What exactly is the purpose of this… interface?" asked Laura's dad. "How long has it been here for?"
"Well… Err… It's complicated," said Jeremy.
"Complicated?" Laura's dad took off his glasses. "My dear Laura, I guess you didn't mention the fact that I was top of the class at polytechnics school and that I had spent three years at the MIT."
"Jeremy, transfer us," called Yumi as the Megatanks drew closer. "Quickly. The Megatanks are getting closer!"
Aelita arrived and glanced at the trio.
"Jeremy, hurry up," called William as he summoned his sword. Everyone else prepared to fight. "It's getting pretty rough over here."
"Or, we could fight," suggested Harry.
"Jeremy! Transfer them!" called Odd. Aelita ran to the terminal and transferred them before turning to Jeremy.
"You take care of the others and I'll handle the father."
"What are you doing here exactly?" asked Laura's dad.
"I was just about to tell you all about it Mr Gauthier," said Aelita. "We are working on a school project using tis interface which is connected to a quantum computer we call the supercomputer. I can even show it to you if you wish."
"Sure, I'd be glad. I'm interested."
"I guess you'd like to see it too?" asked Aelita as she glanced at Laura. As soon as they left, Jeremy returned to the controls.
"Odd, do you hear me?"
"At last. Look, the Megatanks are chasing us and we still don't know where the tower is. Quick," said Odd.
"The location should show up on your radar… now."
Supercomputer
"You see, Mr Gauthier, this supercomputer is powered by a nuclear battery which has an excellent lifespan," explained Aelita as they entered the room before sending a look at Laura. The girl shook her head slightly. "And you wanted to hide this from your dad…"
"It would have been a pity. I find all of this fascinating. I'm amazed. And Laura can use all this technology whenever she wants?"
"Exactly. But I wonder if it was such a good idea after all."
Aelita entered the elevator as the doors shut.
"Why did she say that? All this is pretty interesting!"
Cortex
The Megatanks chased the Megapod. Odd tried to lose them by jumping over a gap but they followed and started to bump into the Megapod.
"Will you leave us alone?" asked Odd.
"William, try shooting at them," suggested Yumi.
"Just do it fast," added Sissi. "I'm getting sick."
"It's like a rollercoaster," commented Luna. William grabbed the trigger and started to fire.
"I can't do it, they're too close!"
"Jeremy, find something," begged Ulrich.
"Stop being such a pussy. We'll get out of this, we always do," said Harry with a smile.
"Give me a minute, I'm calculating the next seismic wave." Aelita entered the lab. "You might be able to take advantage of it. Where are they?"
"Don't worry, case closed. Just focus on the others."
"Jeremy…"
The monsters continued to bang into the Megapod.
"Got it. Next tremor in two minutes."
"We don't have time! We won't be able to hold them off till then," protested Ulrich.
"Ok, forget it," said Aelita. "Odd, at the next block, turn left."
"You sure?"
"Just so it! Now!"
Odd shot around the corner and one Megatank fell off and hit a wall.
"One down! Well done Aelita!"
"And what about the second one?" asked William as it knocked into them. Odd did a u turn and the Megatank hit the wall.
"Yes!" Odd punched the air.
"Odd? Are you there?" asked Jeremy.
"We're fine Jeremy," reassured Odd. "But it was a close call."
"And now we have to go find that tower," added Harry.
"Hurry. The next tremor will arrive soon."
Odd shot away and they quickly arrived at the tower. Jeremy transferred Yumi who ran into the tower.
Code
Lyoko
Kadic
Delmas and Jim stared at the glitching screen when it fixed itself.
"This is a miracle Jim! A miracle!"
Lab
Everybody watched the two on the monitor.
"I can't believe it," said Yumi.
"Why did he come here?" asked Odd.
"Laura brought him here," replied Harry.
"She probably wanted to show off, that's all," said Aelita. "As simple as that."
"Aelita might be right but er still have a problem with the father," said William.
"We could get Harry to erase his memory," said Sissi with a shrug.
"We have no choice I guess," said Jeremy.
"A return to the past?" asked Yumi.
"Yep. But not for Laura of course."
"It drives me crazy that the return to the past has no effect on her," said Odd.
"I know," said Harry. ""I've got a patch but I don't know if would affect us."
"As for Laura, we'll talk about her later. It's another problem," said Aelita.
"Ok, so do we agree?" asked Jeremy. "I launch it?"
Everyone nodded. Jeremy pressed the buttons.
"Return to the past now."
The energy built up before expanding outwards.
Earlier
"Della Robbia. Bottom of the class." Ms Hertz gave him his results.
"Are you sure?" asked a despondent Odd.
"Jeremy Belpois, you're second. That's good." Aelita sent him a smile. "Laura, third. That's good too. Harry, top. That's good as well."
Later
"For me, she definitely went too far," said Aelita. "She should be kicked out."
"Well Aelita, it's not that simple," said William. "We can't kick her out just because her father put pressure on her. Besides, she already knows too much about us and Lyoko."
"He's right," agreed Jeremy. "Laura might bring us many more troubles if we rejected her."
"What's going on William?" asked Ulrich. "You suddenly seem so wise."
"He's matured," said Harry as he glanced at William. "He's no longer the cocky boy when he came here."
"So what are we to do?" asked Sissi. "We can't reject her and we can't keep her with us."
"We better keep her under strict surveillance," said Jeremy.
"I don't know," said Aelita. Jeremy opened the door.
"You may come in." everyone stared at Laura as she entered. "So, listen. We thought it over and decided to keep in the group. But you'll only have limited access to the supercomputer. One of us will accompany you every time. I hope you'll understand after all that has happened."
"Yes, I do but…" Laura glanced at Aelita. "Alright, fine."
Jim pushed the door open. "Ah, Della Robbia. I was sure to find you here. You need to go see the principal. Pronto."
"Really? Why?" asked Odd.
"Your parents are here. Looks like they got your report."
"Oh no…" moaned Odd as everyone started to laugh.
