Hey guys! How are you doing? I'm so excited to watch next episode of OUAT! I can't wait to see Regina and Ariel... wait! I can't spoil you!
About this chapter... I'm really really not sure about it, but what can I do? So, I do hope this chapter can get your atention and you don't get so bored with it.
To CCangel; Thank you. Yep! Indeed I think she showed that she is changing and not killing them was proof enough! Yeeeees, I can't wait to see Archie and Regina in episode 9... I bet it is going to be AMAZING! *-*
To EvilRegalTwinnies; haha I know you would, me too! haha But Regina is changing huh? Thank you!
To emanu cristina; Pois é... eles são fofos juntos né?
To snoopydoodles17; Oh, thank you so much. I am so happy you liked the wardrobe part, seriously. About your question... No :/ they didn't have this time (YET) to buy a new car. Yes, Regina is not the kind of person that just losts control... no, she is perfectionist and can really be cold and SHE IS A QUEEN! So, here is your update. I hope you like it! Kisses :*** and Thank you!
To Metope; You know, I kinda of freaked out when I received your review because I LOVE your stories, I love your imagination and creativity! I didn't know you read my story, so I got so so so happy when I saw that my favorite writer reads my fanfiction. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! About the episode, you know... I finished watching it and you were right! It wasn't boring at all! haha, but last episode was amazing. I loved this one. SO, that is it! Thanx for making my day! ;***
To MeMirellaVieira; Ah, muito obg Mirella. Beeeijos ;)
To opheliafrump; Yeah, they don't get what they really deserved, but I'm happy too. You asked, you have it... Cora in this chapter. See you, sweet *-*
To LYuthia; Yes, long time... but I forgive you haha 'cause school really can be a bitch haha! I know it very well, believe me! Ownn*-* I am so glad you really liked it, it make me smile! Hey, you weren't too late, thank you so much! Kisses ;**
To md88; Regina and Lana (L) haha I'm feeling really special and badass right now. You can't do that! You can't say I'm better writer than Adam and Eddy... my ego can't handle it hahaha I feel like you are trying to spoil me. English is not my first language too, I couldn't do it without my beta reader :) Kisses ;***
To mihpuretachi; Ah sim, com certeza! Pobre Henry!
To Gotapenname; I'm glad you're glad HAHA! Here is Cora. Let me know what you think. Btw, Do you think Cora can change? Regina did, why she can't huh? ;**
To anapcmesquita; That is why I told you. Regina indeed has a good heart and SHE IS CHANGING (in the show), she is my baby *-* Yes... they are going to live together, like a real family and don't worry... there are a lot of happy, funny and fluffy chapters coming :) Kisses PS.: Lov u too!
To Kristy; Thank you so so so much! You are AMAZING! Seriously! :**
Enjoy!
CHAPTER 38 – I CAN'T LOSE YOU
Some days had passed and life was beginning to return to normal. To the dismay and concern of Archie, Regina had returned to work at City Hall. Against the will of all, she continued to visit Cora. The training continued, but she was no longer present. Now there was just Emma and David.
Sometimes, in the morning, Regina left the City Hall and went to find her mother in the mines. She tried to hide it sometimes, but she knew she couldn't keep lying, mainly to Archie. Then, she told him. He was upset and worried and she realized that he was right to do so, but she also claimed that her mother had changed. He, more than anyone else, should believe that people could actually change because she was living proof of that.
Now, there was Regina, in the mines with her mother.
"You're beautiful, my love." Cora praised again as Regina protested against her body.
"Ugrh." She growled a bit upset.
Cora couldn't resist, she left a high laugh escape her lips. Regina looked at her indignantly, but then a smile formed on her lips as well. After a few seconds, a sad smile appeared on Regina's face and Cora realized that.
"What is it? Why are you sad?" Cora asked worriedly.
Regina sighed. "You've changed."
"I have tried. I'm changing for you..." She smiled. "I'm changing for them. I'll be a grandma."
At the sound of these words, Regina's heart swelled even more. She still loved her mother and she knew, she was sure she was changing. She wanted her daughters to have a grandmother, since her father and Archie's parents were no longer here.
Regina didn't notice that her eyes filled with tears and now Cora was looking even more worried.
"What is it, Regina?"
"It's just that... I'm sorry, mother. I'm sorry you're stuck here all these months."
"Don't worry, my love." Cora said sadly. "I deserve to be here... I did horrible things-"
"No. You're changing, you've changed." Regina interrupted. "I also did horrible things, but I got another chance and things are going fine. I don't understand why they can't give you a chance too." She started to cry.
"They?"
"Everyone. They don't believe in your change, mother. They want to forbid me to come here and see you, but they can't do that. I know you, I know you can change. I know that you are changing."
"And I'm so proud of you, my baby. You have stood up for me, but they have reason to be afraid."
"But they can't boss me around and... and I... I can't lose you. I only just found you and I can't lose you-"
"You won't lose me. I'll be here for you and for these tiny little ones. I already love them so much."
"You don't understand, do you?" Regina started getting hysterical and Cora startled a little. "Don't you see what's happening? They will kill you. Once these girls are born they will kill you. David, Emma and Rumpelstiltskin are preparing for it. I was so angry, I couldn't think straight... I was preparing myself for that too, but... but I realized that you changed and you love me and I love you too... and... and I don't want to lose you. I can't let them kill you."
It was so much a statement. Regina was talking hysterically and Cora was totally speechless, she didn't expect this, she definitely didn't expect this kind of revelation.
"Regina... I... I..." Cora was stuttering. "I really don't know what to say... I... I'm sorry."
"No, Mom. You don't need to apologize. It's not your fault. It's my fault, because I was teaching Emma, but I won't allow it. I'll talk to them as often as needed and I won't let them touch you or try to hurt you. I promise, mother."
"Oh, my love. I know, don't worry about it." Cora said as she tried to wipe the streaked face with tears that Regina had. "I trust you."
"I love you."
"I love you too, my love."
Belle and Mr. Gold had taken the day to have a picnic, just the two of them. Belle was lying on a blanket spread on the floor and she had her head in Mr. Gold's lap, who spoke and looked at her with eyes full of love.
"But don't you think it's dangerous, Rumpel?" Belle said.
"While she is stuck in that cell, she has no power. She can't hurt Regina."
"But you said that Regina should find out for herself and that Cora shouldn't know about the twins. What happens if Regina has already told her? What if Cora already knows about the twins?"
"Then I fear for the girls' lives. We can't trust Cora, she has no heart. She can't change." Mr. Gold said.
"There is nothing we can do? Nothing that you can do to avoid Regina to go visit Cora?"
"You don't know Regina like I do, Belle. She is a persistent woman and when she wants something, she doesn't stop until she gets it. If she wants to see Cora, none of us can prevent her."
But, before Belle could answer him, a noise came from behind a tree and scared the couple.
"Hello?" Belle called.
"Who's there?" Mr. Gold said starting to get up.
When no answer came, Mr. Gold's gone on a magical cloud and appeared behind the tree, revealing the person that was hidden.
"Snow!"
"I'm sorry, I... I wasn't following you, I was just walking and I saw you and-"
"What were you doing hiding? Your mother didn't teach you that we shouldn't listen to the others conversation?" The man asked angrily.
Before Snow had time to answer, Belle appeared and smiled at her.
"Snow!" The woman ran and hugged her friend. "What are you doing here, you scared us."
"She was snooping." Mr. Gold said crank.
"No. I wasn't snooping. I was just walking through the woods."
"Don't worry, dear. Do you want to join us? We are having a picnic."
Both Belle and Snow watched as Mr. Gold rolled his eyes and let out a groan of disgust.
"Don't be grumpy, Rumpel." Belle warned.
"What have you heard?" Mr. Gold ignored Belle and turned to Snow, wondering exactly what part of the conversation Snow had heard.
"I... I... hear-"
"Don't stutter!" Mr. Gold rebuked.
"Actually, I heard a piece, hm... I heard that Regina must find out for herself and that Cora shouldn't know about the twins. What must Regina find out?"
"I told you she was listening to our conversation."
"Rumpel, I think we need to trust her, she may know a way to help." Belle asked.
"No!"
"But she can help us with this. She might know a way to convince Regina to stop going to visit Cora."
Snow was just watching the interaction between the couple. She watched as, after much struggle, Belle managed to convince Mr. Gold to trust her. She joined them and they all sat down around the sheet spread on the grass.
"So... what is it that Regina must find for herself?" Snow was the first to break the silence.
"Well, where do I start?" Mr. Gold thought aloud.
"You can start by explaining to her the prophecy." Belle offered.
"Prophecy?"
"Yes, Snow, prophecy." Mr. Gold began to explain. "There is a prophecy that says that there will be a great battle between good and evil. This battle will take place between two witches. This prophecy also says that from the belly of the witch who will destroy evil will be born twins, two girls."
The couple watched as Snow's eyes widened in realization.
"Regina!" She almost screamed in realization. "Regina is this witch."
"Yes, Regina is this witch and Cora is the other." Mr. Gold confirmed.
"Wait. Why must Cora not know about the twins?"
"Because if she knows that Regina is carrying two girls in her womb, she will know that the prophecy is being fulfilled and she will not allow it. Cora has hunger for power and she will not let anything or anyone get in her way."
"What do you mean?" Snow asked scared. "You think Cora would hurt the girls? Do you think she would hurt her own granddaughters? They have nothing to do with it."
"Actually, dear, they are the reason for all this." Mr. Gold said.
"How so?"
"When a witch becomes pregnant with a girl, this child is born with powers and the witch becomes more powerful than her mother. Cora is the most powerful witch I know. Since Regina was born, I don't know anyone who has as much power as her."
"And Cora knows that?"
"I'm sure she knows. If these girls were born, they will be born very powerful and Regina will become the most powerful witch of all time. Cora will not be strong enough against Regina and she will not allow that to happen."
"My God, we have to warn Regina." Snow said getting up.
"No!" Belle cried.
"No way." Mr. Gold interrupted. "You can't tell her. She can't know that."
"Why not?" Snow asked confused.
"Because, dear, the prophecy says that Regina will have to find the power to destroy Cora within herself. If we tell her, she may even believe, but she will not have found the power and the right motivation to destroy her."
"What if I tell you that Cora already knows about the twins?" Snow asked.
"Then, my dear, we have a much bigger problem."
Regina was having lunch with Archie and Henry. Pongo and Perdita were in his office. The sound of the door and Emma's laughs got their attention and Henry motioned for that she and David get close.
"Hey, Emma." The boy said excited. "Hi, Grandpa."
"Hi Henry, what are you doing?" David asked.
"We're having lunch, want you to sit with us?" Archie offered.
"Yes, please. I'm starving." Emma was the first to respond.
"News." Regina said feigning bored.
"You won't believe what I did today, Regina." Emma said excitedly, ignoring Regina's last comment.
"What? Did you burn a tree?" Regina tried a joke.
"Stop being so grumpy. No, I didn't burn any tree. I learned how to create one of those barriers that you love to use and I did it all by myself." Emma said with a proud smile.
"Too bad it didn't last long, huh, Emma?" David said pushing her daughter's shoulder.
Emma looked offended by the revelation of this little detail. The four people at the table burst into laughter, but suddenly Regina become serious.
"What?" David asked.
"You are still training, aren't you?" Regina asked seriously. Her eyes were making contact with Emma's.
"You know we are, Regina." Emma replied.
"No, I don't know." Regina spoke, her voice was cold. "Why do you continue training?"
"You know why, Regina. The girls are coming up and as soon as you're ready, you know what will happen." Emma said.
"You will not kill my mother." Regina chafed and spoke with her eyes full of anger.
"Regina, we've discussed this." Emma countered.
"I don't care what we have discussed. No one is going to kill my mother."
"Regina-" Archie tried to calm the woman, but she interrupted him.
"No!" She said angrily. "I will not let you touch her, she's changing."
"I know you think she's changing, Regina, but she has no heart. She can't love." David said.
"Don't talk about her. You don't know her." She growled.
"No, Regina. I don't know her, but I know what she is capable of. A mother who does what she did to you can't love."
"Enough. I'll not stand here and listen to this." Regina stood up and started walking toward the exit door.
"Regina." Archie called, he was right behind her, but she didn't stop.
"Mom?" Henry ran. "Wait for me."
And, only then, Regina decided to stop. The anger in her eyes gave its place to the only feeling she could show when it was about Henry. Love and admiration. She turned to look at the boy who was now in front of her. To the boy's surprise, Regina had tears in her eyes.
Emma and David were watching the scene from afar while Archie was close enough to hear what they were saying, but far enough not to invade that private moment between mother and son. The three watched as the boy involved Regina in a hug and she responded likewise. She had her eyes closed and a single tear made its way across her face. So Archie heard the boy talking in his mother's ear.
"Mom, I need to tell you about my nightmares."
Regina sighed and reluctantly turned away from the boy's arms to look deep in his eyes. She lowered the maximum that her rounded belly allowed and her eyes were full of concern.
"What is it, Henry?" Regina asked.
"It's about Cora." Henry whispered.
Regina felt her heart leap. Regina's nightmares also involved Cora, but she was always there to help her, to try to bring her sanity back. A thousand thoughts crossed her mind in milliseconds. What if the nightmares really wanted to say something? What if they were a warning? What if Henry's nightmares had some connection with hers?
"You never told me that, Henry." Regina said.
"I was scared." The boy said sheepishly.
"You don't need to be ashamed of me, my love. I'm your mother." She said and kissed his forehead.
"I love you. I don't want to lose you." The boy said and hid in her arms again. His face was streaked with tears and all they could see was a scared little boy.
Regina frowned in confusion. Where did he get that he was losing her? He should know that she would do anything for him and she would go to the end of the world, if needed, to find him.
"Oh, baby. I'm not leaving you." She whispered in an attempt to reassure the boy in her arms.
"But she is going to hurt you." He muttered still hidden in her arms.
"What?" Regina asked. Did she understand right? "What are you talking about, Henry? Who's going to hurt me?"
"Cora."
"Henry-" Regina tried to stop the boy, but Archie approached and interrupted the conversation.
"Regina, I'll take you home and you and Henry can talk calmly." Archie offered and ran his hands around Regina's waist, pulling her close to him and they walked towards the car.
Archie decided to leave Regina and Henry at home so they could talk. Now, the two were in the kitchen. Regina was sitting with her elbows upon the marble countertop and her face between her hands, while Henry was staring into the refrigerator looking for something for dessert.
Regina knew Henry more than anyone and although Emma is his biological mother, Regina was the one who cared for him throughout his life. She knows every single detail of him and now she knew that he wasn't only willing to eat a dessert, he was winding up to speak. He was trying to delay a subject she knew she couldn't wait any longer.
Staring at him, she leaned her face in one hand and started talking, watching every move, every emotion that is being shown on her son's face.
"So, Henry, will you tell me about what these nightmares are?"
"Only if you tell me about yours." The boy replied quickly.
Regina sighed. She didn't want to relive those terrible nightmares and she didn't want her son to worry about it, after all he was just a child. Unfortunately, she also knew he was insistent and firm with his words. If he said he only will tell if she told hers, then he would only do if she did.
Then she took a deep breath. She didn't want to stay with that fear locked in her heart and she knew she could trust him.
"In my nightmares I always see you... and I see Archie and the girls." She began to explain. "We're a family, but... but I always become the Evil Queen and I end up hurting all of you." She said with a voice filled with sadness. "Then, my mother appears and tries to bring me back to reality. She saves all of you countless times and I always end up becoming the Evil Queen, no matter which version of me."
Henry had stopped to listen to his mother, but the things she was saying made no sense. He knew she was changing and she never, ever would hurt him or the girls, she was no longer the Evil Queen.
"Mom, they are just nightmares. You're not the Evil Queen, I 'm sure of it. You will never again become her." The young boy assured, while he looked profusely into his mother's sad eyes.
She smiled at the sound of her son's words. She, then, straightened up and asked Henry about what were his nightmares. She had told him about her nightmares, now it was his turn.
"I... hm..." The boy began to stutter. "I don't trust her, mom. She's not good, she will never be."
"Who are you talking about, Henry?"
"Cora. You shouldn't trust her and shouldn't be going to visit her-"
"Henry, if Archie or Snow sent you to say that I don't want-" She was a little irritated, but Henry interrupted.
"No, mom. They didn't. I did. I know that... my nightmares... she is always hurting you or hurting my sisters. She keeps saying that you can't have these babies and then she hurts you." The boy said and it was able to see the hidden fear in his eyes.
"Henry, I know these nightmares scare you, but you need to understand that she is changing. She will not hurt me."
"How do you know that?"
"Because I'm like her, Henry. You gave me a chance and look where we are. I love her, she is my mother and she has a chance too. She just needs a chance. She can change."
"No, she can't. Mom, she has no heart, you have one-"
"Enough!"
"She's lying... it's like in my nightmares. Only you can't see it!" The boy said angrily.
"Don't talk to me like that, I'm your mother." She warned him, but the boy continued angrily.
"That's why these things happen. You think you're strong and invincible, but you're not. Cora is evil and she doesn't love you, she doesn't have her heart. She can't love you, mom."
"Henry, I said that's enough-"
"No!" The boy screamed and ran out of the kitchen. Regina heard the boy up the stairs and seconds later the sound of the bedroom door closing.
She sighed wearily. The conversation had totally lost control, and now her son was angry with her. Unfortunately, at this time it didn't matter what he or the others thought. The certainty that her mother could change was much larger and she would cling to it.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a strong arm wrapped around her and an apple pie being placed on the counter in front of her. A smile appeared on her lips and he came over to kiss her.
"What were you thinking?" He whispered and gave her another kiss on her lips.
The smile disappeared and gave place to a sad look.
"What is it? How was the conversation with Henry?" He asked.
"We fought." She replied and suddenly her eyes filled with tears.
"Why?"
"My mother."
Archie just sighed and gave her another kiss, then turned to the pie forgotten on the bench and smiled.
"I'll talk to him and you eat the apple pie that I brought. Granny made especially for you." He said with a huge smile.
"I love apples." She said and saw Archie getting out.
So, what you think? Boring? :/ I hope you don't slept reading this.
About next chapter? Claire, it is better you stay away from Archie. Regina is not in the mood!
Kisses...
Bárbara
