CHAPTER 41 - KNOCK ON THE DOOR BEFORE ENTERING
A week passed and Regina had just been hiding in her work to try to escape from Emma's curiosity. Emma had struck a nerve in Regina, but she also knew that the blonde would stop at nothing to uncover the truth behind the troubled relationship she had with Claire.
Regina was tired all the time, but she was too stubborn to stop working and stay at home still. Archie, poor man, was divided between his own work and Regina. He had changed all his queries so that he no longer worked in the afternoon. He spends the afternoons at home taking care of the things that Regina couldn't do anymore. Some afternoons, Regina would listen to Archie's requests and they would spend the whole afternoon at home, enjoying each other's presence. When she wasn't home, she was in her office and he loved to go there to spend time with her while she did her work. He liked to think he surprised her every afternoon when he appeared there, but they both knew that Regina was already waiting for him.
Today wasn't different. Regina was in her office, lost amid the thousands of papers, when Archie appeared carrying a bag of food that Regina recognized from afar was from Granny.
A huge smile appeared on her face when she saw him. She rose from her chair and walked toward him. He wrapped her in a hug and kissed her softly on the lips.
"Have you eaten anything?" Archie asked.
"No, but I'm not hungry now." She said with a huge smile, bigger than what she had before, if possible, appearing on her face.
"What is it?" Archie asked, frowning in confusion.
Regina didn't respond. Not with words. Before Archie had any reaction, she kissed him passionately. This kiss was definitely not a quiet kiss, it was a kiss full of desire.
"I don't want food." She whispered between kisses.
"And what do you want?" He asked with difficulty. Regina attacking his lips that way and covering her hands over his body the way she was doing wasn't doing anything to help his mind to rationalize.
"I want sex." She fumbled talking and pulled him again toward her.
They stopped only when Regina bumped into her desk. The bump caused them to stop their passionate attack kisses and both of them had time to breathe. This fast time seems to have brought some sense to Archie's head.
"Yeah... well... I want sex too, Regina. Believe me, but you're-"
"Pregnant. Yes, I know. I was there when it happened and you too, if I remember correctly." Regina tried to distract the man again, but the irritation in her voice didn't go unnoticed.
Regina was starting to get irritated with Archie. They haven't made love for some time because Archie was afraid to hurt her or hurt the babies, but Regina was going crazy. She was pregnant and the hormones in her body weren't doing anything to help. Although she was tired all the time, she was also excited all the time. She had never felt that way and she was sure she would climb the walls if Archie didn't give her what she wanted.
"Hey! No need to get angry." He tried to defend himself.
"Please, Archie, it has been weeks... I know you're trying to be cautious, but nothing we do in bed..." She looked down and quickly shook her head. "Or elsewhere, whatever, will hurt our girls, I promise."
He looked at her with a hopeful and worried smile at the same time. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure." She nodded.
"Absolutely, completely sure?"
"Yes."
She said and turned to kiss him. She began tracing kisses down his face, ears, neck... she would drive him crazy, he knew it. Her hands began to unbutton his shirt and in a while she got rid of that little obstacle. He got carried away and began to kiss her. He picked her up and put her on the table that was behind them. She wasted no time and wrapped her legs around him. They continued kissing until he broke the kiss to remove her blouse. She was left only in her bra and he enjoyed the view he had.
She could list a million of defects in her pregnant body, but he loved each of these "defects". She was a very beautiful woman, but pregnant she was breathtaking.
"Can I get a second opinion about it?" He interrupted quickly, her breaths were exasperated.
"Only if it's Whale." She said between kisses. "But only after, because we haven't finished here."
Regina's belly was an obstacle that made things a little more complicated, but the desire that had been established in the last minute had grown unbearable. She still had her legs around his body as they hugged and kissed. He began to trail his fingers along her back in search of her bra, but be able to open her bra in the middle of this warm dispute of kisses and hands was becoming an incredibly difficult task. After a few failed attempts, he finally succeeded and the bra fell carelessly to the floor.
Things were really starting to get hot, to say the least. Regina didn't have much patience to wait. She needed him and he wouldn't leave her waiting. Not this time. He also needed her.
When they were together, the rest of the world didn't matter. They knew what they were doing. It was love. And they didn't care about anything else, because they knew that love, like they have now, wasn't easy to find. Love, true love, it was rare and many people died without having the opportunity to know this feeling. And they were presented with this amazing opportunity.
The point is that forgetting the rest of the world can be a problem and this problem can be called Emma.
They were so lost in themselves that they didn't hear the door open. In fact, they even remembered that they were in the Mayor's office, a public place. And yet, they also forgot to lock the door.
"Regina, I-" Emma threw open the door and was already almost in the middle of the room when she saw the scene rolling in front of her. She widened her eyes and opened her mouth.
"Miss Swan!" Regina yelled putting her hands on her breasts. "Close the door!"
Archie also was startled and bent to pick up the shirt that was now at his feet. He stared wide-eyed between Emma and Regina. Thinking quickly, he put his shirt covering Regina's front while Emma was still speechless.
"Emma... we... I was... we were-" Archie began to stutter, but Emma interrupted.
"Oh my God, I... I'm sorry... I-" Emma was stuttering more than Archie, if that was even possible.
"Close the door, Miss Swan!" Regina ordered, but Emma was too scared to move.
Regina was initially embarrassed, she had been caught by surprise and she couldn't feel more ashamed than she was feeling now, but then shame turned to anger. How often would she need to teach Emma to knock on the door before entering? But then, when she saw the frightened look on Emma's face, she smirked.
"Miss Swan, how many times have I told you not to come in without knocking? Is this so hard for you?" Regina said with a voice as cold as she could keep. She was controlling the urge to laugh and the look of panic on Emma's face was doing nothing to help.
"Regina, I'm sorry... I don't... I'm so-" Emma tried, she really tried, but the words just don't come out of her mouth.
"Get out of my office!" Regina ordered.
"I... I'm sorry, Regina." Emma tried again.
"I told you to leave."
She shuddered and just now she felt she could really move her legs again. She turned and closed the door behind her, leaving the two people inside the room alone again.
Once she was out, Regina turned to Archie and started laughing shamelessly. Archie didn't understand anything.
"Why are you laughing, Regina?" He asked exasperated. "She saw us... Oh my God, what if it was Henry?" His eyes widened at the thought.
Regina couldn't help but laugh even more.
"Henry wouldn't because, unlike Emma, he has education and he knocks on the door before entering." She said proudly. "And besides, I think we scarred Emma for life. At least now I think she will never enter without knocking first."
"You're crazy." He whispered back with a huge smile appearing on his face.
"Yes, I must be. Now, where were we?" She asked and dropped the shirt she was holding against her body.
"We were in the part where I lock the door."
"You did what?" Snow said with a shrill voice and wide eyes.
"She'll kill me, I'm sure of it." Emma commented desperate as she let her head resting in the palm of her hand.
"Yes, she will. And I won't be able to claim." Snow said. "You should learn to knock before entering into places." Snow said laughing to see that Emma's desperate and worried look only increased.
"Damn!" She let out exasperated.
"What is happening here?" David asked, closing the apartment door behind him. He had a smile on his face to see the two women in his life.
Emma didn't answer at first, she just groaned and buried her head in her arms. Then she whispered. "I'm dead."
Snow couldn't stand it anymore, she burst into laughter.
"She won't kill you because of that, Emma." Snow said. "But she definitely will use it against you when she needs to."
Emma snorted again.
"Use what against Emma? Who's going to kill her?" David asked. Considering the smile on Snow's face, he didn't think it was something really serious.
"Emma entered into Regina's office without knocking and found Archie and her... hmm..." The words trailed off Snow's mouth and a slight redness appeared on her cheeks. "You know..." She said with eyes slightly wide.
"Oh my God!" David's eyes widened. "Emma found them having sex?"
"They weren't having sex." Emma moaned. "Not yet."
Snow nodded. After a few seconds, David burst out laughing too.
"Oh, Emma... it was nice to meet you." He teased and then Snow and he managed to laugh harder.
Emma didn't know what she should feel. She was scared to death and then her parents, those who should love her and protect her, were right in front of her laughing at what would be her likely end.
"I can't believe you." She snapped, got up and grabbed her coat making her way to the apartment door. "You're laughing when Regina will surely kill me?"
"That's why we talk to you almost every day to knock before entering." Snow said and couldn't help but smile when her daughter left the apartment and slammed the door irritated.
"At least I think that now she will learn the lesson. If I knew Regina would leave her so terrified that way, I would have asked her to do that before." David smiled at his wife.
"You think?" She asked with a different smile appearing on her face. "You want to try?"
He did not need to respond. He got the hint that his wife was giving him.
"Ma!" The boy said excitedly running into his blonde mother's arms. "So, she told you anything?"
"What?" Emma asked absently.
"How what?" The boy frowned. "Did you find out anything about my mother and Miss Bennet?"
"No... I-"
"No? But didn't you go to her office today? You said you would only leave there with an answer."
"Oh, yes... this... I was... I... I mean... I went, but she was too busy." Emma tried to speak without stuttering, but the truth is that she was still terrified.
"Hmm..." The boy frowned at Emma's strange attitude, but decided to let it go. "It's been a week, we have to find out. What do you think about us going to ask? She won't get away from both of us."
The boy smiled with excitement, but Emma's wide eyes and head motioning denial quickly took him by surprise.
"I don't think it's a good idea, Henry."
"Why not? She must be at home with Archie there and she won't get so angry."
"I don't... think it's good idea... and, besides, I have scored a commitment... I can't go there today."
"Commitment? With who? Can I go with you?"
Henry was a very smart boy and even when he didn't know what was happening, he was still the kind of smart kid. She was sure that this kind of thing was something he learned from his adoptive mother. She had no commitment, but there was nothing in the world that would make her enter that house, neither today nor in the next few days at least.
"No, you can't come with me. I... I..." She was taken aback.
Emma was a terrible liar and didn't need anyone with special powers to know that she was lying about having a commitment.
"Why not?"
Luckily for her, she caught a glimpse of Neal going across the street, she ran up to him, pulled one of his arms and turned to Henry.
"I have to have a talk with your father. That's why you can't go." She said and smiled triumphantly.
Neal was confused, but he knew Emma well enough to know that she was lying and he had been an escape. The best part was that he had spent the last few days inviting Emma to go out for a talk, but the blonde refused every time. She had no chance to escape this time.
Henry looked from his father to his mother and in a moment the triumphant smile on Emma disappeared when she saw the smile growing on Henry's face. The blonde already knew him very well to know what was going on in his head. He had confused everything. That definitely wasn't happening.
Emma withdrew her hand from Neal's arms and walked away with wide eyes.
"Kid, this isn't what you're thinking." She said in a rush.
"Yeah, I know." He said with a mischievous grin and ran. "I'm going to mom's home." He shouted from afar.
"Henry, wait-" Emma shouted, but the boy was already far and then just disappeared around the corner.
She sighed defeated and when she turned back to Neal, he was sketching Henry's same mischievousness.
"No way." She commented.
"Do you want to lie to your child?" He asked and watched as Emma's eyes widened smoothly. "Wait. You already did, unless you go out with me."
Emma growled in defeat while Neal smiled happily.
"Mom, Archie!" The boy knocked on the door.
"Come in." Regina called.
Seconds later the boy's face appeared and he soon found his mother resting in Archie's arms. They had created this custom and every night that Henry was with Archie and Regina, he always saw the two sitting on the bed. Regina sat in front of Archie, resting the weight of her body into Archie's body while he massaged her belly and talked to her.
Once Regina saw him, she knew something was going on in the boy's mind. He was doing this look when he had something in mind, when he was planning something. Regina looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"What is it?" She asked, tapping her hand to her side of the bed, inviting him to sit.
"Nothing. What are you talking about?" He hurried to answer and lay beside them.
Archie was the first to laugh. Regina was his mother, but Archie had seen him grow too. He also knew Henry's every face, even though he didn't know him as Regina did, he knew the boy had some kind of operation in mind.
"Come on, Henry. You want to tell us something, tell us." Archie encouraged.
"Ok, here's the thing-" He began, but was interrupted by Regina and Archie who burst into loud laughter.
"I knew it." Regina said.
"Go ahead, Henry." Archie encouraged between laughs.
"You two owe Emma." He simply said.
"What?" Regina frowned.
"Why?" Archie asked confused.
"It's not obvious? You two are together because Emma and I had this operation to connect you." The boy said as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
"How so?" Regina was the first to say something.
"We realized that you liked each other, but mom was too stubborn to admit it." Henry said.
"I'm not stubborn." Regina said with a childish and cranky tone and crossed her arms over her swollen belly.
At the sound of those words, both Archie and Henry laughed loudly, but Henry decided to continue.
"Okay." He said wryly agreeing with her. "There was this operation that we called 'Operation Amor' and we decided that you two should be together."
"Hmm... Good to know that it was you who chose what is better for me and Archie." Regina said ironically.
"At least they made a good choice, don't you think?" Archie asked and gave a quiet kiss on Regina's cheek. At the same moment she melted and smiled.
"I'm still making up my mind about it." She said smiling and Archie smiled back, taking her hand and wrapping his fingers around her fingers. A movement that showed passion, confidence, affection, love and respect.
"And why, exactly, are you telling us this?" Archie asked.
"Because I think Emma is in love with my father."
"Who? Neal?" Regina interrupted.
"Of course it's Neal, who else could it be?" Henry frowned. This badass way for sure came from years of living with Regina.
"I'm still not understanding where you're going with this."
"Come on, you know. She got you two together, let's get them together too."
"Henry, I don't think it's a good idea you get into it and, besides, you don't-"
"This is a great idea!" Regina vibrated in her place. Her eyes were a different shine and her smile was radiant.
"What?" Archie asked confused. "Regina, you're not serious."
"You bet I am."
"But you don't even know if Emma likes him or if he likes her. No. We won't do that." Archie said decidedly.
"Of course they like each other. He is an idiot who is drooling over her all the time and she is still angry with him for having been left, but who cares? She likes him, I'm sure." She said seriously.
"Yes." The boy vibrated in joy. "We need to find a name for our operation."
"Yes." Regina quickly agreed.
"No." Archie spoke once more, but both Regina and Henry ignored him and continued their conversation. Looking at them this way, they seemed complicit in a crime. They were too entertained to give attention to anything that Archie says now. "Poor Emma." He whispered.
After some time thinking, Regina smiled brightly. "What do you think of Operation Swan?"
"What?" The boy frowns. "This is the most obvious operation name I've ever heard, mom."
A loud guffaw draws the attention of both of them and they found Archie laughing at the offended face that Regina is doing.
"What?" She asks.
"Like mother, like son." He answered and enters the bathroom.
"What do you think of Operation 'rents?" The boy asks.
"'Rents? From parents?" She asked with a frown.
"Yeah." He says cheerfully.
"Are you serious? My idea is a thousand times less obvious than yours." She mutters.
"No it's not!"
At that moment Archie come back from the bathroom and finds the two arguing over names. He had heard the two ideas and, indeed, it was ridiculously obvious.
"Anything would be better than Operation Swan or Operation 'rents, seriously." He interrupts. "Even Operation Beetle is more appropriate and less obvious."
"Operation Beetle?" Regina questioned with a smile and he just knows that she's thinking about the idea.
"No, I didn't say that." Archie is quick to try to stop the thought. He didn't agree with this operation and he didn't want to be the one who had given this idea.
"I loved it." Henry said. "What do you think, mom?"
"I think it's... appropriate."
"No... no... don't." He approached the two people in bed and wraps his arms around Regina. "You are very stubborn." He says and kisses her cheek affectionately. "And you're too creative for your own good, young man." He points to the boy and grimaces.
"I'm fine, Archie." The boy replied and started to get up from bed. "I'll start planning the details for Operation Beetle, mom, don't worry."
"I'm not worried at all." She smiles. "Now is your time to go to sleep."
"Okay, good night, mom." He said and turned to hug her.
"Good night, my little prince." She said and kissed his forehead.
Then he bent down a little and gave two small kisses on Regina's belly, one on each side. He always did it. "Good night, Lilly. Good night, Bella." And then he turned to Archie and hugged him as he had just done to Regina. "Good night, Archie."
"Good night, Henry."
So, what you tought? Did you like it?
Next chapter we may find out why Claire and Regina hate each other.
Leave me reviews! Let me know what you thought. If you have sugestions, prompts or anything... just let me know.
