I don't own Harry Potter or Code Lyoko

Mutiny

Jeremy sighed as he typed with Laura watching him. Harry checked the code as Jeremy entered it.

"Wait, let me do it."

Harry grumbled under his breath as Laura swapped with Jeremy. "So, your virus? Isn't it better like that?"

"That depends on what you define as better," pointed out Harry.

"Not bad at all. Xana has no chance against that." The three left the lab.

"Still, if our virus is so good, why don't we implant it now, straight away?" asked Laura.

"Stop it Laura, you know why," said Jeremy. "The virus won't just neutralise Xana but will also destroy the Cortex's supercomputer."

"So?"

"At the moment, the supercomputer is the only way of contacting Aelita's mum," explained Harry. "The program I use to redirect the emails I send so Tyron doesn't find us sends the email through it."

"But that's ridiculous! Xana is a real danger. You can't take him lightly."

"We're aware of that Laura," said Jeremy sharply. "We know what we're doing. And we all made this decision together."

"Don't forget that we've been doing this for far longer than you have," added Harry.

"But Jeremy, do the maths," continued Laura as they walked out onto the factory. "What's the probability of Aelita finding her mother? One chance in a million? In ten million?"

"I talk to you about hope and you reduce it to statistics?" Jeremy shook his head. "We made a promise to Aelita and as long as there's a chance, no matter how slim, we take it. And if you don't want to understand that, too bad for you!"

"Well, I already know where she's being held," said Harry with a shrug. "Now it's just a problem of how to get her out of there."

The two boys walked off.

"Ok, where are you really?" whispered Jeremy.

"Heading to the Cortex. No offense but I don't trust her to not try to use the virus."

Kadic

Odd walked into the gym as Jim checked the equipment.

"What's all that Jim? Will there be work?"

"Exactly Della Robbia! Physical work! You have in front of you the new Kadic cross country course! Cross through the arches, climb staircase A, go down staircase B, jump some benches, I could go on and the best parts… Meet up after lunch and eat lightly."

"He's crazy, totally crazy," muttered Odd as he walked away.

Later

Yumi ran down the path as the bell rang.

"Hey Yumi." William walked over to her with a book. "Here, it's by Baudelaire."

"Uh… yes… That's nice… but there's a maths quiz tomorrow and I need to study… And with the track soon I don't have time…"

Yumi ran off as William sadly watched her go. Laura approached him.

"A team huh?"

"She's busy, I get that."

"They stick together, I get that. They're solid and you're left on the sidelines," continued Laura. "Boohoo, I have a maths tests so your poetry, no thanks. Admit it William, we could make a team. A real team."

William nodded slightly.

Class

"Listen up you group of slugs," shouted Jim through the megaphone. "Today is the cross country course of your life! It counts double for your grade point average so let's warm up! One! Two!"

"Aw man, I smell zero marks," muttered Jeremy.

"Try to match my pace, you'll get there," suggested Aelita as she looked around. "And William, he's not here?"

"In my opinion, he'll arrive at the last minute to show off. It's his style," said Ulrich with a shrug.

"I haven't seen him," said Harry with a frown. "I just hope that nothing bad is going to happen."

"He'll turn up," reassured Sissi.

"I hope so."

"I could always try a spell to find him," offered Luna.

"It'll be fine Luna."

Sewers

"You're really sure that you know what you're doing?" asked William dubiously. "Right now? And only with me?"

"It's precisely why it's just us that we have a chance," explained Laura. "We have to use finesse. You go into the dome, sneak over to the supercomputer, implant the virus and…"

"And finish Xana?" asked William.

"Exactly. Who can blame us? They're blinded by their emotions William. It's up to us to make the decision in their place."

"Harry's not blinded by emotion," protested William. "He knows the dangers, what could happen to him. He's braver than you know."

"Let's go. They're all bust with Jim's stupid cross country."

Kadic

"You ready? So... three, two, one! Go!"

The students started to run.

Factory

"We're good, the virus is charged. I'll transmit it to you in the dome. Are you ready?"

"Ready!"

Lyoko

"It feels a little weird being here without the others," commented William as he looked around.

"At least you have no one around to criticise you. Go on, we're losing time. I'll send you the elevator."

"And the Skid?" asked William as he ran onto the elevator. "I've never piloted it before. Normally it's Aelita's job. And don't get me started on the Lightning. I can't get access to it without Harry. It's dependant on him to even get to it."

"A formality. And then I'm going to guide you. I've observed Jeremy enough to do it. No reason to worry."

"I'm not worried. I'm measuring the risks, that's different. Can I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead."

"What are you doing all this for? They're not going to like it you know."

"I know. But that's the price that the misunderstood like us have to pay."

"Yeah." William walked over to the pads. "We'll see if you're ready to get me to the Cortex in one piece."

Kadic

"It's not normal for William not to be here," commented Yumi as they ran down the corridor. "He'd never miss an opportunity like this."

"I know. But what can we do about it?" asked Aelita.

"I'm going to try and find out where he is," decided Yumi. "Can you cover for me?"

"Ok."

Yumi separated.

Lyoko

"It's the moment of truth," said William as he pressed some buttons. "Ready?"

"More than ready."

William guided the Skid out of the garage, not noticing that the passage to the lightning was open.

"Terrific!"

"Now you dive into the digital sea and head west south west."

"I vaguely get the impression of being the captain of the titanic," said William as he headed towards the Cortex.

"Don't worry, I know exactly where the icebergs are sailor. Just about."

"What?"

"There are some monsters lying in ambush. Very close."

"Well done Laura."

"Let them come, it's an isolated group."

"Alright."

The digital water turned red as the monsters approached and William placed his hands on the trigger. He hit one.

"That's one, keep it up."

William let the monsters pass before chasing them.

"Come my children, it's time for a snack!"

William hit two more before doing some tricks to get the last one.

"Wow William, you're great! The two of us are the dream team."

"Harry's better. But then again, his reflexes are good. I wish he was here."

The Skid rose from the digital sea and William guided it to the docking point.

"Ok," started William as he was transferred to the platform. "Not a monster in sight."

"Well, that's pretty cool, right?" asked Laura. William glanced around and frowned as he saw the Lightning but didn't mention it.

"Hm, I don't really like it. Can you send me the Megapod quickly?"

"Hey, just a minute. I'm not a robot."

"You told me that you were better than Einstein and I believed you!"

"Yeah but I'm a tech whiz, not a wizard," pointed out Laura as she tried to load the Megapod. "Why doesn't it work?"

"Move it Laura."

"Just a moment."

Sewers

Yumi crouched and picked up the book as she remembered what William had said about it.

"William?" She pulled out her mobile. "Aelita? I'm going to check out the lab. William might be there.

"Do you need backup?"

"No, it's ok. It could be nothing."

"Ok, keep me posted."

"Ok."

Lab

"I can do it, I can do it, I can do it."

"Just what I needed," said William.

"What?"

"Showtime!" William pulled out his sword as the Krabes approached. "I've got company. There's too many of them."

"Wait, I'm nearly there! I've got it! Oh no. No way!"

William jumped out of the way of a strike. He sliced another's leg before getting knocked back by a third.

"I'm surrounded! Laura! Hurry with the Megapod! Without its protection, I'll never make it! This si where Harry would be useful. This amount of monsters are nothing to him!"

"I can't materialise it. Two seconds."

"I don't have two seconds!" William turned as he heard something growl behind him and froze in fear. "No… Not that!"

"What?" asked Laura.

"A Scyphozoa! Xana sent a Scyphozoa!" William tried to move away but was stopped by a Krabe. "Forget the Megapod! Devirtualise me!"

"Well, which one do you want?" asked Laura. "The Megapod or devirtualisation?"

"If you don't do it, I will!" He reached for his sword but a Krabe stepped on it, causing it to disappear. "Laura! Help me!"

"Huh? Laura?" asked a surprised Yumi as she entered the lab. "What are you doing here?"

"This isn't the time," said Laura as she concentrated on her work. "Let me do this. I'm in control."

"Where's William?" Yumi glanced at the screen. "You sent William there… Is that it?"

William stood up and continued to slowly back away as the Scyphozoa pointed its tentacles at him.

"William? It's Yumi. What's going on?"

"Yumi… It's Xana… he's going to… Xanafy me..."

William tried to run but there was nowhere to go as the Krabes surrounded him. The Scyphozoa stretched its tentacles out but never reached William. Someone grunted and William rolled over.

"William? William?!"

"Go William." Harry's voice was starting to distort, his skin was turning green and the eye of Xana appeared on his head. "Before Xana takes control. I can't fight him. Not for much longer anyway."

"Harry..." William hesitated.

"Go! Now!"

"Just as you freed me, I will free you." William turned to smoke and sped away.

Lab

Harry's ID card changed as it appeared.

"But… What happened?" asked a confused Laura.

"It turned black," said Yumi as she glared at Laura. "Don't you understand?"

"It's a small problem," said Laura with a shrug. "We'll sort it out."

"A small problem? It's a very big problem! Harry has been Xanafied on and off and he was willing to do it to protect William who was controlled for months. It was a pain getting both of them out of it though Harry was a far sight easier. Just wake his mind up and he'll do the rest."

"I didn't know…"

"There are lots of things you don't know! How could you believe that you were better than us? You may have just given Xana the world!" Yumi pulled out her phone. "Aelita? We have a huge problem. Warn Jeremy, hurry."

Kadic

Everyone ducked behind a column.

"I don't believe it," said Sissi. "Harry always knew that there was something wrong with that girl."

"I haven't had a good feeling about Laura from the start," agreed Odd. "But I never saw this coming. It looks like Harry was right."

"I just hope that they didn't have the virus on them," said Jeremy as he glanced at the clone. "Our first priority is Harry. We'll worry about the rest later. We need to get to the Cortex and get Harry out of there fast. I just hope Harry can hang on for a while. Why are you still here?"

"The boss tweaked us slightly."

"Is everyone around here infected with wrakspurts?" wondered Luna.

"I'll finish the cross country for us," said Odd as they separated.

Harry

Harry closed his eyes. Another tendril of smoke impacted him and he grunted.

"See? Is this so hard? All I have to do is seal your memories then I will have you for myself."

Harry could already feel his memories slipping away. He could sense Xana smiling as the program watched.

"Go to hell Xana."

"Sorry, can't do that."

Lab

"What the hell were you think?" asked an angry Yum. "Fighting Xana all by yourself."

"At least I take risks," said a confident Laura. "And I don't play heads or tails with the fate of the world."

"Risks? Harry and William took the risks and look what happened to them. And you did play heads or tails. What if you gave William the virus before you arrived at the Cortex? What then? And now Harry is being brought under Xana's control. It's not the nicest thing according to him. Have you seen Harry in action? He's got our powers and he's really fast. It's a good thing that he's got no inclination to go to Xana of his own free will."

Laura remained silent as Jeremy entered the lab.

"Yumi, get to the scanners. The others are already there." The two swapped places. "Did they have the virus?"

"I'm not that stupid. I was waiting for William to get to the dome before sending it to him and I didn't even know that Harry was there. I thought he was at school. I saw him!"

"That sounds like him," muttered Jeremy as he virtualised everyone. "You don't know Harry. He can be in three places at once. I know Harry wouldn't tell you because he doesn't trust you."

Cotex

"There's nothing here," said Ulrich as they looked around. "No sign of Harry or William."

"I'm sending you the Megapod."

"I want to drive," said Yumi. "I sent William away earlier. And if it was because of that…"

"William is really sensitive and on edge," pointed out Aelita "It's not easy to know what he's thinking if your name isn't Harry and that's because of… well, you know."

"Aelita's right," agreed Ulrich. "And Harry would sacrifice himself for any of us because that's who he is. Even if he hated them."

Kadic

"Come on you slugs!" yelled Jim. "You've got fourteen laps left! Make those jelly legs move! Come on!"

Odd paused for breath in front of Jim. "Della Robbia, where did you go?!"

"I had to take Jeremy to the infirmary. But I can't rest. I have to catch up to Aelita, Ulrich, Harry, Yumi, Sissi and Luna. They're way ahead."

"That's strange. I haven't seen them."

"Yeah, like a rocket."

Odd started to run again.

Cortex

"I found him."

"William? Where are you?" asked Jeremy quickly.

"Overlooking the dome. He's still attached to the Scyphozoa though."

"Don't engage. Wait for the others. We need to think of a plan."

"Jeremy, this is my fault. I could have freed him earlier but I ran. I was so scared. I have to try to free him." William started to pace as the Scyphozoa disappeared with Harry. "I should have never listened to Laura."

Laura groaned. "Why is everyone blaming me?"

"Because it's your fault. This was your idea. If you hadn't suggested that I come here, Harry wouldn't have needed to protect me. That means Xana wouldn't have a chance to Xanafy him."

"You said that the Scyphozoa was still attached to Harry?" asked Jeremy with a frown. "And stop beating yourself up. There's no way you could have known. You're as bad as Harry when you were first captured."

"Uh, yes. They've gone now and I don't know where."

"That must mean that he's not fully under Xana's control. We have to separate them."

Megapod

Kankrelats jumped onto the Megapod as it travelled along a crevice and started to attack the joints.

"Kankrelats!"

"Stay calm. Ulrich, I'm loading the turret. Take the controls."

Ulrich started to fire at the monsters and hit some of them before they destroyed it.

"They destroyed it!"

"Wait, I may have an idea."

"What's your plan?" asked Laura.

"My plan? You're dreaming. You lost the right to ask me anything. You put my best friend in danger." Jeremy started to type. "Ulrich, I've just programmed you an electrical bypass. That should solve the problem. Be careful, I'm sending you the juice… now!"

electricity arced over the body of the Megapod.

"There's still two of them attached," said Yumi. "They resisted."

"Jeremy, send me outside," said Ulrich.

"Are you sure?"

"Do it! transfer me!"

Jeremy did it and Ulrich sliced one just as the other leapt at him. The monster fell off as Ulrich clung to the Megapod. Jeremy trasnfered him back inside.

"There you have it, mission complete."

Kadic

"Della Robbia!" yelled Jim as Odd passed him. "Where are the others?! I still haven't seen them! Well, except Stern!"

"I've just lapped them! They're coming!"

"He's gone nuts!"

Cortex

William watched the Megapod arrive before joining them.

"You sure he was around here?" asked Aelita.

"Yeah. They were around here."

"Be careful," warned Jeremy. "There are things moving and a lot of them.

"Yeah, we can see that," said Yumi as Krabes arrived. "There are Krabes."

The Scyphozoa rose with Harry still attached and hanging freely behind them.

"Surround them."

"They obey everything he says," observed Aelita as the monsters obeyed. "Somehow, I think this is Harry's plan."

"Harry, it's us," called Yumi as she took a step.

"Silence."

"Harry, don't be like that," called Sissi. The monsters focused on her as Harry pulled out his zeiwhander. He sliced her and she disintegrated. The monsters attacked the others and they retreated to the Megapod.

"Anyone got any plans?" asked William. "I came up with distracting Harry while someone cuts the connection."

"That would work," said Aelita after a pause. "But who would do it?"

"I should do it," said William. "This is my fault."

"I want to do it too," said Ulrich. "Harry's my brother and family sticks together. Besides, I have a feeling that the fault doesn't lie on one person alone."

"I distract him while you cut him off from the Scyphozoa," suggested William. "Xana wants me as I was the original target."

Ulrich nodded.

"Be careful William. Harry is easily distracted when he wants to be. You need to keep his attention solely on you."

They walked back out. The monsters attacked but Yumi and Aelita deflected the shots. Luna pulled out her boomerangs.

"Harry, it's us," said William after he glanced at the girls.

"Harry? There is no one with that name here."

"That may be true but Harry's in there somewhere. I know he is," said Ulrich. "And I would say he's still fighting. Otherwise, you would have picked us off at a distance."

"I think Harry's got infected by wrakspurts," said Luna. "They make your head go fuzzy."

Harry's attention turned to William and he smirked. "Join me William. It would be like old times."

"Uh, no thanks," said William. "I'd rather be free. Besides, as Ulrich said, the real Harry, the one that we know and love, is still there. He's a fighter. I know he is. Harry has been and always shall be my friend. He's always been there for me."

Harry swung his sword at them. "You have no choice."

William pushed Ulrich out of the way before turning to smoke and dodging. Yumi destroyed a Krabe.

"I'm going to blow you up before trapping William."

"How about you try getting me first?" suggested William. "It would make getting rid of Ulrich easier."

Harry charged him, sword raised. William blocked as Ulrich started to slip behind Harry.

"I know he's in there Xana. Besides, this isn't what Harry does when he fights."

"Shut up."

"Who?" asked William with a small smile. "Me or Harry? I know Harry can go off on one at times."

"Both."

Ulrich pulled out his swords and cut the tentacles. Harry fell to the ground before standing up and smirking as the mark on his head seemed to glow.

"We were too late." Harry swung his sword around and devirtualised Ulrich.

"Harry, please! You have to resist," begged Yumi. She grunted as she devirtualised because of the kunai embedded in her stomach

"For you, Xana." The distorted voice was cold.

"Harry, please stop this," begged Aelita. "You're stronger than Xana. You've proven that so many times. You have to fight him."

"Why should I?" Harry chuckled darkly as he launched a kunai at Aelita before turning to William who closed his eyes.

"Aelita has a point."

Luna hopped towards him and threw her boomerangs. Harry caught them and destroyed them before stabbing Luna.

"That boy is gone now. He had been removed. There's is only me, Xana's servant. There is no way for me to go back."

Harry turned around and walked towards the core. Growling, William super smoked to in front of him and pressed the tip of his sword to Harry's throat. Odd came and fired at Harry who turned to smoke and used it to get to Odd then cut him in half before landing on his feet.

"Weak."

Cocking his head, Harry nodded to himself before appearing next to William and grabbed him. Lines of code slipped into him.

"William, get away from him. Harry's taking Xana's source codes back for him." William dispersed and reformed a few metres away.

"You got any ideas how to get out of this mess?"

"Hang on. I think I might have something. There we are. You need to devirtualise him."

Calling his sword, William watched Harry approach him again. The possessed boy was confident.

"Stop fighting me William. You know you cannot beat me."

"I can give it a go." Rushing forward, William swung at harry who rose an eyebrow. The sword passed straight through him. "What the…."

The eye of Xana in Harry's forehead seemed to darken. "Hello William. It's been some time since we last talked."

William's blood froze. "Xana…"

"What? No, that's not possible." Jeremy muttered to himself. Everyone shared looks in the lab.

"It's all over," muttered Yumi. "If we can't break Harry out, the world as we know it is dead."

"I see you still have hope for Harry." Xana cocked his head. "The boy that you know is dead. I erased his memories."

"But he recognised me." William gripped his sword.

"I told him who you were. Now, if you'll excuse me. I have to bring Harry to me."

Xana pushed past William who swung his sword in an attempt to devirtualise him.

"So you want to fight. How about you fight this?"

Hearing the growling behind him, William turned his head to see the Scyphozoa. Skiing, Xana walked away. Closing his eyes, William leapt towards Xana who spun and caught him.

"I see. You're a determined one. I remember that. No, wait. What are you doing?"

Xana collapsed to the floor causing William to stare in confusion.

"What just happened?"

Harry

Whimpering, Harry closed his eyes.

"You've given up." Harry felt a hand on his face. There was a warm smile. "Finally."

The tendrils released him and Harry knelt in front of Xana.

"What do you wish of me master?"

Xana crouched and meet Harry's eyes. "You have so much hate. If I can use that..."

He placed his hand on Harry chest who eagerly moved into it. Hate rolled him, all directed at the humans.

"I wish you were always like this. A few more minutes and you will be all mine. I'll leave my codes in you for now. Protect them."

"Of course." The darkness was comforting, familiar. He could lose himself in it. A white light shone and Harry flinched away. Xana embraced him and started to whisper things.

"Soon my little one, you will be mine. You are my general, a title you would share with William."

The white light grew closer and shot towards Harry who dodged. The light shot around and hit his chest.

"Harry, please wake up. This isn't you."

"Master? Master, where are you?" Harry frantically looked for Xana.

"You won't fight him Harry. You need to be able to return to normality." Lily stared at her son in worry.

"I just want to serve. I don't even know you."

"You really don't remember. Here. Let me rectify that."

Lily pulled Harry into a hug, ignoring his protests. Eventually they subsided.

"Mum?"

"There's my boy." Lily smiled down at Harry. "Are you feeling better?"

"Xana took control…" Harry closed his eyes. "Is everyone alright?"

"You devirtualised everyone except William." Lily started to fade.

"Mum!"

"I'm sorry Harry. I could only appear to you twice."

"Xana will come for me sooner or later. I couldn't fight him this time."

"Yes. Just remember that any sacrifice for love is strong." Lily finally faded away as Harry reached for her. Everything returned to normal.

"MUM!"

Cortex

William picked up Harry as the Scyphozoa advanced on him.

"Now's not the time to be fighting back. I have to get out of here with Harry."

"William…" Harry cracked his eyes open. "William."

"Harry. Thank goodness. Jeremy, Harry's back. Bring us in please."

The two disappeared from the Cortex.

Scanners

Harry collapsed to the floor, tears starting to leak from his eyes. William crouched down.

"Stop crying Harry. It's alright. It's going to be alright." He pulled the boy into a hug. "It's going to be alright."

Harry soon calmed down. "Do you hate me?"

"Hate you?" William shook his head. "No, I don't. You sacrificed yourself for me. Why would I hate you? You didn't when you released me. Come on. Ready to face Laura?"

"I'd be glad to never see that girl again."

Lab

"Dog pile!" Everyone except Laura pulled Harry into a hug.

"Let me go!"

"You know, I'm sorry for putting you through that," said William sadly. "With… all that… I saw that I could count on you. I shouldn't have listened."

"Whatever," said Laura. "It's obvious that you haven't settled anything. Weakness is your thing."

"Oh really?" said Harry with an angry face as they separated. "I'd like to see you keep Xana out of your head. It's not exactly easy."

"And you can keep quiet. If not…" threatened Odd.

"You never let anything go, huh?" asked Yumi. "Don't you realise that we almost lost Harry today?"

"And the virus?" asked Jeremy.

"Xana actually took control," added William. "I have no idea what that did to Harry's psyche. Trust me, being controlled by Xana isn't a good thing."

Harry curled into a corner.

"And if Xana kept Harry, we would lose," continued Yumi. "Harry's too fast for us to fight. I have a feeling he wasn't really interest in fighting William."

"Xana wanted to turn into his puppet again," said Harry with a sigh.

"Harry is very brave to continue fighting something that wants him," commented Luna.

"I propose that Laura be excluded from the Lyoko Warriors," offered Jeremy. "We'll make a vote."

Everyone raised their hands.

"Well, we're all in agreement. Jeremy, launch the return to the past," said Ulrich. "She won't remember anything."

"The return to the past won't work on me," said Laura confidently.

"Harry fixed up a new version ages ago," said Jeremy. "And accentuating the space-time curvature so the supercomputer will focus on you, and bam."

"Well said Einstein," said Odd.

"You can't do that!"

"Watch me." Jeremy walked over to the terminal and started the return to the past. Laura glared at him as the bubble of light covered them.

Earlier

"Meet up after lunch and eat lightly," finished Jim

"He's crazy, totally crazy," muttered Odd as he joined Ulrich and William. Harry joined them as well.

"Talk about a mess," agreed Ulrich.

"Nothing to make a mountain out of?" asked William.

"So you want to do sport? You're the best and you want us to know?" asked Ulrich in return.

"I say this because I'm very afraid of you."

"That's right."

"Pft," muttered Laura as she passed. "Continue to show off boys. That's what your kind do."

"You still need to improve your return to the past Jeremy," said Odd. Harry rolled his eyes.

"That's nothing to do with the return to the past Odd. We should still keep an eye on her, right?"

"I wonder if we did well…" muttered Aelita.

"We had no choice Aelita," reassured Jeremy. "For people like her, everyone is a chess piece. That's not the kind of game that amuses us, right?"
