"Jeremy? Everything's good, we're approaching the core now. Nothing to report."

"Perfect. Keep it up, girls."

"Girls! Hey Jeremy, do you trouble you to call us by our given names?" asked Yumi. "For example, I'm Yumi and next to me is Aelita."

"Nice to meet you! I'm Einstein! And I promise to pay attention… girls!"

Yumi looked up to heaven, amused. "Ugh! Boys!"

Aelita laughed. "Talking about boys, how's it going with Ulrich?"

"Cool."

"Cool?"

"Cool!"

"What does that mean, 'cool'?"

"He's more attentive to me and he fights less with William," explained Yumi. "He's more mature."

Aelita's gaze turned distant. "We're all more mature. Thank you, Xana!"

They laughed. Aelita plunged back into her thoughts. Yumi watched her friend.

"You okay?"

"Huh? Yes ... I thought back to my mother."

"Ah ... You still think she is Tyron's prisoner?"

"It's logical, right? She knows I'm alive, but she hasn't contacted me! This is probably because she can't do it!"

Yumi focused on piloting again. "Anyway, we'll know in ten minutes..."

The Megapod progressed towards the heart.

"Uh-oh," muttered Jeremy as the alarm sounded. Harry groaned as Jeremy grabbed his phone.

"Now of all times?"

Kadic

William was reading on a bench. His phone rang and he picked it up.

"Yeah? ... Yeah ... Yeah ... OK!" He hung up, collected his belongings and headed towards the lab.

Lab

"He's not talkative today."

Jeremy entered a new number and lifted the phone to his ear before waiting.

Gym

Ulrich was practicing alone in Pencak Silat at the gym and didn't hear his phone ringing in the locker room.

Lab

"Come on Ulrich ... Answer!" a displeased Jeremy hung up and entered a third number.

Park

Odd sighed as he leant against a tree in the park, listening to music while his phone vibrated next to him. Further along the path, the gardener who walked along, pushing his wheelbarrow.

Lab

"What's with them? Is it the holidays?" muttered an annoyed Jeremy as he pressed a button the console. "Yumi? Aelita?"

"Yes Jeremy?" asked Aelita.

"I've detected an activated tower in the mountains."

"You called the others?" asked Yumi.

"Uh ... Just William! I don't know where Ulrich and Odd are."

Harry sent him a look.

"Since you have no one else, we'll deactivate the tower, is that it?" asked Aelita. Jeremy remained silent. "Well, turn around!"

"No, Aelita ... You must continue to the dome to locate Tyron's lab! Odd and Ulrich are eventually going to turn up."

"It's too dangerous! Xana is almost 95% of its power!" pointed out Aelita.

Yumi turned to Aelita. "Aelita! Your mother is important too!"

"Yumi's right! This is your last chance to get her back! Beyond 95%, we said we'll stop the research," reminded Jeremy.

"And I can handle the tower," added Harry. "We can get Luna and Sissi to check up on Odd and Ulrich."

"All the more reason to deactivate the tower! I'll return to the Cortex another time!"

Jeremy made to reply but remained silent.

Aelita turned to Yumi. "We'll return to the Skid Yumi."

"Are you sure?"

Aelita nodded and Yumi turned the Megapod around.

The elevator door opened on William.

"Ah! William... do you know where Ulrich and Odd are?" asked Jeremy.

"No."

Harry groaned. "They're going to be attacked. I just know it."

"Ah ... ok, Yumi and Aelita are coming back," said Jeremy.

"Ok," replied William.

"Yeah, no, ok ... does it occur to you to say more than one word at a time?" asked Jeremy

"Yeah." Jeremy looked at him. William smiled before laughing. "Do you know what the attack is?"

"Stop joking around William," said Harry as he shook his head.

Jeremy looked at the window belonging to the visual search which has not yet issued its result.

"It looks to be a spectre." He grimaced. "But I don't know who the lucky winner is!"

"Ok, I'll rush to Lyoko to pave the way for the girls."

"I'll come with you," said Harry as he stretched.

"Good idea!"

Lyoko

They appeared above the steep ground and landed the floor before looking around

"Jeremy? Where's the tower?" asked William.

"The tower is due north of your position!"

William looked in the direction and turned to smoke. Harry ran after him.

Park

Odd continued to lean against his tree, listening to music. The gardener approached him, causing the boy to smile.

"Hello Mister Rouiller!"

The gardener didn't respond.

Lab

The computer beeped as the visual recognition finally delivered the result. Jeremy looked up.

"Ah, for real?" he muttered as he looked at the result and grimaced.

Park

The gardener approached Odd. Odd looked a little taken aback before attempting to stand up, horrified as the eye of Xana appeared in the gardener's eyes.

"No!"

The gardener grabbed the boy's arm. Odd tried to escape, but he was paralyzed, unable to make a move. His eyes betrayed an intense panic. Then, the gardener released Odd as suddenly as he had caught him and disappeared.

Odd rested a moment by sitting on the ground then he comes back to his senses and realizes something.

"Oh noooooo." With a trembling hand, he grabbed his phone and entered a number. "Jeremy ... I was attacked by a spectre! I think he took all my codes!"

"What? Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'm sure! I have no side effects ... Nothing!" said an annoyed Odd.

"Well, apparently, it's over, I'll sound the alert," said a resigned Jeremy.

"OK." Odd suddenly realised that just what Jeremy had said. "Hey! No! Absolutely not! The spectre hasn't disappeared like last time! I don't know where it is though."

"What?" asked a worried Jeremy. "Well, try to quickly find Ulrich. If he gets trapped too…"

"OK, I'll let you know." Odd hanged up and sighed before going in search of Ulrich.

Cortex

The Megapod quickly travelled across the surface of the Cortex. A Megatank attacked suddenly. The Megapod spun around and hit a wall. Inside, Yumi and Aelita are shaken about.

"Aaaaah!" yelled Yumi. More hit shook the vehicle.

"Watch out!"

"Put up a shield!"

Aelita started the shields. "Turn around! Turn around!"

The Megapod reversed direction and started to climb out of the trap set by Xana as two new Megatanks joined the first.

"Energy to 35%," warned Aelita. A Megatank slammed into the side of the Megapod. "Energy to 17%! Hide somewhere!"

"On it!"

The Megapod veered back, momentarily leaving the Megatanks. Yumi managed to find shelter in a crevice. The Megatanks passed by, not noticing the Megapod.

"They won't follow us here..." said Yumi as she turned to Aelita. "How much energy ...?"

Aelita checked the console. "5%. The shield has eaten everything!"

"It's empty... Jeremy?"

"I agree with Aelita. Your energy reserves are too low. You'll never get passed the blockade."

The two frowned.

"How long will it take for you to recharge the Megapod?" asked Aelita.

"At first glance, a half-hour. But you don't have time to recharge as the Megatanks find you and finish the job. Anyway, it can't wait; I need you here on Lyoko! Odd was caught by a spectre and his codes all got taken!"

Aelita frowned. "What?"

"Yes, well, he is quite upset!"

"What about Ulrich? Was he able to join William on Lyoko?"

"Uh no ... not yet..." muttered an embarrassed Jeremy.

"What? But where is he?"

"I don't know exactly but Odd is looking for him. I hope."

Yumi turned determined. "Bring me back."

"No, Yumi ... So we didn't find Ulrich and that means that there is only you two to deactivate the tower! Four if you include Harry and William but if they don't make it, you'll need to deactivate it. You must get on board the Skid!" pointed out Jeremy.

"Yes, but Ulrich might be in danger!" exclaimed Yumi as she turned to Aelita. "Aelita ... devirtualise me!"

Aelita shook her head. "Sorry, Yumi, but I can't do that. Jeremy is right, it takes more than two to stop Xana!"

Yumi purses her lips, upset.

Lyoko

William watched from behind a rock at the patrolling Bloks. He lowered his sword and called Jeremy as Harry joined him.

"Jeremy? I'm there. Five Bloks are watching the tower. What do we do now?" asked William

"You wait for now. The girls are still on the Cortex."

"What? But when will they get here? Not to mention that I can go and deactivate the tower."

"Oh okay, huh! They do what they can. Don't be impatient!"

"It's not because I'm impatient! The Bloks will end up spotting me! And Odd and Ulrich, where are they?"

"Uh ... Odd has already been had. He lost all his codes! And I don't always get through to Ulrich."

William reacted immediately. "Devirtualise me! Harry can deal on his own."

"What?" asked Harry. "Haven't you heard of safety in numbers?"

"I don't want to put you in danger of losing your codes too ... Odd cares for Ulrich do he'll find him, the girls will arrive, and you'll wait, ok?"

Kadic

Odd ran up to two girls in the yard.

"Do you know where Ulrich is?"

Odd grumbled, while the two girls walk away chuckling.

"Very funny! Really super stylish!" muttered Odd as he looked up at the sky. "I don't believe it!"

A student passed nearby. "Hey! If you are looking for Ulrich, he trains at the gym!"

Odd grinned. "Cool! Thank you, Christopher!"

He ran off towards the gym.

Cortex

The Megapod remained hidden in the shelter.

"But if we leave the Megapod, we're very unlikely to get through," said Aelita

"I know ... But if you stay there, you both risk being devirtualised!"

Yumi and Aelita looked at each other.

"Ok Jeremy ... can you send me the Overwing?" asked Yumi.

"It's as good as done!"

Aelita and Yumi appeared outside as the Overwing also appeared. A Krabe arrived. Yumi's eyes widen and points out the monster to Aelita.

"Let's run!

Yumi climbed on the Overwing and flew away while the Krabe did the final blow to the unfortunate Megapod, which exploded before focusing on them. The two girls flew along the back wall.

"That was close…" a volley of lasers interrupted Aelita as more Krabes generously sprinkled the girls with lasers. They zigzagged to avoid gunfire. Yumi was hit several times and devirtualised.

"Yumi!" Aelita slalomed between the lasers, and manages to gain altitude.

Lab

"Sorry! It was a real pot shot," apologised Yumi as she entered the lab.

"I saw... Aelita has passed."

"Who's the spectre?"

Jeremy looked at the window with the gardener's face displayed.

"Rouiller... Why?"

"Because I'm going to get Ulrich."

"No! It's too risky," protested Jeremy. "It's better for you to stay in the lab."

"I don't want to wait! Ulrich may be in danger!"

The elevator door closed behind her as she left, causing Jeremy to sigh.

"Looks like everyone wants to do something other than you want them to do," said Harry as he looked up.

"Shut up Harry. Why don't you try to convince them to stay?"

"Because I know they have their minds made up and that there's nothing I can say to convince them otherwise."

Kadic

Odd entered the gym.

"Well then, what are you doing?" he asked as he walked over to Ulrich. "We've been trying to call you for an hour!"

"I don't have my mobile on it. I'm meditating."

"Hurry up, William's on Lyoko with Harry and there is a spectre around... But that's not it the worst thing..."

"Yumi?" asked a worried Ulrich

"No, not Yumi... me!" Odd faked a dramatic death. "I don't have any more codes!"

"Ah? That's ugly..."

Ulrich disappeared into the locker room, closing the door on Odd.

"What? That's all you have to say?"

Odd sighed.

"Aaaah!"

Sounds of fighting came from the showers and Odd rushed in to find himself face to face with Rouiller, causing him to yelp. He helped Ulrich up as the spectre walked away.

"Ulrich? Are you okay?"

"Uh ... Yes ... It's weird, I... I feel nothing!"

"Yes, it's ugly, huh? Welcome to the codeless club!"

Lab

"You realize that apart from Aelita, Harry and William, there's no one that can deactivate the towers?"

"Yeah ... we know! But right now, it's not a spectre we have here, it's a pit bull! Tell Yumi to not leave the lab!"

"That's ... Exactly, Yumi left to look for Ulrich!"

"Well, we'll find her."

"No! both of you come here, you must deactivate the tower!"

"But it's useless! We don't have our codes anymore! You said the same, we can't deactivate the tower."

"Aelita can still do it! and when she arrives, it's necessary that the road is clear!

Aelita landed on the skid. "Jeremy? I arrived at the Skid."

William and Harry continued to observe the tower. William was suddenly struck in the back by a laser.

"Argh!" He approached the Blok that had snuck up on them. "Want to play?"

He sliced the Blok in half. The monster disintegrated but William suddenly saw other Bloks approaching. Harry jumped on one and stabbed it before springing off.

"Jeremy? End of holiday, we've been spotted!"

"Hold on, William! Aelita is on route aboard the Skid and Odd is coming to join you!"

"And Yumi?"

"Uh... She got devirtualised and she's gone to Kadic looking for Ulrich. But... she doesn't know that he lost all his codes."

"What? Him too? This is such a load of crap! This time devirtualise me, and fast!"

"No way! The priority is to deactivate the tower!"

"No, the priority is to protect Yumi! Harry, help me!"

"I'm staying out of this." Harry shook his head. "Both are important."

"What's with everyone today?" muttered Jeremy. "William, I really need you to wait for Aelita. As long as we haven't deactivated the tower, the spectre won't back off!"

"I think everyone has different priorities Jeremy."

"Exactly! No doubt Yumi's codes will get taken!

"But Ulrich's taking care of it..."

"It's not up to you to decide!" William came out of hiding and into the firing line of the Bloks, arms outstretched. He was instantly devirtualised.

"William! What a troublemaker!"

"Hey, he's doing what he thinks is best," said Harry with a shrug.

Digital sea

"Aelita, you need to go faster."

"Faster? You're funny; I've got the pedal to the metal."

"Tough luck if you break the motor Aelita but we don't have much choice. Xana's swamping Harry with monsters."

Aelita started doing manoeuvres to dodge the Kongres before hitting them with her lasers.

Kadic

Yumi walked quickly in the empty yard as germ phone rang. She picxked it up.

"Ah Ulrich? Where are you? Ok, I'm at Kadic."

"OK! I'll meet up with you. Watch out, the spectre is Rouiller!"

"I know, Jeremy told me…" Yumi skidded to a halt as the gardener walked towards ger before yelling.

"What's happening?" Yumi dropped her phone as she ran. "Hello? Hello Yumi? Do you hear me? Hello!"

Ulrich

"Ulrich!" William joined him. "Where's Yumi?"

Ulrich hung up. "Kadic... Come quickly!

Both ran in the direction of the school.

Kadic

Yumi passed by an open door. She rushed inside as the spectre missed her.

Lyoko

Odd flew towards the Bloks on the Overboard and started firing.

"Look! That is for my codes! And that's for Ulrich's! Yes!"

The other Bloks start fighting back. The overboard was hit and Odd rolled on the ground before hiding behind a rock.

"Einstein! Where is Aelita?"

"Uh... on her way. She got attacked several times!"

"Yeah, well tell her to hurry! Things are heating up here!"

"Do you think she likes being delayed?"

"Geronimo!" Harry dived and stabbed several Bloks.

"That's cheating Harry."

Harry laughed.

Kadic

William and Ulrich arrived in the deserted yard.

"So what now?" asked William.

"I don't understand, she said she was here..."

He picked up Yumi's phone and the two shared a worried look. Ulrich dialled Jeremy and explained.

"What? Are you sure?"

William and Ulrich started to search the school

"We found her phone! We don't know where she is..."

"It's not possible! This is absolute carnage..." Jeremy sighed. "Well, try to find her. With luck, she's just hid somewhere! There may be some hope."

"Ok!" Ulrich hung up and turned to William. "She can't be far away."

William nodded.

Digital sea

"Aelita! Yumi's at Kadic with the spectre roaming around. We really need you."

"I'll get there as soon as I can. If only I wasn't attacked all the time…"

She hit another Kongre.

Kadic

Yumi peered out the slightly open door and watched the spectre walk around the yard in the distance.

"Go! Get out!"

Ulrich

Ulrich stopped by an arch as he watched the gardener Rouiller, strolling not far from him and pulled out his phone.

"William? I spotted the spectre," he whispered into his phone.

Lyoko

"You need more than that!" yelled Odd as he destroyed another Blok.

"Watch out! If you move any further back, you'll fall into the digital sea!"

Odd grined. "Einstein, thank you! I think they do it on purpose!"

The remaining Bloks advanced on him and Harry threw kunai at them.

"Where is Aelita?" he asked.

"I don't know."

The Skid appeared just behind Odd.

"YES!"

"Finally Aelita," muttered Harry.

KAdic

Still locked in the closet, Yumi opened the door slightly. There was no trace of the spectre.

"Where is he?" She sees Ulrich, far away in the yard. "Ulrich..."

Reassured, she came out of hiding.

Lyoko

Odd joined Aelita.

"Aelita thank you... you're just arrived in time!"

"Later!" Aelita ran towards the tower as she spoke.

"Hey? Do you care what I say?"

Aeltia entered the tower

Kadic

Yumi ran to Ulrich as he watched the spectre before realising Yumi's presence. He waved to Yumi to stop by indicating the presence of the spectre, not far from her.

"Stop!" he whispered.

Sensing that something was wrong, Yumi slowed and looked in the direction indicated. she froze when she saw the spectre which saw and grabbed her. She yelled out.

"YUMI!" Ulrich rushed to help his friend and tried to pry the spectre off. "Let go!"

The spectrum easily pushed the boy of it. Ulrich tried again and forced the spectre off as it exploded.

Yumi collapsed. Ulrich caught her and gently placed her on the ground as William ran over.

"Yumi! How is she?"

"I... I still have some codes," whispered Yumi as Ulrich hugged her.

"All is well! Did Jeremy not tell you? It's taken everything from me. I'm finished.

Lab

"Sorry Yumi, you have almost nothing," said Jeremy as he checked the display.

"Almost nothing is better than nothing," said Odd. "Me and Ulrich lost everything."

Jeremy sighed. "Yumi. Harry, William and Aelita are now the only ones to have codes. Xana has gained more of his strength."

"That's bad," said Harry with a shiver.

"How much power has Xana gained?" asked Willaim.

Jeremy hesitated, casting a look at Aelita. He sighed.

"Ninety-five percent.

Silence. Everyone realised what it meant.

"!e could postpone it until Xana gets to ninety-six?" suggested Odd tentatively.

"No way!" Everyone turned to her. She continued. "We said at ninety five, we attack! It was the deal, right?"

"Yes, but ... you know what that means," reminded Jeremy.

"I mean, if you're sure about this," said Harry.

"I know what it's like to live without a mum," added Luna. "Mine died when I was young. You have a chance to being yours back. I don't."

"And I only get to see mine a few times a year," commented Sissi.

"Where were you today?" asked Jeremy.

"I had to go out to a family meeting." Sissi made a face.

"And it's the anniversary of my mum's death," added Luna. Jeremy nodded slowly.

"Of course I know ... I do want to be able to contact my mother. But the fight against Xana is more important!"

They stared at Aelia who had her arms crossed defiantly over her chest before softening. She looked at her friends in turn.

"I can never thank you enough for what you have done for me. Of all the risks you took. I want to see my mother, but ... if Xana wins, it would be useless! As long as there is this risk, I can't live! Especially if I know you're in danger!"

Jeremy smiled at Aelita. "Aelita ... I already told you that you were a great girl, right?"

Aelita gave a small smile. "And I'm lucky you have as friends. You are more than that! You are my family."

She holds her hand to Jeremy, who caught it tenderly, while the others around him were both excited and appreciative. They were ready to fight.

"So, when are we going to do this?" asked Harry.

"As soon as possible," said Aelita.

"Ok. I can't say that I like the idea of Xana hanging around for much longer, doing whatever he does in his free time."
