Oh hey, look who's back! My apologies for the long wait, school takes up a lot of time and I've had a bit of a writer's block. So here's a new chapter of the story that hasn't updated in so long you probably forgot about it ;)
That night CaptainSparklez didn't sleep. He stayed up all night keeping watch over his friend, AntVenom.
Ant awoke early that morning and flinched on seeing Sparklez.
"Are you back to normal?" He asked timidly.
"Yes," Sparklez sighed. "It was Herobrine again, my mind must have been unguarded after GrailMore left." Ant nodded, but Sparklez wasn't done talking. "I'm sorry Ant, I can't even begin to explain how sorry I am. Do...do you hate me?"
Ant looked up at Sparklez, brown eyes meeting blue. "No, I don't hate you Sparklez. It's not your fault what happened, it's Herobrine's fault."
Sparklez gave Ant a weak smile and said, "Thank you, AntVenom." He served Ant some breakfast and the human thanked him. After eating, the amulet-wearing man spoke,
"Hey Sparklez, something happened after...after you kissed me. I felt physically sick and my head felt like a creeper had exploded inside it. Do you know why that is?" The Nether Prince frowned thoughtfully,
"I think that was a result of being close to Herobrine. I remember some humans who were touched by him were physically sick and many passed out soon afterwards. He had me torture many humans for him because it was no fun if they stopped responding after a few minutes...But you must be quite strong to react so little after such...uh...close contact." Ant nodded his understanding and Sparklez spoke again, "because of what happened, I would like to teach you something AntVenom. I would like to teach you to guard your mind."
Ant raised his eyebrows in surprise,
"So you're cool with me staying with you? I thought you wanted me back at the village."
"I do!" Sparklez said quickly, "but if you are going to stay with me then it is better that I help you learn to defend yourself." Ant blinked in surprise and said,
"Sounds like a plan, how do we start?"
"I am going to try to get into your head and you are going to try and stop me," Sparklez replied. "The most basic defense is a focused mind, if you are focused then you put up these "walls" which I would have to break through." Ant nodded and said,
"What should I focus on?"
"A strong emotion or memory works best. Are you ready to begin?"
AntVenom nodded and closed his eyes, as he had seen Sparklez do many times before. He searched through his memories and found one, a strong one.
He was back-to-back with Sky, diamond sword in hand, fighting Pigmen in the Nether. The grunting beasts were stupid, but by no means poor fighters.
Ant parried a gold sword and slew its owner. The Pigmen may be good, but he was better, much better. SkyDoesMinecraft shouted a warning to Ant as he dodged an attack. Ant turned to face the oncoming Pigman and winced in pain as his head started aching. The clash of swords and shouts of the battle faded away as Ant felt something push it's way into his mind.
It was an alien presence, unlike the mind of any human. It was colder and focused in a way no human mind was. It was very unnerving and as he thought that, Ant felt a strange sensation. He was paralyzed, he could not move his body. Then he blinked, but it wasn't him that blinked. It was-
Ant. I'm in you're head. I've taken full control over your body.
It was Sparklez. Ant realized, his friend's mind both foreign and familiar.
Good job, you lasted almost a full minute. I'm leaving now.
Ant felt Sparklez leave his mind and he blinked his eyes open to look at a grinning Sparklez.
"What's so funny?" Ant asked, annoyed that he hadn't lasted very long.
"You. You think I'm cold and my mind is strange."
"How did you know that?!" Ant ask,
"I was in your head AntVenom, I know what you're thinking. It is humorous to me."
"You have a strange sense of humor," Ant retorted. Sparklez frowned thoughtfully,
"Maybe I do. Or maybe it's you that is strange. Anyway, your memory was an interesting choice. I had thought for sure it would be something with GrailMore, but you surprised me with a memory from the Nether. That's why I took so long," the son if Herobrine explained, "emotions make breaking into minds much harder, it was one of the reasons Herobrine was so good at it. He had a limited range of emotions and so he could concentrate better than anyone else. He used to tell me stories, when I was younger. He told me stories of great wizards and thinkers from ancient times. He would rank them by how long they were able to protect themselves before he possessed them. Then he would learn what he could from them and kill them."
Ant looked with surprise at his friend, it was not often Sparklez told Ant about his childhood. He was interrupted from his thoughts when Sparklez said they should do it again to see if AntVenom would last any longer.
A few weeks later...
"Have you talked to GrailMore yet?" Sparklez asked his human friend while he expertly cooked some pork chops on a summoned flame.
"Yeah," AntVenom said with a smile on his face, he and his girlfriend had been talking almost everyday for the past three weeks. He had also been training a lot with CaptainSparklez both physically and mentally. Both of their injuries had healed completely, even if they had left some ugly scars. Those could be fixed back at town. The Heros of Minecraftia had moved from the humidity of the jungle to the stifling heat of a nearby desert to practice their skills. Or at least, Ant found it stifling, Sparklez enjoyed the warmth.
Ant had known about an old pyramid that was rumored to be a week from town and Sparklez had been able to find it. His sense of direction was amazing, but he was a demigod after all. "Hey, Sparklez?"
"Hmm?"
"I just had a thought, I think we should go back to town in a few days, do you know the way?" Ant asked his friend ask he checked his iron sword to make sure it was still sharp.
"No," Sparklez said without hesitation.
"But you found this pyramid!"
"This pyramid emits an aura. It is ancient and strong, and even though the loot is long gone, the old magic users who created it must have left some traces behind." Sparklez said after thinking a minute.
"Then how are we going to get back?"
"We'll find a way." Sparklez responded, looking at his friend with tired blue eyes. He hadn't slept since the night Herobrine had possessed him, and it was starting to take a toll on him, even though demigods didn't sleep much anyway. But he had a job to do, he had to protect his brown-eyed human friend.
I would promise another chapter in two weeks but that's probably not going to happen unfortunately. So, until we meet again, dear readers, until we meet again.
