The only excuse I have to offer up is Netflix and Hulu.
"Hey Sparklez are you alright?" Ant asked his demigod friend. They had been practicing AntVenom's mental defense for the past week and Ant had noticed CaptainSparklez was acting a little listless.
"Hmm? Oh I haven't been sleeping much," the lie slipped out of the Nether Prince's mouth with ease. It was only a partial lie, he hadn't been sleeping at all. Sparklez feared that if he fell asleep then his body would be open to an invasion from Herobrine.
"Why not? Is there anything I can do to help?" Ant said with worried brown eyes.
"You don't need to worry about me missing a few nights rest here and there, as a demigod, I don't need much sleep anyway." Sparklez gave a small smile to reassure Ant. But that was also a lie. Demigods did need to sleep, and while it wasn't often, the lack of sleep was affecting Sparklez. As the Nether Prince, his demigod abilities were much more powerful in the Nether and he was much more human in the Overworld. CaptainSparklez hadn't slept the entire week and it was starting to take its toll on his mind.
AntVenom stared at Sparklez for a minute, then smiled back and grabbed a hoe from the temporary chest they shared in the pyramid that was their current home.
"I'm going to go check on our garden," he said as he walked out the pyramid, "although, calling it a garden is being generous."
The two heroes had killed a zombie a few nights back and the moaning monster had dropped a carrot. They had planted it and grown a few more from the seeds.
"Remember to replant them if anything is ripe." Sparklez called after his friend. Ant rolled his eyes and mumbled,
"I know what I'm doing, I've been doing this much longer than you have."
Sparklez raised an eyebrow as his sharp ears pick up his friend's retort but he didn't say anything.
He sighed and rubbed his tired eyes, but then he heard a chilling sound.
"Hello Sparklez," a soft lilting voice spoke into CaptainSparklez's ear. He stiffened and his eyes shot open in panic as he looked around for his father.
"It's been a while." Herobrine said, as he appeared out of thin air directly in front of Sparklez. The Nether Prince opened his mouth but the cruel god spoke first.
"Don't call out to your pet, he wouldn't see me. You're the only one that can. You always were special."
"So you're a hallucination?" Sparklez relaxed slightly at the idea. Herobrine just looked amused,
"And why would you think that?"
"You're dead. AntVenom killed you." Sparklez said as he looked at Herobrine's eyes, but the bright white light was as cold as it always was. His body did not seen fake or off in any way. Sparklez blinked and looked at his father's aura. It was as if someone had turned off the sun, his aura was a choking blackness that covered everything Sparklez could see. Only the two glowing white orbs that were his eyes shone through. It was so overwhelming that Sparklez immediately switched back to normal vision.
"Not all that are killed stay dead." Herobrine spoke as if he hadn't noticed what his son had done, but Sparklez knew he had. The cruel god let nothing pass by unnoticed. "You know that better than most. And I'm not talking about the afterlife."
"Are you referring to the end of our battle in the Nether? I was not dead, but close. Ant told me what happened."
"No," Herobrine said softly, he always spoke softly. It was he raised his voice that you knew to run. "Your spirit had moved on, only the blood of a god kept your body alive. My blood kept your body from dying. When your pet kissed you the blood sapped some of his strength, it gave you life."
"Why are you telling me this? You're not even real!" Sparklez was trying to keep the anger out of his voice.
"Such rudeness. It is unbefitting of a prince. Very well, I will leave. But be warned Sparklez, we will meet again." Herobrine smiled with perfect white teeth and disappeared. It was almost as if he was never there in the first place.
When AntVenom came back to that pyramid that night, he couldn't find CaptainSparklez. When he went into the main room, there was a note on the floor, and a compass. It was written in the Nether Prince's perfect flowing cursive.
Ant,
I'm sorry for leaving with such a short noticed but I have something I need to do. This compass will point the way back to town, go and have fun with GrailMore and SkyDoesMinecraft. I'm sure they miss you. I hope you enjoyed our time together for I do not know if we will meet again. Do not go looking for me, I will be fine. You are the best thing that ever happened to me and I thank you for that, do not ruin yourself in looking for me.
Farewell,
CaptainSparklez
"What? Is this a joke?" Ant furrowed his eyebrows in disbelief of what he had just read. "Haha, very funny Sparklez." He looked around as if expecting the demigod to jump out and laugh at him. But he was greeted by only silence.
Deep underground a little while earlier, a miner was hard at work collecting ore. He was wary of the bubbling lava nearby, knowing how deadly it was. He paused mid-swipe and turned quickly to look behind him. There was no one there. The miner relaxed and allowed himself a small smile of relief.
"Nothing there," he mumbled to himself. He quickly collected the last piece of iron ore and took out his clock to check the time. Night had just fallen and he would need to get back home quickly so as not to be overrun by monsters. After retracing his steps in the cave system, he found himself at the entrance of the cave. The man took out his compass and watched it find the direction of the village. The miner saw movement out of the corner of his eye, it was behind him in the cave He shoved the compass in his pocket and pulled out his sword.
"Who's there?!" He shouted.
Silence.
The man looked suspiciously at the darkness before sheathing his sword. He pulled out his compass and frowned at the device, the needle was spinning crazily around. He peered closer to it and heard something again. This time he knew it wasn't his imagination because he felt something pierce his chest and extreme pain blossomed out from the source. The man fell to his knees and looked down, he saw a sword poking out of his front. So this is it, this is how it ends. The pain was excruciating but the miner didn't scream out. It seemed so pointless now, and the pain was starting to fade anyway. He was tired, so very tired. All the man wanted to do was rest. His eyes soon became too heavy to lift and the last thing he saw a pair of glowing white orbs shining down at him. The man didn't think much of it, he just sank into the warm cradling arms of death.
So I'm probably going to be finishing this story sometime soon, maybe three or four chapters, maybe more. See you in two months...
