"Nnnn…"
White sat up slowly and let out a dazed yawn as she grasped her aching head with one hand. She found herself lying on a large pile of crunchy, yet soft, leaves in a dense forest. White would have panicked if it were not for the beauty of the place that she found herself in. Small, dull beams of light filtered through the branches and leaves of the staggeringly tall trees. She inhaled sharply the smell of decomposing leaves and let her fingers weave through her make-shift bed to touch the moist earth underneath. Looking up, White could barely see the sky, but she could make out that the sun had just begun to rise on a new day.
"Just how long was I knocked out?" White wondered aloud. She stretched her arms out and felt for Snivy's pokeball at her hip. She felt the smoothness of her black leather belt and the clip, but no pokeball. White mindlessly grasped her chest where the strap of her messenger bag usually crossed, but it just made her tug at her shirt. Fear began to set in.
"Hello?!" she yelled "Snivy? Anybody?"
"Snivy Sni!"
White spun around to see Snivy and Blitzle running over to her. Woobat was also flying with them, but he sped up and dive-bombed straight into White's arms as she smiled and laughed.
"I was so worried! It is so good to see you again, Woobat!"
Snuggles and hugs ensued. White still felt a little groggy, but she was happy to see Snivy, who was holding his pokeball, and her other two new friends safe and sound. The trio had just gone to fill up White's water canteen in a nearby stream. Blitzle also dragged White's messenger bag out from a hiding spot near some tree roots. White got up, dusted the bag off, and went straight for her xtranciever.
"Wow. We are so far away from the Wellspring cave," White said while looking at the map. They were not far from Nacrene at this point.
Snivy opened his mouth to say something to White but was playfully head-butted by Blitzle. He angrily turned around and shook his arm at her as if to say- "You better not do that again." Blitzle just teased him further by sending a small white jolt of electricity his way. Snivy began to chase her while she happily ran around trees in figure eights. White smiled while still holding Woobat.
"It's nice to see you three getting along and playing. Snivy usually hates to play with other pokemon," She said down to the fuzzy bat. Woobat chattered a little response and wiggled his big pink nose. Something occurred to White as she was holding Woobat. Her fingers slipped through his long, soft mint colored fur to feel a warm, soft skin underneath. She shifted Woobat to her hands and held him out to look at him properly.
"Hey…was it you that saved me when I collapsed?" She asked the tiny bat, "All I remember was something soft lifting me off the ground."
Woobat bashfully covered his little face with his leathery grey wings.
"Oh, wow! Thank you, buddy! But…there is no way it was just you, am I right? Were there others that helped, too?"
Woobat nodded happily.
"Oh. I would really like to thank any of the others that helped me. Do you think that would be possible?"
To answer her question, Woobat hopped out of her arms and into flight. As he flew above her head, he began to make a high-pitched noise that sounded like a "Wuu". White took out her pokedex and noted that it was one of Woobat's moves called "supersonic" but Woobat was using it in a different way. White realized that he was using supersonic to call upon his friends. He then hopped on the ground and let out a louder noise that echoed through the forest. Suddenly, dozens of branches shook, and leaves fell in a flurry as several creatures detached themselves from the trees and landed one by one around White. Some were woobats, large and tiny, and others were woobat's evolved form, swoobat. White's eyes widened as they surrounded her and chattered. Their clicky, echoing voices filled the forest with a sort of playful laughter. Blitzle and Snivy joined White's side as many other pokemon began to surface. The sound of scraping rock against dirt, the pounding of paws against moist earth, and the flittering of wings filled the forest as more and more pokemon continued to surround White. White waved her pokedex around to get a reading of all of them; Drillbur, Excadrill, Roggenrolla, Boldore, and Gigalith were the names that flashed along the screen rapidly. Pokemon of every shape and size had come. Some were old and some were young. Some were terribly powerful, and some were simply weak. White found herself in the middle of a community of pokemon that were all looking at her. White slunk to the ground in shock and Woobat hopped into her lap. He looked up at her with a big, goofy smile on his face.
"All of you helped me out?"
Most of them nodded or grunted in confirmation. White continued to look at them, and then she realized where they had all come from.
"You…you are all of the pokemon that lived in the Wellspring cave, am I right?"
Woobat nodded slowly and sadly. White had begun to piece everything together. She confirmed all of her questions by asking the pokemon or having them pantomime different things.
"So all of you fled to this forest after Team Plasma moved in and begun to work on their project. I understand how they kept you out, too. I felt it firsthand," she shuddered as she remembered the terrible, piercing screech that brought her to her knees and made her head throb. White stood up.
"There is one thing I don't understand though," she said aloud to the group as she squinted her eyes. She focused on some of the larger and more powerful pokemon.
"Some of you are just so incredibly powerful. I can tell not just from my pokedex; some of you just have a very, er, strong presence. It seems like you all could have easily swept them out before they even set up that terrible noise machine if you had all worked together. I mean, that's your home. This isn't. You all want to go back, don't you?"
Just the suggestion made some of them look a little moodier. Some of the Swoobats glared at one another. A large excadrill that was next to an even larger gigalith exchanged glances and looked away quickly, each with their own respective growl.
"Bliii," Blitzle said up to White sadly.
"What? Teamwork?" White asked as she tilted her head to see what Blitzle was trying to respond to. Blitzle shook its head.
"Home? Wait, this is your home, Blitzle?" Blitzle nodded to this, and then things made a little bit more sense. Woobat landed on Blitzle's back looking a little bummed out as well.
"This is where you two met…Team Plasma must have captured all of the blitzle and zebstrika from this forest, and then shooed all of the pokemon out of the Wellspring cave. This was the only place that they had to come to, so you two met here, and have been trying to find ways to get Team Plasma out ever since."
White was astonished, and pretty upset. She was astonished by Woobat and Blitzle's friendship, and she was certainly impressed by it. What upset White the most was not simply the issue with Team Plasma, but the lack of unity in these pokemon. They all lived in the same cave, but they were unwilling to work together to try to get their home back.
"Okay, everybody, listen up!" White shouted to all of the pokemon, commanding their attention. Her eyes swept across all of the pokemon before her. Each one would have an important part to play in her plan that she was devising. Not only was she interested in getting Team Plasma out of the cave and getting all of these pokemon back to their homes, but White was also interested to see exactly what Team Plasma was doing there in the first place.
"I'm going to help you get your home back, but there are two stipulations. One, you need to start getting along. The only way we are going to be successful is with teamwork. Two, I am going to need everyone to trust me. Without trust, this is all going to fall apart."
Most of the pokemon nodded in agreement.
"Well?! Let's go and get your home back, then!" White shouted while pumping her fist into the air. The rock types roared, the flying types cheered, and the ground types shouted in affirmation. White squatted to look at Snivy.
"I've got a special mission for you. Here's how it's going to go down…"

Blitzle trotted up to the guard as she did every day with a packaged granola bar in her mouth. She dropped it and looked up at the Plasma guard.
"Hmm, a little different than the usual, but thanks. You can go talk to your friends now," the guard said with a shrug while grabbing the offering. Before Blitzle could run over to the cage, guard suddenly said, "Wait!"
Blitzle stopped and looked up at the Plasma guard. The little black pokemon could feel her heart beating faster, but she faced the menacing human woman in the grey uniform nonetheless.
"You, uh, you happen to know who that chick was that beat me down yesterday? We all went out looking for her, but we couldn't find her."
Blitzle shook her head.
"Aww. Well, the next time we see her, she won't be getting away," the Plasma guard said with a huff while tucking some of her brunette hair behind her ear, "She broke our head scientist's nose so our research has come to a stop. It was pretty humiliating for him. Sage Gorm was so angry! He has everyone on the lookout for that girl."
Blitzle nodded, and started heading over to the cage. In the corner of her eye, she spotted green vines going from rock to rock, slowly climbing up the side of the mountain. Blitzle allowed herself to grin and walked up to the cage to let her herd know what was going on.
White was perched on a low branch of a tree on the edge of the clearing. She watched as Blitzle went to inform her friends about what was about to happen, and she also kept an eye on Snivy, who was carefully climbing up to the large dish that was on top of the mouth of the cave. The brain melting sound had certainly come from there. It would have been easy to send up a woobat to the dish, but one woobat alone could not take down the large dish and too many would be too conspicuous. White was convinced that one leaf tornado from Snivy would take care of everything, though.
"It's your turn Woobat. Keep her busy," White whispered to Woobat. He detached himself from the tree and went soaring over to the guard. While the guard was trying to shoo Woobat away, White slid down from the tree and looked at the group of the few Gigaliths and Excadrills that were with her. She nodded to them and they ran out into the wide clearing in front of the cave. The Plasma guard did a double take and her eyes widened when she saw the herd of huge pokemon, along with White, running straight at her. Before she could scream, Woobat dive-bombed her head, knocking her out cold. They came to a halt and White sighed in relief. They hadn't been noticed. Yet.
"Okay, I need the gigaliths and excadrills to get ready for a mass tackle attack; Boldurs and drillburs need to block the entrance to the cave. Keep watch, guys. There might be some of them out in the woods, too."
White walked up to the large, strange computer and shakily took a wire connected to her xtransciver out of her pocket. After a moment of searching the gigantic device, she found a port to plug into. She turned the screen on and it simply said "password?" with a bar underneath it.
White let out a "tsk" and sighed heavily. She ran her fingers over her lips thoughtfully as she wracked her brain for what they would use.
"err…Plasma?" she said as she typed in the word. "Access granted" flashed across the screen and White took a moment to roll her eyes at how conceited that was.
There were many files and folders but she only had a minute to decide which ones she was going to save to look at later. She began to save a few files called "mission statement" and another called "Plasma application" to her xtransciever. Just as she had started uploading another file called "SouthTKOVR", one of the drillburs grunted at her to signify someone was coming.
"Shit," White hissed and she quickly unplugged her device from the computer. She looked up and caught eye contact with her little lizard high above her head.
"Now, Snivy!" White shouted.
"Sniiiiivyyy!" he shouted as he spiraled into a tornado of razor sharp leaves and debris. The attack cut up the huge dish like butter and it began to spark as it collapsed to the side.
"Excadrill! Hone claws, and then slash that cage apart!" White commanded.
The mole-like pokemon rushed over to the cage. Their claws on their front paws began to shine as they powered them up. White stood back from the computer as she heard shouting from inside the cave. Blitzle joined White by her side, and Woobat flew down and perched itself on her shoulder as she continued to bark out commands.
"Next up, Gigalith and Boldurs…tackle attack the computer!"
The large rock pokemon took a few steps back before charging at the device with full force, smashing it into rubble until it looked like crumpled up tin foil.
"Woobats! Swoobats! It's your turn! Get into the cave and destroy those lights!"
White looked far into the cave just in time to smirk at several Team Plasma members and a few scientists, including a familiar face from yesterday with a huge wad of gauze taped to his nose, staring at her with complete shock. What looked like a cloud of bats swooped into the cave as White crossed her arms. She heard the cracking of plastic fixtures and the smashing of light bulbs as well as the screaming and hollering of confusion coming from everyone in the cave. White backed away to the side of the mouth of the cave.
"Okay, roggenrolas! Carry them out!"
What looked like a blanket of gravel made its way into the cave as the hollering continued. Moments later, several dozens of roggenrolas huddled together emerged with several people on their backs. They threw them off as White told the pokemon to shout at the Team Plasma members.
"Get out of here! And never come back!" White shouted as many of the members began to run away from the cave in fear of the crazed pokemon.
"Bliiii!" Blitzle shouted.
"Wuwuwuwu!" Woobat cheered.
"Everyone!" White commanded the group of pokemon, "Chase them outta here!"
The Woobats and Swoobats emerged from the cave and shot high into the sky to follow the screaming group of Team Plasma grunts and scientists. All of the angry roggenrolas, boldurs, gigaliths, drillburs, and excadrills chased after them in a roaring herd. Even the blitzle and zebstrika chased after their former captors.
White hardly had a moment to celebrate. Woobat shot off of her shoulder and deflected a stone thrown straight at White's head with its wing. White turned sharply to see the Plasma Guard and Scientist from the other day. Apparently, they had stuck around to pick a fight with her.
"You bitch!" the Plasma Guard screamed as she slung a pokeball out to reveal her purloin from the other day. It growled at White menacingly.
"Do you even know what you've just done?!" the scientist said as he threw a pokeball out as well. A strange flying pokemon White had never seen before emerged and slowly flapped it's long tendril-like wings. It had black prongs coming out from its body, a long colorful tail that matched its feathered wings, and a piercing ice blue eye jutting out from the top of its abdomen that felt as if it was peering into White's very soul. White's pokedex named it as a "Sigilyph", a dual psychic and flying type pokemon.
White nervously glanced up to see Snivy slowly trying to make its way down to her. She was then surprised to see Blitzle and Woobat both get into battle positions in front of her.
"You? You two want to fight them with me?" White said in disbelief.
Woobat made its normal chatter noise and Blitzle nodded seriously in agreement. White smiled and straightened her pink hat.
"Allright then, you two. Let's go!"
/chapter nineteen end/
eep! I hope you enjoyed this chapter! It was really long, but I wanted to wrap this part up quickly. I apologize if it seemed rushed. I almost called the chapter "Attack on Plasma" but that would have deviated from one one-liner titles a bit too much! haha
I'm really looking forward to the next chapter; some seriously exciting stuff is going to happen. Are you looking forward to it, too? I hope so!
