Official Disclaimer

The characters of Lieutenant Commander Steven 'Steve' McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua, Adam 'Toast' Charles, Governor Patricia Jameson and Detective Meka Hanamoa, do not belong to me in any shape or form. I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.

The character of Detective Sergeant Danielle 'Danni' Williams probably can be considered to be mine by now. Although she was originally based on male Danny, she soon evolved becoming her own person. She has her own background, her own family, her own history and her own distinct personality. This isn't to say that the Danny Williams we all know and love is completely gone, he still emerges through her at times. I like to think of female Danni as what Danny could have been if everything in his life had gone his way. As in full custody of Grace and a decent relationship with his ex.

The character of Grace has also changed slightly due to the change in Danni. Her surname is Taylor as this is her father's surname and was Danni's married name (Danni reverted back to her maiden name when she was divorced). Her parents also are amicable which has also impacted Grace but never fear, she's still the sweetheart we know and love, if anything she's more a sweetheart now.

The character of Supervisory Special Agent Jack O'Connor, Detective Abraham Lee. Doctor Rosie Lange, Kent Deacon, Ross Hall, Sasha Hall, Nicole Hall, Brent Cox and Special Agent Walker Humphries however do belong to me as does any other character who you do not recognise from the show. Please do not use them, or my version of Danni and Grace without first asking for my permission to do so.

Overall Summary

Fire, fire burning bright, which member of Five-O will you try to claim tonight… When Five-O are tasked with hunting down an arsonist who has graduated to murder, they didn't expect themselves to become potential targets. Now it's a race against time to find the murdered before it's too late.

Chapter Summary

He always liked heading back to the scene of his latest crime just to see what the results were. It was a dangerous habit he knew; he has seen enough crime shows on the TV to know that the investigators always checked the faces in the crowd, but the results outweighed the risks in his mind. He was a perfectionist when it came to his work but he was adaptable as well. He knew that there were always little ways which he could learn to improve his methods and the way he chose to do things.

He always liked heading back to the scene of his latest crime just to see what the results were. It was a dangerous habit he knew; he had seen enough crime shows on the TV to know that the investigators always checked the faces in the crowd, but the results outweighed the risks in his mind. He was a perfectionist when it came to his work but he was adaptable as well. He knew that there were always little ways which he could learn to improve his methods and the way he chose to do things.

Sometimes the information came from the unlikeliest sources, a partial overheard conversation between a CSU agent and their superior informing them of something, a whispered talk between two of the officers on guard.

It all added up and it all helped him.

He would know for the next time where he had gone wrong and he could simply change his method until the presentation of it all was finally flawless.

There was always a crowd outside after the fire was out, nosy neighbours who couldn't resist coming to gawp and speculate why their neighbours had been targeted and were dead. It was easy enough to slip into their numbers and make his way near to the front, he always made sure that he was never fully at the front and that there was at least a line of others in front of him making it easier to hide his face. A few remarks to the people surrounding him about how terrible things were, always eased any suspicions they may have had about a stranger in the mix. To them, he simply became just another one of them, never dreaming that the cause of the commotion in front of them was beside them.

He was beginning to be able to recognise the firefighters who were often on duty when he set his blazes and of course he knew who Detective Lee was, he had done his research on the man as soon as he realised that Lee had already picked up on his signature and was actively looking for him though of course he had no real idea who he was looking for. The man was someone who he found himself admiring, the only one in HPD who recognised his work when no one else had. He always made sure that the Detective was a step behind him but it never failed to him a surge of pleasure when he saw the tall man, standing in the scene, looking at his work.

A frown came to his face when he saw that Detective Lee was talking to two people, two people who he didn't recognise from any of the other scenes. One was a tall, white male with short blond hair while the second was an attractive woman who was slightly above average height, she looked as though she was a native with shoulder length brown hair.

They were huddled together, whispering over something, he strained forward slightly to see whether he could hear what they were saying but they were speaking too quietly for him to hear anything. For a moment he was tempted to try and get closer, hating the fact that they were clearly discussing him and yet he couldn't risk it. Soon, one of the would start taking photographs of the crowd to see if anyone stood out or was showing too much interest in what was going on. At that stage he either needed to make sure he was hidden behind someone or better yet that he was gone from the scene altogether.

He tilted his head to the side as the blond man clapped his hand on the younger woman's shoulder before he moved away from them, pulling out a cell phone from his pocket and swiping his thumb over it. He watched as the man fiddled with it for a moment before he brought it to his ear, waiting for a second before he began talking into it, his voice again being too low for him to catch anything.

He turned his attention back to the woman standing next to Detective Lee, watching her intently for a moment before he suddenly smirked, standing slightly straighter.

He had heard the talk of the Governor setting up an elite taskforce on the island who was meant to take point on the hardest, most difficult cases which arose. There wasn't much detail on them or the members yet but he knew from listening that the man in charge of the taskforce was a Commander in the Navy who had made a Homicide Detective from HPD his partner, a female Homicide Detective at that. The team had been functioning for ten days as far as he knew but if the talk, he had been overhearing from both the cops and the criminal elements was anything to go by then they had already proven in that short time frame that they were a team who was worth watching.

He felt flattered that Detective Lee had thought he was skilled enough and important enough to bring in the new team to work on his case or at least he thought they were the new task force.

His gaze flickered back to the blond man, looking at him with renewed interest, there was no doubt that the man was law enforcement though he suspected he wasn't a cop. It was clear from the way he held himself that he had some sort of advanced training in his past. Most people, he observed would move around, a hand wave here, a side step there but not the blond man who simply remained still. Perhaps the training was military based but there wasn't enough to mistake him for the Commander leading the team. It was the same with the woman, who was clearly new, merely a Rookie, there was no way she was a Detective nor could she be mistaken for one, she was lacking a certain gloss which he would expect and yet there was no doubt that the two of them worked together.

A movement from the direction of the ruined house caught his eyes and he turned towards it, his mouth curling upwards into a smile as his eyes focused on the two people walking out.

There they were.

The tall, dark haired male who was followed out of the house by a small, younger blonde woman.

They were the Commander and his Detective; he would stake his life on it which meant that he had been right and his genius had finally been given the recognition it deserved and had been pushed up the food chain. It was now them and the team they ran who he needed to watch and learn about.

He ducked his head when the Commander's eyes swept over the gathered crowd from where he stood next to his partner who was in the process of speaking to someone from the CSU team. He watched, noticing the protective stance that the Commander had adopted towards the small blonde, he could see from the way the Commander stood in the Detective's personal space, his arms crossed as he continued to look around clearly waiting for her to finish her talk that there something there between them. To anyone else who might have been watching it would have just seemed natural, one partner merely waiting for the other one to finish what they were doing but he prided himself on being able to read people, even people who he had never interacted with before. The Commander was standing close enough that if anything happened then he would be able to cover the Detective with his own body to protect her from any harm.

It was an interesting fact to know especially if the Commander was unaware, he had already slipped into that mentality regarding her.

He turned his attention to the Detective and observed her as closely as he dared. She was very pretty, perhaps could even be considered beautiful in some people's eyes and dressed in a black skirt and vest top combo which looked almost of place considering the state of the crime scene. The clothes didn't mask who she was though, she had the gloss which the other woman from earlier had been sorely lacking. Something about her screamed that she was born to be doing the job she was in. It could easily have been that the feminine clothing was merely some sort of defensive armour she wore to place people at ease. He found his interest growing, a sudden desire to find a way to speak to them rushing over him so he could get a better read of them.

His smile faded when the Detective turned away from the person and reached into the shoulder bag she was holding and pulled out what looked to be a high tech camera from within, calling the younger woman over to her and saying something to her with a smile as she held the camera out to her. He saw the brunette nod and take it from her.

It was time for him to go.

He took another brief second to look at the four of them, scanning their faces and committing them to memory before he turned and headed through the crowds and down the street to where he has parked his truck just as the girl brought the camera up to her eye and began snapping photos of the crowd.

It shouldn't be difficult for him to find out information about them.

The only question was what he did once he was that information. After all information was power and he was determined not to be caught.

He would do anything not to be caught.
