Official Disclaimer
The characters of Lieutenant Commander Steven 'Steve' McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua, Adam 'Toast' Charles, Governor Patricia Jameson and Detective Meka Hanamoa, do not belong to me in any shape or form. I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.
The character of Detective Sergeant Danielle 'Danni' Williams probably can be considered to be mine by now. Although she was originally based on male Danny, she soon evolved becoming her own person. She has her own background, her own family, her own history and her own distinct personality. This isn't to say that the Danny Williams we all know and love is completely gone, he still emerges through her at times. I like to think of female Danni as what Danny could have been if everything in his life had gone his way. As in full custody of Grace and a decent relationship with his ex.
The character of Grace has also changed slightly due to the change in Danni. Her surname is Taylor as this is her father's surname and was Danni's married name (Danni reverted back to her maiden name when she was divorced). Her parents also are amicable which has also impacted Grace but never fear, she's still the sweetheart we know and love, if anything she's more a sweetheart now.
The character of Supervisory Special Agent Jack O'Connor, Detective Abraham Lee. Martin Chen. Rita Chen, Doctor Rosie Lange, Kent Deacon, Ross Hall, Sasha Hall, Nicole Hall, Brent Cox, Sally Webster and Special Agent Walker Humphries however do belong to me as does any other character who you do not recognise from the show. Please do not use them, or my version of Danni and Grace without first asking for my permission to do so.

Chapter Summary
For a moment Steve stood frozen at the computer table, his gaze fixed on the signature signed clearly at the bottom of the enlarged bail papers displayed on the large plasma screen. A very clear signature which made it impossible not to identify who it belonged to. According to the paperwork in front of him it was Detective Lee who accepted the bail payment and allowed Martin and Rita Chen to leave the holding cell.

Steve McGarrett's Point of View
For a moment Steve stood frozen at the computer table, his gaze fixed on the signature signed clearly at the bottom of the enlarged bail papers displayed on the large plasma screen. A very clear signature which made it impossible not to identify who it belonged to. According to the paperwork in front of him it was Detective Lee who accepted the bail payment and allowed Martin and Rita Chen to leave the holding cell.
The question was why he had done it and if it hadn't of been him who signed it then who the hell was going around impersonating cops well enough that no one at the court even batted an eyelid at it?
He toyed briefly with the idea that Detective Lee was in on it as an accomplice or that perhaps he was the actual Arsonist himself but he quickly dismissed the thought from his mind as unlikely. He hadn't gotten that impression from the other man when he had met him the previous day and perhaps more importantly to him, Danni hadn't picked up on anything either and he already trusted her ability when it came to reading people. Not only that, but she had spent time alone with the other man the previous day, if there had been something even slightly suspicious about him then he had no doubt that she would have picked up on it almost instantly.
Then there was the fact that it had been Detective Lee who had flagged the case up to their team and had contacted Danni directly on her cell phone to push the case to the top of the pile. If he was involved in some fashion then the sensible thing would have been for him to carry on exactly as he had been doing, keeping quiet about his lack of progress and hope that his reputation through the force as a competent Detective would be enough to stop anyone from digging into the cases. It was more likely, based on all that, that the Arsonist knew about Detective Lee and the progress he was making in linking the cases together and was trying to derail his progress by trying to implicate him as a suspect.
Something which indicated to Steve that whoever they were dealing with had some idea and knowledge about how law enforcement worked.
He shook his head and turned his attention on his partner and spoke.
"Any thoughts about this Danno." He questioned her, watching as Danni reached up and pulled absently on her lower lip, A frown coming to her face as her eyes skirted the paperwork again.
"My first thought is that none of this makes sense, something is off." She murmured quietly as though she was talking to herself rather than answering his question, making him wonder briefly if she had even heard his question.
"Danni, have you got something that you want to share with the rest of the class about this?" Steve pressed, resisting the urge with difficulty to reach out and touch her bare upper arm to attract her attention, noting almost absently the red skirt with it design of white dots which she had teamed up with a white vest top adorned with three buttons on the front. He growled silently to himself, shaking his head wondering when the hell he had began to pay attention to clothing.
She nodded slowly at him before she turned and focused her attention onto Chin who clearly noticed and shot her a questioning look as a result.
"Chin, do you notice anything which is missing on this form?" She asked him before she looked back at Steve as she continued speaking. "When you're a cop and you have to do something like this then there are certain details that you have to provide on the form to ensure that it is legitimate, something more than just a signature which can be forged by anyone at the end of the day." She explained to him.
"Lee's badge number." Chin announced, leaning forward and resting the palm of his hand on the surface of the computer table, his head tilted to one side so he could look directly at Danni. "It's missing from the form."
"It is missing." Danni confirmed with a nod before turning back to the others, her grey eyes flittering between them all as she spoke. "As well as a signature to the form you have to provide certain information so they can contact you in case something goes wrong. So being able to tell them your department, your precinct and your badge number is an absolute must so they can find you on the internal system. Whoever signed this form provided the name of the department and precinct without any issues but they've missed off the badge number."
"And the badge number is the most important thing?" Steve asked her, raising an eyebrow at her when she simply nodded at him.
"And the signature but like I said that can be forged which is why you need all of them. It's a bit of a flawed system really because finding out the answer to the first two points is easy to do. All you need is a phone, then you can call up and ask to speak to the Detective in question and ask what department they are currently in. By that stage you've already found the precinct because you just called them but finding the actual badge number is a great deal harder." She stated knowingly.
"Getting it is more luck then anything else." Chin stated, taking over from Danni who merely nodded her agreement. "Because it's not something we normally shout about or share with just anyone so you would have to be in the right place at the right time to overhear it."
"What kind of situations?" Jack queried as he crossed his arms with a thoughtful frown.
"You're talking about when an Officer or Detective is calling in back up on the radio or signing something into evidence which for the record can only be done at the station, the Medical Examiner Office or CSU. The thing is your badge number is literally the first thing you learn on day one of being a cop and because you say it so often and sign it on paperwork so often it becomes engrained into your head like a pin number. Detective Lee has been on the force for what? Ten years maybe longer, there is no way that he would have forgotten to add it onto the paperwork if he was the one who signed the Chens out of custody." Danni stated with a swipe of her hand.
"So, what are you saying Danni? Are you saying that the courts are involved somehow?" Steve questioned with a frown.
"No, I don't think this goes that high, if this was the last case of the day then its more likely that whoever was on duty simply didn't check to see that all the factors had been included, maybe they saw a badge, glanced at the name and simply let it go."
"Say for a second that this was Detective Lee after all and that he was involved with this Arsonist somehow. Why would be bring us the case in the first place?" Steve pressed, his eyes narrowing when Danni shrugged before bringing her hand up to her neck and rubbing it as she spoke.
"I don't know Steve because it doesn't make sense, as far as I can see no one in the precinct was questioning him about his methods or looking into any of the outstanding cases or even the closed ones so there wouldn't have been any pressure from that angle on him. I spent at least an hour reading through the files which he had made up yesterday and there was absolutely nothing which stood out as a warning sign to me." Danni told him.
"For the sake of playing Devil's advocate, maybe it's about the thrill of it for him rather then it making sense?" Jack suggested with a thoughtful frown as he crossed his arms again, tapping his fingertips against his forearm as he looked around him. "Perhaps the fact that there was no one who was picking up on what he was doing or the connection between all the cases, pissed him off enough that he decided to take a bigger risk then he normally would have. The bigger the risk, the bigger the excitement level after all. HPD know who and what we are now right? I'm guessing the Captains of each unit have informed their staff about us so what is a bigger thrill then getting something like this past the elite taskforce on the island? Maybe it's a new way of getting a thrill since he's right here with us, in the eye of the storm being able to see exactly what we do." He pointed out with a shrug as he looked around them all. "Not that I think that is what this is but it's still an option."
Steve nodded slowly, appreciating Jack's comment before he looked between Chin who was staring at Jack with a thoughtful look as though he was considering the scenario the other man placed forward for them. He looked towards Steve as though feeling his eyes on him and shot him a questioning look.
"Anything you want to add Chin?" Steve queried
"It's definitely a valid theory" Chin told him. "And lets me honest, it wouldn't exactly be the first time that something like that has happened but, in this case, I'm veering more towards Danni's way of thinking. It doesn't make sense especially with the forgotten badge number. If Lee was that good then he wouldn't have made a simple mistake like that which is something any cop with experience would have notice. There's the fact as well that the man is a good cop, even I've heard about his reputation and I was away from the force for fifteen years."
"That's true, everyone I know who has worked or met with him has said how good he is at his job, he's concise, he's focused and he tends to be able to spot things which other people don't. Lee is the sort of Detective you want working a case if you're a Captain or another Detective because you can just leave them alone and trust them to get on with whatever they are meant to do." Danni remarked with a nod at Chin before her eyes flickered back to Steve when he spoke up.
"So, he's the male version of you as a Detective then Danni?" Steve asked, noting the smile which came to her mouth though she remained silent, looking back at Chin when the older man began speaking.
"We've already established the fact that the Arsonist seems to stalk his victims for a period of time before he kills them, the only thing we don't know for sure is how long this period of stalking actually goes on for. If he is stalking his victims then it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for him to stalk the lead Detective in charge of the case, especially when that Lead Detective is clearly intent on stopping him or her. Lee has been at every crime scene, running them, so it wouldn't take a mastermind to spot him and make the link." He pointed out.
"I'm inclined to agree with you and Danni." Steve said slowly. "But O'Connor was right to throw that theory in as well which we can't completed overlook. Sometimes a Cop can make the best villain's because they know exactly how to act and how to work the system to make sure they are never caught or even suspected of a crime. What we need to do is speak to Lee face to face to see how he acts." He stated firmly, his eyes focusing on Jack. "O'Connor, I want you to have a look and tell me what you can find out about Lee, Danni mentioned he came to the island a while ago but where was he before? Is he married or in a relationship with someone? Does he have any kids? He may not be a willing participant in this and is being forced into it due to a love one being in danger. If he does have a family then I want to know their locations and to make sure that all of them are accounted for."
"That won't be difficult to get that information, give me ten minutes and I should get you everything which you need to know." Jack assured him as he focused back on the laptop which he was clearly working from that day.
"Chin I want…" Steve began to say, his words coming to an abrupt end when he was interrupted by a voice which came from the direction of the door.
"Hey, sorry I'm sort of late though I guess I'm not actually really late because we have until nine to get here right and since it's not nine then I guess I'm actually early which is always a good thing. Anyway, Jack said over the phone that there was some sort of emergency and it was all hands-on deck and we needed to be here like yesterday so here I am reporting in for duty. Where do you need me to do Boss man? Blondie?"
Steve blinked, his gaze coming up to Danni who was trying to hide a smile as she met his eyes. He sighed, turning to look back over his shoulder as Toast moved towards them, holding two coffees, one in each hand and grinned at them. He was dressed in a pair of jeans and a worn t-shirt with a faded picture on it, his dark hair stuck up on end as though he hadn't bothered to brush it earlier.
"Forget about that Toast, I need you to log onto the system and use Detective Lee's cell phone to find his location right now." Steve told the younger man, raising an eyebrow at him when Toast stopped in his tracks and shot him a confused look.
"You want to know where Detective Lee is?" Toast repeated, frowning slightly when Steve nodded once at him. "Well I don't need to log onto the database to tell you that boss, Detective Lee was entering the building when I was coming up here. He's holding onto a bunch of files which I'm assuming is something to do with the case and he plans on handing them over to Blondie to work her magic on." He remarked, jerking his thumb over his shoulder towards the door he had just come through as though to indicate where he meant.
"Detective Lee is already in the building." Steve repeated, glancing towards Danni who shot him a thoughtful look though he could detect the glimmer of surprise beneath it which told him that she hadn't expected Lee or the files which were apparently for her.
"Well yeah that's what I saw, unless of course Detective Lee happens to have an identical twin brother who also has a badge and has a reason for coming here today with files." Toast answered as he headed past them to where Jack was already hard at work. Steve rolled his eyes at the comment, pinching the bridge of his nose for a second before he focused his attention back on Chin who was watching him with an amused look on his face.
"Chin I want you and Toast to get those surveillance videos from the store if they haven't email them over to us already. I want to see if we can find out who bought those burner phones used to contact Rita Chen."
"We're on it," Chin assured him with a single nod before he turned his attention to Toast who was currently talking to Jack in a hushed voice. Whatever he was saying had Jack's full attention if the way he was tilting his head towards Toast was any indication to go by, both of them glancing at Chin when the older man raised his voice slightly "Toast, log on and check the email account we gave to Mr Yukimaro yesterday to see whether he's sent us the surveillance videos from his store that we requested. Kono got us the warrant and served it so we should do."
"Sure, I'll get onto that now Chin." Toast said with a nod at the native before he shot Jack a quick sideways glance with the blond ignored.
Steve watched the interaction between the two of them carefully, looking to his right when he felt a soft touch on his forearm, his eyes landing on Danni.
"How do you want to handle this situation with Lee then? Should I take the lead with the interview or do you want to?" She asked him as she withdrew her hand, letting it fall to her side instead as she shot him a questioning look. For a moment Steve considered letting Danni take the lead in the interview but he quickly pushed the thought away. Regardless of the fact that he wasn't a cop, he was still the one who was officially in charge to the taskforce and it was something which he had to make clear to everyone in the force and the various Agencies on the island that any decision to do with his taskforce was ultimately made by him.
"I'll take the lead with this interview Danno." He answered her, watching her face carefully. He caught the flash of irritation which came to her grey eyes and hid, with difficulty, the smile which threatened to come to his face, knowing that the irritation wasn't due to the fact that he was taking the lead but more due to his continual insistence to drop the nickname Danno into their various conversations with one another. He knew from what she had said previously that she had no idea why he had latched onto the nickname and continued to call her by it but he wasn't quite ready to explain to her why he did, not when he found it amusing to him to see her normal serene façade ruffled by something so simple.
"That's fine with me but can I give you some advice before he gets here?" She asked him, tilting her head slightly to the side, a smile coming to her face when he nodded at her.
"Go ahead." He replied, following her in the direction of the nearest window so they were out of range of anyone trying to overhear them. He leaned towards her when she began to speak, keeping her voice low.
"I would suggest giving the situation that you interview Lee in your office rather then bringing him down to the interrogation rooms to speak to him. There is still a good chance that Abe has nothing to do with this and the last thing we want is to cause any bad feelings between us and him or us and HPD if it reaches them, not when we're still so new. HPD already resent us so let's not give them anymore reason to make that feeling worse. If we manage this situation with Lee well then, we might actually be able to gain a few brownie points with them. Not to mention the fact that having a Detective like Lee on our side will benefit us and give us another Detective in HPD, other than Meka, who we could perhaps turn to if we need any additional help or backup. We need to build connections like this Steve, we're lucky that we already have CSU and the ME office on side, now we just need to work on doing the same with HPD. You understand, that right?" She asked him, meeting his eyes directly in a way that few people ever did.
"I understand Danni but all of this is based on the fact that Lee isn't involved in this and has been framed for it, we still have to acknowledge the fact that he might be involved." Steve pointed out, watching as she bit on her lower lip before looking away from him for a moment before she sighed and looked back at him.
"I know but I just don't see it Steve. I spent time with him yesterday and he genuinely seems intent on solving this case once and for all so he can move past it, I think its been haunting him for the past four months. If he was involved in it then he would be making suggestions which were designed to throw us off the scent, not making suggestions and pointing things out which seems to be bringing us closer to finding the suspect." She pointed out to him, her hand twitching at her side making him briefly wonder whether she was fighting the urge to grip her neck.
Steve was saved from having to answer her when the main door leading into the room opened and Detective Lee walked in, followed closely by Kono who looked as though she had managed to catch some early morning waves if her still wet hair was any indication. He watched as Kono glanced over to them, her mouth opened as though she was going to say something to them when she stopped and directed her attention elsewhere instead, clearly reading something in their body languages or faces which told her to say away from them for the time being. He saw from the corner of his eyes that she headed directly over to where Chin and Jack were standing before he turned his attention to Lee as the man approached them, holding a stack of files in his hand, his dark eyes flickering over to Steve before he focused his attention on Danni who shot the man a smile, though Steve noted that her eyes remained thoughtful.
"Good morning, I looked through a few more cold cases last night Danni and these are the ones which could be linked to the Motive you spoke about yesterday, they aren't necessarily fire related but each victim had been drugged so they couldn't move before they were killed." He stated, lifting the files in his arms as though to back up his point.
"Great, that's good thinking, thank you for doing that." Danni replied
"It's no problem at all, where do you want me to put them for you?" He asked her with a quick glance around the room.
"Could you put them in Danni's office for now Detective and then meet me in my office afterwards? There's something which we need to run by you in private." Steve said, answering for his partner.
Lee's eyes moved to Steve's with a surprise look before he nodded at him.
"Yeah, that's fine with me, which one is your office again?" He asked Danni who lifted her hand and pointed in the direction of the office in question.
"Let's get this done Danni." Steve murmured quietly, reaching out and placing his hand on Danni's back, using the touch to guide her to his office.
"Boss man, before you disappear." Toast called out to him as they walked by him, his gaze coming up from the computer he had been working on. "I've checked the emails and it looks like the footage we wanted hasn't been received yet." He told them as he shifted on the spot.
"You and Chin will have to head over there and pick them up or failing that at least view them over there." Steve responded, taking a step towards his office again before he stopped realising that Danni wasn't moving with him. He glanced back to see Danni give Toast a reassuring look before she spoke, a soft, almost gentle tone to her voice.
"You've got nothing to worry about Toast, Chin is going to be there with the whole time and he's going to have your back. You couldn't be in better hands. Just head to the shop, get what you need to get done finished and then you'll be back here." She told him with a wink which brought a smile to Toast's face as he nodded at her, the tension which Steve could now see in the younger man dispersing.
"I can manage that." He stated with a nod.
"Good to know, fill Chin in on what has happened and follow his instructions." Steve said, pushing Danni forward again and remaining quiet until they were in his office and the door was closed before he spoke again. "What was that with Toast out there? Is there something I should know"?
"He suffers from anxiety attacks" She said briefly before glancing over her shoulder when there was a knock on the door. "I'll tell you more later once the case is over with." She promised.
"Good" He replied before he lifted his hand and waved Detective Lee into the room. "Could you close the door behind you." He sat on the edge of his desk, aware of Danni crossing the room and taking a seat on the sofa, her hand automatically smoothing over her skirt before she dropped her hands into her lap, her eyes focused on Lee no doubt to take in his reactions.
"You said you wanted to talk; have we've had a breakthrough with the case?" Detective Lee questioned as he followed Steve's instructions before moving more into the room, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his black slacks.
"Not so much since Martin and Rita Chen were both bailed out of police custody last night." Steve told him, noting the look of shock which came to the Detective face which was swiftly followed by anger.
"How the hell did that happen? They shouldn't have even been seen by a Judge until at least this morning and that would be pushing it, them getting out is bullshit, have we any idea where they have gone or anything?" He demanded as he reached up and ran a hand over his dark hair.
Steve glanced towards Danni who was still watching Lee though Steve could see that any tension she had was gone, she looked towards him and gave him a slight smile followed by a nod.
"We think you might be able to help us with that." Steve said, pushing himself into a standing position as he moved over to the door and opened it, looking out into the main room before his eyes landed on Jack who was hard at work on something. "O'Connor" He called up, continuing when the other man looked up at the sound of his voice. "Have you got a copy of the bail papers?"
"Yeah I just printed it out for you, I figured you may need them." Jack answered, moving over to the nearby printer and picking up the papers from them. He flicked through them for a moment, placing two sheets back before he turned and headed over to Steve, passing them over to him. Steve took them with a nod before he pulled back and closed the door again, holding the papers to Lee who took them, his eyes already scanning them.
"What am I lo…" his voice stopped abruptly as his eyes landed on the signature. For a moment he remained still before he looked up at Steve with a look of disbelief and anger covering his face. "I didn't sign this" He stated fiercely, the papers scrunching up in his hands.
"No?" Steve remarked, crossing his arms over his chest. "According to the time listed, this was signed just after seven o clock yesterday evening, where were you at that time?
"Yesterday at seven in the evening." Lee repeated, running his hand over his hair again. "Yesterday evening at seven I was having dinner with my son and daughter at the Rainbow Lanai."
"How long were you there for?" Steve asked.
"We were there for about an hour and a half, I have to have them both back at their mothers by nine. We arrived at the place about quarter to seven and left about eight fifteen, my daughter is only four and she's a slow eater so we had to wait for her to finish." He answered.
"I see" Steve said with a slow nod, his eyes flickering over to Danni, she met his gaze and returned the nod, coming up to her feet and headed out the office without a word, ignoring the look which Lee shot her.
Steve resisted the urge to smile, after only eleven days Danni already knew exactly what he needed her to do with merely a look.
He looked back at Lee in a considering manner, safe in the knowledge that Danni would take care of checking out Lee's alibi.
"I didn't do this." Lee stated again, looking back at Steve with a fierce look. "I want to find the son of a bitch who has been doing it, I don't want to help him in any fashion. The Chens was the first break in the case, there is no way that I would have released either of them or helped them."
"Take a seat." Steve said, waving a hand towards the chair on the opposite side of his desk as he lowered himself into his own. "It will only take a few moments to check your alibi to see if you were where you say you were."
"A few moments? I know that you said that Five-O had no barriers but I would have thought that you would still have needed to go through the proper channels and get a warrant to be able to view the CTV that the place had which will take hours which is exactly what the guy is probably hoping, that you'll waste time checking me out instead of hunting him down." Lee said with a shake of his head.
Steve remained silent, merely watching him closely. He seemed pissed off with the situation but that reaction wasn't unusual given the circumstances. Only a few minutes had passed when the door opened and Danni stepped back in, closing the door behind her before she spoke.
"I had Jack look up the information since Chin and Toast have already left and he confirmed that Lee's alibi holds up. He was at the Rainbow Lanai from Seven twelve until eight sixteen. The Chen's bail was signed at Seven twenty-one so it isn't possible for it to be Abe who signed them out of custody." She explained to Steve as she walked around the desk and perched herself on the arm of Steve's chair. "Abe, have you noticed anything suspicious recently? Maybe a feeling of being watched when you're out and about or a face in the crowd which keeps on appearing?" She asked him, reaching up and hooking a single wave of hair behind her ear where it had escaped from her hairstyle.
"Wait, do you think that the Arsonist is stalking me? Is that why you're asking me?" Lee questioned, his eyes flickering between the two of them. Steve nodded at him.
"We know that he has a tendency of stalking his victims so it would make sense that he would take the time to learn about you and stalk you as well." He pointed out
"Why would he stalk me?" Lee countered.
"People like this often want recognition." Danni said "And so far, you're the only one he can see who has been able to see his pattern and what he is doing. You've brought attention to it which make you, in his eyes, almost like a kindred spirit, maybe in some mess up way he thinks that you're helping spread his message."
"So, if he's been watching me then he's going to know about my kids." Lee said, coming to his feet. "I've got to call my ex and warn her."
"You can call her." Steve agreed with a nod. "But so far the Arsonist or at least someone who might be linked to him is only focusing on you. You're the one he is interested in."
"He feels a connection to you, has he ever tried to contact you directly? Perhaps a phone call or maybe an email, anything at all that struck you as unusual?" Danni asked him. Lee frowned, his eyes moving rapidly from side to side before he shook his head, letting out an annoyed sounding huff.
"I can't think of anything off hand, if there had been something then I would have looked into it." He told them, throwing his hands up before slapping them back down onto his thighs.
"What about any helpful citizens? Has anyone rang in more than once with some helpful tips for you which has actually led to something you can use?" Danni pressed softly.
Lee looked up suddenly at her, his eyes widening as he nodded slowly.
"You know now that you say that there was one guy who I remember, he contacted me within hours of me arriving at one of the scenes with some tip about something which he had seen. It was never a detailed tip though so it didn't arouse my suspicions initially until the third time it happened. I recognised the voice from the other calls so I got copies of them and sent them off to CSU for a comparison to see if it was the same guy and whether they could get anything from them, maybe a noise in the background." Lee commented with a thoughtful frown.
"I'm guessing that you've already tried to trace the number the call initiated from?" Steve queried.
"Yeah it was the first thing which I did when I realised the connection but the number came back to a burn phone and we all know how easy it is to buy one of them," Lee said with a shrug.
"A burn phone?" Danni repeated thoughtfully as she came to her feet. "Abe, do you still have the details for that phone?" She asked him, a smile coming to her face when he nodded at her.
"Danni?" Steve said, meeting her eyes when she looked back over her shoulder at him. "What's on your mind?"
"It's a long shot but I'm wondering whether it's the same guy who has been buying up these burn phones. Jack can trace back to when the first number was activated. If we know that, then we can have Chin and Toast focus on those days while they look at the surveillance to see who bought them and how many they bought. I doubt this concerned citizen is actually a concerned citizen, it's more likely that it's the Arsonist trying to insert himself into the investigation to show everyone involved just how much smarter he is then everyone else. The fact that he's doing that helps to prove our theory that he does return to the scenes of the crime otherwise how would he know that Lee is there and that Lee has missed something?" Danni said, a thoughtful tone to her voice.
"That's a good idea" Steve said before he turned back to Lee. "Have you still got a record on when those calls came into you?" He asked the Detective who nodded at him, his eyes flickering between the two of them.
"I've got the details back at my desk in HPD, the tapes are still with CSU though, there's a back log there at the moment from what I gather so it will be at least a week before the comparison between them can be conducted and longer than that before the report comes in." He informed them.
Steve nodded at him before he turned back to Danni who was still standing and watching him.
"Danno, it's time for you to use all those connections that you've been cultivating since you arrived in HPD. Get in contact with whoever it is over there who is responsible for voice comparisons and ask them to bump the work to the top of the pile, we need to get those results as soon as we can."
"I'll see what I can do." She told him, turning and heading towards the door. She had just managed to walk three steps towards the door when it suddenly opened revealing Kono who looked around them before she spoke, a note of clear concern in her voice.
"We've got a problem guys."
