I would so love to own Jack Sparrow. Unfortunately, as with Hetalia, I do not.

"Lukas Bondevik. So long it's been!"

That was all the Norwegian heard before he was embraced in a strong hug, the scent of maple invading his senses.

"Put him down, Birdie," an accented voice reprimanded playfully. "Matthias! Man, it's been too long. How are you, kid?"

As he was released, Lukas got a glimpse of Matthias and Gilbert hugging each other lightly and clapping each other on the back in a manly sort of way, and wondered why it had to be him who was attack-hugged by the crazy Canadian. "Hey, Matthew..."

"I missed you so much! I can't believe it's been four years! Emails and the occasional glimpse of you on the sports channel just aren't enough! Seriously! It's been too long!Too long!" Matthew spoke with his hands as well as his voice, emphasising his words with gestures. It had been so long, Lukas realised, that he had almost forgotten this strange little fact. In any case, it was indeed good to see his friends again.

"It's good to see you, too, Matthew. And you, Gilbert. It had, indeed, been too long. Congratulations on making that team, by the way, Matthew. And Gilbert, you teach the flute now?"

"Ja, my awesomeness is helping little people improve their awesomeness, how awesome is that?! And I've taken up the saxophone, as well!"

Lukas smiled at his friend's antics. "Very awesome."

"But why are we talking about us?! You two dark horses, you should have told us sooner! Seriously, we hear that Emil has moved out, so you two are on your own, and a few weeks later, we get a wedding invitation! A couple of months, and here we are! No explanation at all! So spill!" Matthew said excitedly.

"Well," Matthias began, "it was only a few days after Emil moved in with Leon, to be honest - the house to ourselves, you know-"

"Enough, Matthias, they don't need to know that much," Lukas said, blushing. "We took the day off, spent it on the mountains, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, really..."

"We didn't even have a ring, it just... Happened. After a few hours, I was getting kind of tired, so Lukas took pity on me and we just found a place to rest, and he just looked so beautiful sitting there, snow in his hair and lashes... I swear, he isn't even human sometimes..."

"Shut it, idiot. Anyway, it was quite un-romantic, actually, he just said it randomly - I believe his exact words were, 'Hey, wanna get married?'"

"Now, he says it wasn't romantic, but that didn't stop him from accepting and kissing me on the cheeks, then the lips, then taking it all a little further, if you know what I mean..."

"Again, shut up. Obviously, I did accept, but the rest of that sentence was rubbish - we just... Hugged a little." By now, Lukas' blush was threatening to rival the red of the t-shirt Matthias was wearing.

"Okay, okay. Admittedly, we didn't start having sex on the mountain. But we did kiss. And, like, he said, we hugged."

There was silence for a moment. Then, Matthew clasped his hands together, and said, "That's - so - cuuuuute~!" Gilbert laughed and agreed, ruffling the Canadian's hair.

"Anyway," Matthias said, "thanks for turning up! Sorry about the short notice and stuff... As we said, this kind of just happened. Once we'd returned home, we called the others, and immediately Tino begins planning the wedding..."

"Yes, all credit goes to the combined force of Tino, Alfred and Matthias' mother. Who, by the way, is desperate to see you again. She arrived about a day after we told her..."

"Wait," Gilbert interrupted, "you mean that we were the last to know?"

Lukas bit his lip, and Matthias grinned guiltily. "It was all Al's idea, I swear! He wanted revenge on Matthew for not telling him about his relationship sooner, and he wanted revenge on Gilbert for 'taking his little bro's innocence'!"

Matthew sighed. "I suppose it could have been worse... I was half-expecting him to castrate Gil..."

"You think your brother could take down the awesome me, Birdie?" Gilbert did his strange 'kesesese' laugh, scoffing at the idea.

"Gil, my brother is a sports-crazed maniac with strength that rivals Lukas' speed. You teach children how to play the flute. Ouais, I think he could 'take you down'."

"Ooooh, buuurn," Matthias snickered.

Lukas just rolled his eyes.

"Anyway, are we going to go inside this beautiful house of yours, or are we just going to stand out here?"

"Good point, Matthew," Lukas said, directing them into the house he now lived in with Matthias, "let's move inside."

Once inside, the conversation resumed more or less from where it had been dropped.

"So, Lukas, we know what you're doing for a career at the moment, but Matthias has been a little mysterious - I don't think you actually told us what your job is!" Matthew stated, tone holding interest.

"His job sounds too serious for him, I swear..." Lukas said quietly.

"Heeey. I'm working in chemical research - that doesn't sound too serious for me, does it?" Matthias pouted.

"...ja, it does."

"Like you can talk, Mister Flute Teacher..."

The conversation carried on, going wildly off-topic as Lukas and Matthew reached the theme of sport, and Matthias and Gilbert chipped in with their own opinions. All in all, the discussion slowly became more and more heated - absence only makes the heart grow fonder, after all, and what better way to show said fondness than to have a friendly debate?

After a few hours of well-mannered frivolities between the four, they retreated to their respective rooms, Lukas and Matthias giving them a shirt guided tour of the house. Jet-lagged and eagerly anticipating the day after, the Canadian and Prussian happily headed to bed a few hours earlier than usual, leaving the two fiancées alone.

"I can't believe we're getting married tomorrow, Luke. It's just so surreal. It literally feels like yesterday that I was trying to work out how to tell you I love you."

"I know. It's the same for me. But I can't wait. I really can't wait."

Matthias wrapped his arms around Lukas, burying his face in the platinum hair. Instead of pushing him away, Lukas leaned into the embrace, reaching his own arms around the Danish man's waist. Matthias sighed happily. "Neither can I. It's going to be magical, Lukas."

The next day, the two were married. Given away by Emil's mother, who had been tracked down and informed of the entire fiasco with their father, Lukas had tears of pure happiness in his eyes as he set in metaphorical stone his relationship with Matthias. Likewise, aquamarine eyes shined with joy as Matthias spoke his vows in front of his family and friends, gaze trained only on the face of his lover.

That night, they slept in each other's arms, limbs tangled and skin bare under the silky sheets. Arms wrapped around each other, Matthias' position was protective, secure, while Lukas clung to him in comfort.

An unlikely couple; the ice-cool skier and the fiery extrovert.

The Fire and the Ice.

A/N

And so ends Fire and Ice.

Thank you all so much. I have no idea how this has managed to actually become fairly popular - it still amazes me that people actually want to read something I have written. As of right now, this story has 162 reviews, 66 favs and 82 followers. This is infinitely more than I could have ever hoped for. Thank you so, so much.

Also, I'm sorry about all the Harry Potter quotes in this chapter... Not sure where they came from. Umm... Do I have anything else to say? I don't think so... Except again, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It will be a few weeks until I post the HongIce story - I'm going to Spain again in a short while, so it's not really worth it yet.

Until then, goodbye.
