MyVisionIsDying: I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you cry when you're sick! Feel better!

Chanty420: Congrats! That sounds amazing! And yes… it's bittersweet.

Elphaba'sGirl: Back? She never had sight in the first place. And the Wizard doesn't have any real power. We all know that.

Broadwaygirl21: I love that song, too! My history teacher made us listen to it. And no, there isn't a spell to cure Elphaba's blindness. Sorry.

Fiyero held Elphaba tight in his arms, kissing away her tears.

"Fae," he whispered softly, hugging her close. "Please don't cry."

Elphaba's sobs died down to an occasional whimper, then stopped completely.

"There," Fiyero whispered soothingly, kissing her forehead. "Is that better?"

"Y-Yeah," Elphaba whispered, tilting her head up towards Fiyero. "Th-Thank you."

Fiyero gently pulled her closer to him for a kiss. "Anything for you, Fae."

Elphaba giggled. "What time is it?"

Fiyero looked at the large clock on the main tower. "Almost ten thirty."

Elphaba nodded. "We'd better get back to the dorms before Galinda calls the Gale Force to search for us."

Chuckling, Fiyero took Elphaba's hand and, wrapping his other arm around her waist, gently guided her back to the dorms.

"There you two are!" Galinda exclaimed, throwing the door open before Fiyero had the chance to knock. The blonde took the green girl's arm and pulled her into the room. "I was about to call the Gale Force! I was so worried about you!"

"Called it!" Fiyero smirked.

"Thank you for walking me back, Yero," Elphaba smiled, trying to squeeze in a quick goodbye to her boyfriend.

"You're welcome, Fae," Fiyero smiled, giving Elphaba a gentle kiss on the nose before turning to go back to his own room.

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Elphaba heard the door close and sighed. Smiling, she slowly closed her eyes and played with the locket around her neck. "Glin?" she asked, hearing the blonde sniffle behind her. "Are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah. It's just… you two look so cute together," the blonde sobbed, dabbing the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief.

Rolling her eyes, Elphaba made her way to her dresser and grabbed her nightgown. She quickly changed and made her way to her bed.

"G'night, Elphie," came the blonde's muffled voice as she turned over in her sleep.

"Goodnight, Glin."

The next morning, Galinda slowly opened her eyes and smiled, seeing Elphaba sitting on the edge of her bed. Yawning, she slowly sat up and rubbed her eyes.

"Ah, you're awake," Elphaba smiled, lifting her head.

"You're up early," Galinda muttered, stretching out her arms and yawning again.

"I thought this would be a better alternative than you jumping on me," Elphaba smirked.

Galinda blinked the sleep out of her eyes and looked over at Elphaba, who was wearing her uniform. "What day is it today?"

"Monday. Yesterday was Sunday, and today is Monday," Elphaba answered. "What's wrong?"

The blonde groaned. "This means… school!"

Rolling her eyes, Elphaba offered the blonde her hand, which Galinda gratefully accepted as she allowed Elphaba to gently pull her to her feet.

"Go get ready. Hurry!" Elphaba said, pushing Galinda towards the bathroom.

"Is this payback for last night?"

"Maybe…"

"Hey, at least you had a good time."

Elphaba smiled. "I did."

"Good." A click and Galinda jumped into the shower, singing high notes as she washed her hair. She brought her private opera to a pause when she heard Elphaba banging on the door.

"Glin! You've been in there for over half an hour! We're going to be late!"

Grumbling under her breath about her performance being interrupted, she quickly jumped out of the shower and put on her uniform. She unlocked the bathroom and walked out, finding Elphaba standing by her desk, her fingers gliding over the braille covers of her books before placing some of them into her bag.

"Are you ready?" Elphaba asked, placing her last book into her bag and unfolding her cane.

"Mmhmm," Galinda hummed, slinging her bag over her shoulder and taking her best friend's arm. "Breakfast at the café?"

"Sure, but we don't have time to stay there, since you were having your own private concert in the shower."

Galinda wrinkled her nose and tossed her hair over her shoulder, "I was good, wasn't I?"

"You were," Elphaba smiled, playfully shaking her head.

The two women grabbed a quick breakfast at the café, apologizing to Chyla for not being able to have a full conversation.

Galinda quickly pulled Elphaba towards the Science building, huffing and breathing hard as she tried not to trip over her heels. Elphaba struggled to keep up with the blonde, trying not to trip over her own feet as she was pulled across the narrow sidewalk.

"We… made… it," Galinda huffed, leaning over and placing her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.

Elphaba lightly tossed her braid over her shoulder. "In one piece."

The blonde scowled and gently took Elphaba's arm and guided her up to the second floor. After finding seats in the second row, Elphaba quietly took out her books, glad that Dr. Dillamond didn't start the lecture yet.

Elphaba stood alone, waiting for Galinda by Suicide Canal. The last thing the blonde told her before disappearing somewhere was to wait there and not move. So Elphaba did just that. She didn't feel like going on an 'adventure', which was simply translated to 'getting lost'.

She closed her eyes, listening to the water rushing beneath her. The sound of a guitar playing caught her attention. She turned towards the sound. Then a voice started singing. It sounded familiar. Elphaba curiously walked towards the music.

"Yero?" she asked when she sensed she was close enough. "Is that you?"

Fiyero looked up and smiled, seeing Elphaba standing over him. "Hi, Fae."

"You didn't tell me you could play the guitar," Elphaba said, folding her cane and sitting down next to Fiyero.

"You didn't tell me a lot of things," Fiyero argued.

"Point taken. When did you learn?"

"I taught myself when I was younger."

"Could you play something?"

"I… I can try." Fiyero positioned his fingers on the neck of the guitar and began to play. "You can count on me, like one, two, three, and I'll be there. And I know when I need it, I can count on you, like four, three, two, and you'll be there. 'Cause that's what friends are su'posed to do, oh yeah."

"That sounds wonderful, Yero," Elphaba smiled, leaning her head on her boyfriend's shoulder.

"Thanks. That can be our special song," Fiyero smiled.

Elphaba chuckled. "I would like that."

"I could teach you how to play, if you want."

"Oh… I… I don't think I could," Elphaba said, slowly pushing herself up.

"Sure, you can. It's not that hard." Fiyero said, handing Elphaba the guitar. "I'll show you. You hold it like this…" Fiyero positioned the guitar in Elphaba's lap. "And your fingers go like this…" He guided Elphaba's fingers to a specific position on the strings. "Now strum."

Elphaba played the chord and smiled. "C?"

"Yeah," Fiyero smiled, moving her fingers. "Now try this one."

Another chord. "G?"

"Uh-huh. And this one?"

Another chord. "E."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Good, because you're right," Fiyero smiled.

The green girl smiled as Fiyero gently guided her fingers to play different chords.

"That was fun," Elphaba smiled, handing the guitar back to Fiyero.

"Elphie, I told you not to move!" a perky, but annoyed, voice said.

"Glin," Fiyero whined.

"Oh… I'm sorry. Was I interrupting a moment?"

"Yes," the couple said in unison.

"Oh. Well, Elphie and I have a lot of work to do right now."

Elphaba turned towards the blonde. "Where did you go?"

"I had to do something."

"Do what?"

"Make this," the blonde smiled, handing Elphaba a large piece of paper.

Elphaba's fingers ran over the large paper, trying to decipher what it was. It was shaped like a diamond, with two small sticks crossing at the center. "What is this?"

"It's a kite."

"A what?"

"A kite."

"Oh. And what is the purpose of this?"

"You've never flown a kite before?" Galinda asked, shocked.

Elphaba shook her head. "No."

"Well, then, come on," Galinda smiled, helping the green girl to her feet and walking away.

"Wait for me!" Fiyero called, running after them, struggling to run and hold his guitar at the same time, not wanting to leave it by the tree.

The trio stopped in the middle of the quad. Galinda licked her finger and lifted it into the air, trying to determine the direction of the wind. Smiling, she turned around and walked away with the kite.

"What is she doing?" Elphaba asked, turning towards Fiyero.

"Glin's gonna run with the kite," Fiyero explained.

"Why?"

"That's how you get it to fly."

"Oh."

Galinda turned and, smiling, ran back towards her friends, the kite trailing high in the air behind her.

"Here, Elphie. Hold this," Galinda said, pressing the extra string into Elphaba's hands.

"Now what do I do?" Elphaba questioned.

"Nothing. You just stand here and hold the kite string."

Elphaba frowned. "And… what is the purpose of this?"

"Nothing. It's just fun," Galinda smiled.

Fiyero wrapped his arm around Elphaba's waist and gently pulled her closer to him. "Isn't this fun?"

"Not exactly the word I would use," Elphaba admitted.

"What word would you use, then?"

"… Boring…"

"You don't feel… free?" Galinda asked.

Elphaba frowned. "Why would flying a kite make me feel free?"

"Think about it. The kite's just flying up there, allowing the wind to move it. It doesn't care about anything -"

"Probably because it's an inanimate object," Elphaba interjected.

"Don't interrupt, Elphie. As I was saying, the kite is moving freely, allowing the wind to guide it."

"And?"

"And that's what you have to do when flying on the broomstick."

Elphaba paused. She never thought about it that way. "I…"

"You can say anything you want, Elphie. I know you're scared about flying and I understand why. You can deny it all you want, but we know it's true. But you're the one who said that you didn't want to be treated differently than everybody else. Up to a certain point, I know," the blonde said, holding up her hand when Elphaba opened her mouth to interject. "I just wanted to show you that flying can be a very liberating experience."

"Well… you succeeded," Elphaba smiled, turning towards her friend. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, Elphie." Galinda gently took the kite string and brought the kite back in. "It's getting chilly. We should probably go back inside."

Elphaba chewed on the inside of her cheek. The broom was clutched in her left hand, her right hand clinging to her skirt. Fiyero had his arm wrapped securely around her waist.

"Come on, Fae. You can do it," Fiyero encouraged.

"I… I can't," Elphaba whispered. "Not… not by myself."

"There's nothing to be afraid of. Only a few students are out here. And none of them are looking this way. Plus, you're exam is next week."

"That's not the point."

"Well… Galinda's taking an exam right now. And even if she was here, she would be saying the exact thing I'm saying."

Elphaba's fist tightened around her skirt. "I…"

"Please, Fae? I know you can do it."

"Alright. Alright, I'll do it," Elphaba frowned, mounting the broom. "I hope you're happy." Closing her eyes, she softly muttered the levitation spell under her breath, afraid that if she spoke any louder, she would go shooting into the air. Slowly, she felt her feet rising from the ground. Whimpering, she clutched the handle of the broom even tighter.

"You're doing good, Fae," Fiyero smiled. "Try flying around a little bit."

Nodding weakly, Elphaba leaned forward slightly, making the broom fly forward.

"Just let the wind guide you," Fiyero advised.

Slowly, Elphaba began to feel the fear disappearing. She let go of the breath she didn't realize she was holding. Smiling, she urged the broom to fly higher. Galinda was right. She did feel free. She felt like nothing could stop her. She slowly loosened her grip on the broom, calming herself down. She was defying gravity, and no one was gonna bring her down.

A strong gust of wind can out of nowhere and surprised the green girl. Scared, she briefly lost control of the broom and crashed landed, landing on the ground with a thud, her raven hair fanning out around her.

"Fae!" Fiyero shouted as he ran to his girlfriend. Kneeling beside her, she gently scooped her into his arms. "Fae? Fae, are you alright?"

A moan and Elphaba slowly opened her eyes, biting back tears.

"Fae, are you hurt?" Fiyero whispered, his eyes filled with worry.

"I… I give up," Elphaba whispered brokenly.

"Here, let's try again," Fiyero offered gently.

"No. I'm never doing this again." Frowning, Elphaba tried to push herself out of Fiyero's arms, but the prince pulled her back.

"Fae, you can't just give up."

"I can and I will."

"This isn't the Elphaba Thropp I know. This isn't the girl I fell in love with. The girl I fell in love with would never let anything stop her."

"You don't get it, do you?"

"Get what?"

"Fiyero, do I have to spell it out for you?" Fiyero opened his mouth to say something, but Elphaba cut him off. "I'm blind, Fiyero! As in, I can't see!"

"Fae-"

"My world is constant and total darkness. It always has been and it always will be!"

"Fae-"

"Don't you think I would like it so much better if-"

Fiyero cut off her rant with a kiss. "Do you ever let anyone else talk?"

Elphaba slowly lifted her head, her dead, chocolate eyes staring listlessly over Fiyero's shoulder. "N-No. Sorry."

Fiyero smiled and hugged Elphaba closer. "I know how you feel, Fae. I know you think I don't, but I do."

"How do you know?"

"Boyfriends know these types of things."

Elphaba chuckled softly. "Of course you do."

"So, are we going to try this again tomorrow?"

"We?" Elphaba questioned, raising her eyebrow.

Fiyero rolled his eyes. "Are you going to dry again tomorrow?"

Elphaba knew the answer Fiyero wanted to hear and caved. "Alright."

"Good," Fiyero smiled, gently kissing Elphaba's nose and helping her to her feet.

Elphaba took one step forward and grimaced, her hand flying to her side.

"Fae, are you alright?" Fiyero asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Elphaba said, forcing a small smile and taking a step forward. A sharp pain hit her side and she fell to the ground.

"Fae!" Fiyero exclaimed, falling to his knees next to her. "What happened?"

"My side…" Elphaba whimpered.

Fiyero gingerly lifted his girlfriend into his arms and carried her inside. "I'll take you to the nurse."

"It hurts…" Elphaba whispered before closing her eyes.
