K.C.M.O: Thank you thank you thank you. (Sorry, I'm just really bad at taking compliments and I'm not sure what else to say.) I'm happy to hear I've been keeping Grimmjow in character. Hopefully I don't mess it up since there's gonna be more romance. I love how you said I write him the way you imagined it. Before I write I actually close my eyes and 'imagine' the scenes in my head. I think it works pretty well, I just have troubles getting my imagination down on paper sometimes.
WorldPeaceMan: Thank you! Can't wait for more fluff, eh? XD Hehe, definitely more romance to come!
It was a couple days since Grimmjow's trial was called off. Everything continued on like it did before. Toshiro, Rangiku, Rukia, and the other shinigami's were back in school posing as students, Grimmjow was still living with Nicara, and Keigo still had a crush on Nicara.
They were all in school, talking among each other. Keigo, however, noticed something different. Nicara and Grimmjow were looking a little friendlier than usual. Chatting at their lockers, she was much more relaxed around him. They were standing pretty close together, their hips and shoulders touching. They hadn't done anything romantic, but a the same time looked to be more than just friends.
After Nicara walked away Keigo confronted Grimmjow. "This can't be happening!" he exclaimed. "Could it be, the smart, beautiful Nicara, has fallen for the gruesome Grimmjow?"
Grimmjow growled and looked Keigo in the eye. "What the fuck are you babbling about?"
"Are you, a warlock, dating a princess like Nicara?"
Warlock? Princess? Dating? What in the world was wrong with that guy. The word 'dating' however, was foreign to Grimmjow. He knew the words kissing, fucking, and mating; arrancar's didn't date. Never in his life had he dated anyone. Dating meant being in a committed relationship, which wasn't easy for Grimmjow to do. Usually he'd just have sex with a woman to let off some steam, or for pleasure. It never really mattered to him who it was, as long as she'd submit to him and scream out his name.
Nonetheless, this time it was different; he actually wanted a specific woman, yet had too much pride to admit it. "That's none of your fuckin' business." he finally answered.
"Fine, I'll ask the lovely maiden myself. " Keigo ran down the hall, until he spotted the girl he was looking for. "Nicara!" he called.
"Hmm?" she responded, turning around to face him.
"Are you and that brute dating?" He asked, pointing a finger in Grimmjow's direction.
Nicara took a minute to thoroughly think through Keigo's question. Were they dating? Truthfully, she didn't know. They had kissed once, but it was kinda due to the moment. They hadn't gotten any more intimate after coming home from soul society. They were definitely closer now, but officially, nothing more than friends.
She shook her head. "No, we're not dating, just close friends." she muttered the last part, a little disappointed with her own answer.
Grimmjow was at his usual spot on the rooftop during lunch break. Nicara didn't join him because she had some extracurricular stuff to do. It didn't really matter to him, he like lying on the rooftop by himself, letting the sun shine down on him. He was hoping to receive the usual peace and quiet, but not today. After what seemed like five minutes into the lunch hour, Rangiku sneaked up on him. What in the world was the big breasted shinigami woman doing here?
"What do you want?" he grunted, sitting up.
Rangiku had a big grin on her face. "I heard you and Nicara are a thing now, am I right?" she asked, excited to know if the latest gossip was true.
Grimmjow swore under his breath. It was all fuckin' Keigo's fault. "No, we're not fuckin' dating!" he exclaimed.
"What? You're not?" she whined, disappointed with the news. An idea popped into her head. "Then why don't you ask her out?" she suggested.
"Why would I do that?"
She rolled her eyes and stated, "Cause she likes you, and you like her back."
He was slightly taken aback by her words. "I never said I fuckin' liked her." Since when did the busty blond get that idea?
Rangiku laughed. "Oh you don't need to, cause it's really damn obvious."
"Just fuck off" Grimmjow fumed, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
"Okay, sheesh, you're no fun to tease anyways. " Rangiku muttered as she left Grimmjow alone. She could tell the arrancar was denying his feelings, but he'd have to face them eventually. Arrancar's may not have a heart, but they did have emotions, love being one of them.
Grimmjow let out a frustrated sigh. What was with people today? They only kissed once, and it's not like anyone saw it. Plus he never mentioned the kiss to anyone, unless Nicara did. No, she wouldn't, otherwise big boobs would've been all over it. What was the big deal anyway? Why did it matter if they were dating or not? It was none of their business, and if another person asked about it, he wasn't going to take it lightly.
Nicara wasn't sure if she was just imagining things, but after lunch, it seemed like Grimmjow was avoiding her. They didn't have any classes together this afternoon, but when they passed each other in the hallway, he didn't even look at her. She didn't know why it bothered her so much, but she wanted to talk to him about them. If there ever was a them.
After school ended, Grimmjow packed his bag and swiftly left the building without waiting for Nicara. Now, she knew for sure something was up. They've been walking home together since Christmas. He'd always wait for her, or tell her to hurry up. Maybe I should just give him some space, she thought to herself. But not today. She wanted to talk with him now, the sooner the better.
Not wasting another second, Nicara threw her bag on her back and sprinted after Grimmjow. He must've heard her coming, for he turned around, giving her a awkward glance. "Grimmjow!," she called. "Wait up."
"Wait for you? It's not my fault yer so fuckin' slow." he said as he continued striding forwards. He was so much taller, his legs notably longer, so it was always hard to keep up with him. One of his steps would equal two of Nicara's.
"What's with you? You've been acting weird since after lunch."
"Me? I've been trying to stay way from you so people would stop asking me if we're dating."
"Well, are we?" she questioned.
He stopped in his tracks. "What?"
"Are we dating? Cause people are asking me too, and I don't know what to tell them."
A scowl emerged on his face. "Just tell them to fuck off."
Nicara rolled her eyes. Grimmjow was clearly not a people person. "Easy for you to say," she muttered.
"It's none of their business-"
"But it's mine." Nicara interjected.
Grimmjow was at a standstill now. He was hoping that they wouldn't get to this conversation; He really didn't know what to say. He was never good with expressing his feelings, this time was no exception.
Nicara sighed, she had a hunch he wouldn't want to talk about this, just like most typical guys.
"Look, I don't really care about what others think but I want to know myself. Are we in a relationship or something? I don't know about you, but I still haven't forgotten about that kiss back in soul society. Since we got back nothings changed, I guess we were just caught up in the moment." she muttered sadly.
"So what are you trying to say? You wanna got out?" he asked, slightly confused.
Nicara shrugged. "I don't know, do you?"
Giving a loud sigh, he stated, "Look woman, I've never dated anyone before. I've fucked many women in my arrancar days, but nothing more. It's not something arrancars do."
"If you don't want to date just say so," she said sourly.
"I never said that." he retorted immediately.
His reaction confused Nicara. First he explained how his kind didn't date, and now he denied not wanting to date her? What was he trying to say? Softening her voice, she asked once more, "So you do wanna go out with me?"
He didn't answer, instead he just looked away, avoiding all eye contact. Why were guys so damn confusing? It was obvious Grimmjow had some sort of feelings for Nicara, yet he couldn't decided if he wanted to be in an actual relationship. And honestly, Nicara felt the same way. She still wasn't completely over Kaede, but developed some feelings for Grimmjow. Was she ready to date him? Probably not. Perhaps it's best if they kept their relationship the way it is, since they were both undecided.
"You know what? Just forget about it, sorry for mentioning it." She turned around and stared heading in the other direction.
Surprised she had given up on the subject so easily, Grimmjow asked, "Where are you going?"
"To Orihime's house." She needed a girl talk, stat.
It turned out Rangiku was also at Orihime's house. In a way it shouldn't have been a surprise since her and Toshiro lived at her house. Because the large bosom shinigami was a bit of a gossiper, Nicara kinda only wanted to talk to Orhime. However, Rangiku joined in once she found out the topic was about boys, more specifically Grimmjow.
There were some pro's and con's with Rangiku joining the conversation. The cons: she like to gossip and could be very annoying. The pros: she probably had more experience with boys, thus better advice. And with Nicara's situation, she needed all the help she could get.
"So the two of you dating?" Rangiku asked excitedly.
"No, not at the moment."
"Awww, why not?"
"Well he never asked me out, plus I don't know if I like him enough."
Rangiku looked at Nicara with disbelief. Both her and Grimmjow seemed so clueless when it came to love. "Honey, you risked your life to save him. I think it's pretty obvious you like him."
She of course, was right. Nicara couldn't deny her feelings for him. "Well yeah, but I don't know if he feels the same way."
"Has he ever said anything nice to you?" Orihime asked.
Grimmjow and the word nice obviously didn't fit in the same sentence, so it was kinda hard to understand what she was trying to say. "For example...?"
"Has he ever complimented you? Like saying you're pretty?"
Nicara almost choked on her own saliva. "No, unless him saying I have a 'nice ass' counts."
Rangiku laughed, while Orihime looked embarrassed. "Well Grimmjow isn't exactly the most romantic guy who'd open about his feelings. Usually guys like these express feeling through their actions. Has he done anything nice for you?"
Now this got Nicara thinking. "Hmmm...well, when I lost my necklace he spent the entire day helping me look for it, without being asked."
"That's a good start, anything else?"
Nicara nodded, a small blush creeping on her face. "When we were underground in soul society, I told Grimmjow I missed him, and he said he missed me too. And then he ...he kissed me."
"Awww that's so sweet!" Orihime applauded.
Rangiku, on the other hand, jumped out of her seat and exclaimed, "What! You mean you two already kissed? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't think it was a big deal." she shrugged. "I figured we were just caught up in the moment."
"The kiss, how long was it?"
"Huh? I dunno, a few seconds, ...or minutes."
"Did you enjoy it? Was he a good kisser? Were his lips really soft?" Rangiku spluttered.
Nicara's face was red now. "Yes, to all three." she sheepishly muttered.
"Well then its obvious he likes you. He's just probably has too much pride to admit his feelings."
"Tell him how you feel." Orihime suggested. " Maybe he's just shy."
Nicara snorted. "Grimmjow is not shy. He speaks his mind out anytime, and all the time. But I guess he did mention how he's never been in an actual relationship with anyone, so you might be right."
"Just give him some time, he'll come around."
Nicara sighed, "Yeah, I hope so."
"Remember, his actions speak louder than words."
After thanking Orihime and Rangiku for the advice, Nicara made her way home. The walk was quiet, but the wheels in her head were busy turning. When she entered the house, she found Grimmjow at his usual spot on the couch. She needed to know how he felt about her; it was now or never.
"Grimmjow can I ask you a question?"
He raised a brow, his back tense. "About dating?"
"No,"
"Okay, then what?" he asked, relaxing a bit.
"Why did you kiss me back in soul society?"
The question took him by surprise, so he took several seconds before responding. "Cause I felt like it."
"You felt like it?" Nicara's heart sunk. "So if Orihime came along and you felt like making out, you'd go kiss her."
Grimmjow shook his head. Making his way towards Nicara, he explained, "No, I only feel like kissing you."
"What...?" He only feels like kissing me? Was she suppose to take that as a compliment? "I...I don't understand, why me?"
"Like hell I know. It's just when I'm around you, I get this weird feeling inside my chest, almost like I'm sick but I'm not. Then I get this urge to be near you, and touch you." Standing about a feet away, he brushed a strand of hair out of her face.
Nicara stared at Grimmjow wide eyed, slightly shocked. That was the most he had ever opened up about his feelings. His symptoms though, where similar to the way she felt when she was around him. She'd get butterflies in her stomach, her heart would start beating faster, and couldn't stop staring at his icy sapphire eyes.
"I think I understand now." she announced looking pleased.
"You do? Great, then tell me what's wrong with me."
"There's nothing wrong with you."
"There isn't?" His face was full of doubt.
Nicara shook her head. " No, cause those are the same feelings I get when I'm around you."
"So what does it mean?" he demanded.
Making full eye contact, she slowly stated, "It means I like you, and you like me."
"I like you?" he questioned, slightly skeptical.
"I guess. Well, do you like this?" Taking a chance, she pulled Grimmjow down for a kiss. His eyes were open at first, but he quickly closed them and kissed her back. After several seconds, he pulled away, placing his forehead against hers.
"Yes," he managed to breath out, answering Nicara's question.
"Then yes," she concluded with a smile.
I'm not completely satisfied with this chapter, I just felt like my oc, Nicara, was making a big deal of the whole relationship status thing. Anyways, I think the next one is going to turn out better.
Next Chapter: Should come out in about two weeks. I'll give you a hint to keep you guys thinking! Chapter 18: Mamma Mia!
