Not sure why, but for some reason Grimmjow and I decided to take the bus home from the mall. Unfortunately it was the five o'clock in the afternoon, which meant the afternoon rush. When we stepped onto the bus, there was only one seat left. I was about to take a seat, but Grimmjow beat me to it. Talk about chivalry.
"You know, most of the times the guy offers the girl the seat." I hinted as the bus started moving. I held on to the nearest pole to keep my balance.
Leaning back further into the seat, his face was apathetic. "You wanna sit? Then sit. "
"There's no room, you took the last spot," I pointed out.
"Just sit right here," he offered, patting his lap.
I raised a brow, skeptical with his suggestion. "I am not sitting in your lap," I firmly stated.
"Why not?" he questioned. "That way we both get to sit. If you got the seat I'd have to stand."
"Join the club."
"Stop being a bitch and get over here." He yanked my arm just as the bus jolted forwards, causing me to fall right into his lap. Not wasting a second, he coiled his arms around my waist keeping me in place.
I tried wiggling out of his arms, but it only made him hold onto me tighter. The more I tried to move, the more people started to stare. I blushed, they probably thought I was trying to grind my boyfriend or something.
"Grimm, " I pleaded softly, "please let go, people are staring."
He snorted, not caring one bit. "So? Let them stare."
I sighed in defeat. "You just love to embarrass me in public, don't you?"
He nodded with a grin. "It's the only time I get to see you give in while looking all flustered."
"Fuck you," I grumbled.
He only laughed, planting a kiss on the top of my head before whispering into my ear, "Anytime baby."

"Hey mom, I'm home!" I announced, slipping off my sneakers.
Mom was in the kitchen, she glanced at me in the doorway. "Where have you been?"
"At the mall." I simply answered.
"All by yourself?"
"Of course not, I was with ...a friend."
Mom looked suspicious, for she raised a brow. "Anyone I know?"
"Not really," I quickly stated. "Why?"
"Oh nothing, just wanted to know a little more about your friends. Maybe you could introduce me to them after school one day?"
It was an odd request, but why not? Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, and Tatsuki were definitely introducible students. I would just have to convince Uryu to pose as Grimmjow in front of my mother. "Sure, if you want to."
Mom must've seen the questioning look in my face, for she began explaining herself. "It's just that we haven't talked in so long, just the same old 'are you doing fine' on the short phone calls. It feels odd not knowing who you friends are or what you like to do anymore."
I nodded, understanding what mother was saying. She missed me and wanted a better connection. If she knew who my friends were, we could have more to talk about, thus a better bond. "It's alright mom, I understand. Why don't we a mother daughter night. Just you and me, so we can catchup with each other."
"I'd love that honey." she replied with a sincere smile.
Together my mom and I spent the whole night bonding. We haven't seen each other for half a year, so there was so much to say. However, I had to watch my mouth. Several times I wanted to mention the hollows that attacked me, the hole in my arm, and soul society. Unfortunately, those topics where off limits, which cause me to stutter halfway during a story, trying to make up a different ending. It was actually more challenging than I thought. I couldn't mention that I let a stranger move in, how I developed powers, and was getting trained daily. The entire six months centered around hollows, shinigami's, and Grimmjow, but I couldn't mention any of it.
It felt wrong not being able to tell mom the truth; I was use to being a honest student, not a big fat liar. However, even if I told her the truth she probably wouldn't believe me. She'd just think I'm crazy.
We talked for hours. She asked me so many questions, most of which I couldn't answer. I tried my best to drive the questions onto her rather than me. I asked her about dad, work, the business company, etc. Basically anything so I wouldn't have to lie. By the time we called it a night, it was already past 1:00am.
"It's getting late isn't it?"
"Yeah, I still have to wake up for school tomorrow."
"Before I let you sleep, there's one last thing I want to talk about."
Tired, I gave a small yawn. What else was there to talk about? Couldn't it wait till tomorrow? Hopefully it'd be quick. "Okay... what is it?"
"Do you have something you need to tell me?"
"..." I stiffened, exactly what was mom referring to? I mean, there were a lot of things I should've told her. I didn't say anything and waited for mom to speak.
"Today, I was also at the mall, and I saw you and Ishida embracing each other. Are you secretly dating him?"
Shit. Why did mom wait until now to mention it. My brain wasn't exactly functioning anymore, but I still had to think of a quick excuse. "Mom, it's not like that. Me and Gri- Ishida just started dating." I explained trying to keep as much to the truth as possible. "The reason I didn't say so this morning is because our relationship is still really new, so he didn't want to be introduced to you as my boyfriend yet."
Mother let out a sigh. Surprisingly, she actually didn't seem too mad. "It's alright honey, I understand. Just tell me the truth next time okay?"
I nodded. "Okay, I promise, no more secrets."
"You know, I don't mind you dating Ishida."
"You don't?"
"Well..., I didn't want you dating because I want you to focus on your studies, but it's alright since he is the top student and can help you with homework. If he was some random guy you met, then it would be a whole different story."
My whole body stiffened and I could feel drops of sweat forming on my forehead. Guilt was haunting me because mom had just basically described Grimmjow. I mean, I've lied before, but just small one, nothing as big as this. Karma was going to get the best of me. "Well, goodnight honey," she said, kissing me on the forehead. "I'm glad we had this talk."
"Yeah, goodnight," I muttered. Hopefully I could squeeze in a couple hours of sleep before sunrise. If only.
Nicara walked through the school gates, shoulders stiff, head down with a worried frown. She wasn't paying attention to her surroundings, lost in though, so she didn't hear a voice calling her.
Grimmjow knew something was off. Nicara had her head down, it just made her look depressing. He called out to her several times, but she didn't seem to hear him. She just kept walking to her locker. She wasn't ignoring him, was she? She couldn't possibly still be mad about the bus ride; she wasn't the type of person to hold a grudge.
Since her sense of sound wasn't working, Grimmjow decided to take a different approach through touch and feel. Something to get her heart beating and add some emotion to her face. She was at her locker now, organizing her binders for class. Quickly and quietly, Grimmjow sneaked behind Nicara, snaking his arms around her waist, his head burying into the crook of her neck. She jumped immediately, dropping her books, before realizing who it was.
"Shit! Grimmjow, don't scare me like that."
He took a step back to give her some space, shuffling his hands in his pockets. "Scare you?" he snorted. "I've been calling you for the last five minutes."
"Oh, sorry." she muttered sheepishly, picking up her books. "I'm just kinda tired."
"Did you sleep at all last night? You look like the walking dead!"
Nicara's facial expression changed immediately from tired to annoyed. Way to make a girl feel better, Grimmjow. "I do not!" she protested, pouting like a child.
He laughed, ruffling her hair. "Yeah, yeah, just tell me why you're so bitchy today."
Nicara sighed. "Well, all thanks to you yesterday, my mom saw us kissing at the mall."
"Me? You're the one who wouldn't get it over with."
"She also asked me about it, so I told her we just started dating."
"And she's cool with it? "
"Yeah, cause she thinks you're Ishida, a brainiac."
"Not my fuckin' fault," he stated. "You're the one who said I was Ishida."
"Well it seemed like a good idea at the time. I just don't know what to do if she finds out the truth."
"Quit worrying would ya? She'd not going to find out."
Nicara sighed. Prying Grimmjow would be right, she took a deep breath and put her worries aside. "Let's get to class," she said, taking Grimmjow's hand in hers.
Class sent by faster than expected. After she stopped thinking about her mother, Nicara was relaxed and back to her usual self. At lunch, Grimmjow wanted to make out, but of course she refused. There was no where at school private enough; a teacher or student could walk in on them anytime. Plus she'd die of embarrassment if people saw them making out. She didn't mind holding hands or a kiss on the cheek, but not mouth to mouth action in public.
After school, Nicara and Grimmjow were walking home when she realized she forgot one of her books.
"I need to go back and get it."
"Really?" Grimmjow groaned. "Can't you just get it tomorrow?"
"It's due tomorrow morning, smart-ass."
"Tch."
"You know you don't have to come with me."
"I'm coming cause I got nothing better to do."
She smirked, knowing that it was Grimmjow's way of covering up from looking nice. "Whatever you say."
Arriving back at school, it was pretty quiet. Most students and teachers had already gone home.
"Hey Gimmjow, you can just wait out here, I'll be back in a minute." He only grunted in response.
Shortly after school ended, Nicara's mother came in to meet her daughter's teacher. This was something she always did. She wanted to make sure her daughter was getting educated by good teacher. She introduced herself to Mrs. Ochi and asked about Nicara grades. She, of course, said Nicara was doing excellent and was currently ranked at number two, closely following behind Uryu.
"I know she's doing great, but I'm just surprised Uryu Ishida is dong better than her."
"That's probably because your daughter is more outgoing than Uryu."
"Sorry, but I don't seem to follow."
"Well, Uryu is a intelligent soft-spoken guy who likes to work alone, while your daughter is involved in lots of activities."
"I would've thought Uryu was a very popular guy. He's been dating my daughter and helping her with homework."
"Nicara and Uryu dating? I don't think so. Just at the end of class I saw her holding hands with another student. Grimmjow I believe."
"Who's Grimmjow?" The name didn't ring a bell. She didn't remember seeing the name on the ranking list, at least not the top ten.
"He's a student that just joined the class shortly after your daughter."
"This student, Grimmjow, does he have bright blue hair?"
"Yes, how'd you know?"
Nicara's mother, being a fairly smart woman, paused to think. All the pieces of information where starting to fit together, but she needed proof before she could accuse her daughter of lying. "Could you show me a picture of the two boys?"
"Sure, I can search them up on the school system computer."
Mrs. Ochi typed in the name 'Grimmjow Jaegerjaques', his picture popped up on the screen. On the other half of the screen she searched up Uryu Ishida. A picture of a boy with dark blue hair and glasses showed up. She placed the windows sided by side so Mrs. Shiba could compare the two boys.
"This boy named Grimmjow, What's he like?"
"He's certainly a handful. Never doing his work, often sleeping during lectures, and always late to class. However, he's been more punctual recently. Perhaps it's thanks to your daughter."
Nicara's mother couldn't believe this. Her daughter had been lying to her. The boy, Ishida, no Grimmjow was the exact opposite person from what she thought. A million questions raced though her what was that boy really doing in her house, what other things had Nicara been lying about? Her thought ended for they were just about to be answered when a faint knock came from outside the classroom door.
I lightly knocked on the classroom door. It wasn't closed, just left slightly ajar. I thought I heard voices inside, so I didn't want to be impolite and interrupt anything. I heard a 'come in' from Mrs. Ochi, so I quickly scurried in, only to spot my mother.
"Mom?" I questioned, slightly surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing." she said rather sternly.
"I just forgot my workbook." I explained, heading to my desk.
My mother watched my every move, like a hawk watching it's prey. On top of the desk, was none other than my calculus workbook. I took it into my hands and shoved it into my bag. Something about my mother was off, she seemed almost angry.
"Mom, are you alright?" I asked, concerned.
"No, I'm not." she answered frankly. "Mrs. Ochi just told me some interesting facts. We need to go home right now and have a talk."
I relaxed a bit. "We're not having a talk about my grades again are we? Uryu's just a really smart guy."
"Yes, Uryu is, but Grimmjow is not." I froze. Did she say what I think she said? "Honestly Nicara, how long did you think you could pretend that blue haired boy was Ishida?"
Shit, shit, shit! Mom already knew; She already found out the truth. There was no hiding or denying it now, especially with Mrs. Ochi sitting right there to back up the truth. I was dead meat.
To make matter's worse, Grimmjow couldn't have had any better timing.
"Yo, Nicara, how long does it fuckin' take to get a book?" he grumbled walking into the classroom, only to feel the awkward tension building in the air.
The ride home was silent. My mother just kept her eyes on the road while I glanced back and forth from her to the window. She appeared calm, but clearly wasn't. You could tell by her stiff shoulder's and death grip on the steering wheel. She was holding back whatever she wanted to say, waiting until we got back to the house.
Once I closed the front door behind us, my mother lashed out.
"Nicara Shiba, how could you lie to me about that boy?! Is there anything else you've been lying to me about? I'm very disappointed in you. You use to be so well behaved, honest, and trustworthy. That's why I let you live on your own, but it's obvious that boy has influenced you."
That boy? "Wait a minute, what does this have to do with Grimmjow?"
"It's obvious what kind of person he is,"
"Really?" I challenged, stepping forward. "Then please tell me."
Without hesitation she spluttered, "He's the typical lazy, good-looking, bad boy. I don't know how you got involved with him, but you should stop seeing him immediately."
"Why? Yesterday you said it was fine that we were dating."
"That's because I thought he was Uryu Ishida."
"So what?" I demanded. "Just because he's not the top student, I can't date him?"
"He's a bad influence for you, Nicara, It's probably the reason your grades been dropping, you've been spending too much time with him."
"He's not like that mom! He's not in a gang, and he doesn't do drugs."
"It doesn't matter, It's obvious you two are polar opposites. Your focus is academics, while he just lugs around. You're going to be in University next year, and he'll be on the streets, wishing he did better in school."
"It's true, we're slightly different, but haven't you heard? Opposites attract."
My mother snorted. "That's just a silly cliche saying."
"Is that really your only exception? A smart boyfriend? I kinda knew, that's why I lied, but I didn't think you'd be this shallow! He taught me so many things mom. How to love, to let go, but most of all how to have fun."
"And how to talk back." she countered.
I couldn't believe it, my mother would never understand would she? "Please, mom, give Grimmjow a chance will you?" Her mother only shook her head. "But-"
"Stop, Nicara. I already told you my answer."
There was nothing left to say, so I swiftly turned around and went to my room, slamming the door shut. I headed straight towards my bed, lying down, recovering from the argument. I was just done calming myself when I heard my phone vibrate. It was an incoming call from Grimmjow. I, however, wasn't in the mood to talk, so I turned off my phone and put it on the night stand. I sat upright on the bed, eves closed while trying to think of ways to change my mother's view on Grimmjow.
I skipped dinner that night and just ate whatever snacks I had in my room. I was still kinda hungry, but I wouldn't starve to death. It beats having to see my mother right now. I continued with my homework and when I finally finished I sprawled myself on the bed, face up.
While my eyes were closed I heard a small click, but ignored it. But then I heard the sound of breathing against my face. I opened her eyes only to endure a pair of azure orbs boring into mine. I jerked back immediately, lightly hitting my head against the wall.
I sat up, rubbing the top of my head and hissed, "What are you doing here? How'd you even get in?"
He took a seat on the edge of my bed before answering. "Well after you fuckin' ditched me at school, I texted you a couple times, but you never replied. You didn't answer when I called you either."
"So...?"
"So I fuckin' let myself in through the window."
"That still doesn't explain why you're here."
"I'm here cause I hate Kurosaki's place. When's your mom leaving?"
"Grimmjow," I spoke in a serious tone. "My mom found out you're not actually Ishida."
"How?"
"It must have been Mrs. Ochi. My mom was pretty upset, I don't think she trusts me anymore."
He shrugged, not really caring. "So who care's what she thinks."
"Grimmjow, she's my mom... never mind, you wouldn't understand."
"Yeah, but you said she isn't your actual mother."
It was true, she was just my adopted mother, however I couldn't take advantage of the situation like that. She took me in, cared for me. It would be wrong to act like a rebel teen and say 'you're not the boss of me.' If it weren't for her I wouldn't even be here.
"I know, but think of it this way, if it weren't for her I would've never moved to Karakura town and met you." I said, cupping his face. I closed my eyes and leaned in to kiss Grimmjow, but there was a small knock on the door.
"Nicara, can I come in?"
"Shit! It's my mom." I muttered. "Hide in the bathroom, hurry." I pushed Grimmjow into the washroom, just leaving the bathroom door slightly ajar.
"Nicara, are you still awake?"
"Yeah, come in." Mother opened the door and strolled over to me, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "Nicara, honey," she started, putting a hand on my leg. "I just wanted to apologize about what happened earlier today."
"So you changed your mind?" I asked, hopeful.
"No, well not exactly. My opinions still remain the same, but I want you to know this: no matter what you do, I will always love you. I know I was being very tough on you earlier, but it's because I want what's best for you. You have so much potential, so I wanted to make sure you make the best decision. This boy, Grimmjow, if you truly like him, then I won't stop you from seeing him. I'm happy that you found love."
"Thank you mom!" I cried, giving my mom a bone crushing hug.
"I leave tomorrow afternoon, I'm glad I came to see you."
"I'm going to miss you."
"I trust you'll continue working hard and beat Ishida next semester."
I laughed "Sure will."
"And one more thing. I approve of your relationship with Grimmjow, as long as you promise you won't get pregnant before you're done school."
I blushed. "Mom, I promise that's not going to happen."
Mom laughed, "I hope not."
So basically Nicara's mom doesn't really like Grimmjow, but if she wants to keep a good relationship with her daughter she has to accept the two of them dating.
Having a bit of a writer's block, so next chapter will be up in about a month.
