Bonus : Jalec Kiss, First Draft by C.C.
While Alec lead Jace up in the attic room, he tried to hold in his fury. If he'd been sympathetic in front of Jace's sufferings a while ago, now the only thing that ran through his head was the unbelievable selfishness of his parabatai. Of course he was in pain but was it really a reason to hurt himself willingly? Didn't he know that there were other person caring for him, wishing to help him? No, that had always pass over Jace's head. What only mattered was his own pitiful drama. Alec was hurt too but did his parabatai saw that? Wondered about it? No, of course not. He was caught in his own swirl of self-hatred and didn't bother about anything else. In a flash of lucidity, Alec realized that these harsh thoughts could be applied to him also... Didn't he also acted selfishly around Magnus? Only thinking about his fears and upcoming doom if they'd be caught? Not caring about how the warlock would feel about his behavior? Biting in his own storm of self-hatred, Alec snapped at Jace, voice harsh.
- " Sit," he said to Jace, eyes stormy. "I'll get the bandages." Alec walked to his bed, aside from Jace's one. They had shared the room since they'd gotten here but as they had barely seen each other these last days, mostly because Alec avoided him, it had mostly felt like his room.
He rummaged noisily inside the duffel bag he'd retrieved beneath his bed, unable to contain the quivering anger racing through his bones, and came out with the box of medical supplies. He felt a bit of malevolent joy thinking of how Jace would have to deal with the consequences of his self-destructive behavior for once. But somehow, his parabatai called him on that.
- "Aren't you going to use a healing rune?" Jace asked, curious.
- "No. You can just —" Go to hell! Alec felt like screaming. Instead, he just flung the box on the bed roughly, muttering one of the many curses that came to his mind. Breathing deeply, Alec had the presence of mind to go clean his hands before attending to Jace's wounds. The water splashed around him as he washed with the remnant of his angry energy boiling within. Jace was looking at him with a sort of detached curiosity. Alec went back to the bed and picked the medical supplies before sitting in front of his parabatai.
- " Give me your hand." He asked harshly, a frown engraved on his face. Jace reached out and Alec couldn't contain his disgusted face when he saw the angry scratches and deep cuts embedded with glass on Jace's knuckles.
- "You're an idiot." Alec said wholeheartedly. Jace almost smirked back at him, fueling his anger. He took out the tweezers and started plucking out glass shards as his parabatai answered.
- "Thank you." Alec could have hit him at the moment but was cut off by Jace's next question. "So, why not?"
- "Why not what?" Alec questioned reluctantly.
- "Why not use a healing rune? This isn't a demon injury." Jace asked.
- "Because." Alec answered somewhat smugly, grabbing the bottle of antiseptic. "I think it would do you good to feel the pain. You can heal like a mundane. Slow and ugly. Maybe you'll learn something." He splashed the stinging liquid on his friend's cuts, happy to get a wince out of him. "Although I doubt it."
- "I can always do my own healing rune, you know." Jace said, ever the know-it-all bastard. But Alec wasn't letting it go that easy. He started wrapping the bandage around Jace's hand before answering.
- "Only if you want me to tell the Penhallows what really hapened to their window, instead of letting them think it was an accident." He pulled on the bandage, tightening the knot more roughly than necessary, getting another wince out of his parabatai. "You know, if I'd thought you were going to do this to yourself, I would never have told you anything." Alec said, though he knew he was lying.
- "Yes, you would have." Jace responded, obviously calling Alec on his lie. His parabatai had always been good at that. Alec wondered how he could ever have believed he'd be able to hide his relationship with Magnus from him. "I didn't realize my attack on the picture window would upset you quite so much." Alec sighed, his anger leaking out of him. It had been silly really... he wasn't angry with Jace that much. He'd just been his usual self. No, what had stir Alec's anger had been the unflattering mirror turned to him. How he'd himself destroyed everything that could have been good in his life for fear of being himself, of living with the feelings harbored in his heart.
- "It's just—" Alec sighed again, holding his brother's hand between his own, done with the bandaging, as if he was the one seeking comfort. Maybe he was. "Why do you do these things to yourself? Not just what you did to the window, but the way you talked to Clary. What are you punishing yourself for? You can't help how you feel." God knew he hadn't been able to fight his feelings either... and now he would never be able to express them anymore.
- "How do I feel?" Jace said evenly. But Alec could tell his parabatai was tensed.
- "I see how you look at her." He sais distantly, eyes far away as he remembered his own gaze on Magnus when he'd looked at their photos. How he'd been unable to glance away, caught up in the storm of his confused feelings. If only he'd known at the time how the warlock was all he'd ever want... "And you can't have her." Alec continued, as an echo to his own thoughts. "Maybe you just never knew what it was like to want something you couldn't have before." Alec had thought he knew... but compared to what it was like for real, his ghost crush over Jace lost all meaning.
- "What's between you and Magnus Bane?" Jace asked surprinsly, his gaze steady. Alec jerked back, unstable at being caught on his meanderings thoughts. Was he that obvious? He replied by habit, without thinking.
- "I don't — there's nothing —" He muttered, hating himself. But then... there wasn't anything anymore, right?
- "I'm not stupid." Jace said, a bit of his former anger at Alec's lies seeping through his voice. "You went right to Magnus after you talked to Malachi, before you talked to me or Isabelle or anyone —" Jace snapped, his impatience toward Alec's sidestepping obvious in his eyes. But then, Alec didn't want to talk about it. It wasn't that he still wanted to hide, he just couldn't handle Jace's inquiries at the moment. Anger flared higher in his veins.
- "Drop it, Jace," Alec said in a warning tone. But of course, Jace wouldn't care about that.
- "Magnus says it's because you're hung up on me. Is that true?" The blue-eyed boy blanched and drew back, a million images passing in front of his eyes; how often Magnus and Jace could have been alone together, how his parabatai could have caught up on Magnus' angry attitude toward him and how the warlock could have call off his crush to Jace... which seemed like he did.
There was a moment of utter silence. Then Alec gave a despairing howl of horror and put his hands up to cover his face.
- "I am going to kill Magnus. Kill him dead." And nothing was closer to the truth. How dare the warlock rat him out like that? Alec had understood his anger toward the Jace situation but he knew how Alec didn't want his supposed 'feelings' to fly back to his parabatai. It was humiliating enough to know he'd fantasized on his false crush for Jace, for years!
- "Don't. He cares about you. He really does. I believe that," Jace said, managing to sound only a little bit awkward. "Look. I don't want to push you into anything, but do you maybe want to —" Alec narrowed his eyes, sensing where his brother was going and knowing it wasn't the time. The blue-eyed shadowhunter was already feeling low and guilty when it came to Magnus' distance, and now fearful of snapping at him if they ever saw each other again, that he didn't need Jace to overcompensate by trying to fix his brother's love life as his was completely burned to the ground.
- "Call Magnus? Look, that's a dead end, I know you're trying to be helpful, but —" But I don't want you messing in my life anymore than needed, Alec was about to say but got cut off by the most random and weird request he'd ever thought to hear from his parabatai.
- "—kiss me?" Jace finished. Alec looked and felt as if he were about to fall off his chair. His ears were buzzing and he had a hard time figuring out if his brain had finally shut off and gone nuts, suggesting some crazy dialogues that weren't really happening... because Jace, HIS Jace, would have never said what his brain told him he said.
- "WHAT? What? What?" Alec resumed himself to say, needing reassurance, anything... to know this wasn't happening.
- "One what would do." Jace almost looked as if this were the sort of suggestion one made all the time. "I think it might help." HELP WHAT? Alec felt like yelling, help me throw up because I have bad digestion? Help me realized what I already know, that I DON'T want to kiss you but only Magnus? This was getting out of hand... Alec looked at him with something like horror.
- "You don't mean that." He said, trying to infuse as much seriousness and conviction in these words, hoping to snap Jace out of this nonsense.
- "Why wouldn't I mean it?" Jace said, truthful to himself and sending Alec in a panic frenzy. Why oh why did he had to fall on the one straight man that would feel confident enough in his sexuality to make this nonsensical suggestion to his gay beloved brother? This was a nightmare.
- "Because you're the straightest person I know. Possibly the straightest person in the world." Alec said again, emphasizing on the word straight. Maybe it would change Jace's mind if Alec reminded him of what he was? Obviously not...
- "Exactly," Jace said, and leaned forward, and kissed Alec on the mouth.
The kiss lasted approximately four seconds before Alec pulled forcefully away, throwing his hands up to ward Jace off from coming at him again. He was about to throw up. Not that Jace didn't have soft and plump lips (Alec shivered in disgust with his thoughts) but because the whole affair had felt awfully WRONG. His body was raking with shivers, in protest to the predicament they'd been found in... He just wanted Magnus, end of the story. He choked out his protest.
- "By the Angel," he said. "Don't ever do that again." His voice forceful and eyes wide, he wouldn't handle something like that again without beating his brother up.
- "Oh yeah?" Jace grinned, obviously enjoyed his brother's dismay. "That bad?"
- "Like kissing my brother," said Alec, with a look of horror in his eyes, not noticing how stupid his words sounded.
- "I thought you might feel that way." Jace crossed his arms over his chest. "Also, I'm hoping we can just gloss over all the irony here in what you just said." Alec still didn't caught on his words, barely managing to control the disgust that had settled in his body.
- "We can gloss over whatever you want to," Alec said fervently. "Just don't kiss me again."
Alec looked at his parabatai warily while thinking that this experiment had taught him something important. First, he would never EVER be able to think about Jace romantically anymore, even if he'd had already achieved this level of indifference lately, and second he definitely had to contact Magnus, they needed to talk and the warlock was obviously the only one that send him in a passionate whirlwind of lust and love... Nobody else owned Alec's heart.
Hehehehe and there you go, as requested, a Jalec kiss still hot and steamy out on a silver plate lol XD I hope you liked it darlings ;) Let me know, it'd be nice if you drop a review :) Thanks and see you all next chapter!
