Another family event. Another evening of being constantly grilled about if there were any boys in her life, if she liked anyone, etc. Brogan had managed to sit down next to David for the night, thankfully excusing her cousin, Amy. The waiter came round, asking what everyone wanted to drink. "Um. Vodka and orange, please." Brogan said politely. He nodded, writing down her order, and then he walked away. Brogan sighed slightly, folding her arms, and she leaned back in her seat. Everyone was engrossed in a conversation. Well. Everyone except one. The one that had agreed to come. The one that, even though he knew what her family was like, still said he wanted to come. He was listening to the conversation between two family friends, trying not to appear nosey, and then Brogan leaned forward again, leaning her elbows on the table. The two were sitting opposite her cousin Amy and her fiancé, and beside her Nana and grandad. David looked at her, "Cheer up, Brog." He told her, with a smile on his face. She pouted, "But I'm so tired!" She told him. He smiled at her, "Well, you're at a family meal, so enjoy." Brogan stuck her tongue out at him, making him laugh. Brogan smiled, and she took the drink from the waiter as he came over, thanking him. And as she glanced at her cousin, she gave her a knowing look, making Brogan blush and look down at her lap.
Their food had come, and Brogan started to slowly tuck in. "That looks nice, Brogie." Her Nana said. Brogan smiled at her, "Tastes it." "What is it?" David asked. "Uh... Just chicken and bacon pasta." He nodded, and Brogan silently went back to eating. She had exchanged conversation with David every once in a while, as well as her family members that were sat near her. "So, David?" Her cousin started. He looked up at her. "Got a girlfriend?" Brogan's eyes widened slightly, as she stared at Amy, and then she picked up her drink, taking a long sip. Please kill me now. She thought to herself. David let out a laugh, "Nah." Although relief rushed through her body, Brogan kept quiet, listening silently to the conversation, as did her grandparents. "No one at all? Come on!" Her grandad asked. Brogan covered her mouth and she laughed, as David laughed a little shaking his head. "Seriously." "Sorry about this." Brogan said quietly. He looked at her and smiled, "It's alright." Brogan smiled back, and then she looked away, going back to eating, and she glared at Amy, who winked at her. Deep breaths, Brogan. Deep breaths.
They'd finished their meals, and were now just talking around the table. "Brog? Are you coming?" Her brother asked. Brogan looked up at him, "Where?" She asked. "Around town." She smiled and nodded, "Sure." "Well, that's her pissed." Thomas joked. "Bugger off!" Brogan pouted. "It's okay, Brogan! I'll look after you." Her future sister-in-law told her. Brogan smiled at her, and then and looked at her grandparents, "I'm gonna get bad, I know it! Last time I went out with these lot, I blacked out!" "Is that when I had to carry you home?" David asked with a laugh. She blushed instantly, and she nodded, looking at him, "Mhm." She thought about that night. "Whatever I said on the way home - I'm sorry! I was absolutely out of it, and I most probably didn't mean it." "Oh, you meant it." He smirked at her. Brogan's eyes widened as she stared at him, "Don't you start messing with me, David!" He grinned at her, and then he took a sip of his pint, before talking to Thomas. Brogan sighed deeply, resting her head in her hands.
