"Adam!" Her dad called from behind her. Her breath was almost caught in her throat, her hands shaking, and her heart racing. She watched Adam look at her dad, who must've pointed at her, as his gaze moved to her. It took him a brief second.
"Hiya, I was looking for you! Y'alright?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her, Brogan reciprocating the embrace instantly; a nervous laugh was all she could produce. The two took a picture together, and she felt her heart skip a beat, as she stared at the screen, seeing their faces there, posing for the picture. She thought they looked great together. She just wished that he felt the same way. After they took a picture, her dad and Adam began to engage in conversation. She appreciated that. It meant that Adam spent longer with her. She enjoyed being in his company, even if it was just for a photo. After he ended the conversation with her dad, Adam tapped Brogan on the arm, and he said his goodbyes, before he walked away to more fans. She was on cloud nine. It was the best way to describe it. She wished that she could hang out with him for longer, for a better reason that just wanting a picture. She climbed back up to where her dad was, and she grabbed her bag; and she could feel her whole body still shaking.
"Is that it?" Her dad asked, wondering if it was okay to go.
"Uh…" Brogan looked down at where Adam was, and she shrugged slightly. "I guess so? Thanks dad!" She beamed, a wide smile on her face.
Her dad laughed at her reaction, enjoying the fact that she'd just had her moment.
The two were just about to leave, when Brogan heard her name being called.
"Brogan!"
Her heart stopped, as she looked back towards the football pitch.
Adam smiled at her, and he nodded towards where there was a gap where the stand and football ground was. Brogan looked at her dad, and he nodded for her to go. She squealed quietly, and she rushed down her row of seats, and down the steps, to where Adam was waiting for her.
"Hi." She said.
"Hey." He smiled at her.
Brogan swallowed slowly, not knowing what to say.
"I just uh… I just wanted to say thanks for comin' to see the match. It means a lot."
She smiled, feeling her cheeks burn, knowing that there were a few people watching, and she was certain that one girl was taking photos,
"You're welcome? Of course I was goin' to come! I had a lot of fun!"
Adam grinned,
"Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it."
She nodded,
"It made it even better that you guys won." She scrunched her nose at him slightly.
The two shared a laugh, and Adam quickly glanced to his left, and then back at Brogan,
"Uh, I was jus' wonderin'… What're you doin' today?"
Brogan's heart started to race,
"U-Uh, nothing really. Just… going back home."
He smiled at her,
"I was supposed to go and celebrate with the lads, but I didn't really fancy the whole drinking part of it; so I wanted to know if ya fancied doing something?"
Brogan swallowed slowly,
"W-What? A-Are you serious?"
Adam smiled at her,
"Yeah, I'm dead serious."
"Um… I-I'll have to—"
"Yeah." Adam cut her off, nodding. "Check wi' your dad first." He agreed.
Brogan smiled, blushing deeply, and she nodded, signalling that she'd be a minute. Rushing back up the few steps and to her dad, she grabbed his arm,
"Adam's asked me to hang out with him!" She said in his ear.
Her dad looked at her, and then Adam, whom was watching, and Adam smiled politely at him.
"Go on." He nodded. "I'll find something to do."
Brogan gasped, wrapping her arms around his neck,
"Thank you!"
Kissing him on the cheek, Brogan then went back down the Adam, and she tucked her hair behind her ears,
"He said it's fine."
Adam grinned,
"Awesome."
They both looked at her dad, who smiled and waved, and then he walked towards the exit.
"I need to go and get changed. Uh…"
Brogan smiled,
"That's fine. I'll wait here."
"You sure?" He furrowed his eyebrows together.
Brogan nodded,
"Yeah, course."
Adam smiled at her,
"Okay. I'll be as quick as possible."
Brogan was sitting on one of the seats, her fingers tapping against her phone keyboard to her best friend, as she waited patiently for Adam to return.
Phoebe: Promise me you'll tell
me ALL about it?!
Brogan: Of course I will!
Phoebe: Ahhhh! Okay! Have fun!
Brogan: Thanks!
When she looked up, putting her phone back into her handbag, she saw Adam heading towards her, a smile on his face. Brogan returned his smile, and she stood up, meeting him halfway.
"Ready?" He asked.
Brogan smiled and nodded at him, and she followed him back down the steps, and they headed into the tunnel, where all the footballers went to get changed, etc. Adam placed his hand on Brogan's back, leading her towards the backdoor exit. When they reached it and walked outside, Adam led her to the pathway, heading away from the football ground.
"So… where're we going?" Brogan asked, looking up at him.
"Uh…" Adam looked back at her,
"I haven't quite figured that part out yet."
They both laughed.
"I don't really know Sheffield." Adam admitted.
Brogan shrugged slightly,
"Yeah, me neither. I only come here for concerts or shopping."
Adam laughed, nodding,
"I see."
"Hey. Don't you laugh at my Westlife concerts."
He looked at her, not knowing whether to take her serious or not.
"Yes, I'm being serious." She answered his unasked question.
Adam grinned,
"Awe. A Westlife fan, eh?"
Brogan smiled, rolling her eyes,
"Don't you diss my boys."
They both laughed, and Adam then shook his head, smiling to himself.
"Are you hungry?" He asked.
"Uh…" Brogan paused, feeling her stomach rumble. "Starving." She let out a laugh.
"Come on then. Let's find a nice café, yeah?"
Brogan smiled and nodded at him, and she bit her bottom lip gently, trying to stop herself from smiling as wide as possible.
"So, how are you? Like, from the match. You got hit pretty bad near the beginning."
Adam smiled and he shrugged slightly,
"I'm fine."
Brogan looked unconvinced,
"Are you sure? I mean, even I felt the pain."
He laughed,
"Yeah, I ran it off."
She laughed back at him, shaking her head,
"Oh, I see."
"I find it really flatterin' that you came all this way to watch me play, y'know?"
Brogan blushed and smiled,
"Well, what can I say?" She shrugged. "I'm a fan."
Adam smiled back at her, making Brogan swallow slowly.
"So, what're you wanting?" Adam asked.
"Uh, just a sandwich." Brogan said, her eyes drifting back down to her menu.
"Yeah, think I'll have the same." Adam agreed, as the waitress came over.
"Hi, can I take your order?" She asked, getting out her notepad and pen.
"Can I have a chicken salad sandwich, please?" Brogan ordered, looking up at the waitress as she did.
The waitress smiled and nodded, writing it down, and then she looked at Adam.
"Uh, yeah. Y'know what? Make that two, thanks." Adam said, smiling.
Brogan smiled to herself.
"And to drink?"
"Tea, please." Adam replied.
"Same, please."
The waitress smiled and nodded, taking their menus, and she walked away.
"I've always wondered what it'd be like to hang out with you." Brogan admitted.
Adam smiled,
"Really?"
She nodded,
"Yeah."
"And how is it so far?" Adam raised his eyebrows at her.
She giggled,
"It's great."
Adam smiled widely at her,
"Great."
Brogan drifted her eyes down to the table.
"Have you got any new projects going on?" She asked, looking back up at him.
He nodded,
"Yeah. I actually go to Poland with Jordan this week."
Brogan raised her eyebrows,
"Wow, really?"
He nodded,
"Yeah. For five weeks."
"That's exciting." She smiled.
"Yeah, I'm really excited." Adam returned her smile.
"I'm excited to see it." She teased.
Adam laughed,
"Oh, I bet you are." He teased back.
Brogan laughed and then she grinned at him.
"Hi, guys. Your teas." The waitress said, placing a small tray in between them.
"Thanks." They both said at the same time.
As the waitress walked away, both Brogan and Adam picked up a cup, and Adam handed her the water. Pouring the water in halfway, she handed it back to him, and then she stirred the water and teabag together. She took out the teabag, placing it on the tray, and then she put in three spoonfuls of sugar into her cup, and then she poured her milk into the cup, stirring it altogether.
"Like it milky?" Adam asked, a smile on his face.
Brogan flushed at him, and she nodded,
"Yeah."
Adam smiled to himself, stirring his tea, and then two of them took a sip of their teas. Brogan placed all the stuff back onto the tray.
"So tell me. What's your job? I see you tweeting about it every once in a while."
"Uh, I work for an apprenticeship company."
Adam raised his eyebrows at her.
"We get young people in work, while doing a 12 month qualification." She explained.
"That sounds cool. What do you do?" Adam asked, taking another sip of his tea.
"I'm in charge of all the social media networks. Putting the job roles that are available on Twitter and FaceBook. And I'm also in admin."
"Do you enjoy it?" Adam asked, smiling at her.
"Uh… yeah." Brogan nodded.
"Very convincing." Adam laughed.
Brogan returned the laugh,
"No, no. I do enjoy it. It's just, my dream is to be in the media industry."
"You should get a CV sorted, and get it sent everywhere."
She smiled at him,
"You think so?"
Adam nodded,
"Definitely. You should just do it. Especially if it's your dream."
The two shared a smile, and then the waitress came over with their food.
The two walked out of the café, and they walked down the street.
"Fancy doing something else before I let you go?" Adam asked.
Brogan looked up at him, and she smiled, nodding,
"Sure."
He smiled back down at her, and then he placed his hand on her back,
"Come on."
Adam led the two of them down the street, and he walked back towards the football ground.
"We're goin' back to the ground?" Brogan asked curiously.
Adam nodded,
"Yeah."
As they walked in through the backdoor, Adam held Brogan's wrist, leading her through the tunnel and onto the football pitch. Brogan smiled to herself, as Adam led her to the middle of the pitch. Letting go of her wrist, Adam smiled at her,
"Look around." He told her.
Brogan smiled back, and she turned slowly in a full circle, taking it the whole stadium,
"Wow. It's so big." She commented.
Adam smiled,
"It's amazing that so many people can actually fit in here."
She nodded in agreement,
"Yeah."
"Now," Adam started, a smile growing on his face, "how do you fancy a quick game?"
Brogan looked at him, raising her eyebrows at him,
"Of football?"
Adam grinned and nodded,
"Yeah."
She smiled at him,
"Okay…?" She laughed.
Adam laughed as well, jogging over to the end of the pitch, and he picked up a football, and then he put it on the grass, kicking it over to Brogan. she stopped it with her foot, and then she looked at Adam; an uneasy expression on her face,
"I'm not a good player." She warned.
Adam shrugged,
"So? It's just for fun."
Brogan smiled,
"Okay."
She kicked the ball away from the both of them, and Adam chuckled, as they both started to run after it. Brogan let out a squeal, knowing that he was close behind her, and as she was just about to reach the ball, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her, and Adam picked her up, spinning her around. Brogan laughed hard and she tipped her head back, resting it against Adam's shoulder. She placed her hands over his, not knowing what to do with them, as he span her.
"Adam! Put me down!" She shouted through her laughter.
Adam laughed along with her, and after a couple more spins, he finally set Brogan down on her feet. Brogan started to stumble from the dizziness, so Adam placed his hands on her shoulders, steadying her,
"Whoa." He laughed.
Brogan giggled, covering her face, the dizziness making her feel nauseous.
"You feeling okay?" Adam asked.
She nodded,
"Uh huh."
Adam smiled,
"Liar."
"Am not!" Brogan defended.
"Then why are you covering your face?"
Brogan paused for a second,
"Cause." She mumbled lamely.
Adam laughed at her response, and then he moved Brogan's hands from her face,
"There she is." He teased.
Brogan smiled at him.
"I've had fun with you." Adam admitted.
She nodded,
"Me too."
"We should do this more often." He suggested.
Brogan nodded again,
"Yeah… When you're not filming." She joked.
Adam opened out his arms, and Brogan instantly hugged him; Adam wrapping his arms around her. Brogan smiled to herself, hugging his neck.
"Thanks for hanging out with me this afternoon."
Brogan smiled,
"Thanks for inviting me." She said in his ear.
They pulled out of the embrace, and Adam smiled down at her. The two stared at one another, and then Adam leaned down slightly, kissing her on the cheek softly.
"When I come back from Poland, we'll hang out. Deal?"
Brogan smiled big, her cheeks burning,
"Deal."
