A/N: Sorry for that cliffhanger earlier but I'll just let you read to rest your nerves. ENJOY! :D

I got out of the car and sprinted towards the bus. I could hear the kids groaning and I climbed up on the side of it, pushing the door open. There was blood everywhere and the emergency door on the back had flew open. My eyes connected with green ones and I let out a sigh of relief before reaching in.

"No take her first."

I looked down to see Kendall holding Bell, covered in blood. She started scrambling for me as I reached for her and Kendall pushed her up. She jumped from my arms and landed on the ground where she shook herself, sending blood flying everywhere. I knew it wasn't hers because Kendall was covered in it to.

"Are you okay?" I asked him while Jo helped Camille out of the back of the bus.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He said before he moved over to the closest child. She was bleeding from her head but other than that she was fine. Kendall grabbed all of the children and we helped them out of the bus. Some of them were slightly injured but they would be fine.

"Who fired the shoutgun?" I asked him.

"Camille."

I looked over at them and they were helping kids out of the bus too. Kendall moved into the bus and I jumped down to follow him. We walked along the windows of the bus and checked the vital signs of the kids that looked knocked out. Most of them were dead and the ones who weren't we grabbed and carried them out. I gasped when I saw that Meradith looked like a zombie.

"Yup, she's the one who started this." Kendall said, looking over my shoulder.

"She attacked one student and all of them panicked and then another student was bit and another before Camille shot her. She fired another one when the first student came back. I never saw it happen so fast though."

"Wait, so did you ever shoot the other ones that got bit?"

"Well, one of them isn't attached to a body so I wouldn't worry so much. The other one looks dead but I wasn't sure so I detached the head. There's so much blood. I don't think these kids are ever going to forget this."

"What about you?"

"Oh, I'm fine. I've seen much worse. It's horrible watching old people try to run but physically can't. You can't help them because you're a mile away looking through a sniper rifle and-" He just stopped and looked down.

I figured he wasn't trying to cry but I hugged him before realizing he was covered in blood. I made a sound of disgust as I looked down at my clothes, now stained with blood. Once we climbed out, all of the students were standing there. Some looked in shock, some were shaking, while others were crying. I looked over to see Jo looking Camille over while Camille told her repeatedly that she was fine.

"We have to do a search on everyone before we go any further." Kendall spoke.

"Further? Further? Where are we going to go?! The bus flipped over!" The kid yelled at Kendall who looked a little shocked.

"We're going to walk the rest of the way. I have a map and it said that the safety camp is only down this road and down a road on the left." I told him. He burst into tears and I figured that's why he was yelling at Kendall in the first place. Another kid pulled him to her as he cried.

"We need to check everyone so this doesn't happen again." Camille said before she started checking everyone. It was hard to tell because most of them were covered in blood. Once everyone was checked out and clear, Jo climbed into the truck while me, Camille, and Kendall walked with the kids.

There were a few drops falling from Bell's fur as we walked, leaving a trail. Most of the kids looked like they just wanted to rest as we walked under the beaming California sun. They would sigh when the wind blew and a few of them would take turns riding on the back of the truck. Jo stopped driving and we all walked up to the window as she rolled it down.

"I'm running out of gas." She told us and all of the kids groaned.

"How long until we get there?" I asked her. She grabbed the map and looked at it.

"According to the map, we're almost there, we just need to drive down this road and make a left and it should be at the end of the road."

"Jo, turn off the engine." Kendall told her and she quickly turned it off.

"Camille, where's the sniper rifle?"

"In the back, why?" Kendall ran to the back of the truck, grabbing it, before he climbed on the back of the truck. He sat the sniper rifle on the top of the truck and everyone looked where he was aimed.

"Kendall-"

"Shh. It can hear you." We all stood there quietly before Kendall fired the rifle.

"Okay, we can keep going now." He said as he sat the rifle back down in the back and climbed off the truck. We all headed towards where Kendall shot and soon walked past a body.

"Perfect shot." Jo commented before we turned the corner.

"Look." Camille said, pointing to a sign.

"Only two people at once." I read out loud.

"More than two will be shot." Kendall continued.

"This must be the safety camp's doing." Camille told us.

"So which two?" One of the kids said.

"We'll go." I said referring to me and Kendall. Kendall nodded and we began walking down this road. There were signs all down the road warning about more than one person. Kendall grabbed my hand when we saw a sign that said snipers ahead. We could see a huge gate in the distance that had barbwire going around the fencing.

"STOP!" Someone yelled. I felt Kendall squeeze my hand as we came to a stop.

"Lower all of your weapons." I heard them say.

"We have kids with us." I told him as we put our weapons on the ground.

"So do we, now, put your hands where I can see them. Any sudden movements and a bullet goes into your skulls." We both raised our hands before two guys ran out from the bushes and took our guns.

"Why are you here?" I still had no idea where this guy was so I just spoke looking at the gate.

"We heard about the safety camp on the radio."

"You said you have kids with you?"

"Yeah, we also had an accident a while back so some of them are a little hurt." Kendal told him.

"Turn around and go get them." Me and Kendall let out a sigh of relief as we turned around and headed back to the group.

"Either we've found it or we've been robbed." Kendall said with a shrug.

"No, we found it. Otherwise, they wouldn't be asking about the kids." I told him. As we walked up to the truck, everyone was looking at us, waiting for some kind of news.

"I'm pretty sure this is it. They want us to bring the rest of us." Kendall said, smiling.

"Should we leave the truck behind?" Jo asked me.

"You should drive slow so they won't think you're trying to ram into the gate or something." Jo nodded at my words and started the truck up again.

"Come on, guys. We're almost there." I told the kids as I ushered them down the road. we headed back to the same spot and Jo stopped the car and got out.

"Everyone put their weapons down." The guy said in the distance.

"We brought them." I told him as Jo and Camille dropped their weapons.

"Oh my god, they're covered in blood." One of the guys who came to get their weapons said, pulling out his gun.

"WAIT!" I screamed when I saw a red dot on one of the kids head.

"They aren't bitten, we checked them over ourselves. We had an accident and a few of their friends were bitten but we killed them." I explained and the red dot disappeared and they all ran back into the trees on both sides of us.

"What kind of shit is this?" Jo commented.

"Open the gate." The guy, who I still don't know where he is, said. We all walked toward the gate and as it opened, I grabbed Hannah from Tina, who was next to me. Hannah yawned and started messing with my nose. I kissed her forehead and she giggled.

"Carlos?" Kendall said, getting my attention.

"Yeah?"

"What about Hannah?"

"What about her?"

"Her eyes."

"I can explain it to them." The gate was fully open so he just nodded.

We all walked into what looked like a huge white tent and the gate closed behind us. I held Hannah close to me and she started to mouth on my shirt and I quickly stopped her since it was dirty. The curtains to the tent in front of us opened and two guys with pistols and two guys with assault rifles walked in.

"We have to check everyone for bites. Standard procedure." One of them said.

"Kids first." Kendall told them and the kids walked forward. The guards had wet cloths and began to wipe down each kid to see if they were bitten. Luckily, no one was bitten and they sent the kids through the tent, leaving me, Hannah, Jo, Camille, and Kendall.

"Alright, last kid." One of the guards said, gesturing for me to step forward since I had Hannah.

"Wait, can I say something first?" I asked him as I took a step forward.

"Sure." He said, reaching for Hannah. I took a step back, away from his hand and he looked at me suspiciously.

"Can I say something first?"

"Is she bit?" He asked.

"What?"

"I said is she bit?"

"No." I said before Hannah turned to look at him. He jumped back and aimed his pistol at her when he saw her eyes. Bell started barking and not a second later, I heard a gun click from next to me. I turned to see that it was Kendall aiming a pistol at the guys head. The other guy with a pistol aimed it at Kendall.

"Don't think about it stretch." Jo said, aiming a pistol at him.

"You either." She added, pulling another pistol from behind her, aiming it at one of the guys with an assault rifle. He had it aimed at her and Camille pulled out a pistol of her own, making the guy with the second assault rifle aim it at her.

"Am I the only one who dropped all of their weapons?" I asked and they all nodded.

"Put your guns down!" The one aiming the gun at Hannah and me yelled.

"You first." Kendall told him.

"Can I just say explain?" I asked.

"You brought a bitten child in here and you expect us to just let you bring her in. Is that it?"

"She's not bitten."

"Her fucking eyes are purple."

"She was born like this. We spent most of our life in the hospital and doctors never found out what was wrong with her."

"You expect me to believe you?"

"Do you have a doctor here?" I asked him and he started to think.

"The leader of this camp is a doctor." One of the guys with an assault rifle said.

"Go get him." Kendall told him.

"Lower your guns."

"You lower yours." Kendall told them.

"Look, they only raise their guns in defense so if you lower your guns, they will too." I told them and they slowly lowered theirs.

I looked at Kendall when they lowered their guns because he was the only one who didn't lower his. I supported Hannah with one hand and used the other to lower Kendall's gun. He looked at me before he sighed and dropped it, putting it in the back of his waistband of his jeans.

"We won't let you in until we confiscate all of your weapons."

"We're not in there yet, are we?" Kendall told him. Hannah reached up for my face again and I played like I was going to eat her fingers and she started laughing.

"Looks pretty dangerous, better watch out Carlos." Kendall said, sarcastically before looking at the guards. Jo and Camille started snickering before we heard a voice coming closer and closer. The curtains were pulled back and in walked a guy around my height.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Logan Mitchell."

"Hi, Dr. Mitchell, I'm Carlos Garcia, this is my daughter Hannah." I told him.

"Is this the baby girl everyone's talking about?" He said and I turned her to face him. His eyes widened in shock and he swooped down to her level.

"Hi there cutie." He said, smiling at her. She smiled back and reached for him.

"Do you want to hold her?" I asked him and the guards took a step forward.

"Guys, she's harmless." He said, holding his hands out. I handed him Hannah and he smiled as he held her.

"I can't believe I'm holding the baby that I've only read about. She's a medical mystery and she's so cute. Seriously, cutest baby in the world. How old is she?"

"Well, she's going on to six months."

"That's great, you guys can follow me?" He asked before walking through the tent exit.

"Sir, they still have guns." The guard that held me and Hannah at gunpoint said. Kendall, Camille, and Jo sat the rest of their guns on the ground before we continued.

"I bet her eyes have gotten her into some trouble."

"Yeah." I said, walking with him, only to notice that we walked into another tent.

"What's this place?" Kendall asked.

"This place is called a Safety Camp." Jo said, sarcastically, causing Kendall to glare at her.

"This is where we draw blood from everyone here to help find a cure." Dr. Mitchell told us.

"The virus travels through the bloodstream and we've found that when injecting human blood into zombies, they become normal for a while but eventually revert back due to the blood not being strong enough. Hopefully, we can find someone's blood strong enough to make the change back to normalcy permanent."

"But don't they eat human flesh and stuff." Jo asked.

"Yes but that's not a direct line to the blood in their bodies." We walked over to one of the stations and I could see the kids we picked up, rubbing their arms as some people talked to them. Camille was the first one to get her blood drawn.

"It's great that you guys saved all of these children. Our community was lacking in children, the rest of the kids are going to enjoy making new friends."

"Yeah, we stumbled across them on our way here. Their Principal was trying to keep them there and he had gotten bit so we had to take them. We lost a couple of kids on the way because one of them was bitten and didn't tell anyone." I informed him.

"That explains why we have blood on us." Kendall added as Camille got up and Jo sat down.

"So where are you two from?" Dr. Mitchell asked.

"Well, I'm originally from Minnesota but when my girlfriend was pregnant with Hannah she wanted to move to California. We lived near San Francisco before the outbreak and I traveled for a while with Hannah by myself before being stumbled upon by him." I said, looking at Kendall as he sat in the chair.

"He was going to rob me and leave me there but he saw I had Hannah so he woke me up after taking everything from me. He took me back to his house and we've been together ever since."

"Don't forget about when he left without us." Jo told me and Kendall sighed.

"Oh yeah, okay so me and him were gathering supplies when we met my old friend Jo and her girlfriend Camille-"

"Who were going to rob us." Kendall interrupted.

"But we didn't." Jo responded.

"Anyway, after going to the mall we came back to Kendall's house and on the radio he heard his little sister speaking from this safety camp's radio frequency."

"Oh you must be talking about Katie. She's the one who helped set up the radio and ever since then we've gotten tons of people here." Dr. Mitchell said and Kendall smiled.

"He left us, completely forgetting that we were going with him and we found him in the middle of the street about to die. Luckily, I'm a good boyfriend and followed him, otherwise, he would be dead."

"Thanks babe." Kendall said, getting up from the chair and kissing me on my forehead.

"You two have had quite the journey and still found love. Me and my boyfriend had a similar experience. He's a model and when me and my team came up with this idea of a safety camp, he was one of the first people to join. He was a pain in the ass when he first got here because he expected luxuries but I quickly put him in his place." Dr. Mitchell said as I sat down in the chair.

"So, Doctor-"

"Please, just call me Logan."

"Okay, Logan, what made you think of a safety camp when this happened?" I asked him.

"Well, me and my team were already making one without thinking about it and when another nurse, Katie's mother, came here, she suggested that we start one and Katie came up with the idea of a radio broadcast to get other survivors." Kendall smiled at Logan's words and I knew he was excited to see them.

"Oh and I would like to apologize for our military forces in the front. They are a bit uptight since we had bandits try to break in when the camp sent out it's first broadcast."

"It's fine. I knew something was going to happen because her eyes have been getting us into trouble for a while. Kendall should understand since he's done the same thing." I told him before the lady took my blood.

"So do you take blood from dogs?" Kendall asked, gesturing to Bell.

"No, because mixing animal blood and zombie blood just kills them faster."

"That explains why they don't go after animals." Jo said.

"Oh no, they do, if they're desperate." Logan corrected.

"What about babies?" I asked and we looked down at Hannah as she messed with his name tag.

"Only with the parents consent."

"Are you going to do it?" Kendall asked me and I shrugged.

"If it's for a cure, sure. She's use to needles so she won't be difficult." I said before Logan handed her to me.

The lady prepped Hannah's arm by cleaning it and asked me to hold her down. I held Hannah's arm and she looked up at me. I kissed her forehead as the lady took her blood. She squirmed a little and made a sound like she was about to cry before the lady finished up. I smiled when she gave her a cute band-aid with butterflies on it. I got up out of the chair and we all followed Logan to the exit of the tent. I waved to Tina and the rest of the kids as we passed them.

When we walked out of the tent, we were outside. It looked like they just blocked off a neighborhood, which is a good idea instead of everyone living in tents, like I thought. Logan showed us around the whole camp and told us about the different activities that we could do.

"I heard that you're planning on moving to Texas." Kendall said after Logan went over the last activity.

"Yeah, that's my home state and my cousin told me that they have built a huge safety camp using a university campus that has better labs than we have here. They have a radio broadcast too and they used it to contact us. We plan on moving soon but we have to get everything set up."

"Is there anything we can help with?" Kendall asked.

"Well, we don't have enough vehicles to transport everyone."

"We came here on a bus but it flipped on it's side. If I could get a couple of guys to help me, we can flip it back and clean it up."

"That sounds great, we can transfer all of the kids on it. I'll find you when I get the men to help. But for right now, you guys can find a vacant house. They all have signs on them and when you find a place just take the sign off. The houses all have been cleaned and ready to live in."

"Thank you, Logan." I told him and he nodded with a smile.

"Anything to help, oh, and Kendall, your mother and sister live down this street here. I'm glad you're alive, they're going to be excited to see you. They always tell everyone about you and your band. They both seem so proud of you and Katie has been doing that broadcast for you almost every night. It'll be good to see her get a real goodnights sleep. I'll see you guys around." Logan said before he turned and headed back to the tent.

We all walked down the road and found two houses next to each other. Camille and Jo headed into one while me, Hannah, Kendall, and Bell went into the other. We walked in and I was amazed at how it looked.

"I guess this is our new home." I said and Kendall smiled.

"For now at least." He added, walking over to me and Hannah before giving me a kiss.

Hannah reached up and touched both of our faces and we both smiled. I could finally take a breath and relax. We're safe and protected by the military. We're surrounded by normal people who all seem so nice and I'm standing here with my boyfriend and daughter in this house that's completely safe.

Life couldn't get any better.

We broke our kiss apart when there was a knock on the door. Which made Bell bark, making Hannah jump.

"I'll get it." Kendall told me as he headed for the door while I walked to the kitchen. It was nice and decorated with modern cabinets.

I heard a scream so I quickly ran back into the living room to see Kendall hugging a little girl and a woman in the doorway, covering her mouth in shock while tears rolled down her face. I looked at Kendall and he was crying as he squeezed the little girl. All of them were crying and when they broke apart, Kendall turned to me.

"T-This is my little sister and my mom." He told me before he hugged his mom.

Apparently life could get better, and it just did.
