Dean eventually pulled out the laptop and watched the security footage they had recorded of the multiple Dick Romans. He was looking for something, a tell of some kind, that would help them spot the one they were after. After hours of watching, it seemed useless.
They all turned in surprise when Bobby popped in. He was still itching to get to Dick Roman. He was even willing to possess someone again to do it, even though he had willingly left the maid after he almost choked Sam to death. He told them they should have burned the flask in the first place.
"Look," Bobby said. "I'm done. Go get Dick, but don't do it 'cause you think it'll scratch the itch. Do it 'cause it's the job. And when it's your time... go."
They went down into the basement. Dean put some coals into a container he could burn them in. He got the fire going, and they all stared at Bobby. Lily held Dean's hand and wrapped her arm around his.
"Here's to... running into you guys on the other side," Bobby said. "Only... not too soon. Alright?"
Dean threw Bobby's flask into the flames, and they watched his spirit burn, just as they had watched so many others do. But there was no shrieking, no painful screams. Perhaps because Bobby was ready to go. Or maybe he was hiding any pain he felt to keep them from heaping anymore guilt upon themselves.
Lily clutched Dean's hand, and reached out for Sam's as the burning orange light faded. Bobby was gone for good.
They stayed in the basement for a while, almost paralyzed. It was Dean, always the soldier and ever their leader, who spoke first.
"I have an idea," he said, "but it all hinges on getting Cas to agree to go in with us."
"What's the plan?" Sam asked.
"We send Meg in through the front. Big entrance."
"A distraction?" Lily asked.
"Exactly. Cas and I will sneak in and look for Dick, while you two find Kevin."
"It's risky," Sam said.
"Everything we do is risky."
Sam could hardly disagree. "Okay. I'm in."
Dean looked to Lily. "You okay with this?"
"Not really. I've been hunting almost my whole life. I've been up against some scary things... in some extremely intense situations. But this?"
"This is par for the course for us," Dean said. "Why do you think I pushed you away back then? I wanted to keep you safe from this crap."
"I think I actually understand that now," she said, "but if you try to do it again, I'll kill you myself."
Dean smiled, despite the seriousness of the situation. "Hey, I included you in the plan, didn't I?"
"Yes, you did." She paused for a moment, staring at Dean, thinking of the possibility of dying, of losing Dean... but would any of that matter if the leviathan won? "I'm in," she said.
"Alright," Dean said. "I'll go talk to Cas, and see if he'll take me to get Baby. It's time to put her back in action."
Dean left the Impala with Meg at Rufus' cabin. Castiel transported the rest of them close to SucroCorp, and they waited for Meg to make her big entrance. Lily kissed Dean, long and hard.
"Please be careful," she said.
"You, too."
They heard the tires squealing, and a big crash before the gunfire started. Sam and Lily snuck in through one back exit while Dean and Castiel went through another.
Find Kevin. That was the goal. That's what Lily kept repeating to herself. She had to stay focused on that. When she thought about the big picture, and the fact that the man she loved was going to get close enough to Dick Roman to stab him, she panicked.
She and Sam carefully opened door after door looking for the prophet. They finally found him bound to a chair with tape over his mouth. When Sam removed the tape, Kevin said they couldn't leave yet.
"Uh, yeah, we can," Sam said. "It's okay. We gotta go."
"You don't understand. Dick's got creamer in his lab. He's gonna kill all the skinny people."
"Wait. What? Slow down."
"We have to blow up the lab, Sam. Please."
Sam looked to Lily, who nodded. He agreed, and they made their way to the lab. They reached it just in time to see Dean plunge the weapon through Dick's neck through the window in the lab door. Sam burst in, with Lily and Kevin right behind him.
Dick's face contorted, showing his large mouth. Then an energy, like seismic waves, began to pulse through the room. They emanated from Dick and grew larger and stronger before Dick Roman exploded in an eruption of black goo. Sam turned to cover Lily and Kevin. When they looked up, Dick was gone. So were Dean and Castiel.
"Sam," Kevin said, "we should go."
"What the hell?" Sam and Lily looked around the room.
"Where did they go?" Lily asked.
"I don't know," Sam said. Panic was rising in his voice.
"More chompers any second, Sam," Kevin said.
"Not to worry," Crowley's voice cut through the room, and all eyes went to him. "I have a small army of demons outside. 'Cut off the head, and the body will flounder,' after all. Think, if you'd had just one king since before the first sunrise. You'd be in a kerfuffle, too."
"Which is exactly what you wanted," Sam said.
"So did you. Without a master plan, the Levis are just another monster. Hard to stomp, sure, but you love a challenge. Your job is to keep them from organizing."
"Where's Dean?" Sam demanded.
"That bone... has a bit of a kick. God weapons often do. They should put a warning on the box."
"Where are they, Crowley!"
"Can't help you, Sam," Crowley said. He snapped his fingers and two demons appeared and grabbed hold of Kevin. Two more grabbed Lily, who immediately began to struggle.
"Sorry, Sam," Crowley said. "Prophet's mine. And the one Dean was so interested in protecting," he said with his eyes on Lily, "I'm just taking her for giggles."
Lily's eyes got wide, and she screamed as Sam turned to her. "Sam!"
Before she could even finish his name, Crowley snapped his fingers. Her scream continued as she found herself in a dark room, bound to a chair by her ankles and wrists. Metal confines she couldn't get out of if she tried. She struggled against them, testing their strength, and let out a cry when she found they had no give, slicing thin lines into her wrists.
A moment later, Crowley stood before her. He looked at the thin, bloody lines and smiled.
"Starting without me, love?" He seemed pleased with himself as Lily stared at him defiantly. "We're gonna have lots of fun, you and I."
