Chapter 5

10 minutes into the lesson and I understood what Minerva was telling me. I had given them my famous speech and while the others began copying notes down, Potter never even picked up a quill. I asked him a question and he never even looked at me. His luminescent green eyes were unnaturally wide and bright but yet they held a hint of emptiness that a normal, healthy child wouldn't have. Eventually the class began to draw to an end.
"Gryffindors leave, Slytherins stay" I called out as everyone was begging to leave. Groans from the Slytherins almost made me want to smile.
Once everyone bar the Slytherin first years were gone I told them to line up in a single file and I proceeded to lead them to the infirmary. Once there Poppy told them all to sit in the row of chairs. I watched Potter to see what he would do. I watched him notice that some just sat down randomly but the nervous ones sat down towards the back. I could see his mind working and I saw when he worked out that Poppy would know that the nervous ones would go to the back and she would pick them first and so he sat himself 3 chairs in from the start.
"Right. Each and every one of you are going to go through a physical. It will not be painful at all. I will simply check your height, weight and run a diagnostic charm on you. Each person should last around 10 minutes and after that you are free to go. If you are here at dinner still then food will be sent up to you. I know who is next now so no switching orders. There are tables over there so you can do your homework. Now, Mr. Akari, you're up first" she told them all before walking behind a screen.
By the time that 3 people had been checked it was dinner time and a table in the corner of the infirmary was suddenly laden with an assortment of foods (from a high pile of bread and a dish of butter to plates of chicken, pork and gammon and dishes of mash and ranges of vegetables) and jugs of juice, milk and water. The remaining pupils immediately rushed to the table and I watched as Harry slowly got up and walked to the table. By the time he got there everyone had already served themselves and so he sat down and began filling his plate. At 25 past 5 Madame Pomfrey walked up to Solange and told her to finish up her meal as it was almost time for her check up.
By 6pm, there was only 5 people left; Blaise Zabini, Draco Malfoy, Frederic Brimth, Jeremy Malottore and Harry Potter. I then realised that the previous 6 students had all been in one dorm room and these 5 shared another room. Blaise was first and then Draco and I knew nothing would come up with them but after them was the one I had anticipated all day – Harry Potter.
When his name was called he had looked up from the wall he had been looking at and slowly stood. When dinner had arrived I had sat on the medical bed and had begun talking to Poppy (who conjured a plate of food and forced me to eat). Since then I had just stayed behind the curtain watching the exams going on so I now had an excuse to watch Harry's exam.
He walked nervously to the bed and looked up at it. I then realised how small he was as his head was just over the high bed – where as everyone else had been at least head and shoulders taller.
"Right then, Mr. Potter, will you please just stand as tall as you can and stay still please" she told him. "Sublimitas quod pondus". A piece of parchment and a quil appeared next to Poppy and began writing down his height and weight. She then cast a diagnostic charm on him and the quil began writing. After only around 1 minute the quil finished and Poppy plucked the parchment out of the air.
"Okay then Mr Potter, it seems you have hurt your ankle. Can you tell me how?" she asked him. I could see him trying to come out with an answer; not the kind that would be a lie but an honest answer. His mouth opened and he tried to speak but nothing came out. He was clearly becoming distressed.
"Mr Potter, do not distress yourself. Calm down this instant" I told him. Poppy suddenly returned and I mentally cursed at my slip of concentration as I hadn't notice her leave. In her hand I noticed the familiar green vial of skelegrow that if looked at close enough would have thin white lines indicating the pain reliever.
"Right then Mr Potter. Will you please sit back properly on the bed. Yes, yes like that. Right. I am going to have to re-set the bone in your ankle as it is not aligned properly. This may hurt a bit". A loud crack filled the room with a cry of anguish. "Here then, drink this please". As soon as he had drunk it, the immediate relief was on his face.
"Now then. That foot is not to be moved for 3 hours so would you like me to bind it so you can't move it?" at this he gave a nod of his head and with a wave of her wand, Poppy had spelled his leg, from his knee down, to be completely rigid. With that, she motioned for me to follow her.
"Okay Poppy, what are his full injuries?" I asked her instantly.
"That is it. Honestly. It shows he is slightly underweight but not much and that he had broken his foot. There was no damage to his throat so I don't understand why he can't talk but I can tell he is somehow hiding it from the spell. Along with many other injuries". I gave a sigh at this and the healer patted my arm before going back to her last 2 patients for now. What was Potter hiding and how?

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. These updates will never be regular as I update when I manage to finish a chapter (which can take who knows how long). I know that this chapter and the last have been short but I'm not having much luck writing recently and I am trying to write a 2000 word essay to get into creative writing class at college which also needs a 300 word review on it. I will try and update as soon as I can but during all of this I am also moving house so I am having a melt down. I love reviews so the more I get the more motivated I will become and I will try writing faster. This story will be finished at some point because I have already planned a sequel and a third installment as well :)
